Hi,
Switching on or off a bpel is an admin job.
u can stop an application but not one bpel.
I doubt if there is any way to do it programatically.

I have found some hints by google, but nothing really helpfull.
Has anyone had a simular problem when installing SQL server 2008 R2?
All posts I found are about sql server 2008 (no R2!).
The cluster itself is working (storage, network, msdtc, quorum...).
Any hints?

Please make sure that the Virtual Server Name ‘CLUSTER02’ is unique on the network. In addition, are there any resources named ‘SQL Server’ on the Windows cluster? If that is the case, you may need to rename the related resources to avoid conflicting with

Problem with calling AQ JMS Adapter with Asynchronous BPEL Process

I have a AQ JMS Adapter and i'm invoking the adapter in my BPEL process.
I'm passing an xml as payload to AQ JMS adapter. When i post the xml in the BPEL Control, i'm getting the follwoing message:
"Cannot find the specified instance". I have tried 3-4 times but getting same message all the time.
However, i'm able to publish xml to JMS Topic with synchronous BPEL process.
I want to use asynchronous BPLE process.
Please let me know if there is a way to overcome this issue.

WS-Security with Oracle BPEL

Is it possible to apply WS-Policy or encryption with Oracle BPEL without uing web services manager.
So if a BPEL process is exposed as a web service then how do I apply WS-Policy etc on that web services ?

I don't know anything about WS-Policy support in BPEL or WSM, but regarding WS-Security aspects like encryption/decryption, certificates, etc, I can tell you the following:
1 - If your BPEL Process needs to call a web service and pass WS-Security credentials through a partner link, I only know about (and it seems the only option) sending WS-Security username/password authentication

For the other features like encryption and certificates, I have only used web services manager gateway so far.
2 - All Web Services exposed by your Oracle Application Server (be it a BPEL Process or any other web service) can have an interceptor configuration to validate certificates, apply decryption, etc, when a message arrives. You can verify this by going to your Application Server Control Console->Your OC4J->Web Services->Your Web Service->Administration->Security
3 - If you need to pass WS-Security information when calling your BPEL Processes from an application, you can protect your BPEL process as described in step 2, and then use JDeveloper to configure a web service proxy that encrypts or put certificates in your messages, also using an interceptor mechanism. After creating your web service proxy, right click it and Select the option "Secure Proxy" option.

Actually i developed an example synchronous BPEL process but while invoking decision service it generated an error stating RECEIVE TIMEOUT fault. But when i created identical process in ASYNCHRONOUS mode it went through without any error.

Execute a mapping deployed with OWB 9.0.4 from SQL*Plus

I could execute a mapping designed with OWB 9.0.3 from SQL*Plus with the next sentence:
SQL> exec my_mapping.main;
But now, with OWB 9.0.4, mappings are deployed as functions (in 9.0.3 were deployed as procedures) and they need parameters.
Somebody know how I can execute deployed mappings with OWB 9.0.4 from SQL*Plus? I don't know the parameters I need to call a mapping.

Well, I've solved the problem with roles but
I've executed the script called sqlplus_exec_template.sql and it fails at Stage 2 because the next sentence
l_audit_execution_id := wb_rt_api_exec.open(l_task_type, l_task_name, l_location_name);
returns me NULL.
It is not clear the value that the variable called l_location_name have to stored. The script explain that this variable store the physical name of the
location to which the task was deployed. I understand that this variable have to store the schema where the mapping was deployed. That's right?
So I called the script in this manner:
SQL> @sqlplus_exec_template OWBRUN904I OJBHT PLSQL MY_MAPPING "," "," ;
where OWBRUN904I is the name of the Runtime Repository Schema, OJBHT is the
schema where MY_MAPPING is deployed, PLSQL is the task type and MY_MAPPING is
the name of the mapping I've designed.
Can you tell me why the scripts fails?

Solid understanding in developing Service Oriented Applications.
Good understanding of web services and SOAP protocol.
Commanding knowledge in XML technologies like XSD, XPath, XSL
Experience with Oracle BPEL Process Manager and developing applications using BPEL
Basic Knowledge/Working experience in Java would be nice.
Apart from these, it's good to have experience in the external systems that you are trying to orchestrate with BPEL. For e.g If your application integrates with Oracle EBS. It's good to have integration experience with EBS.

Three simple steps you need to do :
1) Generate proxy for your bpel process in Jdeveloper.
2)Create simple ADF page with 2 input for taking value and a input for showing the result and one command button.
3) In backing bean on command button action, get value from two inputs, pass the in the proxy service and update the the the third input with the result of service.

Unique rollback in a BPEL process using web services

We are a cellular communication company using Oracle DB (10g) and Oracle Forms to run our business applications (customer care and the like). We have planned a system migration using the SOA approach with the latest release of Oracle BPEL Suite (business logic), Oracle ADF BC (presentation level), Oracle OAS (application server) and JDeveloper (application development IDE).
Within our current applications we have processes that perform several tasks (inserts, updates and/or deletes on the same DB) as part of one atomic DB transaction. Using the SOA approach we’ve deemed those tasks as being ‘services’ that we, let’s say for the sake of argument, could implement either as web services (so as to be published for reuse) or as stored procedures encapsulated via DB adapters (BPEL lexicon).
Our biggest challenge, and hence our question to the SOA world, is how to attain that same unique transaction. We understand that there is no one perfect approach, for the ‘solution’ depends on too many factors and choices; what we’d like to know are past experiences people had or, at best, what do people consider what the best practices in the industry are regarding this matter.
Approach A: all services are implemented as DB adapters (stored procedures and the like).
PROS: one single DB rollback should any service fail to execute properly and so undo all changes made so far.
CONS: highly coupled, non-visible components (via UDDI); impossibility to manage, control and audit (via WS Manager) components; weak/poor SOA Governance.
Approach B: all services are implemented as web services.
PROS: loosely coupled, self-contained, and web accessible visible components (via UDDI) besides the ease to manage, control and audit (via WS Manager); strong SOA Governance.
CONS: since each web service is a ‘different’ transaction with its own ‘commit’, a unique rollback transaction for the whole process will not be possible should a WS fail, for previous WSs will have already committed their data changes before doing the rollback.
Approach C: services implemented as a mix of web services and DB Adapters.
PROS: those of Approach B for web services.
CONS: those of Approach A (DB adapters) + those of Approach B (web services).

So, the 64,000 dollar question is how to attain a single transaction when you have web services as part of your process? Do we need to ’build/create’ a schema/functionality similar to the ‘DB-undo-segment’ in order to obtain a single rollback transaction for the whole process or does the BPEL COMPENSATE delivers this functionality somehow?
Are we not seeing the obvious? Are we not seeing the forest because we’re looking at a tree? Please keep in mind that we are using Oracle BPEL.

Hi Marinus,
you are absolutely right and not missing anything. OWSM does not free you from taking additional measures to block direct interaction with the unsecure WebService from not "authorized" clients. You must restrict the http response to the OWSM host only (either in the Apache or the OC4J configuration). See the related documentation.

Rollback Issue in BPEL

Hi All,
I am facing issue with Txn rollback in BPEL while using fault policies.My BPEL polls JMS Q and invokes 2 databases and 1 jms adapter in a sequential manner. I want if any invocation fails , the preceding successful invocations should be rollbacked and txn should be retried as per the source jms q retry settings .I have worked on it using 2 approaches-
1. Without using Fault Policy- I created a catchall and added a throw activity with rollback fault in it. So if any invocation fails, the rollback and retry is working fine as per the source Q retry settings.
2.With Fault Policy- I created a fault policy and fault binding(composite/reference level).Also I created a catchall and added a throw activity with rollback fault in it.When any invocation fails, the fault policy is called, and the Ora:retry action executes and retry calling the failed adapter as per the retry configuration set in the policy file. If after all retries, still invocation fails, then transaction goes to CatchAll block.Here is the problem.The transaction is not getting rollbacked and does not even retry as per the JMS Q retry configuration.
My agenda is to have a process, where in if any invocation fails, that should be retried as per fault policy retry configuration.If still invocation is faulted after all retries, the preceding invocations should be rollbacked and the message should be rollbacked to source jms Q. Again bpel should be instantiated with new transaction. Each instance should itself retry as per fault policy retry configuration.It should keep on retrying(creating new instances) till source Q jms retry limit is achieved.

I am using fault policies for Error handling in all my interfaces instead of handling the faults using the catch block.So the same approach I need to follow in this interface as well , where I am facing the issue. In my affected interface, I have 3 invocations in sequence manner and want that If any invocation fails, the earlier successful transactions should be rollbacked.So when I am using fault policy, the failed invocation is getting retried as per the fault policy retry , but it is not rollbacking the earlier 2 successful invocations, which it should do to have an effective error handling. Same is getting accomplished by using Catch and throwing rollback error from there. I am ok even if Q retry should not get executed but I need to rollback the previous successfully executed invocations.Could you please let me know how to handle this scenario using fault policy..May be I am skipping something then..
