Run a script in a rule

I have a script that run in a rule condition. I was able to run the condition in a block but it works very on and off.This has really going me crazy.And this seems not at all robust.What is the best way to run a script in a rule?

Do you want to run two BR's parallel y, why you are not going for sequences option, you can divide your rule in parts and run the rules in the sequence you want.
run one Business Rule/Calculation Script in another Business Rule/Calculation Script (Run one BR/Calc Script within another BR)?I don't think so you can call one BR from other, if you want the same might be you have to write CDF for calling the BR/CalcScript within the BR. or you can use Essbase Macro option.(+I am not sure for this option+)

Hello all,
I have calc scripts and business rules in my hyperion essbase.
one of the calc scripts e.g. aggregates some values.
In the business rule i copied the code from the calc script and this business rule can be executed in the planning tool.
Now, everytime when i change the code from the calc script, i have to change same things at the business rule.
And now my question:
Is it possible to start a calc script with the business rule?
e.g. content of business rule: execute "calc_aggregate"
Is there a command?
Then it would save time and i only have to change the calc script and not both.

Getting the name of the Action that runs this script

If I create a action in photoshop to run a script called "test script", How can I determine within the "test script" what action name started running this script? I'm trying to write a script to scale my images. The scaling will be determined by what Action ran this script.
Example
Action Names are 5x7, 4x6, 8x10
Eash action above will run the same script called "scale me"
Within "scale me", the java code will determine that 4x6 started running "scale me"
"scale me" will go to the section within the java code to scale the image loaded in Photoshop to a 4x6 size.
The reason for writing the "scale me" code this way is that I can maintain only one script to scale my images.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

My script is a single file that is run by the Actions, I've created for each size and each action runs the same script. When the script runs, it determines via "ActionReference();" what the current selected Action name is and then applies the scaling. This script has logic for landscape and portrait and will scale using the different algorithms (bicubic xxxx) depending if it is reducing the image or enlarging.   The parametersfor the scaling is long side and constraint proportions.
So if I have to add another size to the code, all I need to do is to add one line of code to the script, copy any of the existing Actions and rename the copied Action to the size and I am done.
I'm not a experience programmer so pls don't laugh at my coding but have done some C, C++, Fortran (Yes I'm an electrical engineer) in my days. A number of things has stumped me abit and one of them was the use of arrays which didn't work for me too well. I was to use the array for storing my parameters of each size. Another one that really got me puzzled was the use of the docRef = activeDocument object. The docRef.height and docRef.width will tell you the dimensions of the document based on the units set for rules. I set mine for pixels. The problem I had was the statement if(docRef.height > docRef.width) { do some stufff}. If I change the > to < for the same document it alway gives me a "true" logical. After some thoughts today, I suspect that true is anything not 0 and false is only 0. I will try this out tonight. This theory does not fit well with my understanding on how the if statement works in other languages. Any comments on this would be appreciated.
Oh and I noticed some extra code var declarations that is not needed such as the activeHistoryState - was determining if I need to use this or the perferences.rulerunits to restore my ruler perferences and apparently the activeHistoryState does not and forgot to remove from the code.

How to run a script from Calculation Manager

Hi All,
I would like to know how to run a script made by using Calculation Manager. I have converted a simple rule script which has just one statement(HS.EXP "A#Sales = 100") in "Sub Calculate()" by using FMRulesMigrator.exe and then imported, deployed to an application. when I execute "Calculate" from a Data Grid, the rule didn't take effect to application data. If I load the script by using classic rule editor, it works fine.
Is there anything I have to know to run a rule script which is made by using Calculation Manager?

Automaticly run Program\Script After and MSI Installation

Hi All,
Today I started looking into the use of Application Model in SCCM 2012.
It was easy to create an application by using the import MSI function, which automatically created the application, deployment type and detection rule. But I'm struggling with how to run a script afterwards, when the MSI installation was successful.
I've looked into creating 2nd deployment type making the first deployment type as it's dependency, but it's mandatory that I also need to make an detection rule. And this is where I'm stuck ass the detection rule I want to have the same as
for the first deployment type which will make it impossible to run because the condition will be evaluated ass already installed.
Is there a way to avoid the detection rule? If not is if possible trigger something after the first deployment type based on the errorlevel after the MSI installation.
My goal is to write a regkey somewhere in HKLM\Software\<company name> after an successful installation of an application. This location we've included in our hardware inventory for reporting purposes.
Any suggestions to achieve this goal are welcome .

I've resolved it with using the AddDploymentTypebyMISInstallerAuto function from the Add-CMDeployment command and provided an InstallationProgram parameter to override the default InstallationProgram.
The comman-line looks like

1. This configuration will be working for dedicated server only.
2. It seems you are using 10g R1 as 5560 port is default for EM on 10g R1.
3. Note as you didn't specify specific interface for incomming connections, rules will be applied on all interfaces available on your operating system.
4. correct your commands:

5. If you are using Redhat or RH clones (OEL) then you don't neet to write the script.
Just flush existing rules, execute your commands and execute:

Run vbs script from maxl shell

I created one vbs script (test.vbs) which copy file from one location to another one. I'm calling this vbs script from one maxl script (copy.msh).
Here is the code in copy.msh:

When I run copy.msh script from windows command line, I get the window popup message:

Ensure the $path variable is being assigned the correct value. Based on the error you quoted, its not being assigned a value at all.

How can I run a script last?

I have a single backup job running a single dataset. That single dataset has an include statement to include a dataset directory, which holds individual datasets for the several hosts I want to back up, each with potentially different parameters. This works well, the hosts back up in some order (I don't care), everything's happy.
However, what I want to do is add a step on the end of this process to run a report on the admin server after all the backups are complete. That is, to run a script once, last.
If I add an "after backup" command in the dataset, it runs it (as stated in the manual) on the client servers, after every backup, which is no good to me. I've tried creating a separate job and scheduling it at a lower priority a few minutes later than the backup job, but that seems to just run when it feels like it, I presume because there aren't any conflicts so why shouldn't it?
Can anyone advise how I should be doing this?
Related question... I've tried putting an "after backup" step on the Catalog backup job, but that appears to get run twice (I presume because there are two "include" steps in the catalog dataset)! Is this expected? How can I get it to just run once, after the catalog backup is complete?

We've actually purchased a license for OSB, so I've fired this question at our official support channel now, and they came back with the same answer at the same time (are you the Oracle techie looking at my problem, by any chance?). For the record here's (with some tweaks for readability in this context) what I've sent back in response to that article.
From the article, I thought perhaps the following might do the trick:

So it appears I’m not actually allowed to do that. I don’t understand why that would be.
The only other idea I have is to include a dummy backup step, backing up something really small (because OSB won’t let you run a backup without backing anything up - sigh!), tack a script onto that, and hope like heck OSB decides that it should run that last. All the documentation I’ve read gives the impression that datasets are all about scope, not order, so I’m not altogether confident that this will work. In any case, it seems a pretty kludgy way of doing it! And, given the next paragraph below, I’m not all that sure it’ll work in any case.
My idea of scheduling a catalog backup for five minutes later than the client backups, with a lower priority, so that it runs when the client backups finish, also has a flaw - if I use two tape drives in parallel, it runs the catalog job in parallel with the last client job, which is completely useless. I want to put on the end of the tape a backup of the catalog as at just after the client backups, so that in the case of a disaster I can restore that and I’ll be good to restore everything else.
In addition to being completely useless for the purposes of putting an “after” catalog backup on the end of the tape, it’s also completely useless for the purposes of running a script last - I tried the following:

This ran the pre-n-post script twice, once for each component of the catalog, which is altogether not what I want it to do.

The only way I can think to achieve the run-a-script-last is to munge all the datasets together into one humongous dataset file, and do stuff as in the article to try to bend OSB to my will (again, hoping that OSB obeys the order of statements in the dataset). Which, when I’m given the ability to use “include dataset /Hosts” to make it easy to maintain, seems a bit of a mean trick to pull on me. And, again, with two tape drives available I’m not at all sure it’ll work in any case.
I'll post further results as they come to light...

I run a script in win 7 Enterprise it worked but not in window 8.1

I run a script that hides folders and it worked in window 7 Enterprise, but then when I tried it in window 8.1 it did not work at all. Is there something I am missing ?

Following the suggestion from Thomas, I modified my script. It worked perfectly on my Window 7 Enterprise.Then I just took my flash-memory(where my script reside) and plugged it in my laptop (window 8.1) and started to run the script but it did not hide
the directory I intended to hide, and I did not get any error message either. I also tried to generate directories in different discs ...still it did not work. This Script is the corrected version after the suggestion of Thomas and Michael Taylor:

How to run a script on Oracle server from isqlplus

So far, you haven't specified your rdbms version and isqlplus behaved differently on a 9iR1, 9iR2 from the one release on 10gR1/R2. on 9i it was a servlet based on a JServ servlet executor machine, meanwhile on 10g it is a J2EE compliant application deployed on an OC4J container, so configuration is different.

Running Permission Scripts for App-V packages in VDI environment

We use App-V 5.0 SP1 in VDI environment.
We have a major problem with packages' permissions
Our users don't have administrative privileges on their machines.
As the option for "Security Descriptors" is discontinued, the only way to give permissions to a folder in a package is to use the VFSCACLS.vbs as a startup script of a package.
This way the first time users launch an application they're prompt to reopen it, and the second time they can use the application with the needed permissions.
The problem:
The script saves those permission changes under LOCALAPPDATA\AppV...
Therefore, everytime the users logoff the folder is deleted (VDI...) and again, they must run the script for the first again to get the permissions back after logon!
We cannot roam the LOCALAPPDATA\AppV folder as its size can be dozens of GBs...
Folder permissions with group policy is also not a solution, as the folder name changes everytime we upgrade a package and it's impossible to follow with hundreds of packages.
So it's either we're missing something critical in the architecture with VDI environment or there's a normal solution for these situations.

that's what I did! the problem is that I find my self over and over again want to sequence packages in App-V 5.0 and forced to sequence it in App-V 4.6.
I really hope that it wasn't App-V team's goal. announcing App-V 5.0 and tell us it doesn't support many things so we will still need App-V 4.6 forever.
I have to maintain 2 different App-V environments with 4 different servers , 4 different sequencers and 2 clients on each computer. it doesn't make any sense for me to forced to stay with both of the versions forever.
correct me if I'm wrong but App-V 4.6 is a legacy application. the new versions cover only support on newer operating systems and nothing more. I won't be surprised if in the next version of MDOP won't come with App-V 4.6 anymore and Microsoft will announced
it's unsupported very soon.
Every time I open a ticket with MS Support the best thing I get is "It's a known issue, we can't tell when it will be fixed"
can you help me more ? move it forward to other people from the inside? at least agree with me that something is not as expected in App-V 5.0... :(

Applescript: How to run a script once upon logon for multiple users

I'm deploying a NetRestore image to about 150 Macs which will be using Active Directory and I've designed a custom default user for each new user. However, our system requires a specialized certificate that has to be installed on the local login.keychain for each user otherwise network connectivity is impacted.
I've tried to use the security command through Terminal to install the certificate, but no matter what combination of commands, I cannot seem to get that to work properly even with an already-created user. While it will often say it's installed, the cert will not actually show up in the login keychain in Keychain Access. And the network connectivity is still impacted.
So instead, I created a brief AppleScript that just gives the user brief instructions to click "Add" on the prompt for which Keychain to add the cert and then "Always Trust" for the "This cert is not verified" prompt. Then it launches Keychain Access. Originally, I was going to have it actually click the buttons for the user, but I realized trying to get the whole Accessibility apps and assitive devices to work on every new user would be a nightmare.
I created the script on another 10.9 Mac using Automator to make it an actual application. I've used the instructions in OS X: Using AppleScript with Accessibility and Security features in Mavericks to sign it and I'm using root to move it from its network location into the Applications folder. I've adjusted the permissions to allow all Admin users to r/w (along with everyone else). To the root user, it shows as a usable application, but every other user on the Mac sees it as damaged/incomplete.
What I want to do is add it to the default Login Items, so I can run the final AppleScript command to simply remove the login items listing. That way I don't need to worry about it running again, but it's still available for the next user to sign onto the deployed Mac.
I know it's a little convoluted, but this is the final piece to the NetRestore deployment I've been working on for months. Any suggestions on how to make this work (or even a completely different solution) would be greatly appreciated.

I have run into this same issue. Are you trying to run the script one time as a new user logs in or everytime a user logs in?

Can you open a file in PS & run a script from LR?

So one of my commercial clients wants their product files in a variety of formats, including PNG with transparency. I'd love to be able to provide them with this from LR, but you can't export as a PNG. So I've written a script which takes the active document in PS, turns off the relevant layers, converts to sRGB, and saves as a PNG. Is there any way for me to invoke this script from LR, as I am opening the document? Ideally, I'd like to include it in the "Edit in" menu, as a menu item which would invoke PS and run the script. That way I could simply select the images, and get them processing while I do something else. Or do I have to open all the files and then run the script on all the open files?

Images are automatically saved back to the LR library but you need to follow a logical sequence for LR to render the export copy. You need to start the round trip from LR as follows and use the save command (Ctrl+S) not save as:
1) Ctrl+E in the Library to export selected image with develop settings (I choose PSD but tiff is also available in the prefs)
2) Edit in Photoshop; then Ctrl+S to replace (overwrite) Lightroom export copy
3) Ctrl+W to close in Photoshop and update Lightroom thumbnail. The saved copy is usually stacked next to the original so don't worry about XMP.

I'd like to run a script when a machine is about to suspend and another after it resumes. Is this possible?

You can pipe the results of Out-Command to Out-File (or Export-Csv, etc.) I'm not sure what kind of objects you're expecting from this script, so I'll err on the side of caution and use Format-List * in the example:
Invoke-Command -ComputerName $servers -FilePath c:\copy.ps1 |
Format-List -Property * |
Out-File -FilePath $home\Desktop\copy.log

How Can I run a script to all servers in my servers list

I have a Servers list:servers.txt , it's including all servers i need to run a powershell script,how can I use the powershell to run a script on those servers? thank you.I just start to learn about powershell.
