Rules engine can't find classes in DM

I am working with the Oracle rules engine and can't get around what seems like a simple problem. I am following the example in chapter 18 of the BPEL developers guide (http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/integrate.1013/b28981/decision.htm#sthref3129) and can't seem to run the rules.
I am creating the DM using the CreditRating.xsd provided in the example. I have created the RL function and ruleset as stated in the chapter. When I go to the RL tab and click on check RL syntax I get the following error:
A syntax error is found.
Error:'creditrating.RatingType' is undefined at line 4 column 14 in DM
1. ruleset DM
2.
3. {
4. fact class creditrating.RatingType supports xpath; <<<<
5. fact class creditrating.Rating supports xpath;
6. fact class creditrating.RatingrequestType supports xpath;
I also have a process that uses a decision node to execute the ruleset and it complains that the creditrating.objectFactory is undefined. I have to be missing a step somewhere that actually links in the classes that are auto-generated by JAXB.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

I dug a little deeper and figured out what the gotcha is with the rules engine repository. So, when working with the rules engine there are two ways to access the repository file that holds the data model and business rules. You can either access the file directly from the hard drive or through the use of WebDAV.
I was using the rules author to access the repository directly on the hard drive since I didn't have WebDAV setup somewhere. I created my data model and my rules using the rules author.
As part of creating the BPEL process to use the rules in the repository, I created a Decision Service and pointed it at the repository file on the hard drive that I have been editing with the rules author. The act of doing this COPIES the repository to the JDev directory where the Decision Service resides.
During the deployment process, the Decision Service is deployed (auto-magically) as a separate ear file to the app server. This Decision Service ear file contains yet another copy of the rules engine repository file. The repository in the ear file, of course, is the repository that the BPEL server executes rules against when the BPEL process is run.
Needless to say, continuing to edit the original repository that you were editing with the rules author does not actually affect any of the rules that are running on the app server. There are a couple of ways that you can get around this:
1.) Edit the repository file (with the rules author) in the JDev directory directly and after making any changes save the repository and redeploy the BPEL process. Redeploying the BPEL process will redeploy the decision service which contains that copy of the repository.
2.) This one is not really recommended, but is an option. Edit the repository file that got deployed as part of the decision service deployment. This will make your rules changes effective immediately. One of the real big problems with doing this is when the BPEL process is redeployed the repository on the app server that you have been modifying will be overwritten.
3.) The real solution to this problem seems to be setting up a WebDAV deployment somewhere that you and the app server has access to.

  • HELP - 'Can't find class' error

    I have just bought a new computer with Windows XP and downloaded and installed the new versions of the jdk, jre, etc.
    I have written the Hello World program to check that everything works. It compiles fine, but when I try to run I get an error - Can't find class helloworld - and then it exits.
    I know that the path variable is set correctly and I used to have to set the classpath as well, but have been told that this is not necessary.
    I really need to get this working as have some important programming to do.
    Thanks for any help,
    Olly

    Try this;-
    prompt>set CLASSPATH=
    .......> return key
    prompt>java helloWorld
    Hello World!
    prompt>
    AMAZING!
    This works fine. Thanx.
    Is there any way to set it so that I dont have to do
    the set classpath stuff each time I run a program
    though?
    CheersWell, set a system variable
    CLASSPATH=.;<java_home>\jre\lib\rt.jar

  • Can't find class error on Tru64 UNIX

    I have written a class, TextProcessor, and I can compile and run it without any problems on my Win2K box. I ftp the source to works Tru64 box and compile the class just fine. When I issue the command "java TextProcessor" I get the msg "Can't find class TextProcessor". I immediately thought I had a classpath issue. I messed around with setting my classpath but without luck.
    I then wrote a new class on the Unix box using vi called Hello.java. I compile the Hello class without a problem. I issue the command "java Hello" and get "Hello!", just like I am supposed to get.
    The 2 classes reside in the same directory, TextProcessor does not have any package statements. I am totaly confused.
    Environment information:
    Tru64 UNIX version 5 or so.
    JDK 1.1.8 (not my choice and I have no control over the JDK)
    JRE 1.2.2 is also installed.
    Please help!
    Thanks

    Maybe.....
    Make sure that you have the permissions necesary to read,write and execute the file from your own account.
    If you canno't find any class maybe is because you cannot read.
    What account are you used to pute the file from Win?
    you can try this...
    chmod 777 TextProcessor.java
    chmod 777 TextProcessor.class
    But......????? uhmmmmmm??
    I'm not sure, because If you can compile then you can read the file, but it's depends you umask ......
    it's only a suggest

  • "can't find class" error

    i have win xp as my OS and jdk1.1.8 installed. I have my class path set correctly. I have changed the environment variable to c:\jdk1.1.8\bin
    When I compile my java programs using javac at the command prompt, the program compiles successfully and the class file is made but when I run it I get the erro "can't find class filename"
    I there some other way to set the class path in XP .
    I don't understand where I am going wrong.
    Please help...

    to run a java file you would type c:\jdk1.1.8\bin\java ClassName
    leave it at that, i think the error your getting is caused when you type the .class extention ie. c:\jdk1.1.8\bin\java ClassName.class

  • Can not find class BPELFaultRecoveryContext in 11g

    I have a Java program that uses the class BPELFaultRecoveryContext below
    import com.collaxa.cube.engine.fp.BPELFaultRecoveryContext;
    which resides in the orabpel.jar file. I jar up the java program and put it in the $ORACLE_MIDDLEWARE_HOME/user_projects/domains/soa_domain/lib folder on the SOA server. When I run the bpel process, it will call this java class and now, when the java class runs, it said that it can't find this class BPELFaultRecoveryContext. I searched the server and the orabpel.jar file is there. It's in another directory though.
    The intereresting thing is in this java program, it uses the below classes and they are in the fabric-runtime.jar file. I do not include the fabric-runtime.jar file in the jar file with the java class but the java program is able to locate these 2 classes but not the one above.
    import oracle.integration.platform.faultpolicy.IFaultRecoveryContext;
    import oracle.integration.platform.faultpolicy.IFaultRecoveryJavaClass;
    Do I need to include the orabpel.jar file in the jar file with the java class? Do you have any ideas? Thanks

  • Search engine can't find my website

    Hi,
    I have recently published my first website done in Adobe Muse and I have the problem that the search engines don't find my site.
    I have added some keywords into every page of the site, (page properties) but it doesn't help. Is there anything else I should try to do, is there any other ways to go or what is wrong?
    Thankful for your help

    Hi,
    A site appearing on google search result depends on various factors. There is no defined time when the site will be indexed in google. It may take a week or a month as well. You can submit your site to the google's webmasters tool to expedite the process but still no definite time.
    Now ,
    For SEO (from a very simplified view) there are two primary factors that contribute to where your page ranks within Google. The first is how well the content of your page(s) correlate to the specific search phrase someone entered in Google. And the second is how "popular" your site is, measured primarily by how many other sites/sources contain links to your pages relative to the popularity of other sites that had a similar correlation to the search phrase.
    A 60-second course on SEO is:
    1) Pick ~3 search phrases you want to optimize for. Then work to have those phrases and the words in those phrases appear regularly in the content of your pages, paying special attention to .html file names, image file names, headings (marked with h1, h2, etc. tags), page titles, your domain name, image alt text, the text content of the actual pages, etc.
    2) Leverage Twitter, Facebook, Blogs in your industry, etc. to generate interest in your site and thus generate links back to your site.
    3) Submit your sitemap.xml to Google using Google's Webmaster Tools so they're aware of your site and more likely to re-index it sooner rather than later.
    There's tons more to SEO, but that's a start.
    Also ,
    Here are a few links which will help you in SEO  :-

  • Can't find class because of try catch block ?!

    Hello,
    I'm using the JNI to use a java library from my c++ code.
    JNI can't find the "Comverse10" class below, but when i put the try catch block in createMessage in comment, FindClass succeeds ?!
    Unfortunatly i need the code inside the try block ;-)
    I tried a few things, but none of them worked:
    - let createMessage throw the exception (public void createMessage throws ElementAlreadyExistsException ), so there isn't a try catch block in createMessage => result: the same
    - make a "wrapper" class Comverse that has a Comverse10 object as attribute and just calls the corresponding Comverse10.function. Result: Comvers could be found, but not constructed (NewObject failed).
    Can someone tell me what is going on ?!
    Thank you,

    I would guess that the real problem is that that the
    exception you are catching is not in the class path
    that you are defining.Thanks jschell, that was indeed the case.
    I don't have the docs, but I would guess that
    FindClass() only returns null if an exception is
    thrown. And you are not checking for the exception.
    Which would tell you the problem.Ok, i'll remember that. But what with exceptions thrown in my java code, the documents say
    // jthrowable ExceptionOccurred(JNIEnv *env);
    // Determines if an exception is being thrown. The exception stays being thrown until either the native code calls ExceptionClear(), or the Java code handles the exception
    so, what if the java code throws an exception and catches it, will i be able to see that in my c++ code with ExceptionOccurred ?
    or
    should the java method be declared to throw the exception (and not catch it inside the method)
    Again, thank you for your help, it's greatly appreciated !

  • Search Engines can't find me!

    Hello people, I have recently created a website using iWeb. The problem is that no search engines can find it. No matter what you type, even the actual domain, it still can't find anything.
    FTP client I used is FileZilla.
    Hosting Services etc are through SiteGround
    Software is iWork '08
    Any ideas?

    First you have to let the search engines know that your website exists!
    Here's a good place to start.....

  • JSP can't find class file

    I created a package for my JSP and import it to be used in a JSP. It works great a couple of times, but for some reason, it displays an error message saying it can't find the class in import. Can anyone explain that? Thanks.
    null

    This may be a classpath issue. Is it possible that you have changed your classpath
    and restarted your web server? If you are
    using a web server that lets you specify the
    classpath in some properties file (i.e.,
    wrapper.classpath) is is possible that that
    has changed?
