RMAN-06094: datafile 344 must be restored : in duplicate db from active db

Hi All,
I am on oracle 11g database running on Solaris Sparc 64 Bit.
I am trying to use the RMAN Duplication command using the active database with the following command :
rman target sys/manager@TARGET nocatalog  auxiliary sys/manager@DEST <<EOF
run {
allocate channel ch1 type disk;
allocate channel ch2 type disk;
allocate channel ch3 type disk;
allocate channel ch4 type disk;
allocate channel ch5 type disk;
allocate auxiliary channel ch6 type disk;
allocate auxiliary channel ch8 type disk;
allocate auxiliary channel ch7 type disk;
allocate auxiliary channel ch9 type disk;
allocate auxiliary channel ch10 type disk;
SET NEWNAME FOR DATABASE TO '/p1/oracle/DEST/DEST/datafile/%U';
duplicate database to DEST from active database nofilenamecheck;}I got this error at the end of the output :

Hi All,
The datafile 344 and 345 belonged to two different tablespaces which were not used.
Morover , I dont know why , but the timestamp of both the datafiles 344 and 345 was showiing as JULY 6 instead of JULY 28.
So i was sure this was causing the trouble.
I dropped those 2 tablespaces and then reran the script again by removing the created controlfiles and the database was open.
Just curious to know why were those 2 datafiles not getting populated with the latest timestamp ?
Regards
KkWhat is the status of both the data files? can you query from source database
SQL> select file_id,online_status from dba_data_files where file_id in (344,345);
Does that backup contain those two data files? If those two tablespaces have only one data file is it in Read only mode?

    Thank you very much.
    yes, I know, but the primary is a 2TB huge database, a full backup will take a lot of time and disk space. in fact, I don't have disk to hold it (even compressed backup)
    another option is go to rman catalog, trying to restore from tape full backup of primary.

    by the way, I have question:
    we didn't backup the standby database. so if I login rman catalog and try to restore standby database,
    how can I restore a standby databaes by using a primary database's full backup? (is there any possible to do this)

    but i learn that if control file is re-created after that datafile is created , it wont let u to create datafile .
    Now , the problem is even i issue this command = alter database datafile 'F:\oracle\product\10.2.0\oradata\ordb\users01.dbf' offline drop;
    its still showing me that file when i issue , select * from v$datafile; ( but in recover state) then what is of drop that datafile ?

  • Rman clone duplicate database from active database

    Hi All,
    I read document saying that rman can duplicate database from active database (prod) to a remote server, so long as you configure listener and tnsname.
    I am working toward it.
    I met a problem, which is when i bring up auxiliary database in nomount mode, the listener service of that auxiliary database is in BLOCKED status, and throw out ora-12528 error when I rman auxiliary sys/pass@clonedb. Isn't nomount mode the mode which auxiliary db is supposed to be in?
    (ora-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections)
    Thanks,
    milic

    You may have run into the same problem like I did recently:
    The (UR=A) clause in tnsnames.ora is intended to work with a dynamically registered handler so the use of SERVICE_NAME versus SID is preferred.
    ORA-12528: TNS listener BLOCKED - trying to duplicate database
    Also for further problems:

  • How to restore (not duplicate) DB from RAC ASM to non ASM

    Hello everybody,
    i am trying to recover db from RAC+ASM to non ASM no RAC node. I am running Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4) on Win2003 Server. I have functional backup from my prod system.
    Here are my steps:
    *1. On prod server i make backup running this script in RMAN*
    configure channel device type 'SBT_TAPE' parms'SBT_LIBRARY=oracle.disksbt,ENV=(BACKUP_DIR=e:\backup)';
    RUN {
    backup device type SBT_TAPE database tag zal20081129;
    SQL 'alter system archive log current';
    backup device type SBT_TAPE archivelog ALL tag zal20081129;
    *2. I prepared clon instance on another server (The same Oracle version) and start it to nomount mode.*
    *3. I copied the backup from prod server to clon server to exactly the same path. (e:\backup)*
    *4. I connect to RMAN on my new node and I use the DBID parameter and I restore controlfile.*
    rman
    connect target /
    set DBID 3079749916
    startup nomount
    run {
    allocate CHANNEL CTAPE DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' PARMS'SBT_LIBRARY=oracle.disksbt,ENV=(BACKUP_DIR=f:\backup)';
    allocate channel CDISK DEVICE TYPE DISK;
    restore controlfile from 'f:\backup\78k91lrn_1_1';
    alter database mount;
    *5.Then I check the backup, crosscheck etc.*

    Hi,
    thanks for you quick answer. But I do restore to the local file system, even if the log says:
    restoring datafile 00001 to +DATA/agost/datafile/system.272.668509367
    restoring datafile 00002 to +DATA/agost/datafile/undotbs1.273.668509387 .....
    all the datafiles are correctly restored. I think oracle uses the parameter db_create_file_dest and creates the files there.
    I tried also the script with SET NEW NAME:
    run {
    Set newname for datafile 1 to 'e:\oradata\AGOST\system.272.668509367';
    Set newname for datafile 2 to 'e:\oradata\AGOST\undotbs1.273.668509387';

    use format command with backup.
    eg:-
    backup as compressed backupset database format '/u01/db/backup/%d_%I_%s_%T';
    if it is archivelog mode then
    backup as compressed backupset database format '/u01/db/backup/%d_%I_%s_%T' plus archivelog format '/u01/db/backup/%d_%I_%s_%T';
    then copy the backup to the auxiliary instance server.
    then try again the duplicate command.

  • RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile n found to restore

    Hi,
    on 11g R2 , Win 2008, I try to duplicate by RMAN NOCATALOG.
    In init.ora of auxiliary I have :
    init.ora
    db_file_name_convert=('m:\base\OLDDB\data','m:\base\NEWDB\data')
    log_file_name_convert=('m:\base\OLDDB\log', 'm:\base\NEWDB\log') 1- when duplicating RMAN displays :
    set newname for datafile  109 to
    "M:\BASES\OLDDB\DATA\EOIUAPP.DBF";; but for me reverse is expected since M:\BASES\OLDDB\DATA\EOIUAPP.DBF is the ancient/old name.
    2-RMAN displays :
    channel ORA_AUX_DISK_1: restoring datafile 00041 to M:\BASES\OLDDB\DATA\EOIUAPP.DBF But again the datafile should be restored to 'm:\base\NEWDB\data'.
    And also:

  • RMAN duplicate target database for standby from active fails to create newname for system tablespace/datafile

    When executing 'duplicate target database for standby from active'  the system tablespace/datafile (datafile 1)  is not cloned.  All other datafiles clone successfully.  The RMAN process aborts with the following errors while attempting to clone the system tablespace/datafile.
    ORA-19558: error de-allocating device
    ORA-19557: device error, device type: DISK, device name:
    ORA-17627: ORA-01041: internal error. hostdef extension doesn't exist
    ORA-17627: ORA-01041: internal error. hostdef extension doesn't exist
    ORA-03135: connection lost contact
    Here are the details:
    Primary is 11.2.0.2 RAC database  on an Exadata platform
    Standby is 11.2.0.2 Single Instance database (same patch level as primary) on a Red Hat Linux box
    This is an ASM to ASM duplication.
    This is not unique to this database.  We tried another database and go the same behavior - all datafiles clone successfully with the exception of the system tablespace/datafile.
    We have traced the RMAN execution and it seems to fail when it is trying to assign a NEWNAME to the system tablespace/datafile.
    We even issued an explicit SET NEWNAME command but RMAN ignored it.
    We also shutdown the primary and started is up in mount mode thinking that something had ahold of the System Tablespace/datafile.
    We also opened up the network firewall to allow permit any,any traffic.
    We increased the max_server_processes
    and added TCP.NODELAY=yes to the sqlnet.ora file.
    There seems to be some artifact present in our Primary System tablespace/data file that is preventing it form being cloned.
    checked all alert files grid, asm,  and dbhome - no abnormal messages.
    We are in the process of restoring the database from a backup but we would prefer to get this working using the 'Active Database' methodology

    I successfully created the standby database using RMAN backup and recovery.
    I started the managed recovery.  Archive logs are being sent from the primary to the standby ( I can see them in ASM), but the standby is not applying them.
    I get the following messages in the standby alert log...

    ANY IDEA /HINTS/TIPS ?
    I searched on google and somebody mentioned to a similar case that it could be a problem with 'CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP OFF' where as in my case i have set it to 'CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON'
    Somehow looks like that the control file is not having latest backup info ... :-( I already took a fresh backup 2 times and landed up in same issue.. not sure where i am doing a mistake.

  • RMAN restore from active database, ASM

    I'm attempting to refresh a stage database from a prod database using RMAN restore from active database. Both are on ASM. After working through various hurdles, I've got one issue I'm a bit stuck on. I've got a handful of data files that do NOT have OMF names (ie MSTRDATA/mstrmdpd/datafile/gsa_indx instead of MSTRDATA/mstrmdpd/datafile/gsa_indx.351.714779777) and these are failing when I do the restore. The syntax I'm using in RMAN is as follows:
    duplicate target database to dwstage
    from active database
    spfile parameter_value_convert 'dwprod','dwstage'
    SET DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT '+DWPROD','+DWSTAGE'
    SET LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT '+DWPROD','+DWSTAGE';
    The error message I'm getting is this:
    RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on ORA_DISK_1 channel at 04/21/2011 13:26:24
    ORA-17628: Oracle error 19505 returned by remote Oracle server
    continuing other job steps, job failed will not be re-run
    Normally from what I've seen/read this error can be traced back to needing to pre-create the directories for the controlfiles etc, but since 90% of the datafiles copied correctly...
    Any suggestions as to a way around this, or am I going to be forced to restore from a backupset?

    This fails saying that "ORA-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections" which is quite normal given that the listener is havig a handle in BLOCKED state for this AUXDB as it is in NOMOUNT state.
    Could you please help me on how to proceed?
    One option can be to create the controlfile manually and mount the instance before doing the duplicate. I hope Rman can continue from there.
    Another option is to go for backup based duplicate.
    Is there any other way to go?
    Provide static registration on AUXILIARY side for your auxiliary instance and try again.For example change listener.ora file as
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
      (SID_LIST =
        (SID_DESC =
          (GLOBAL_DBNAME = AUXDB)
          (ORACLE_HOME = <your oracle home>)
          (SID_NAME = AUXDB)
    LISTENER =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <auxiliary host/ip>)(PORT = 1521))
      )And restart listener on auxiliary host then try again

  • Rman, no datafile backup.

    Dear...
    I have one scenario.
    RMAN Backup - Yesterday.
    Datafile added today, and it lost in evening. How can one restore/recover datafile using RMAN, as datafile was not backed up in last RMAN backup.
    Version : 10.2.0.1.0

    10.2.0.3 - standby is physical
    I want to rman move datafile from ASM/DATA0 to ASM/DATA1.
    STANDBY_FILE_MANAGEMENT is AUTO
    So something like this
    #rman> copy '/DATA0/file.dbf' to '/DATA1/new_file.dbf';
    switch to copy new_file.dbf';
    Where, why, what , when , how in the standby server.
    1) Will the 'file copy' and 'switch to' be replicated to the standby site automatically??
    2) Will I have to replicate the commands of 'file copy' and 'switch to' the standby.
    The tablespace/datafile must be offlined which is fine but the database cannot be down.

    First conferm me?
    1. Your Physical Standby on Normal File System or ASM for ASM Primary?
    U have to use parameter on standby side:
    db_file_name_convert parameter ='+ASM/DATA0','+ASM/DATA1
