Right clicking brings up two dialog boxes

Hello,
Using Internet Explorer no problem with right clicking on a mailbox entry.
Using FireFox version 3.63 right clicking my mail item brings up two selection boxes.
Should only be just one.
Previous Firefox version like 3.60 was ok.
See screenshot (or http) for example:

Every time Firefox opened
== with version 3.63

Today I reinstalled an old FireFox version 3.59 and it corrected the problem.
Then I set FireFox "Options" to NOT automatically check for updates.
If you want to see the "double dialogue box problem" with FF version 3.63, I put the screenshot on Photobucket ... this is the link to it:

• I see two dialog boxes when I run this script, why?

When I run this script I see two dialog boxes of "Would you like to Minimize firefox", the first has no default button selected, the second one does.
What is going on? How do I end up with only one dialog box?
set minfirefox to "Would you like to Minimize firefox?"
set tempvar to display dialog minfirefox buttons {"Yes", "No"}
set ButtonPressed to button returned of tempvar
display dialog minfirefox buttons {"Yes", "No"} default button "Yes"
if ButtonPressed is "yes" then
display dialog "you pressed " & ButtonPressed
else
display dialog "you should have pressed yes but you pressed " & ButtonPressed
end if

You're telling it to display the dialog twice. Once here without the default button:
set tempvar to display dialog minfirefox buttons {"Yes", "No"}
and then again here:
display dialog minfirefox buttons {"Yes", "No"} default button "Yes"
But you're ignoring the buttons returned from the second one.

PS. This probably does more like what you want:
set minfirefox to "Would you like to Minimize firefox?"
set tempvar to display dialog minfirefox buttons {"Yes", "No"} default button "Yes"
set ButtonPressed to button returned of tempvar
if ButtonPressed is "yes" then
display dialog "you pressed " & ButtonPressed
else
display dialog "you should have pressed yes but you pressed " & ButtonPressed
end if

• Crash on right click menu on save dialog

Hi,
when opening a save dialog from within a Firefox (for example 'Save link as', 'Save image as'...), and then right-clicking on some of the listed file/folders, Firefox always (as far as I noticed) crashes.
This has been happening to me for quite a long time, and with different releases of the browser (I usually keep it up to date), and in Safe Mode too.
Not a gigantic problem, of course (I simply avoid right-clicking Firefox opened save dialogs...), but I just wanted to report you such issue.
Just for further information, the same doesn't happen from save dialogs opened from within other Windows programs.
I have always been running Windows XP SP3, regularly updated; basic system specs:
Motherboard: Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe
CPU: AMD Pehnom II 555
Memory: 4GB RAM
VIdeo card: ATI Radeon HD 5450
Any further detaill... welcome to be asked!
Cheers
Raffaele

My system recovered from a serious error recently. During the error, Firefox crashed. Since I have restarted my system and Firefox, I cannot use any of the toolbar options such as:close, minimise and maximise. Also, when I right click, an outline of a box appears without the visible options although on some occasions they appear after 10 seconds or so. Can you advise me of what to do to cure this problem please or is it a case of using a Windows tool such as System Restore?

I HAVE NOW SOLVED THE PROBLEM BY RUNNING WINDOWS REGISTRY REPAIR TOOL WHICH HAS OBVIOUSLY REPAIRED CORRUPT REGISTRY FILES.

• Cant enter any favorites into the top sites boxes- right click brings no options for this. How do I resolve this issue?

Top sites opens when a new tab is opened, but all boxes are blank. When I right click to enter a website into one of the boxes, nothing comes up to select a website that can be stored in any of the topsites boxes.

Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• My CD/DVD drive runs constantly. Also, when you right click, only get outline of box, not info within box

CD/DVD drive runs constantly when Firefox is open, sometimes when not open as well. Also, when you right click within Firefox, you just get outline of box, but no info inside box. I have to shutdown computer and restart.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems
See Basic Troubleshooting&#58; Make a new profile
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)<br />

• Flex 2 14 - Two finger tap for Right-Click not working (Two finger double tap works)

I bought my Flex 2 14 a couple of weeks back.
I want to enable Two-finger tap (not click) for right click.. Unfortunately it does not work.
Weirdly, Two-finger DOUBLE tap works for right click..
How do I get a two-finger tap?
I tried the regitry hacks from here (https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Yoga-Flex-Laptops-and/Yoga-2-Pro-Two-finger-tap-does-not-work/td-p/1406... but no luck yet.
Any help please.

I have found a solution but I am still annoyed I had to do my own tech work to get a common touch figure enabled. (By the way there's many threads out there on Synpatics drivers and touchpads not working right for many people on different machines.)
Anyway, indeed the fastest fix is to modify a registry entry for Synaptics. Just open  the regisitry edit software on the Yoga and then go through the folders: HKEY LOCAL / Software / Synaptics / SynTP / Win8
In "2FingerTapAction" all you need is to change the value from "0" to "2" - and presto two-finger tap is now a right click!
Much easier than going through a driver install / uninstall routine or any other of the suggestions I've found out there.
I wish Lenovo had this set up as a default. It's really a great gesture and it's quiet and fast.

• Submiting JSF form on clicking ok of Confirm dialog box

Hi,
We are using JSF 1.2 and Seam 2 in our project.
We have set of requirements
1)To throw a confirmation dialog box when user tries to navigate away from page with out saving the data changes. It includes browser closure, back button and refresh as well along with other application navigation links.
2) upon clicking ok we need to save the current JSF form and redirect to where user is intended to navigate.
Please let me know the best ways of implementing the above requirements.

For the first point, I totally agree with Raymond and you can use the javascript function like this:
<script>
window.onbeforeunload =
function(){
if((window.event.clientX<0) || (window.event.clientY<0)){
//create new confirm window here
//I guess you can check on opening a new JSF page itself as a pop up.
//in that page with normal form and submit buttons, I guess you can call JSF action methods.
</script>

• Why does clicking on the Firefox button or right-clicking bring up either a very small thumbnail or a zoomed in view of the menu options?

Whenever I click on the Firefox menu button or right-click on a hyper link within the broswer, instead of a menu of choices, I am presented with either a tiny thumbnail of the page I am on and the menu expanded (also very tiny). After moving the mouse, the thumbnail disappears and becomes a hyper-zoomed display of the menu that should have displayed. The zoom really looks like what an assistive-reading display would look like.

hello, please try updating your graphics driver (this should be the right link for your model & system:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx), or in case this doesn't solve the issue, disable hardware acceleration in firefox > options > advanced > general.

• If the "unresponsive script" dialog box appears while another dialog box (e.g. a "Save As" box), the two dialog boxes lock each other out

FF 7.0.1 on MacOSX 10.6.8 (not this machine!)
While doing a "Save As", and while the "Save As" dialog box is showing, a second dialog box "unresponsive script" shows up. I can't deal with the "unresponsive script" box as it doesn't have focus, and I can't complete the "Save As" operation because its script has become unresponsive. I end up having to Force-Quit Firefox via the Activity Monitor.
Any less brutal suggestions?

figured it out:
- power off mac and turn back on while holding down Command + R (dont do it on an external keyboard just to be safe)
- choose the re-install Lion option (I'm sure there is another way to re-install Lion, this is just the way I did it, not saying its the best or only method)
- DO NOT INSTALL MACBOOK (Mid 2012) Software Update 1.0 - THIS SCREWS ADOBE UP!

• Bring Back The Dialog Box

I accidentally pressed "No" in the dialog box that pops up after you launch iPhoto asking if you'd want iPhoto to be the default application when you connect a camera.
It's just a quirk of mine to want to have that dialog box pop up again. Does anybody know of a way to make that dialog box ask me again every time I open iPhoto.
I know I can set the the application that downloads pictures from my camera from the image downloader application, but I'd really like to have that dialog box back again.
Thanks in advance.

Restore point had no resolve.
Also, though it may be a browser issue, it is not contained only to my email. This issue occurs even with opening PDF files not connected to my email.  Any other suggestions? Any way to reset this in Adobe or in Firefox?

• Flashing, not responding, struggling to bring the print dialog box up when needed.

When I open a PDF it takes 30-60 seconds to open then it flashes multiple times .. the Reader box going black then the document then black ... all the while not responding is showing. Once its stops, often 1-3 minutes later all is OK. Then when I go to print it starts all over again.
The PDF is on a network drive, if I dual boot the machine to Win7 and open the same PDF no isses, its only when I dual boot to Win8.1 that the flashing, sluggish behaviour and the challenge to print happens. Access using another PC with Win 7 does not show it, I have not tried it on another Windows 8.1 machine as of yet.
I have tried uninstalling and installing again and it changes nothing.

This is the Acrobat forum, not the Reader forum. In the future you should check there. I am not sure why you can not change the printer name, unless you do not have administrator rights. The name of the printer has nothing to do with where the print copy is sent. It is just for the purpose you mentioned of identifying the printer to print to. If you are not the administrator, ask your IT folks to change the name for you and explain why.

• How do I clear Navigation bar? Under Tools "clear private date" does not bring up a dialog box.

I'm trying to clear the navigation bar. Where I type in the web address "www.somethingsomething.com"... The list under there is too long. Using the Tools pull down menu and selecting "clear private data" does nothing. No box pops up. Under options, I've done everything to clear out the history. Everything remains. Any help? Thanks.

Ok, I put a check in the box "Ask me before clearing private data"... now a box does pop up... Items checked are "browsing history, cache cookies, offline website data and authenticated sessions". Item not checked "saved passwords". Items listed but in light gray and unable to put a check "download history, saved form & search history." I hit the "clear private data now" option, nothing happens, except that box goes away. I click on the little down arrow on the navigation bar, and all the things are still there. I'm beyond dumbfounded why! Help please. Thank you.

• Starting firefox brings up a dialog box. Title is "Session Manager" and the message is "This operation failed due to a file access error: unknown error". What's up?

Above says it all

If anyone is is intrested. I figured out the solution. In the Weblogic Console Located in the JDBC Data Sources. Added correct JNDI Name for Name: soademoDatabase which was jdbc/soademoDatabase. Redeploy and restart server. Works fine

• Unix command to click button on dialog box and close windows?

I administer an elementary school computer lab of 35 eMacs all with OS 10.4.7 and with ARD 3.0. Our network server configuration requires a mounted server on each desktop in order to administer certain software packages we use. Every morning at start-up I have to walk around and manually click "Connect" on the dialog boxes. Then, with this configuration, each time a server is mounted, it opens up a Finder Window on the host machine so I've got to walk around and close windows on all the machines. I'm sure there must be an AppleScript or Unix command that I can set up to do these two tasks but I've not found it (or learned how to write it) in a few days of searching. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dan

OK guys,
I just succeeded in saving the AppleScript command as an application. I put it in the Login Items just after the servers. It worked beautifully! No more open windows exposing sensitive files to the risks of elementary students (how come the mounted volumes always appear on the desktop even when the "hide" button is checked?). It would be great if the mounted volumes were not showing at least in a setting like a school computer lab.
Now, I'm still dealing with the mounting process requiring me to manually click on "Connect" every time. The Student account doesn't even have a password just to make such things easier. Still the process displays this:
(Oh well, I guess I can't insert a ScreenShot.)
Here's what it says: Connect to the file server "server name."
Connect as: Registered User
Name: "account name"
√Remember password in keychain
(and then two buttons) Cancel or Connect
That's where I'm at right now. My district Tech. Support folks say that there's no way to avoid the dialog box but John seems to do it OK. They also pointed me to an online source (www.bombich.com) that I haven't yet checked out.
Thanks again,
Dan
