Roughly Estimation

Sorry, my question may be somehow strange. I need to put a roughly time estimation for building a map application like this one (http://continental.innosked.com/) using actionscript 3.0 in Flash professional. Appreciate your continuous support a lot.

Thanks kglad for your time and cooperation. But, I feel somehow this estimate is too small for the huge number of functionalities and features included in this map. Besides, if I am going to use totally dynamic data coming from XML files or webservice.
Sorry for my comment but, I will be very grateful if you can check all the features and help me giving an estimate.
Thanks in advance.

  • Rough estimation of workload

We are planning a migration from Developer Forms & Reports 6i and Discoverer 3.1 (all running in client-server mode) to Oracle AS 10g (latest release).
The web application will be run by two application servers in active-active mode.
I would like to have at least a rough estimate of the workload expected on the servers and load-balancer. It is crucial in order to know what hardware we should purchase.
    Anyone familiar with such methods?

    No Dear,
There is no such tool. Only Experience counts.
In General, we give maximum 3 days development effort for a ordinary report program.
rest depends upon the objects requirement to be used in the code.

thanks for all the quick replies. much appreciated.
the deadline has now been moved to a later date.
what i had in mind when writing my original post was simple audiovisual services on an experienced level.
for example, recently i used a powerbook g4, garageband, jam pack 4, behringer mini sound desk, a studio condenser mic, semi-acoustic guitars, m-audio midi keyboard - to very skilfully record, track by track, an album at home. the material was later mastered at a standard professional studio, and, the result was a professionally and beautifully done piece of music, ready for sale and distribution.
as i have now moved to south russia, where even basic audiovisual services are apparently in high demand, i thought perhaps i could start a business along those lines, side by side with my main occupation, to accept personal and collective orders.
theoretically, i would imagine two sets of computers, one for audio, the other one for video, both equipped with plenty of memory, external drive space, fast cd/dvd-writers and bundled with decent although not necessarily high-end software -
e.g. audio: protools, garageband, logic express, plus all those noise-reduction apps (transferring rare vynils to cds could be a very useful service, too!)
video: final cut express, adobe premiere, even imovie and idvd, bundled with plenty of plugins and add-ons.
apart from the computers, hardware would also consist of such necessary requisites as a sound desk, mixer, midi keyboards, a record player / turntable, vhs-to-dvd recorder, speakers, camcorders...
what do you reckon?.. did it make any sense?

  • Slow Render with High-End System?

Im currently working on a (in my opinion) high-end Windows system for video editing. The system is about 2 years old and has cost a fortune in that time. So Im expecting significantly better speed. So heres my problem:
Im working primarly in Premiere Pro and After Effects. All the media I work with are as a video imported Jpeg Sequences. Often I have multiple Sequences (up to 7 or 8) overlayed and tweaked with Dissolves and plugins like Twixtor. I also use the Adobe Dynamic Link from After Effects to Premiere and vice versa. All the footage is currently in 1080p but in future I will want to render 4K. Im aware that a 4K workflow is probably a pain in the *** so Im surely going to edit offline with 1080p. However  I cant get any real-time playback with all my sequences. I ALWAYS have to render a preview to watch my edits. I dont know if Im just having too high expectations for my system, but Im kinda sure there has to be an issue for this lack of performance. Maybe the Dynamic Link is slowing my system down?

    Valentin,
I have always called a raid10 a solution for the paranoid in a hurry. It takes 4 drives to give you the capacity and performance of two disks, but gives you security by the mirroring.
Before going into your specific situation, allow me to tell something about volumes and drives, because they can be confusing and at the same time they are very important for optimal performance of a system.
Single disk, not partitioned is 1 disk = 1 volume to the OS
Single disk, partitioned is 1 disk = multiple volumes (not a good idea BTW)
Multiple disks in one raid array is Many disks = 1 volume
Multiple disks in one raid array with partitions is Many disks = multiple volumes (not a good idea either)
Each volume has a distinct drive letter for access.
Partitioning is a thing of the past and should not be used at all on modern systems.
You have to think about volumes more than about number of disks. In my current system I have 27 different physical disks but only 4 volumes. In the old one I have 17 disks and 5 volumes.
Now that we are clear what we are talking about, volumes with distinct drive letters, we can address your situation.
You have TWO volumes, C: (single disk) and D: (4 disks in raid10). Spreading the load across two volumes is more demanding and gives slower performance than using more volume, unless one or more volumes are very fast, as I tried to explain in a previous reply (remember Isenfluh/Sulwald?). If you add a SSD as you intend, you have increased the number of volumes to 3, which will definitely help performance, because SSD's are faster than conventional disks, the pagefile can be stored on the SSD, so all your performance will go up.
Compare your setup with mine with rough estimated figures:
    Volume
    Valentin
    Harm
    Transfer rate Valentin
    Tranfer rate Harm
    C:
    1 HDD
    1 SSD
    125 MB/s
    450 MB/s
    D:
    4x Raid10
    1 SSD
    250 MB/s
    450 MB/s
    E:
    NA
    21x Raid30
    NA
    2,700 MB/s
    F:
    NA
    1 HDD
    NA
    150 MB/s
These figures are indicative, but do show where the major differences are. In my experience disk setup is overlooked quite often, but has a huge impact on a system's responsiveness. It is the weakest (slowest) link in the chain, afterall and with your workflow, doubly so.
But in your specific case there is something else, and that is your disappointing hardware MPE score. 100 seconds is extremely slow, even for a Quadro 4000. I would be quite normal to see a score around 8 - 9 seconds on such a system, well maybe around 12 - 13 seconds with your ECC memory, but 100 is way too slow. Some background services or processes are interfering with the hand-over from memory-GPU-VRAM-GPU-memory. This can be caused by a myriad of things, but a good starting point would be the BlackViper list of services to set to manual or disabled and taking a closer look at the processes running with Process Explorer. There should normally be less than 50 processes running.
    Hope this helps.

  • Java does not work on my Win 7 IBM-compatible PC using Firefox as my web browser

A typical example of a website I would like to access & view is "www'cut-the-knot.org", a relatively mathematics-related website with a lot a very nice math content, where (roughly estimating) 70-90% of all web pages on the web site use Java applets to communicate that math content.
I CANNOT view the Java applets (am restricted/prevented from doing so) --- on CTK or ANY other website!.
I could go into all the details but, essentially, I have tried just about everything I can think of (or have found to do/try in discussions on the Internet by googling the problem) & nothing seems to have had any positive affect ... I can still not view ANY Java applets on ANY website! :-(
I USED to be able to view Java content on the PC I was working on, although, a few months ago, I migrated from Win XP to Win 7 when MS stopped supported Win XP. I don't know when things changed but, "while I wasn't looking" (&/or paying attention) something DID change. :-(
I'm using an IBM-compatble PC (not a Mac) with Windows 7 & Firefox as my web-browser.
I'm just a private individual ... just a "little guy" in my home ... little personal technical knowledge, no big biz connections, no $ to hire expensive (or inexpensive) experts to come in & assess & fix the problem. I would even just like to know if there is some kind of future expected date when something MIGHT get improved, barring an action "solution" of the problem.
From what I read on the Internet, some problem(s) relating to this issue has/have been extant for at least two years, dating back to at least 2012, if not further? I assume the problem would have been fixed long ago if it were easy to fix so, I'm not trying to be overly critical ... just asking for some kind of status report --- help/communication/knowledge/expertise/solution/etc ... & any information would be appreciated. Knowing WHAT the problem is is a high priority to me, certainly as well as understanding HOW TO FIX the problem, & WHEN that fix will occur.
Java is a seemingly wonderful technology but, if there are such severe security risks that require it be enabled so that no one (I'll assume I'm not the only one unable to view Java applets) can use it, it doesn't have much value to visitors to websites that employ Java to deliver a majority of their content. Part of the problem, obviously, is that (like CTK) MANY websites ALREADY use/employ Java --- & therefore, end-users have almost no access to the content in/on those websites.
    Thanx in advance ...

  • Commercial distributed application with SQL Server 2008 back-end

Hi All, I am suffering some confusion and wondered if anyone could clear up a few questions for me.
I am currently developing an application to be sold commercially, to be deployed locally on a customer's site. It is a client-server application and the server utilises an SQL Server 2008 back-end. Client applications however do connect directly to the SQL
    Server.
We probably want to support about 100+ client applications. Each client application could feasibly be making several SQL query requests per second.
Firstly, what are the licensing implications of this for the customer? I understand SQL Server 2008 can support 30000+ concurrent connections, but am I correct in thinking that each client application will require CALs? Or I understand there is a "processor
    licence"...
Secondly, and I know this is quite a broad question, but can anyone offer a rough estimation of the processing/storage requirements for the server?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi click,
Usually, SQL Server is licensed through Microsoft Volume Licensing programs using two software licensing models, one is the Per Processor (Core-based) licensing model, another is Server plus Client Access License (Server+CAL) licensing model which is based
on the users or devices accessing the product.
Using the Per Core Licensing Model When running SQL Server in a physical operating system environment (OSE), all physical cores on the server must be licensed. When licensing SQL Server software under the Server+CAL model, customers purchase a server license
for each server and a client access license (CAL) for each device (Device CAL) and/or user (User CAL) accessing SQL Server or any of its components.
For more detailed information regarding to the license issue, please call 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. For international customers, please use the Guide

  • Awful shopping experience and potential massive system flaw on Preorder Consoles

Hello, I wanted to take the time to write a lengthy post as it seems BB Corporate is active here and tends to take the feedback given here seriously to document my terrible shopping experience recently at BB store #293 in Rockville, MD.
To give some background about myself, I am an ITPro that has very fond memories of buying some of my favorite tech toys through the years from BB when I first started getting paychecks in High School and I'm now in my mid-30s with considerably more spending power.  Even with the rise of online competitors like Amazon and Newegg, I still had a soft spot for BB and their big box presentation while local competitors like CompUSA and CC fell by the wayside.  I was happy to see BB make a comeback in recent years and their RewardsZone (MyBB) rewards system has been a mostly trouble-free experience since its inception.
Over the last few years, I tended to make a lot of my big ticket purchases at BB due to the flexibility of their no interest financing, or the option to get 5-10% rewards on purchases paid in full, enough to qualify me for various levels of Elite membership ($2500-3000 spent per year).  I was on track again for similar spending this year with the purchase of a Surface Pro 3 for my girlfriend, which I paid in full to receive the 10% in rewards for ~$90 in Reward Certs.
We decided to check out the new consoles as well, and she favored the white edition PS4 so we went ahead and pre-ordered the white PS4 Destiny bundle on Aug. 29 2014 on a whim.  I took the option to pay it in full to get the benefit of the 10% rewards and was assured by the sales rep Jesse that the 10% rewards wouldn't be a problem when I picked the console up after the promotion ended, because I had already paid in full.
So we came back on Destiny launch day, 9/9  and it was perfect, great in-store experience that you simply cannot get buying online.  Walked in, Jesse was there again and had the console under the counter and even the local Sony rep was there, talking up the game and console.  Best part was they started throwing SWAG on us, PS4 lanyard, Destiny Bundle T-shirt and apparently there was even a free Gamers Club Unlocked membership I didn't even know about (I do a lot of research on my buys but again, this was bought on a whim) that was active, so I really felt great about my purchase with a fantastic in-store experience.  We went ahead and picked up Last of Us Remastered too, since we loved it on PS3 and we got 20% off with our new Gamers Club membership!
But that's when things started to go downhill.  Apparently there was a new employee working that day that Jesse was training, I am not sure if that was where things were missed, or what, but Jesse has provided me great service in the past so I don't really fault him here.  We also wanted to apply the $95 in certs to the transaction that would have totaled around $463, so with the original prepaid amount of $450 minus the $95 in certs, we should have been owed ~$80 back to the card..  Instead, I was asked for my BB Credit Card again and it was swiped thinking that was to get the ~$80 back on the card, but apparently it charged the card again for the balance of $463 minus $95 in certs.  I thought the transaction was a bit off, but figured they would just reverse the original $450 prepaid amount to charge the new transaction.
Fast forward a month, on 10/11, I checked my BB Credit Card statement to pay off the PS4 and was shocked to see an interest charge.  In 3-4 years of having this card, I have never been charged interest once.  It was a non-trivial amount of $13 and I traced it back to the 8/29 pre-order for $450 that I thought was reversed in-store.  I was then even more shocked to see the 2nd $364 transaction on the card, so I had essentially PAID FOR TWO Playstation 4 consoles!
So I immediately gathered up all my documentation (CC statements, RZ print outs, pre-order and in-store pick up receipts) and headed back to Best Buy.  It was a Saturday so things were busy, but the initial CS reps were responsive and tried to help with the situation.  The problem is, no one knew how to fix it.  Apparently, there is/was a *MASSIVE* glitch in BestBuy's point of sale system where you cannot apply both a preorder AND a RW Cert to a single transaction.  The system applies/attaches the preorder to the transaction but does not reduce the balance by that amount, because it is overwritten by the Reward Zone cert transaction.  It took at least 1 hour for 2 knowledgeable and extremely helpful tech managers (Alan and a woman I believe named Sheila) who almost immediately identified and acknowledged they had seen this problem before.  They also said the sales reps should have known this.
The problem was they kept insisting they could not simply return/void out the in-store 9/9 transaction of ~$363 because it was over 1 month and closed.  They also said they could not simply refund the $450 prepaid amount because the system was showing it was already applied to the in-store pickup transaction, even though the receipts, my CC statement all clearly show the in-store transaction was NOT reduced by the $450 prepaid amount.
Now here's where things get ugly, one manager, Nucleo, was called over and simply did not have any intent to help.  One of the employees I would prefer not to name said they believed he just didn't know how to fix the problem and they would prefer to just go to their General Manager, Dave.  Dave was busy on Saturday, I am sure, so it took him some time to come over, but he genuinely seemed interested in fixing the problem.  Together with Sheila, they came up with the solution of voiding out the in-store transaction manually, and then scanning a return for a $15 accessory item to make me whole on the interest I was charged.  They also said the prorated portion of the Reward Zone Certs of ~$87 would be refunded to my BB account within a few days.
I thought that would be the end of it....until I checked my BB account a few days later and was shocked to see I had a NEGATIVE balance in RZ points.  Voiding the in-store transaction of $363 without refunding the $87 in RZ certs left me in a negative balance!  Again, I made my way to the Rockville BB store with all documentation in hand and this time, I packed up the PS4, which I had seldom-used at this point because I simply did not feel the transaction was completed.  I fully intended to just return the system and either wash my hands of this transaction, or return it and try to complete the transaction from scratch.
This time, unfortunately, the GM Dave was not on duty, it was only Nucleo.  Sad to say, he actually provided better customer service when he tried to ignore the problem.  This time, he tried to indicate it was MY FAULT that I allowed myself to be charged twice, asking "what I want to know is, if you paid for it why did you let us charge your card again?".  I replied that it was a FLAW IN BB's SYSTEM and that I assumed HIS employees knew what they were doing because I simply do NOT PREORDER consoles on a weekly, monthly or even yearly cycle.  At this point, both of our voices and tempers were escalated, it was one of my most unpleasant in-store experiences especially knowing I was being wronged and this person Nucleo had no intention of trying to fix the problem caused by BB's system.  In all of this transaction, this dealing with Nucleo is the only reason I am writing this post now, I feel everyone else did their best to try and fix the problem, but this guy is just in the wrong business because his customer service skills are awful.  Ultimately the visit ended with no resolution, the employees that had been helpful throughout (Alan, Amber, and one other tall younger man) insisted the certs of $87 would get credited back in a few days and the credits for the original $450 prepaid would also come but may take longer after they spoke with MyBB reps on the phone.
So I waited patiently for another 2-3 weeks and the points from both the prorated $87 rewards (original $95) and the estimated 2250 points ($45) from the 10% $450 prepaid amount had still not yet arrived.  When they didn't, I took a different tack and contacted MyBB Elite.  The rep was responsive and understanding, and it took a good 10 minutes for her to get her bearings while I explained the situation.  I also provided all of my documentation and she was able to verify and document it in her notes.  She immediately re-issued or pushed through the $87 in Reward Zone certs from the refunded in-store transaction while I was on the phone, and said the remainder $450 was also in process and should come through in 5-8 business days.
I had to call 2 more times, both times the reps insisted the $450 prepaid was still in process and approved, but it was most likely the same glitch that prevented the prepaid from being applied properly, it simply could not get points attached to it because it was counted as part of another transaction.  The 3rd time I spoke with a supervisor/escalation rep and they said the transaction would be funded.
Finally, I called up again a few weeks ago and was at my wit's end because I still did not see a resolution.  Somehow, this rep was able to push the amount through which was $45.  It was unattached to the original transaction as just Customer Satisfaction.  Throughout this experience, I do feel everyone was interested in trying to get this resolved for me except for Nucleo, who really tried to make me feel like this entire ordeal was MY FAULT.  The BB rep on the phone apologized and said she hoped this had not impacted my willingness to shop at BB in the future, but I answered frankly, that it has impacted my willingness negatively, as there was numerous deals on various tech toys and gifts in the last few months that I simply did not feel good about making at BB due to this experience.
I wanted to post this so that you can use this feedback as it shows how quickly someone's opinion and preferences can change on a single bad shopping experience.  And while I am not one who is going to take a faux-stand and say I will never shop at BB again, I will certainly look at more alternatives rather than going to BB for certain buying habits in the future.  Oh, and someone should speak with Nucleo, he is absolutely in the wrong line of business.
Thanks for reading!  I will be happy to provide any documentation or member # via PM for your verification if you are interested.  Some of the dollar amounts are rough/estimated as this transaction is now so old it no longer appears on my recent 3 month history.
    Regards,
    Jerry

    Dear Jerry,
Thank you for coming to us on the forums and sharing your recent tribulations around this purchase. I can fully empathize with your disappointment in the treatment you spoke of in your post as I have experienced this with other retailers in the past as well. Any frustration this lengthy experience may have caused you is completely understandable. For something that seems like it should be so simple from a customer standpoint like correcting rewards points, can sometimes not be so cut and dry on the other side of things.
I had the pleasure of being a manager in our stores for a couple years before I came to work at the corporate level. There were interactions that challenged my knowledge level and my patience in that time, but I was always working to educate the customer and leave them feeling heard and appreciated. This should be the goal of all of our managers to express through their words and actions with our customers. My apologies if you didn’t witness this in your exchanges with Nucleo. I can fully empathize with your disappointment with the treatment you spoke of in your post as I have experienced this with other retailers in the past as well. Using your email address you supplied here on the forums, I was able to verify your interactions with our phone support and that your points issue appears to have been corrected. This process should not have taken as much effort and follow up on your part as it did.
The information regarding the preorder points issue you described has been documented here for review by the appropriate business teams. Your feedback has also been passed along to the General Manager at the Rockville, MD (store 293) location to be used for coaching and training with his team. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any other questions or concerns. I am genuinely sorry that this occurrence has damaged your inclination to come to Best Buy for your technology needs, and I hope you will continue to visit our stores in the future. Your loyalty is much appreciated.
    Warmest regards,

  • Please advise a novice..

    Hi,
Am considering buying the Zen Touch 20gb after much research. Whilst I am aware that this apparantly holds "up to 0,000" songs, it seems this differs with mp3 or wma format.
I will be using mp3, so was wondering if anyone could give a rough estimation of how many albums this will actually hold? I realise albums differ in length, but assuming most are around the 45 min mark - am I looking at about 500 albums? More? less? May seem like a pretty simple Q, but just so I'm sure.
    Any replies greatly appreciated.

It's not just the format which differs, it'll depend on the quality also. At the standard average quality 28 kbit/s, you are looking at about Mb/min. Hence with 20Gb, and 45 minutes per album, you are looking at around 450 albums. Of course if you increase the quality and the bit-rate, the number of albums will drop proportionately.

  • 'Check Battery' at 73 cycles. Any warranty?

My Macbook battery seems to have gone kaput and my Macbook will only work if I have my power adapter plugged in. It seems like my battery is at fault, since most of the threads I've read here say that if it does say 'check battery', that means it's dead and can't be fixed.
So my question is, does Apple cover this or do I have to buy a new battery? I bought my Macbook about 2 years ago pretty much new from someone who never opened theirs. Not sure what kind of warranty is on this though.

    Hi Stikygum,
There's no right or wrong cycle count after a specific period of time. Apple's expectation is that at 300 cycles the battery should still be 80% of it's original full charge capacity. My understand (and this is rough estimation) is this is how Apple gets to that number:
    300 cycles over 3 years (300/3) = 100 cycles per year
100 cycles per year over 12 months (100/12) = 8.333 cycles per month
    ~ 2 cycles per week
Again this is average, some users might be significantly greater than this (1 per day) or significantly less than this (1 per month). The important thing is that at least once a month you're cycling the battery. Some rough math would indicate you were putting a cycle on the battery about once every 7 to 11 days (give or take).
Apple's warranty (one-year) and AppleCare (three-year) only cover the battery if it's defective. But as you're past the one year and don't have AppleCare, regardless of whether or not the battery is defective (or depleted) you're outside of coverage. That's what I meant say.
It's very possible that you've got a defective battery but unfortunately without AppleCare (something that Apple offers you a 365 day window to purchase after you get the machine), you're not eligible for a free replacement.

  • How many classes are there in the java kit?

i figured this was the most "general" forum to post this question in. and im curious to know, how many packages/classes/functions are there in the java sdk? like, all the prebuilt ones. ive looked but cant seem to find any info on it. anybody happen to know?
    Thanks!

there are at least 4142 classes in the 1.4.2.x distribution ...Is that the number of files which end in .java? There's bound to be a lot more
classes, when you u consider inner classes and especially anonymous
inner classes. It was just a rough estimation ... and I wrote 'at least' 4142 classes ...
and I was wrong: there are alse 4 .h files in the src.zip file, so that makes 4138
    classes at least :-)
    kind regards,
    Jos

  • How we will know that dimension size is more than the fact table size?

how we will know that dimension size is more than the fact table size?

    Hi,
Let us assume that we are going to take Division and distribution channel in a dimension and assume we have 20 distinct values for Division in R/3 and 30 Distinct values for Distribution channel .So Maximum, we can get 20 * 30 records in dimension table and we can take rough estimation of records in the cube by observing the raw data in source system.

  • Battery life suddenly cut in half

just yesterday, during my first class, i noticed that i only had about 2 hours left on my battery-- this was just about 15 minutes after unplugging my fully charged macbook. the same thing happened today...i don't know what's going on, i used to get around 4 hours with it. i haven't changed any habits-- i dim the screen as much as possible, etc.
i'm calibrating the battery right now...will that work or is something else wrong?

    Hi,
Macbook battery life arouse lot of feedback. My experience is after re-calibration the total capcity of battery losts at least 100mAh. But if just connect to internet via airport, still I can manage to use it with over 3hrs. But when I run photoshops or bigger size file, the time shown on menu bar dropped tremendously to 1:50hr somethg from 3:03hr. But this battery seems to last quite good at last few %. My experiences on powerbook G4 1G, with 1.25G DDR ram, when battery drops to 10% or 10 minutes, the Powerbook will go to sleep soon. But for Macbook, when the indicator shows 0:09 hr remained, if using for internet it can still last for more than 15minutes. I also asked Apple HK technician about the battery drop problem, they said this is just rough estimation, sometimes not accurate, and it is normal that battery sometimes can't charged back 100% full unless after recalibration. If ur cases after full charge, check if ur battery is 100% or below 90% uisng coconut, Apple said if under warranty the battery drop below 90% for full charge, u can replace the battery in Apple repair center. This is the case in HK , I am not sure the practise in ur country.

  • Oracle taking 3 times more disk spaces than MySQL for BLOBs?

    Hello there,
We have been migrating one big about 8 TB MySQL table into Oracle 11g R2. The table contains biometric data in 18 BLOB columns - it's a kind of storage table for all biometric information in the form of BLOB. The avg. row length is about 140KB. We had a rough estimation - it might take about 12 TB of disk spaces after migrating the thing into Oracle. We planned to put this table in a 32K bock size tablespace. The table contains about 85 million records.
After we finished loading the data, we discovered that about 20 millions of records already consumed more than 7 TB of disk spaces! In this fashion, we might end up with consuming 30TB of disk spaces after loading the 85 million of records. The only thing at this moment I am thinking about is to reduce the PCTFREE parameter to 2% instead of 10% - the records will be very rarely updated. This will save about 2TB of disk spaces from that 30TB, I guess.
On top of your head, do you have any quick thoughts about the possible reasons of such abnormal (?) disk consumption - it is taking about 3 times more disk than MySQL database. What would be the best way to debug the problem - where to look at?
FYI- All the storage parameters of the table has been kept default - just mentioned the tablespace name while created the table. We have been using SQL*Loader with DIRECT mode to load the data.
    Thanks for your cooperation!
    Regards.

    Hi,
We are using the old BLOB - and not compressed yet.
The machine is not remotely accessible, I will get the DDL later on.
FYI, we did not mention any storage option for the table except the tablespace name. Earlier, I looked at the dba_lobs, dba_segments, dba_extents and had the following few information -
    * All the blob columns has "initial_extent" 163840 [from dba_segments]
    * Block allocation gradually increased, not uniform (extent_id 1 -> blocks 2, ... extent_id 14 -> blocks 32... extent_id 77 -> blocks 256... extent_id 938 -> blocks 2048 [from dba_extents]
    * CHUNK is 32768 for all lob segments
    * RETENTION is 900
    * No value for PCTVERSION
    Thanks for your time!

  • Urgent on FI implementation on banking sector????

<b>HI I am the SAP lead in a upcoming company we got a project on FI/CO implementation in Banking sector so I need related documentations, presentations on how to go about the project from beginning and how to estimate the cost, manpower etc details.
THIS IS VERY URGENT, PLEASE HELP ME IN THIS REGARD
PLS SEND U R MAILS AT
    [email protected]
    </b>

    Hi Shesagiri,
The Project Estimator is a tool based on Microsoft Excel, the ASAP Roadmap, the SAP Reference Structure, and the Implementation Guide (IMG) and is used by SAP consultants to estimate the workload, schedules, and
costs of SAP R/3 implementation projects.
Use:SAP employees and consultants can perform project estimation using the Project Estimator in any phase of an SAP R/3 implementation project. The length of time
it takes to perform project estimation depends on how familiar the user is with the tool and with SAP R/3 implementation procedures, and on the level of detail at
which the user is expected to define the project parameters. An initial rough estimation can be completed in one to two hours. The results of project
estimation can be downloaded as data extracts or printed, so that the customer
can use them in presentations and executive reports.
    The Project Estimator calculates:
Workload and schedules, also known in the tool as ”effort and dates” (the
number of working days required for implementation tasks and estimated
    start and end dates)
Costs (internal/external – also by role)
      Resource requirements (internal/external)
The allocation of resources for each project role
The above information is calculated for all the implementation project’s work
    packages and phases.
    Structure
The Project Estimator uses spreadsheet formulas and default values based on
typical implementation projects to convert the user’s input values into final result
values. The spreadsheet features the following types of tables:
      Results tables
These tables display calculated and aggregated results. The layout of the results is based on
the ASAP Roadmap and its phases and work packages.
      Factor tables
These are tables where the user defines and checks factors for the project in question.
      Component tables
These tables display the SAP Reference Structure including scenarios and processes,
    Project Estimator SAP AG
    Project Estimator
    6 April 2001
master data and transaction data, and the ASAP Roadmap structure with its phases and
    work packages.
      Other tables
These tables serve a number of purposes such as, for example, navigating within the
    spreadsheet and calculating factors.
You perform project estimation in 4 steps:
    1. You set the project scope using application factors.
    2. You determine project, risk, and cost factors
    3. You check the results as calculated by the tool and adjust them if necessary.
    4. You enter general project data, print the project estimation results, and generate data
    extracts.
The Project Estimator may only be used by SAP employees and consultants.
Customers and other third parties may not work with the tool or receive project
estimation results in any form other than the data extracts and printouts generated at
    Step 4.
The Project Estimator is a tool. The user is responsible for the final results presented
    to the customer.
Hope thgis helps. pls assign points.
    Rgds
