  • RMI Connection Refused through Firewall

    Hi,
    I am having problems making an RMI connection through a firewall. On the server outside the firewall I have my servlet application running in an OC4J container and inside the firewall I have an EJB listening on port 6666. I have setup the firewall to allow connections through on port 6666. If I telnet from the machine outside the firewall on port 6666 I am able to make a connection to the EJB. So I know the firewall has been setup to handle the connection.
    I run the servlet application and when it tries to make the connection it gives an error:
    javax.naming.NamingException: Lookup error: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused; nested exception is:
    java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
    When I do a snoop on the external machine to see what data is trying to be sent to the internal machine there is no data. When doing the telnet test there was data.
    I have the same servlet application deployed on a machine internally and it is able to make a connection to the EJB. The only problem is either the configuration of the application server on the external machine or the firewall configuration.
    Anyone able to help me see what I am missing?
    Thanks
    Shawn Clark

    not sure what you mean by having a 'EJB listening' on port 6666. Do you mean actually having a socket listening within the EJB code? If so then that is a suspicious EJB activity.
    If not then i guess you mean the ORMI listening port of the OC4J application. This is normally set on port 23791 to allow the RMI communication to flow.

  • Not able to connect through IP address of own machine

    I am able to access IIS through localhost or 127.0.0.1. But I am unable to connect through machine's IP address.
    e.g. I can browse http://localhost:8080/<application>
    But unable to open through http://<local machine IP>:8080/<application>
    Please suggest......
    Thanks in advance
    Devi

    Do you have a proxy configured in your browser? If yes, add your machines address to the Exceptions list of the proxy (open the settings dialog of your webbrowser, look for connections or something and proxy - there should be some entry field containing at least "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" - add your IP there)

  • Port isolation between two SRW swiches connected through fiber?

    Hi guys,
    i have one SRW2024P connected through fiber to SRW2048. I would like to create isolated link between these two switches consisting of at least one isolated port at each switch. Can this SRWs do this?
    Alternatively i need on the SRW2048 side few PoE ports so do you know any 16+ port PoE switch that can do this?
    THX for answer.

    Do you mean you want a port on each switch to be able to communicate with each other but not with any other ports on the switches ?
    i.e PC host at 192.168.1.3 on  port 2 on switch 1,  to be able to ping  a IP host at 192.18.1.2 on  switch 2 port 3 ?
    If this sort of functionality is required you want to create a new vlan to the switch.  If it is not the case please explain in more detail what you want and ignore the following.
    regards Dave
    Om my srw2008P i would do the following, i guess your interface is almost identical to my switch GUI interface.
    step 1  create a vlan, maybe vlan 2
    [make sure you scroll down to the bottom of the page at each step and save changes]
    step 2. alter alter port x to be a untagged member of vlan 2
    step 3 modify the vlan interface setting  on both switches to make the fiber uplink port a trunk in vlan 2.

    There are two iMacs connected through same router in my house but one refuses to login to facebook and other logged in sites. Local techies are bemused, I have just reinstalled OSX and still have the problem. Login page recycles, I get no further and no errors reported. Safari, Opera and Firefox. Deleted cookies and chain but still no action.

    If you have not already done so, read the router's user manual troubleshooting section and/or contact its customer service department/forums.
    If still having problems, post back w/details of all you have tried to resolve the problems along w/the troubleshooting solutions that the "local techies" had you try.

  • WRT54GL internet connection through DHCP

    I'm having problems connecting my modem (D-Link DSL-320B) with my router (WRT54GL).
    If I connect my modem with my PC I have an internet connection. The modem authenticates to my ISP and has an DHCP server running on the LAN port. So far this is the only way I can get an internet connection. I can't use bridge mode because my ISP doesn't support it.
    I want to route my internet traffic through my router (QoS and other stuff).
    On the router I can switch to DHCP on the WAN port. Then the router receives internet IP address, DNS server and so on. I see that on the web interface. The problem is PC's connected to the router have no internet connection.
    The strange thing is that I can't get internet connectivity from the router either. Ping and trace from the router itself can't reach the target, not even the modem.
    Modem (D-Link DSL-320B)
    Connection Type: PPPoA VC-Mux
    IP Address: 212.183.47.126
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255
    Default Gateway: 62.47.95.239
    Preferred DNS Server: 195.3.96.67
    Alternate DNS Server: 213.33.98.136
    LAN
    IP Address: 192.168.2.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.252
    DHCP Server: ON
    Router (WRT54GL)
    Connection Type: DHCP
    IP Address: 212.183.47.126
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255
    Gateway: 192.168.2.1
    DNS: 195.3.96.67, 213.33.98.136
    Status: Connected
    Router IP Address: 192.168.1.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    DHCP: 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.149
    I have read other threads but found no solutions to my problem.
    There are two DHCP server connected after each other but they are in different networks so that shouldn't be a problem.
    I want to handle my router the internet traffic because I want to use QoS and some other stuff.
    Has anybody an idea that to do?

    Thanks for the idea, it just doesn't work.
    I turned of the DHCP on the router and changed the IP address. Also I changed the subnet mask on the modem to 255.255.255.0 to allow more clients.
    As a result PCs don't get an IP address automatically anymore. So I configured the IP manually on my PC.
    Still no internet connection.
    Your solution works if I connect the modem to a LAN port of the router. Then the router is acting as a switch, and all internet traffic is handled by the modem (the modem is also acting as DHCP server for the entire network).
    A working solution but just not the solution I want, sorry (I want my router to handle internet traffic for QoS and some other stuff).

  • Can RMI get through firewall?

    my java applet will have to communicate with SAP server using JCO
    so the applet connects to an RMI server then the RMI server connects to SAP server.
    in between applet and RMI server there is a firewall. will RMI get through firewall?

    The answer is "maybe". It depends on
    o How the service is coded. Probably has to be written to communicate using a fixed port number, rather than randomly assigned. (Most firewalls allow access to only specified ports.)
    o Changing the firewall settings.
    o Whether or not your server tries to call back the client, and whether the client is also behind a fireall. If these two details are both true, then you are probably dead in the water.
    There are HTTP tunelling techniques for getting through firewalls. Haven't used them, but if you look back through this forum you'll probbly find some info.

  • FF connects to several IP addresses on start-up, how to prevent it from happening?

    Hi, I am wondering how I can turn Firefox off from connecting to several IP addresses when it starts up?
    I have set Firefox to remember my visited web pages/tabs, but to not load until the tab is chosen.
    I have also gone through the advices on the following page:
    http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-automatically-making-connections
    and have followed it carefully and disabled everything but to no avail.
    Also in the about:config I have renamed all Google http(s) links to see if it prevents FF from connecting as some of the IP addresses leads to Google (173.194.32.*), but no success.
    A search here on Mozilla or Google gives very little on this particular matter.
    I have also disabled all addons but doesn't help.
    The only way to prevent FF from connecting with internet is to delete "prefs.js" and "sessionstore.js", but then I loose all history.
    I have also used a clean FF installation and taken the "prefs.js" and "sessionstore.js" so to not loose history, but it doesn't help.
    Can anyone help me out, thanks!

    Ok, I have now installed an original version of Firefox 13.0.1, set it up with a basic set of few add-ons for safe browsing being as follow:
    * NoScript
    * RequestPolicy
    * BetterPrivacy
    * HTTPS Everywhere
    In all cases described below, I browsed to a few pages, afterwards I go to an empty page/tab (about:newtab) before I close the browser, and is set to: "browser.newtabpage.enabled;false" in the hope also a newtab should be empty.
    I also followed the instructions under the following link: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-stop-firefox-automatically-making-connections
    * further on I have disabled a few other things under about:config to stop this "leak", such as webGL, telemetry, rename all google links, etc.
    1st test
    * I did restart in Off-line mode as described under the link given by jscher2000, when restarting the firewall shows no sign of connection to the internet, not even when I toggle from off-line to on-line.
    2nd test
    * with all add-ons enabled, I got the following result, see below for the list of IP numbers/info:
    * 212.121.101.7 Server Location: Netherlands ISP: Routit BV
    * 173.194.32.0 Server Location: Mountain View, CA in United States ISP: Google
    * 173.194.32.4 Server Location: Mountain View, CA in United States ISP: Google
    * 95.100.4.61 Server Location: Europe ISP: Akamai International B.V.
    * 192.150.19.49 Server Location: San Jose, CA in United States ISP: Adobe Systems
    * 78.129.207.59 Server Location: United Kingdom ISP: Iomart Hosting Limited
    * 69.50.232.54 Server Location: San Jose, CA in United States ISP: Silicon Valley Web Hosting
    * 82.103.140.42 Server Location: Denmark ISP: EasySpeedy ApS
    3rd test
    * I disabled all add-ons and closed browser, and started again, same result as in 2nd test, except that 212.121.101.7 was replaced by
    * 37.0.87.7 Server Location: Netherlands ISP: Routit BV .
    As this behavior has apparently nothing to do whether it's portable or non-portable version of Firefox, one can assume it has always been like this as at least between all versions from 13.0.1 to 19.0.2, as the portable version 19.0.2 behaves the same way.
    Let us not forget another user have experienced apparently the same issue under the following link: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/930187
    Any more ideas how the browser user can take control over this behavior, or any suggestions what could be wrong?

  • How can i airplay from my mac connected through ethernet to an aple tv 2 on wifi

    Hi everyone..
    im having troubles using Airplay on my mac.. i connect my mac to the internet and home network using an ethernet connection to my router (non apple branded router) .. my apple tv 2  is connected to my home wifi network from the same router.. when i first set up my apple tv.. i was able to see the Airplay icon on itunes and it would let me Airplay media from my mac to my apple tv.. however.. it disconnects after a little while.. same thing with viewing my itunes library from apple tv.. i was able to detect my shared library from the apple tv.. i was able to play some media but then it disconnected after some time.. but now.. the Airplay icon doesnt show up in itunes anymore.. and i cant see my shared library from my apple tv neither.. ive looked around for a solution and followed the tip to turn the ipv6 off.. it worked for some time but now the problem is back..
    i know the obvious solution is to connect my mac to the same wireless network as my apple tv.. but i would like to keep it connected through ethernet..
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4
    Apple TV 2 software version 4.4.4
    Thanks in advance

    ......i know the obvious solution is to connect my mac to the same wireless network as my apple tv.. but i would like to keep it connected through ethernet.........
    I wouldn't say that was the obvious answer at all, my Mac is connected by ethernet and 6 of my 7 Apple TV's are connected by wifi, I haven't had any of your problems. The problem is most likely on your network.
    Intermittent problems
    Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
    You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
    Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
    There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
    Consistent Problems
    A frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is the service being blocked on the network. Make sure your network isn't hidden, has a unique name, that MAC address authentication is disabled, security is set to use WPA 2 Personal and that there is only one router/device acting as a DHCP server and providing NAT services.
    Make sure your router/computer allows access over the following ports
    Port
    Type
    Protocol
    Used By
    80
    TCP
    HTTP
    AirPlay
    443
    TCP
    HTTPS
    AirPlay
    554
    TCP/UDP
    RTSP
    AirPlay
    3689
    TCP
    DAAP
    iTunes/AirPlay
    5297
    TCP
    Bonjour
    5289
    TCP/UDP
    Bonjour
    5353
    TCP/UDP
    MDNS
    Bonjour/AirPlay
    49159
    UDP
    MDNS (Win)
    Bonjour/AirPlay
    49163
    UDP
    MDNS (Win)
    Bonjour/AirPlay
    Refer to your router manual/manufacturer for any settings that are specific to that model.
    Another frequent cause of consistent failure to enable AirPlay or HomeSharing at all, is security software, in many cases configuring it correctly, disabling it or even uninstalling it can help, but in some cases the security software can cause problems that simply reconfiguring, disabling or uninstalling cannot reverse.
    If you are consistently unable to activate AirPlay, have tried all the steps in this article and have security software installed on your system, you might benefit from contacting its provider or participating in any online forums they run to discuss the matter with them.

  • Getting Creative Zen player to connect through amarok [SOLVED]

    Edited 12-27 to include new info
    I'm trying to get myCreative Zen player to connect through amarok but am having some problems. After some looking around I figured out the libmtp in the extra repository doesn't support this player, but the newest versions do. I made a new package for libmtp-0.2.4 and installed it since there's been some tweaks that affect this player since 0.2.2 which is in testing. I also had to recompile amarok since one of libs changed a name with the new libmtp. The instructions from libmtp mentioned udev rules needed to be defined, which was done by copying a file from the source code into /etc/udev/rules.d. That file (minus the parts relating to other players, which is pretty much the same as here):
    # UDEV-style hotplug map for libmtp
    # Put this file in /etc/udev/rules.d
    ACTION!="add", GOTO="libmtp_rules_end"
    ATTR{dev}!="?*", GOTO="libmtp_rules_end"
    SUBSYSTEM=="usb", GOTO="libmtp_usb_rules"
    # The following thing will be deprecated when older kernels are phased out.
    SUBSYSTEM=="usb_device", GOTO="libmtp_usb_device_rules"
    GOTO="libmtp_rules_end"
    LABEL="libmtp_usb_rules"
    # Creative ZEN 8GB
    ATTR{idVendor}=="041e", ATTR{idProduct}=="4157", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="666"
    GOTO="libmtp_rules_end"
    LABEL="libmtp_usb_device_rules"
    # Creative ZEN 8GB
    ATTRS{idVendor}=="041e", ATTRS{idProduct}=="4157", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="666"
    GOTO="libmtp_rules_end"
    LABEL="libmtp_rules_end"
    When I plug the player to my usb port dmesg gives
    usb 5-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 8
    usb 5-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
    As my normal user amarok doesn't seem to recognize anything, and mtp-detect gives:
    libmtp version: 0.2.4
    Attempting to connect device(s)
    usb_claim_interface(): Operation not permitted
    LIBMTP PANIC: Unable to initialize device 1
    LIBMTP PANIC: configure_usb_devices() error code: 7 on line 1561
    Detect: There has been an error connecting. Exiting
    As root mtp-detect gives me a bunch of output that seems like it's doing what it should, also while it's spitting this out the screen on the player changes to say it's docked, which wasn't happening as the normal user. This makes me think it's some permissions issue. I did find things from google telling me that sometimes the user needs to be added to a certain group to use libmtp, though it seemed somewhat distro dependent. My main user is in the following groups: dbus hal network audio optical storage scanner camera users thinkpad
    However I don't think my problems are solely permission related, since even as root amarok won't recognize the player. I can use gnomad2 as root, which mostly works, though it crashes when I try and close gnomad after adding music and the player thinks it's still docked even after unplugging it. I had to use a pin to reset it just to turn it off. When I ran it from a console I got the following output at the end after the crash
    PTP: Closing session
    ERROR: Could not close session!
    inep: usb_get_endpoint_status(): Protocol error
    outep: usb_get_endpoint_status(): No such device
    usb_clear_halt() on IN endpoint: No such device
    usb_clear_halt() on OUT endpoint: No such device
    usb_clear_halt() on INTERRUPT endpoint: No such device
    The application 'gnomad2' lost its connection to the display :0.0;
    most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed
    the application.
    Any suggestions for where to go from here?

    I tried uploading onto my school website, but it doesn't seem accessable from there. However I just modified the version number from the regular Pkgbuild file from abs. What I have is:

    I've been meaning to post an update about my issues. I've figured out that when I connect the player it creates device nodes with the root group.  Some have permissions set to 666, which seems to fit with the udev rules I posted. But some of them are only rw for owner and group, others only have read permissions. As a test I tried changing the permissions by hand to 666, and I can use gnomad as my regular user, though it's buggy and seems to crash randomly (not just when I transfer files like I originally thought). I haven't been able to test what amarok does, since for some reason it stopped working this weekend and I haven't had a chance to figure out what happened. It seems there some problem with the udev rules, but I don't know much about how that works to figure out what's going wrong.

  • TNSPING failure and but surprising connecting through SQL*PLUS

    I have Oracle 9i and Oracle 10g express edition installed on my local machine.But since in the path i specified path of Oracle10g first so always tnsnames.ora got picked up from Oracl10g directory which is
         C:\softwares\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\network\admin\sqlnet.ora
    Following are the contents of my sqlnet.ora :--->
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
    Following are the contents of my tnsnames.ora:-->
    CCTD91 =(DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = cctdev91.jankoc.com)(PORT = 1521)))(CONNECT_DATA =(SERVICE_NAME = CCTD91)))
    Now when i am doing tnsping to this i got the error as:
    C:\>tnsping cctd91
    TNS Ping Utility for 32-bit Windows: Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on 23-APR-2011 16:08:52
    Copyright (c) 1997, 2005, Oracle. All rights reserved.
    Used parameter files:
    C:\softwares\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\network\admin\sqlnet.ora
    TNS-03505: Failed to resolve name
    But when i connect through Oracle 9i client(SQL*Plus) like peter/devworks@CCTD91, then i am able to connect successfully to Oracle 11g.
    Could someone let me know why TNSPING is failing for this and then still why i am able to connect thru SQL*PLUS using the name defined in TNSNAMES.ORA. ?

    sqlnet.ora is having just one line:
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
    I tried by adding another line: NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH=(TNSNAMES) but did not make any difference so i removed.

  • Sharing Ethernet Connection Through Airport

    Is it possible to share your Ethernet connection through airport so that two computers can connect to a single connection without the need of a wireless router? I know that this is possible on XP, but I am somewhat new with OS X and cannot seem to figure it out. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Open the Sharing preference, click on the Internet tab, select the connection to share from the drop down menu, then check the ports that will share the connection.
    You will find additional info by selecting Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and searching on the appropriate term.

    The reward system helps to increase community participation. When a community member gives you (or another member) a reward for providing helpful advice or a solution to their question, your accumulated points will increase your status level within the community.
    Members may reward you with 5 points if they deem that your reply is helpful and 10 points if you post a solution to their issue. Likewise, when you mark a reply as Helpful or Solved in your own created topic, you will be awarding the respondent with the same point values.

    Hi ,
    As far i know it is not possible to have two different address for the same company code.As table can hold only single unique data.
    As far as the above answer is concerned, we use International version fo Customers not for Company Codes.
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks and Regards

  • My backup to Time Capsule is taking over 4 million days. How can I shorten the time? I am not able to connect through ethernet. How do I fix this?

    My backup to Time Capsule is taking over 4 million days. How can I shorten the time? I am not able to connect through ethernet. How do I fix this?
    Not only that but my Mac Pro keep running and does not stop, my Address book has a blue light under it but wont open, the light for my monitor in the bottom right corner wont turn on or off. Please need help...

    It sounds like there is an issue with the Mac itself.
    Use the verify disk A5 in troubleshooting.
    http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
    Even if you cannot connect by ethernet, at current location.. you can simply disconnect the TC from the network and bring it to the Mac and plug it in by ethernet. The TC can be reset if you haven't got a suitable current setup (save previous setup before you change it) and run just as backup device.. do the backup and then return it to the network.
    If this is just a standard incremental backup.. then something has broken. The issue is not the TC pe se but failure in hardware somewhere.
