Run sql 2008 ssis package into sql server 2012 machine

Hello,
I have created a ssis package in sql server 2008 and use a job to execute it pointing to databaseA. works fine.
Then, I place that package into a sql server 2012 machine and use a job to execute it in the same database, databaseA.
The error I get is something like:
can not use the old version in the new version machine.
Is this really the case or am I doing something wrong please?

Hi Arkiboys,
Arthur is right that the error occurs because the SSIS 2008 package cannot be upgraded to SSIS 2012 package. When the SSIS 2008 package is called by SSIS 2012 dtexec utility tool, the package will be upgraded temporarily and the changes won’t be saved. Since
your current SSIS 2008 package cannot be upgraded automatically, you can create the package from scratch in SSDT installed by SQL Server 2010. Another option isto open the SSIS 2008 package in SSDT or add the package to a SSIS 2012 project, then the upgrade
will be performed automatically. Then, you can check the error message during the upgrade, which may help you to find the tasks/components that cause the upgrade failure. In this way, you can remove the tasks/components in question from the SSIS 2008 package
and then upgrade the package, and then add the tasks/components in question in SSDT 2010.

Symptom: When you install Reporting Service Point role on a Site System Server running SQL Server

This implies that ODP.NET does NOT need to be installed on a client. However, I cannot find OraOPs9.dll on a machine with Client Release 9.2 installed. Should OraOps?.dll automatically come with a Client installation of 9.2 or higher?
ODP.NET needs to be installed on the client. OraOps9.dll is part of ODP.NET, not the Oracle Client.
Also, if an application is built with the 10g ODP.NET, can it be run from a machine with OraOps9.dll?
If an application is built with 10g ODP.NET, it can be run with 9.2 ODP.NET as long as you do not use any 10g APIs. The new features in 10g ODP.NET are included in the doc and the ODP.NET FAQ for your reference.

  • Unable to run sql server 2012 setup

    Hi All,
I installed SharePoint 2013 on Application Server and Database(Sql Server 2012) on another server. But for reporting application I need to install some components of SQL on Application Server as well. When I try to run the installer it crashes and
    shows this below dialog box.
When I debug this I get the below error.
I saw some suggestions saying it won't work with Remote Desktop so directly connected the monitor to the server and tried to install but nothing works again. Let me know if I am doing anything wrong.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Did you install the .net framework 4.0?

  • Data Retrieval from SSRS 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2012 standard

    Hello,
We have a virtual machine running SSRS 2008 R2 and a physical server running SQL server 2012 standard.  We are having an issue with a report that is taking almost 10 minutes for the data to be retrieved from the sql 2012 database.  We used the
execution logging query to debug and analyze.  We see that it renders and processes very fast, but the data retrieval time is very slow.  When the same query is run using sql studio mgr. from the SSRS server it runs just fine...it
takes seconds for the results to come up.
I don't believe there is a compatibilty issue because other reports run fine.  We're just having problems with one report.

A long shot, but I've seen where the data type of a report parameter is mismatched against the data type of the table it is being compared against.  SQL profiler would show this clearly.
This would explain why the query returns quickly in ssms but not with the report.

  • Which version of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 OLE DB Provider for DB2 needed?

    Hello, first time posting.....
I am developing an SSIS package that needs to connect to DB2 tables. My environment does not have the necessary providers installed (SQL Server 2012 OLE DB Provider for DB2).
I am running SSIS on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard server, w/ SQL Server 2012 R2 installed.
I noticed OLEDB Provider for DB2 v4.0 for SQL Server 2012 does not support Windows Server 2008 R2.
Also, there appears to be a version 5 OLEDB Provider for DB2, bundled with SQL Server 2014 Feature Pack, but I am not running SQL 2014.
Could someone please tell me which version I need to install for Windows Server 2012 R2, running SQL Server 2012 R2?
    Thanks!

Also, there appears to be a version 5 OLEDB Provider for DB2, bundled with SQL Server 2014 Feature Pack, but I am not running SQL 2014.
The DB2 OleDB Provider is completly independend of the used SQL Server/SSIS Version; you can use that one.

  • How to get PDF iFilter to recognize "pdf" document_type instead of ".pdf" in SQL Server 2012

    Hi,
If this isn't the correct forum for this question, I apologize.
I am running SQL Server 2012 on a Windows 7 Pro (64-bit) laptop and wish to be able to perform Full-Text searches against the contents of PDF files that have been loaded into my database using a FileTable. I have not been able to get the PDF iFilter v11.0 working whatsoever so I uninstalled it and installed v9.0 of the Adobe PDF iFilter.  I have confirmed that this filtering works on PDF documents I've inserted into a regular table and specified the file_type as '.pdf'.  However, when SQL Server loads the documents into a FileTable, the filter_type is set to 'pdf' (note: the period is not included -- ".pdf").  When I issue the ALTER FULLTEXT INDEX <tablename> START FULL POPULATION, no indexing occurs against the FILETABLE.
I've examined the Full-Text Search crawl log and there are no errors occurring. Simply messages stating the population is starting and then completed.
I've searched the forums here and elsewhere and haven't been able to find a work-around for this.
Is there any way to get the PDF iFilter to recognize the 'pdf' filter_type in addition to the '.pdf' filter_type?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Steve

  • Excel 2007 Download Error from SQL Server 2012

Thank you for your help/comments in advance
We are running SQL Server 2012, downloading SSRS reports into Excel 2007.
The report renders to the monitor just fine.
Most downloads are fine but we get an error with the largest downloads (common denominator) but can be hit or miss.  Usually a second try it will download.  Today we tried numerous times and kept getting the error.

    Hi Nusrat Akhter,
According to your description, when installing the first install failed, and it looks like the instance did not uninstall completely. To solve the issue I recommend you changed the instance name in re-installing SQL Server, and check if it can work fine.
There is a similar issue that the SQL engine will not start, and there is no method of uninstalling either it, or any of the components etc. You can review the following post.

  • SQL Server 2012 Installed KB2793634 and it completed successfully but display error in the event log

    Hi
    Running SQL Server 2012 with SP1 on Windows 7 x64 SP1
One of the machines that this is installed displayed that the Windows Installer was starting repeatedly, like every 30 secs
I installed KB2793634 and everything completed successfully.  No errors in any of the Summary, Detail, etc and all check marks at the end.  I went throught the event viewer and in the application log and saw the following
Product: SQL Server 2012 Database Engine Services - Update '{4023B523-7241-4B6D-83A4-92105B0A3DC8}' could not be installed. Error code 1642. Windows Installer can create logs to help troubleshoot issues with installing software packages. Use the
following link for instructions on turning on logging support:
Is this something with the KB.  How do I find what the issue is and what do I do to fix it? Or is this a real error?
I brought up SQL Server and the issue that the KB resolves seems to been resolved.  I can connect to the instance just fine, the version of the KB has been applied to the instance so now it is at 11.0.3128
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
According to the description, I know the patch that was successfully installed after the msiinstaller error.
    1. Per
KB304888 and mentioned the possibility that the hotfix was launched a second time after the initial successful update.
I suspect if you have installed any hotfixes or Cumulative updates after installing Service Pack 1 for SQL Server 2012.

    2. Check the application log. Is the error happening intermittently?

Great to find your response and excellent reference /article (WIKI publishing, your writing). I have followed your options accordingly to Connect or establish connection with SQL server through client machine ( using IP address and network) but failed and
shows the time out error as  bellow screen shoot for your assessment.
    SQL SERVER MANAGER OPTION:
-SQL server services:- I got five options as find bellow pic. Except  SQL server Agent rest of the options are running well.
As I mentioned i am running SQL server-2012 ( Express edition), so i am not sure, is it a mandatory provision to not run, So please feedback in that option.
IP Config: I have tested IP address ( IPv4) and AZAD-PC, 127.0.0.1 those are responding well ( I have't yet set-up IPv6) including Ping testing.
Using SQL Server Management Studio on the computer running SQL Server, connect to the instance of SQL Server. In Object Explorer, expand Management, expand SQL Server Logs, and then double-click the current log.
In the Log Viewer, click the Filter button on the toolbar. In the Message contains text box, type server is listening on, click Apply filter, and then click OK.
I have configured accordingly on Management Studio.
    Enable Protocols:
I have done that and also set-up IP address (IPv4) in all of the IP address options and port no 1433
    Testing TCP/IP Connectivity:
Yes, it was success through all the option except ( IPv6)
Testing a Local Connection on Client Machine:
    Yes, Working fine.
    Testing the Connection:
Failed. I have tried to connect to my machine ( Management studio) using the server name:AZAD-PC\SQLEXPRESS:- failed shows the error no.26, But connected using:AZAD-PC
    on ( Management Studio).
Please provide your feedback to resolve the issue.
    regard
    Azad

I try to turn on the SQL Browser service, it fails to connect.
I even turn off the Windows Firewall on SQL Server 2012 machine, it still fails.

  • Package migration from SSIS 2008 R2 to SQL server 2012

    hi guys:
My company has decided to use Sql server 2012 for the database service, Integration service as well as analysis service
The first question is which tool I should install to run packages ? in SQL Server 2008 R2, I've installed BIDS which is inside the disk.
Also do I need to install any visual studio tools? I was under the impression that the BIDS 2008 was using kinda shell visual studio.
     Thanks
     Hui

    Hi cat_ca,
To develop package in SQL Server 2012 Integration Services, we use the SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT 2012) which can be installed from the SQL Server 2012 install media. The SSDT 2012 use Visual Studio 2010 shell by default and can be integrated into Visual
Studio 2010. By installing SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2012, we can also integrate SSDT 2012 into Visual Studio 2012. However, SSDT 2012 cannot be integrated into Visual Studio 2013. As far as I know, the SSDT 2014 released
in SQL Server 2014 RTM will use the Visual Studio 2013 shell and can be integrated into Visual Studio 2013.

  • Run DTSX Package in SQL Server 2012

    Hi,
Can I run the DTSX packages( Developed in SQL Server 2008 R2 ) directly in SQL Server 2012 without converting into SSIS . Can anyone tell me the procedures to execute a DTSx packages in SQL server SQL Server 2012 without converting into SSIS.
One Common Parent Package calls all the Child packages. i.e 32 bit on 64 bit
    Regards,

If you want to run packages without upgrading you can make use of command line utility like DTExec for executing them.
If you open them in a Integration Services project in 2012 then will automatically  upgrade packages to new version.

  • How do I load an SSIS package created in Visual Studio 2012 Shell (Integrated) onto SQL Server 2012 using SQL Management Studio 2012

I am fairly new to this whole process of working with the Microsoft development environment.  Here is what I have to work with:
an NT server running Microsoft SQL 2012  - Microsoft SQL Server Standard (64-bit)  11.0.2100.60
and on my laptop (all freebie downloads):
SQL Server Management Studio 2012            ver 11.0.2100.60
Visual Studio 2012 Express  for Desktop Development and
    Visual Studio 2012 Shell (Integrated)
I was able to create an SSIS package in
2012 Shell (Integrated).  It takes a flat file and imports it into an SQL database table.  It runs successfully from within the
    2012 Shell (Integrated) envrionment.
But I am having trouble figuring out how to set this up on the 2012 SQL Server.  I see that one of my colleagues created an Integration Services Catalog,
and using SQL Management Studio I was able to create a folder under that called DigLic.  But when I go to the Projects subfolder of DigLic and attempt to import my SSIS package, I get an error message:
"To launch the Integration Services Deployment wizard, one of the components: Integration Services, Management Tools - Basic or Business Intelligence Development Studio has to be installed by the SQL Server
2012 Standard, Enterprise, Developer, or Evaluation Edition.  To install a component, run SQL Server Setup and Select the component name"
I realize that Express Versions of Visual Studio lack the full feature set of a professional version.  But am I wrong in assuming that owning a server version of SQL Server 2012 gives us license to a professional
version of SQL Management Studio 2012?  If so, how would I go about getting this software component installed?  And I am not clear if this is something that needs to be installed on our SQL Server or if I simply need a professional version of SSMS
    loaded on my laptop.
I work for a company that is fairly fractured in its repsonsibilities, so I would need to know exactly what to ask for if I need to track down any licenses that I might need and if I need to have any specific software installed on our SQL server or on my
    laptop.
All helpt would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Arthur,
Thank you for your reply.  But at this point, one of my points of confusion is what software I have available to me.  I wish I had a useful central help desk to call up and just say, "Hey, load me up with all of the professional version(s) of Visual
Studio.  But I do not know what we have license to.  And I kind of need to know what the options are, so that I can ask a specific question of our vast buracracy.
For now, I have downloaded only free versions of Visual Studio client software.  Since my company does have servers running Microsoft SQL Server, I am going to assume that we have proper licensing for those servers.  But does that server license
allow me to get any professional versions of the PC client software for the various Visual Studio(s) 2012?
And if I get a professional version of Visual Studio 2012, does that do away with the three different flavors that I have right now?  I have 2012 versions of SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio Express, and Visual Studio Shell (Integrated).
    Your feedback is much appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Msg 8631 Internal error: Server stack limit has been reached on SQL Server 2012 from T-SQL script that runs on SQL Server 2008 R2

I have an Script mostly that is generated by SSMS which works with-out issue on SQL Server 2008, but when I attempt to run it on a new fresh install of SQL Server 2012 I get an Msg 8631. Internal error: Server stack limit has been reached. Please look for
potentially deep nesting in your query, and try to simplify it.
The script itself doesn't seem to be all that deep or nested.  The script is large 2600 lines and when I remove the bulk of the 2600 lines, it does run on SQL Server 2012.  I'm just really baffled why something that SQL Server generated with very
few additions/changes AND that WORKS without issue in SQL Server 2008 R2 would suddenly be invalid in SQL Server 2012
I need to know why my script which is working great on our current SQL Server 2008 R2 servers suddenly fails and won't run on an new SQL Server 2012 server.  This script is used to create 'bulk' Replications on a large number of DBs saving a tremendous
amount of our time doing it the manual way.
Below is an 'condensed' version of the script which fails.  I have removed around 2550 lines of specific sp_addarticle statements which are mostly just copy and pasted from what SQL Management Studio 'scripted' for me went I when through the Replication
Wizard and told it to save to script.
