  • A possible bug in RMAN CATALOG command in 10g on Linux (SLES9 SP3)

    Hi,
I ran into this issue while using RMAN command "CATALOG DATAFILECOPY <filename> TAG <tagname>". In this instance, RMAN is actually trying to write 8K data at block 1. Since a copy is being cataloged, it doen't make any sense to modify it. Please note that this modification doesn't happen without TAG option. This behavious doesn't seem to be present on Oracle 9 on Solaris 8. For more details, please check the following thread:
    help with RMAN CATALOG command
    Thanks,
    Raghu.

    Hi Steve,
Unfortunately this is a bug, bug 3612370 in fact. I've published the bug so that it can be tracked via metalink if you have a support contract.
The bug is as you suspected with JDev's parse of the modules. We don't have a workaround at the moment but I'll post here again if we make any progress.
    Thanks for reporting this,

  • "Peer-switch" command on vPC domain and spanning-tree priority interaction

    Hi guy,
We have 2 N7K (N7KA and N7KB) which will be running vPC in hybird and pure vPC environment.
I have a question about the Hybird and pure vPC environment. With the "peer-switch" command enable, should i tune the spanning-tree priority to be the same for all the vlan running on vPC on both N7KA and N7KB? This way, when i enter the "sh spanning-tree vlan X(vPC vlan) detail" command on N7K, it will list both N7K announc itself as "We are the root of the spanning tree".Also the switch running spanning-tree with N7K vPC vlan (Hybird), will see both N7K has the same priority (4096), and it is not desirable for a spanning-tree environment. Therefore, i used the "spanning-tree pseudo-information" on N7KB to tune the spanning-tree priority to "8192" and the switch running spanning-tree with N7K will list N7KB has a priority of 8192(perfect).
However, I notice some strange "show" output on the switch running Port-channel with the N7KA and N7KB. The "Designated bridge" priority is flapping as show on the switch. It is constantly changing between "4096 and 8192" with the same vPC system wide mac address.
Entering the "sh spanning-tree vlan X detail" command repeatly on switch with port-channel toward N7KA and N7KB.
    >>sh spanning-tree vlan 10 detail

We have a issue similar to this in our environment. I am trying to upgrade the existing 3750 stack router with 2 Nexus 5596 running VPC between them. For the transition I have planned to create a channel between 3750 stack and 5596's. Once this environment is set, my plan is to migrate all the access switches to N5k.
The issue is when I connect the 3750 port channel to both N5Ks, all the Vlans on 3750 started to flap. If I connect the port channel to only one N5K everything is normal; but when I connect the port channel to both N5K running VPC, vlans are flapping. Any idea what is going wrong here? Am I missing something?

    Hello Experts ,
We have renamed the veritas volumes vol1 and vol2 of disk group "dg", which is under cluster control.
The renaming of volumes are successfully completed and modification updated in Cluster CCR (cldg sync dg) and volumes are mounted successfully in node002.

But what is device mtp0? It doesn't sound like a disk name. It is having SCSI problems. I don't know if these messages are relevant though.
I don't use VxVM as a rule, but your procedure seems reasonable to me.

  • RMAN's commands to check the datafiles for any sort of corruptions

what are RMAN's commands to check the datafiles for any sort of corruptions

RMAN is check database or backups here? i think its checking backups? and
You mean to say that its not checking the datafiles but the backup of them for corruption is it?If this is what you meant than I guess you haven't read teh link that I referred. From there,
When performing a BACKUP... VALIDATE, RMAN reads the files to be backed up in their entirety, as it would during a real backup. It does not, however, actually produce any backup sets or image copies. This command wont check the backups and neither its taking a backup. Its checking it for corruptions.
    [i]
    RMAN>backup validate database ;
not working when db is in no-archivelog mode
Are you trying to run it in the open stage ? If you are in Noarchive mode, you can't run backup related commands in open stage.Run it in the mount stage.

  • Frame-relay interface-dlci switched command

    Hi,
I want to understand the frame-relay interface-dlci switched command on router.
I know it is used for local switching, but what this command exectly does? is it emulating router to behave like a frame-relay switch for particular interfaces (not all interfaces)?
To use this command router serial interface needs to be have only layer 2 information or it can use that interface for layer 3 connectivity also?
    regards
    Devang Patel

    Hi,
    Thanks for your replies...
In FRoMPLS we use connect configuration on global configuration mode with xconnect command to configure FRoMPLS. then how frame-replay interface-dlci switched will work with FRoMPLS, will it add any additional feature to configuration? I am just trying to understand the use of this command.
will after putting this command i will have functionality to configure L2 and L3 VLAN configuration on same interface?
am i correct with my understanding posted in this reply as well as my initial post?
    thanks,
    Devang Patel

  • Does anybody know the itunes startup switches / command lines?

I have 2 itunes librarys and dont like having to hold Shift when I open itunes every time to switch itunes librarys.
I want to create 2 shortcuts to itunes on my desktop, each containing a switch / command line to open the desired library
Does anybody know what the switches / command lines are to startup itunes?

As far as I know, the only arguments iTunes.exe supports is a path to a file to start playing (music or video). You can't tell it via command-line switches to open a certain library.
I do however have a helper program that will do what you want. You give it the path to your library folder as an argument, so you have to create shortcuts to my exe, with the library folder as the argument.
For example, if the path to one of your iTunes Library is C:\library (i.e. inside C:\library is the file "iTunes Library.itl", the "iTunes Music" folder, etc.), then the shortcut target would be:<pre>C:\itunesopenlibrary.exe -b C:\library</pre>
The program works by editing the iTunes Prefs.xml directly, then starting iTunes. The -b switch is to make a backup of the prefs file before editing it. Note, however, that it only makes one backup; the next time you run itunesopenlibrary.exe with "-b", it will overwrite the last backup.
    Download the program here:
    http://mysite.verizon.net/teridon/itunesscripts/index.html#itunesopenlibrary
The forum TOS requires me to say: "I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link" because I have a paypal donation link on my webpage, but the program is free (donation totally optional)

    Rob

  • The RMAN Duplicate Command Fails During The Recover.

This exact script works fine in our lab. We are using Oracle 10.2.0.4.0.
The hot backup for standby is also a script which runs without error in both the lab and
    the production machine.
    I am obviously missing something.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think the issue is in your backup. If you compare your command with mine, you may or may not see the issue, but this is how I got this to work.

  • What exactly does the global switch command line do ?

    Hello All
Just foraging in the dark world of APP-V. I have a question which I cannot find answer for through google.
There are powershell commands to publish an APP-V application globally. What exactly does the global switch do ?
I understand it makes the application available to everyone on the machine for anyone who logs onto that machine.
However in the absence of this global switch the application is still available to all users who logon to that particular machine. So what exactly is the reason for using the global switch ?
    Thanks

Correct, the global switch makes the application accessable for all users logging on to that system.
This feature is required for some packages, like Office. But it is ofter used for applications used by everyone, like Adobe Reader.
However in the absence of this global switch the application is still available to all users who logon to that particular machine. So what exactly is the reason for using the global switch ?
A package can be added to the system but until it is published a user cannot start it. They won't see any shortcuts in their startmenu/desktop/etc.
So after you added the package to the system, it must be published to a user or globally (every user) to start it.

  • App switcher (command-tab) disappears

At random intervals my app switcher will misbehave. Sometimes it reuses to show at all when I press command-tab, although the app switch still takes place. Sometimes it will show on screen but there will only be one or two apps in the list even though I may have 10 open.
    Anyone experiencing this?
10.6.1. Been doing it since my initial install of 10.6.

How random? Can you work in Safe Mode for a while to test? (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)

  • Send a Switch command to Boolean

    Hello all,
I am trying to figure out how to send a command to a Boolean to make it switch based on a met condition.
What I have is a Button 1 that is going into a case statement in order to run a desired function. But I want to turn it off based on the conditions of another function, in this case a while loop running a mathematical function that stops when it meets the specified condition of less than 20.
When that happens I want to turn the Boolean button going into the case statement to False to stop the function inside the statement, but I also want the button to still have user control. This way the program will self monitor and but also be controllable. I have played around with a lot of options but haven't been able to figure one out.
    Any help is much appreciated.

Would be nice to see the VI in question.  There are various ways to remotely "turn on" a Boolean control -- one way is to create a Local Variable for the control (right-click the control, chose Local Variable), the other is to create a Property Node and wire to the Value property.
However, you say you want to change a Boolean button going into a case statement to stop the function inside the statement.  I'm not sure quite what you mean.  If you are already inside the Case statement, then changing the button won't change the behavior of the Case until the next time you execute it.

  • PARMS parameter in RMAN BACKUP Command

    Hi,
I am planning to use Backup application “OMNIBACK”.
This application uses RMAN internally to manage the backups.
The backups will goes to tape.
I am concerned about the PARMS parameter, which can be used in RMAN Command Syntax to associate the tape drive.
What Value I provide to PARMS parameter (Omniback)?
    For Example:
    run {
    allocate channel 'dev_0' type 'sbt_tape'
    parms 'ENV=
    Thanks
    Benazir

    Thanks ,
Could you please inform me about the "OB2APPNAME=RMAN81T", which we can find in following command.
Should it mandatory to give the db name to this parameter?
As well as the following variables. Are these variable work?
    s:%t:%p>.
    Thanks
    Benazir
    run {allocate channel 'dev_0' type 'sbt_tape' parms 'ENV=(OB2BARTYPE=Oracle8,OB2APPNAME=RMAN81T,OB2BARLIST=test_full)'; backup incremental level <incr_level> filesperset 1 format 'test_full<RMAN81T_%s:%t:%p>.dbf' database include current controlfile ; }
