Routing and Geocoding with Oracle Maps

Hi,
Has anyone displayed routes from the Routing Engine as a layer on Oracle Maps? Is this possible yet? I'm scratching my head trying to figure this one out. If anyone could help that would be great.
Cheers
Dave

Hi,
I have implemented the Route Engine output into OracleMaps. I'm requesting a route and it returns the correct list of coordinates. I then create a new FOI line string.
var coords = ( an array of long/lat coordinates )
var lineStringGEO = SdoGeometry.createLineString(coords, 8311);
var routeFOI = new FOI("route", lineStringGEO, "APP.L.Route", null, 5000,5000)
routeFOI.setClickable(true);
mapview.addFOI(routeFOI);
mapview.display();
A line string is created but it is not transparent. It creates the line, but places a sold box that covers the MBR of the linestring.
Also, there seems to be a limit size on the line string. It works for small route sets, but larger sets returning 250 coordinate pairs fails. It wont display on the map.
I would appreciate any help - has anyone else implemented routing into OracleMaps?
Cheers

  • Print Map with Oracle Map

    I am using Oracle MapViewer 10.1.3.3. In Oracle Map demo, there is a sample for map printing by using style class (noscreen and noprint) for HTML div. However, my application is using Oracle ADF faces, which don't accept a "class" attribute in the tag. Does anyone know how I could print map image only with ADF faces?
    Thanks!

  • Raster Theme with "Oracle Map -mapviewer ajax"

    Hi, Everyone,
    I tried to add a raster theme by using "Oracle Map".
    If I add my raster theme as based map, the mapviewer will correctly render image.
    If I add my raster theme as a FOI theme layer, the mapviewer will not render the raster image for me.
    Does anyone know if "Oracle Map" supports raster theme, or just vector theme? I just want to make sure if I am right on tract.
    TIA

    This didn't solve the problem.
    tile size is 2048 X 2048 where as map size is 800X800 but when a request is made, it fetches around 9 tiles.
    If I reduce the tile size to 256X256 it fetches around 33 tiles and from logs for each jpeg fetched querying/rendering time is 15 to 25 seconds.
    So it takes around 2 minutes to complete one request.
    It is too high, what can be done to improve mapviewer's performance with georaster themes?

  • Should we avoid Graphical mapping and stick with Java mapping?

    After developing mappings in XI for a month, I just don't see any good reasons to use Graphical mappings over Java mappings. Maybe some experienced users here can give me some valid reasons why we should choose Graphical mappings. Here is what I think:
    Disadvantages of Graphical mappings:
    1. No way to perform automated unit testings. This is probably the biggest reason I hate it. You can do some tests manually when you work in Integration Builder. But there is no way you can write some unit testing utilities to automate the task.
    2. Complexity. Even for some simple requirements, your Graphical mappings can become complicated and hard to understand. A lot of times, I find myself staring at several dozens of graphical nodes and try to understand what it does.
    3. Impossible to reuse. This is totally against the DRY (Don't repeat yourself) principle. For example, to generate messages for JDBC adapter, it is common to have two identical fields for primary keys: one in the access node and another in the key node. If you change the mapping logic in one, you have to remember to change the other.
    Advantage with Java mappings:
    1. Fully automated unit testing. You can create JUnit tests along with your Java mapping classes and use Maven or other build tools to perform automated unit testing.
    2. Your choice of XML parsing and binding. With Java mapping, you can choose any open source framework for XML parsing and binding. For example, with XMLBeans, I can convert XML input message to a Java object, transform to another Java object and write to output message. And each Java object is generated from its corresponding XML schema.
    3. Highly reusable. We can use fundamental object-oriented designs to create highly reusable mapping components.
    4. Better version control. Since the mappings are just Java classes, we can use CVS or SVN to track code changes.
    5. Better build tools. We can fully utilize build tools like Ant and Maven to automate the build, unit tests, or even generate documents and mapping web sites.
    So do you guys agree? Maybe I am still new to XI or I am missing some important things. But at this point, I just don't see why I should use Graphical mappings. Is there anyone developing XI interfaces completely with Java mappings?
    Thanks in advance for any comments!

    > Ebven though it may appear bigger, it will take less

    Could you explain more why the graphical mapping has better performance? I thought the graphical mapping is compiled into a Java class in the runtime anyway.
    > Yes thats there, but same goes with Java mapping too
    > right (if you haven't mentioned it as constants)
    I mainly think about inheritance. If I have to build 10 interfaces and they all have some common behavior, I can create a base interface class to encapsulate the common logic. But with graphical mapping, you have to duplicate them in each interface.
    > Disadvantages of Java mapping:
    > 1. Performance
    Same as above. I just don't see why Java has worse performance. I actually think Java should have better performance. You can optimize the code anyway you want. In some cases, you have to use queue functions in graphical mapping but it's not necessary in Java.
    > 2. All might not be well versed with Java Code(though
    > everyone may know basic java) .
    I am not asking everyone to abandon graphical mapping. I am just wondering which one is better when you have skills for both.
    > 3. Lot of standard functions are available in GM
    > which you can choose, but you have to remember the

    You can create functions in Java too. All you have to do is to remember the function name.

    Kindly advise.Yes, you definately needed to mention that. That suggests you also have 3 $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directories, each with its own tnsnames.ora file. So you need to make sure you are hitting the correct one. I'd pick one to be the controlling one and set the TNS_ADMIN enviornment variable to point to it.

  • ESRI and MapInfo with Oracle

    Hi,
    Has anyone set up an infrastructure that has MapInfo Professional Clients and ESRI Clients (ArcView 9.1) reading the same datasets from an Oracle database. I am getting conflicting information about this. I have been told by one party that if data is stored in Oracle via ArcSDE that then the MapInfo client cannot access the data. Does anyone know if this is the case?
    Thanks,
    Sharyn

    To your Q1, A1: Data can be loaded via ArcSDE and accessed with MapInfo Professional. We have been doing this for years. To load the data, we use Safe FME, but that is the expensive way (but very user-friendly), since you have to purchase their top of the line license so you can read and write both Oracle Spatial (SDO_GEOMETRY) and ESRI "geodatabase". We have used many mechanisms to load data into an Oracle Spatial table, and many work quite well, allowing access to the data through ESRI and MapInfo client software. FME is just easier to use, especially if you have lots of tables, many records, or need to frequently add records to your tables.
    As for your requirement to have two clients (ArcGIS Desktop and MapInfo) to perform insert, update and delete on the same tables - well - you have a big problem to solve. Its like building a car with two steering wheels, and could become a disaster. ESRI documentation has warnings about setting up this scenario. You will need to keep edits VERY well coordinated. We do not do this - we only edit our data with one client app.

  • Please Help, Setting up router and AirPort with port forwarding

    If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.
    I have a DSL Router supplying my internet connection, this is then connected to my AirPort Base station and distributes my internet connection to my two Macs and my two iPhones. Everything is working fine, however I want to forward some of the ports and I cannot do this since the base station is in bridge mode. If I take the AirPort base station out of bridge mode it gives me an error that say's Double NAT.
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    "When the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) is in bridge mode every port is already forwarded directly through the AEBS. ... Therefore the option to forward ports is unneeded and not available."
    I don't believe this to be true. Isn't port forwarding done on the router and not the AEBS, as it is not a router?
    Go into your DSL router by typing the routers address (found in the network pane in system preferences) into your browser's window. This should take you to your log-on page on your router.

  • How to install and work with oracle webcenter 11g

    Hi
    Will please guide how to install and work on oracle webcenter11g, i am fresher in oracle that's why. so please guide me
    Regards
    Rajesh P

    In order to create and develop a webcenter portal application, you only need to install JDeveloper and download the WeBCenter extensions. That's true.
    But this install does not include the WebCenter services like dicussions, document services, analytics,... If you want to use these and integrate them in your portal, then you would need to install the suite as described on my blog.

  • Content based routing and XML with multiple objects

    I have some structure:
    <contracts>
      <contract>
         <department>1</department>
      </contract>
      <contract>
         <department>1</department>
       </contract>
      <contract>
         <department>2</department>
       </contract>
    </contracts>
    I need to route contract to 2 system based on <department> value:
    contracts/department = 1 --> System1
    contracts/department = 2 --> System2
    Will XI split my XML (based on Content Routing rules in ID) into 2 structures (with departmet=1 and department=2 accordingly) ?
    Or I have to perform 1ToN mapping? I don't like it bacause it will be diffucult to monitor hundred of messages.

    Alternatively if you donot like 1:n mapping and BPM.
    Create two message mappings in the IR
    1.Source :<contracts>
    <contract>
    <department>1</department>
    </contract>
    <contract>
    <department>1</department>
    </contract>
    <contract>
    <department>2</department>
    </contract>
    </contracts>
    Target:
    <contracts>
    <contract>
    <department>1</department>
    </contract>
    <contract>
    <department>1</department>
    </contract>
    Basically mapping generates a target structure which has only department 1.
    2.Same like step1 but the mapping should generate the XML with department = 2.
    Once requires steps are done in the ID , do the content based routing in the reciever determination and give the appropraite message mapping in the interface determination.
    That should your problem and also you will like doing it as it does not involve any split level mapping..:)

  • Acting as router and partner with the same message type

    Hi All
    Let A and B be two companies communicating with each other
    via a company called R. Some MSCONS messages will just be
    routed, some MSCONS messages will be kept by R, processed
    and then routed on. The only way to know if it should be

    them with current state in the database owned by company
    R. If company A sends a MSCONS to B via R, the sending and
    receiving identification id in the message will belong to
    A and B, not R.
    To make it more complicated, there are about 200 companies
    communicating via R in the same way as A and B. Further
    more, MSCONS is only one out of about 15 types of message
    routed under these conditions.

  • Error updating and deleting with Oracle (HELP!)

    I have a simple table in Oracle 8.1.7 with this structure:
    CREATE TABLE TC_PROVS_SMS_SA
      CODIGO_OPERADOR     NUMBER(5)                 NOT NULL,
      NOMBRE              VARCHAR2(40)              NOT NULL,
      CON_RELACION_DESDE  DATE,
      NOMBRE_CONTACTO     VARCHAR2(40),
      TELEFONO_CONTACTO   VARCHAR2(10),
      PCT_LIQ_CREDITO     NUMBER(8,5)               DEFAULT 0                     NOT NULL,
      COMENTARIOS         VARCHAR2(4000),
      INSERTADO_POR       VARCHAR2(20),
      INSERTADO_EL        DATE,
      MODIFICADO_POR      VARCHAR2(20),
      MODIFICADO_EL       DATE,
      VERSION             NUMBER(5)
    )CODIGO_OPERADOR is the PK.
    Im editing the data in a form with Text FIelds.
    When I call rowset .updateRow() (in save button action method) I got:
    javax.faces.FacesException: #{editarProv.btnGuardar_action}: javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: javax.faces.FacesException: java.sql.SQLException: [Sun][Oracle JDBC Driver]Unable to determine the type of the specified object.
    I already try changing the query limitig columns, I fill all the columns in the database, etc. but no lock.
    Also, trying to delete the row gives me:
    javax.faces.FacesException: #{editarProv.btnBorrar_action}: javax.faces.el.EvaluationException: javax.faces.FacesException: java.sql.SQLException: [Sun][Oracle JDBC Driver]Invalid parameter binding(s).
    As you can see, its the Suns JDBC.
    PLEASE HELP !!

    Thak you jawbe.
    I avoid the DATE field and scale the NUMBER to NUMBER(p, s) then can insert and update. Im not quite shure if this was the solution or avoiding DATE field (see below).
    There is another problem with DATE field. Since it mapped to TIMESTAMP the component or the JDBC driver spects time information. I can insert and update if I enter date and time but my user shouldnt must enter time info when the field is intented to be just date. Im working now in assigning by hand (from and to rowset) and spect to get working soon.
    The problem with the deleteRow() stills. I will see further and let you known.
    Regards.
