Run-time compiling trouble.

Hello. I wrote the simple command-prompt program that tries to compile existent java code. Any tries are ends with message: error: Can't read: d:\vcs\tries\test.java

There are code:

Just a shot in the dark, but you don't have any spaces between your arguements.
And you have to tell it to read from the array at a given position. args[1], args[2].

    The run-time engine isn't really compiled with your built application since it's a separate program. You can, however, include the installer as part of your build so that when you deploy your application you will also distribute the run-time engine with it. From the LabVIEW documentation:
    If you use the Application Builder to build an installer for an application or shared library, you can add the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine to the installer build. From the Additional Installers page of the Installer Properties dialog box, place a checkmark in the NI LabVIEW Run-Time Engine checkbox in the National Instruments Installers to Include listbox.
    Generally, the run-time engine is a separate install, and the installer for it is included on the LabVIEW CD, or you can download it from NI: http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/1F1EBEA6D03A67E6862570A400531F97?opendocument&node=13206...

    Regarding File Adapter - WinXP at compile time, Unix at run time
    I want to specify polling of a directory using Unix type directory notation but this doesn't compile under windows. (I'll read up re. logical directories)
    Has anyone done polling of a unix directory using BPEL (but compiled this under windows JDeveloper)?

  • Run compiled application (LV 8.6) without run-time engine

    Hi,
    I just recently wrote a small 200KB program that performs simple calculations that I'd like to use on several different computers.  The application works perfectly, but the problem is that I really don't want to go through the download/install/reboot process of installing the LabVIEW Run-time 8.6 software on every single computer (especially since downloading a 100MB file to run a 200KB program seems counter-intuitive).   Is there a way to get the application to run without the engine?  Previous searches resulted in old posts of people simply copying the engine files from the shared folder into the application directory, but that did not work when I tried it.  Is this no longer possible on LV 8.6?   I'll have no choice but to rewrite the application in a different programming language if LabVIEW isn't capable of running standalone compiled applications.

    I made the test with LV 8.6 on Windows.
    I used a VI which does not need any drivers neither serial nor any other hardware execpt the graphics card.
    I made an application from this VI on my normal development machine and checked that it will start and work as expected.
    I setup a NI free partition with Win XP Prof. SP2. I have some non NI programs installed like a virus scanner, defragmentation tool, Adobe Reader, a drive imageing tool and WLAN drivers. The .NET Framework 2.0 is installed.
    I copied the application and all files under National Instruments\shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\8.6 to the machine in a temporary folder.
    I booted the machine into this partition. The application will start and work as expected. You do not need to make a complete runtime installation until you do not need any drivers.
    The above mentioned folder has a size of about 64 MByte. Dependent on the application and desired languages you can remove parts of it.

    during the various LV 8.x versions it was possible to do it as described above exepct one version, 8.2 I think, which needed an ini-File in the Windows folder.

  • Java compile and run time questions

    Hello, I have two generic question about java compile and run:
    1. When I used javac to compile my project, it complained some classes can't be found. I added the jar file which contains these needed classes to the jre/lib/ext/ directory. The compiler no longer complains. But I'm confused. I thought the jar files in jre/lib/ext/ only used for java run time, not the compile time. Can someone help me to explain this?
    2. If I need certain user defined jar file in the classpath to compile my application, does that imply that I have to have that jar file if I want to run my project?

    1. lib/ext is used for generally finding classes, it doesn't matter whether you are compiling or running.

  • I have trouble in building stand-alone application, "you must intall Labview run-time engine on any computer on which you want to run this application"

    I have installed the LabVIEW 7.0 run time engine and checked all in the advanced setup on the installer setup slide. but I still get such a message saying that the target computer needs to have LabVIEW 7.0 run-time engine. What I want is a real stand-alone application even without having labview ... I used to think that's due to my program contains MATLAB nodes. But this is not true, since even without Matlab, it's still wrong. Please help, thanks!!!

    As was stated elsewhere, you have the option of building the runtime engine into your application when you build it. However, you can also create a "runtime engine application" by simply opening the application builder and doing a build without adding any source code files. The result is a small program (named lvrt.exe) that can run any LabVIEW code--whether or not its built into an executable.
    Such an application can be helpful if you are wanting to install several LV-based applications on the same computer in that it reduces the amount of redundant code on disk. All you have to do is make sure that Windows on the target computer associates the llb and vi file extensions with the runtime engine program.
    It can also be helpful during testing to run test code that isn't built into an executable.

    Try the tutorial.
    It sounds like your error message comes from compiling. For example, "javac mysourcecode.java" If that is correct, the most common trouble comes from using a program like Notepad on Windows to create the soruce code. The tutorial will walk your through it.

  • Loading style sheets at run time

    I have created few fonts css and compiled them into swf to
    load them at run time.
    There is one custom component Card, is placed into a Module
    and this Module is loaded by main application.
    The Card component contains TextArea, MyTextArea(custom
    component) and ComboBox (which display font list).
    Now when user select any font from ComboBox, Card component
    load css and when it get loaded, it updates fontFamily of TextArea
    and MyTextArea. But only TextArea updated with new fonts while
    MyTextArea is not getting update anytime.
    Can anyone help me to figure out this.

  • "no data found" run-time error masking SQL/report mismatch

    Hi all,
    At last, figured out a vexing problem and wondering if anyone else either:
    a) has also hit the problem, and hopefully
    b) has figured out a clever way around it.
    Namely, in our AppEx apps, we rely on SQL query generation from PL/SQL packaged functions. This "best practice" promotes reuse, automated testing, etc. Great idea - works great.
    However, we've repeatedly come across a situation where we go to run a page with a report on it only to get a "report error: ORA-01403: no data found" message where the report should be. Not much to go on. After trial and error, it turns out that simply going to the Region Definition page (where the PL/SQL function call is defined) and clicking the "Apply Changes" button cleared the problem up.
    Mystifying because the actual SQL query generated by the PL/SQL is valid (we've got a nightly testing job that pulls the PL/SQL function calls out of the AppEx metadata tables, executes them to get back the SQL and then validates the SQL).
    Turns out this problem looks to be a result of columns changing in the actual SQL itself, and hence not matching up to the Region Attributes (column names, one assumes) that AppEx knows about. Simply clicking Apply Changes causes AppEx to validate the returned query and then it adjusts the column attributes (one assumes) so that things match up.
    So - the $64,000 question(s):
    1) Are there any cool AppEx APIs to be able to try and detect this situation? Given an app of middling complexity (50-100 pages, each with various queries/reports), this is not an attractive issue to deal with manually.
    2) Any cool AppEx APIs to fix, or auto-sync these situations? (Essentially programmatically calling the "Apply Changes" button if you will).
    At a minimum, it would be great if AppEx could be updated to put out some kind of more informative error message when this occurs - maybe something along the lines of "Region Attributes Do Not Match Data Returned from Query", or something like that at least.

    Vikas actually did me the favor of pretty much clarifying my info for me (tks Vikas). Yes, to all the above. It's PL/SQL code generating a SQL query, so 1 is (a); we want to use query-specific columns so it is (2a). And yes, the whole problem is that the something does change to cause the SELECT statement column list to change...nature of the beast, so "don't do that" doesn't really help here.
    Scott - sorry, should have been more explicit. Basically, we have a PL/SQL function behind a report that returns a SQL statement for the report. If that PL/SQL code changes to add a new column to the report (without going to the corresponding Report Attributes page and clicking the "Apply Changes" button to get AppEx to revalidate the query), then you wind up with this "no data found" error msg, which doesn't exactly point you to the root of the problem.
    It seems as though the "parse at compile-time" is really what's going on here. There must be some kind of "run-time" check going on as well, that is resulting in the "no data found" message. Seems as though it ought to be fairly straightforward to add some kind of check at run-time to handle that exception a little cleaner. Is there an official process to register a "Request for Process Enhancement" for AppEx to do this?
    In the meantime, thank you Vikas for the pointer to the APEX_APPLICATION_PAGE_RPT_COLS view - that looks like it will do the trick nicely. Given that, we can now add logic to our nightly "app tester" job that can compare what columns AppEx expects to find in a given report (for a given page) with the actual SQL (coming back from the PL/SQL function call) to essentially "validate" the AppEx meta data and at least let us know when these things get out of sync.
    BTW - if anyone would be interested in the actual contents of that "app tester" logic, I'd be happy to post it (someplace...here? Studio site?). It's basically just a PL/SQL block of code that currently runs in cron that just validates any SQL embedded in our app. (I suppose it is a little "hard-coded" since it does use our naming conventions for packages/functions to parse the PL/SQL calls from the Meta Data but it might still serve as a usefull starting point...) Since our AppEx app(s) sit on top of a database schema that is in fairly constant flux, we need the ability to know when somebody has changed something in the schema that needs to be accounted for in AppEx. The job primarily just parses the AppEx meta data to find PL/SQL function calls that return SQL, executes that PL/SQL to get the generated SQL, then just validates that SQL and reports back any invalid SQL calls. Perhaps we're in some unusual development environment (15-20 people working on a database schema with 700-800 tables/views) but it seems as though it would be fairly easy, for anybody using PL/SQL to generate SQL (which is a GREAT and powerful thing, by the way - thanks to whoever thought that up in AppEx land) to run into this issue.

  • Unable to run vi with labview run time engine

    Hi All,
    I have a VI that controls and reads from an NI PXI Spectrum Analyser (5600). The VI works perfectly as expected, I can make a project of it and create a runtime application and installation with no problems, using Labview 8.6.
    When I make a call to it from Test Stand 4.1 it works lovely.
    When I change the VI adaptor in Test Stand 4.1 from development to use the LV Run Time engine 8.6 it fails to work, Test Stand gives the following dialogue (see attached).
    I have uninstalled all older versions of Labview as I've had similair issues before, I've mass compiled everything I think is associated with this VI.
    I don't really understand! And am tearing my hair out.
    The only idea I have is that perhaps there is something in one of the 5 DLLs that is causing a problem or the NI_AALBase.lvlib, NIAALPro.lvlib or NI_PtbyPt.lvlib librarys that are password locked and I presume don't get mass compiled.
    I have attached the problemVI.lvproj.

    it sounds like you are having older versions of toolkit/driver VIs in your application. In developement environment, this works since the dev-system is capable to recompile older VIs just during loading and therefor not having issues with older versions.
    Running the VIs using the Runtime Engine, recompilation is not possible. Because every VI knows "its version", the VI will not be executable unless the RTE version matches the VI's. If the VI is older (or newer, doesn't matter), the observed error occurs.
    Please make sure that you have current versions of drivers and toolkits installed in your LV environment instead of simply copy them from older versions of LV (this would be the common source for such issues).

  • Unable to locate labview run time engine (lab view 8.5)

    Hello I have a problem whit the labview 8.5 installer. I have created I project with included a .vi file (a simple panel wich control a serial port, with parameters (baud rate, stop bits, ...)), then I have created an application for this file (.exe) and then the installer (I have included the labview run time engine 8.5). When I run the setup.exe  I have the following error message:
    Unable to locate labview run time engine, the application require a labview run time engine 8.5 or compatible...
    What I'm missing??

    are there one other reasons why it would not work.  I have asimilar problem.
    I intsalled version 8 of run time engine and acrtivated software.  Now I am trying to run compiled application provided to me by third party.
    When I click on application it says
    Unable to locate LV run time engine
    Test server requires a version 6.0 or compatible LV engine.
    How do I know if the engine I installed and activated is running and is it supposed to be able to execute a program which is expectin rev 6 of the rund engine?

    Hello.
    I have a DLL made with LV 7.1 I run the dll using a C compiler and works great in WINXP, but cannot run in Win2K. Error is:
    "System error 998 while loading the Labview Run-Time Engin(c:\program
    files\National Instruments\Shared\Labview Run-Time\7.1\\lvrt.dll)
    READVOLTAGE requires a version 7.1 (or compatible) Labview Runtime
    Engine. Please contact the vendor of READVOLTAGE to correct this
    problem"
    READVOLTAGE is my function inside the dll. The runtime is already
    installed. I tried it in another WINXP running machine and works fine.

    This is actually a Microsoft bug with statically loaded DLLs. There are a couple of workarounds for it, and I have included two links below to posts that address this issue:

  • Error -17600 when switching from LabVIEW Development System to LabVIEW Run-Time Engine in Adapter Configuration

    I receive an error message (code -17600) while loading my test sequence after switching from LabVIEW Development System (2009 f3) to LabVIEW Run-TIme Engine using the Adapter Configuration.
    ErrorCode: -17600,
    Failed to load a required step's associated module.
    LabVIEW Run-Time Engine version 9.0.1f3.
    When I switch back to the LV development system, everything is OK, and the sequence loads and runs perfectly.
    My TestStand Engine Version is 2012 f1 (5.0.0.262).
    I'd appreciate any help on this issue.

    Hi Roman,
    There are a couple of things you can try:
    1) Determine if the LabVIEW RunTime Engine is corrupted in some way. Create a new simple VI with no sub-VIs, using the same LabVIEW Development system you used for mass-compiling the VIs. Create a TestStand step that calls this VI and ensure it runs correctly. Now switch your LabVIEW adapter to use the RuntimeEngine and choose the "Auto detect using VI version" option.
    Check if the simple VI is loadable and runs without errors in TestStand.
    If the step generates the same error, you should try a re-install of the LabVIEW development system.
    If not, its most likely that there is some VI you are using that is not loadable in the LabVIEW Runtime Engine because:
    1) Some sub-VI is still not saved in the right version or bitness. Open the VI heirarchy of the top-level VI that you are calling from TestStand and examine the paths of all the sub-VIs to check if they were in the folder you masscompiled and re-save any that are outside this directory.
    Also, when you try to close the top level VI, do you get a prompt to save any unsaved files? If so, they could be the sub-VIs that are not saved in the right version. Save all of them.
    Check if you are loading any VIs programatically and if these are compiled and saved in the right version as well.
    2) There is some feature you are using in your LabVIEW code that is not supported in the LabVIEW RunTime Engine. To check this, add your top-level VI to a LabVIEW project and create a new build specification and create a new executable from this VI.
        Right-click "Build Specifications" and choose "New->Application(EXE)".
        In the Application Properties window, select Source Files and choose the top level VI as the start-up VI.
        Save the properties.
        Right-click on the newly created build specification and choose Build.
    Run this executable (it will be run using the LabVIEW RunTime) and check if the VI has a broken arrow indicating that it cannot be loaded and run in the LabVIEW Runtime Engine.
    You might need to examine your code and find the feature which is not supported in the LabVIEW RunTime and find an alternative.
    Another thing i forgot to mention the last time around is if you are using 64-bit LabVIEW with 32-bit TestStand, then executing code using LabVIEW RTE from TestStand will not work since the 64-bit LabVIEW RTE dll cannot be loaded by the 32-bit TestStand process.
    If none of the above steps resolve the issue, consider sharing your LabVIEW code so i can take a look.
