Robohelp 8: need advise on implementation procedure

Hi,
Currently, we have a lot of word, pdf and Excel files and plan to migrate to RoboHelp. What migration path/aproach would you suggest:
- Moving all files to Robohelp. Then question is how to move content from PDF and Excel files.
- Leaving files as they are, and only making links to files. Then question is how can I create search by the content inside files?
- Any other aproaches?

Hi mvi-2 and welcome to the RH community.
Only you will be able to make the final decision over the best approach as "we" don't know your requirements. However you raise some interesting point to consider. If you link to the Word, Excel and PDF files, their contents will not be searchable from within the RH output. You could reduce the impact of this bu ensuring the topic that contains the links to the files has a good summary of the file contents.
You also need to consider where the files reside and whether they are being updated. In order words, will the link require your user to access thevery latest version of the file. If so, the link would have to use an absolute path. This is slightly more problematic as the file location could move causing broken links and further changes to your project. You may also need to consider read/write access to the files (i.e. do you want your users to be able to edit the files). If so, what about concurrent usage.
You could import the file into the RH project (adding it to the baggage). This way it forms an integral part of the project. The downsides of this is that if updates are made to them you have to readd them to the project to pick tem up. Your overall project file size also increases.
Hope some of this helps you make a decision.

    Problem Summary :-
    Our client(say "X") is contracted to perform certain business functions for their client (Say"Y")
    Say "X" is do sourcing (RFP,RFQ) functions till PO creation,receiving in a excel based custom application ( Not through oracle EBS) for client "Y".
    So "X" is not responsible for paying for those services and "Y" pays for those receipts.
    We want to implement Oracle EBS Advance procurement solution for their above functions and replace the custom application processes.
    But client "X" is not accepting advance procurement solution as they("X") are not paying for the services and they don't want to fit this solution in Oracle EBS as this may cause legal issues.
    Questions:-
    1. Whats the best design solution for this type of scenario to fit the custom process into Oracle EBS procurement ?
    2. Can we follow the sourcing implementation process(RFQ/RFP)-> PO Creation-> PO receipts-> AP Invoice matching in Oracle EBS and is there a way to nullify this transaction in Oracle so      that there will not be any legal issues? May be creating credit memo/AR invoice etc...

    1. After step 5(Supplier sends the invoice to OU2) who will do the payment for supplier and what's the process?
    2. I could see the intercompany invoice process in further steps which creates invoices, but not sure on how supplier payments are paid.
       In which step the paymens(Supplier, Intercompany) are processed.

  • SD Process Design for Plantation industry - need advise

    Hi all experts,
    I am implementing for a crude palm oil plantation company, in which the general flow of the sales process from Estate to the Milling Plant is as below:
    Sales Order --> Delivery Order* --> PGI --> Billing*
    Sales Order: The fresh fruit bunches (FFB) is harvested and then the amount required by the Buyer is fulfilled via creation of a sales order.
    Delivery Order: At this stage, it will interface with the Weighbridge system to carry out the recording of delivery quantity. Truck without the FFB is weighed once at entrance of the estate, and truck with FFB is weighed at exit at estate.
    PGI: Goods Issue is carried out with the recording of the actual quantity from the weighbridge interface back to SAP.
    Billing: The billing doc is created based on PGI quantity done.
    This looks pretty straightforward, but there are few concerns from the above process as highlighted in the asterisk (*) section:
    Issues:
    1. During the Delivery portion, data of the Driver, name, person loading and weight loaded need to be recorded at the same time to carry out the incentive payment to the drivers (both internal and external drivers) with incentives calculated on per tonnage basis.
    2. Secondly, during Billing process, the amount payable would be calculated based on the grading of the FFB + the which year the FFB is planted (i.e. different year would have different pricing per ton).
    Need advise on how to make the above two issues work smoothly along with the process above.
    Opinion, comments and feedbacks is much appreciated.

    The loader and driver data is integrated to PP and the HR master module is leveraged to maintain driver/loader data master and payment is made to driver via customized program with customised calculation of salary.
    The FFB is handled using PP module for Production and material posted via MIGO in MM and increases stock take manually.
    SD to handle sales of finished goods instead..

    I have run through all the documents regarding HR BIS. But I could not get clear picture of this product. I have few questions mentioned below, could someone answer these please ?
    1. Is it advisable to implement this product for big organizations / clients (who have more than 50,000 employees) ?
    2. Is this good in performance while running the report for huge amount of data ?
    3. Can we run multiple reports at a time for different departments' level ?
    4. Does Oracle provide support if we customize the reports as per our requirements ? or is it the same as proffessional applications ?

    Personally, if you have more than 50,000 employees I would not use the out of the box HR BIS. In my opinion, and actually the opinion of a lot of my clients, most of the views that comprise the E-Business Suite BIS are too cumbersome and join to far too many tables. Its because they try to be like a jack of all trades, covering all eventualities, which means that they don't master anything. If you have a lot of data, which you will if you have 50,000 employees, the code will be slow to execute and you will find that the code does not meet all of your needs. I know Oracle don't like me saying this but that's what my clients say.
    Now the E-Business Suite itself is excellent and I would fully endorse its use. For reporting I wouldn't even customize. I would employ someone who knows what they are doing and create a business area and set of folders that give you exactly what you want. In the right hands such a business area could be completed in a couple of months with one, perhaps two consultants working on site. This is a very cost-effective solution for an organization of your size.
    If you have no experience of Discoverer, I would not recommend you try building this yourself. You need to employ the services of an expert and then take over a fully working EUL when they leave.
    There are several good people in this forum who could help. My company is are one of them and we have done this before but we are not the only ones.     I think the answer to question 2 is partly covered in the above, and partly covered by the second paragraph to answer 3 below.
    To answer another of your questions:
    3. Can we run multiple reports at a time for different departments' level ?Absolutely. Discoverer is a great tool and can handle a scenario like this with no problem whatsoever. The power of the system should be in the database and in the Discoverer server, so don't underpower yourself in either of these areas. Discoverer is extremely flexible and you can use load balancing to hook multiple Discoverer servers together if need be.
    One area where you may have some issues is if you place a large number of Discoverer users onto the same production database as E-Business Suite. Because that database was not designed with reporting in mind, it is very common for heavy Discoverer usage to have a negative impact on your transaction system. In the short term you should be ok using Discoverer on the main server, especially if you employ some techniques such as materialized views, partitions and a virtual private database. In the medium term you might want to consider using a snapshot of production to get the Discoverer usage off the main server. Longer term you will probably be looking at some sort of operation data store or even data warehouse.
    4. Does Oracle provide support if we customize the reports as per our requirements ? or is it the same as proffessional applications ?
    No, Oracle does not provide support if you customize their BIS modules. You would be on your own. The code is hard to work with and because you will need to customize, I don't advise you basing your custom reporting system on their code. As I mentioned before, you will be far better off having someone come in and build you the custom EUL that you need.

  • Need Advise on Global Temporary tables or Materialized views or Views

    Need advise on a plsql procedure working on.
    I had 6 tables having 200,000 rows in total intially,but will get added a maximum 20,000 rows daily by a batch process.
    I am writing a plsql code that takes an input ,for example customer_id, and is required to get all the data for that customer_id and
    had to do some complex calculation that includes stepwise validations before giving the output.Now while doing the logic it has the get the data for that customer_id from all the tables.
    There may be 100 records for that particular customer_id.
    I need advise on the below options.
    1.Use of global temporary tables get those 100 records and do the calculation part on that Global Temporary table.
    2.Use of Views or Materialized views.
    3.Using the Record Structures(like table types for those records) and then do the logic on them
    As Performance is the key point here i would like pull all the data at once into memory and then do the calculations instead of hitting the database many times, this is my main idea(correct me if am wrong).Also please advise if there are any other options

    The approach that many advocate for here (including myself) is to do as much in SQL as possible. So, copying to GTTs or using record structures is probably not the solution you should be after.
    If you can provide the following details we may be able to steer you down the right path
    1. Oracle version (SELECT * FROM V$VERSION)
    2. Sample data in the form of CREATE / INSERT statements.
    3. Expected output
    4. Explanation of expected output (A.K.A. "business logic")
    5. Use \ tags for #2 and #3. See FAQ (Link on top right side) for details.
    Ideally try and re-create the problem, simplifying it as much as possible, without losing context. Use #1-#5 above as a base for posting your simplified problem here.     Software ask for permission to install , and about 30 % in , my instinct was telling me , there is something not right . I stop installation . Delete everything , look for any
    trace in Spotlight , Library . Nothing could be find .
    Now , every time I open Safari , Firefox or Chrome , it will open in my home page , but when I start looking for something in steed of Google page , there is
    ''search.genieo.com'' page acting like a Google . I try again to get raid of this but I can not find solution .
    With more research , again using genieo.com search eng. there is lots of articles and warnings . From that I learn do not use uninstall software , because doing this will install more things where it come from.
    I do have AppleCare support but its to late to phone them , so maybe there some people with knowledge , how to get this of my computer

    Genieo definitely doesn't help with your router. It's just adware, and has no benefit to you at all. They scammed you so that they could display their ads on your computer.

    If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a previous owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. This is a security feature that prevents thieves from setting up and using a stolen or lost iPad or iPhone. You have no alternative. You must use the previous owner's password to get permission to use the device. If you cannot get the password your father put on the iPad you will never be able to activate the device and no one can help you do it.

    For this I need to Implement the BADI BADI ME_GUI_PO_CUST.
    The Method which needs to be Implemented is : TRANSPORT_TO_DYNP.
    Instructions have been given for the Screen design.
    Can anyone help me (with the sample code how) to Implement this method of the BADI in SE19.
    This BADI method is taking a view as an Input and I am not understanding how to proceed.

    my suggestion is to check the standard documentation of the interface IF_EX_ME_GUI_PO_CUST.
    After that you can check the method IF_EX_ME_GUI_PO_CUST~TRANSPORT_TO_DYNP in the example implementation class CL_EXM_IM_ME_GUI_PO_CUST.

    You have hardcoded your IN LIST in the REM procedure. I recommend changing the code to take a variable number of inputs. You could do something like the following:

    I can help. There is no full feature software and driver available from HP, but the OS X v10.9 Mavericks driver for your printer is available through Apple Software Update (ASU).
    With this driver you can still print and scan, you just wont have HP software to scan from. Scanning to the computer from the printer control panel is only available when using HP Scan software, thus it will not work because there is no HP scan software as apart of the Apple Software Update driver.
    Instead, you can scan using,
    Method one: Scan from the Print & Scan window   
    Method two: Scan from Apple Preview
    Method three: Scan from Apple Image Capture

    Before you sell or give away your computer, in addition to the steps listed in this support article, take these steps:
    1. Run Apple Diagnostics or the Apple Hardware Test. The buyer will do this (or he should), and you don't want to be surprised by the results.
    2. Reset the PRAM and the SMC, which might contain personal information.
    3. If you set a firmware password, remove it by running Firmware Password Utility in Recovery mode.
    4. If you activated FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, turn it off.
    5. If you use Boot Camp, the partition must be deleted.
    6. If you created any other data partitions on the internal drive, remove them in Disk Utility.
    7. If the machine has an internal hard drive, erase the one remaining data partition with the option to zero out data. An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
    You can't legally or practically transfer any software downloaded from the Mac App Store to the new owner of the machine, even if it was free. That includes OS X, so if you upgraded to OS X 10.7 or later, you must reinstall an older OS, either from the installation media, if applicable, or by starting up in Internet Recovery mode (option-command-R at the startup chime.) If you installed from physical media, deliver those to the new owner.
    If you're selling the machine, or donating it in working order, and it originally shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, then you have the option of installing either from the discs that came with it or from a retail Snow Leopard disc (which you must then transfer to the buyer.) The buyer should understand that if he doesn't get the original discs from you, he won't get the bundled iLife applications or the Apple Hardware Test. Replacements for the original discs can be ordered from Apple.
    The new owner will have to redownload any software that came from the App Store, including OS X upgrades, under his or her Apple ID. If you ever updated the bundled iLife applications (Garage Band, iMovie, and iPhoto) through the App Store, you can't transfer those either. The buyer will have to purchase them.
    Remove the machine from your list of registered products. If it's still covered by an AppleCare Protection Plan, transfer the coverage to the new owner by following the instructions in the AppleCare Terms and Conditions (under the heading "Transfer of Plan.")

  • Is notes 1170688 needs to be implemented in both BW and R/3?

    While executing an infopackage, the error " R3 016 "DataSource &1 has to be replicated (time stamp, see long text)" occurs. After investigation, we found notes 1170688 may fix this problem. After the notes been implemented, we did see the relevant code is changed, but we still cannot extract data.
    My question is: Is this notes also need to be implemented in R/3? Currently, we only do this in BW system.

    Thanks for replying. From the note, we see the affected release are SAP_BW and SAP_BW_VIRTUAL_COMP. Seems not effect to ecc.
    Actually, the thing is to implement a notes into R/3 will trigger a complex process in our side even in non-production system. So we just want to make sure if it is fully necessary, then can trigger the process.

    Afraid Compressor won't work with MKV. If you have access to a system running an earlier version than Mavericks, and with Perian installed you can use MPEG Streamclip or Quick Time Pro to convert to a mov.

    I need to create a procedure, which first checks the tables and then drop those tables if find in the database. For example, I have 5 tables, then my procedure should first checks the existence , then drop all those 5 tables from the database.     Dropping 5 tables each time user hits the report!!! (According to my understanding)
    I would like to share my experience. My group developed many complex reports, we used oracle jobs to run the complex queries time to time, according to our business requirements and stored the result in a final table. Just for viewing at front end level, we used a simple select statement.
