Runing procedures from client

When I run procedure from clint, the client is frozen for time
of execution procedure.
Is any way to start procedure from client in batch proces or any
other way
which don't froze client for the time when procedure is running?
Vojko

you can use the batch capabilitites of the database to run your
procedure.
Just package your call into a DBMS_JOB call.

  • How to copy tax procedure TAXINJ from Client 000 to Dev client in ECC 6.0

    Hi,
    We are facing a problem for TAXINJ and TAXINN procedure, which are not available in our development client, but available in client 000.
    Please advice how to copy those procedures from client 000 to development client.
    (In client 000, we can not create a trabnsport request).

    Hello ravi,
    first  check  whether there request being generated at the time og customization in the server where the standard procedures exist.
    if yes,then you just need to change a little bit of description of these procedures and save system will ask for the development request or customization request.,you can then ask the basis guy to transport it.
    remember it is only a work around solution.
    nevertheless you can also create it manually

    Hi,
    you need to find which SQL is running slower, using some tools as dbms_profiler, dbms_hprof, ASH, extended SQL trace and real-time SQL monitor (caution: some of the tools may require Diagnostic Pack License).
    Then you need to pinpoint difference in the plans and understand its origin -- post plans here if you need help with that (use tags to preserve formatting).
    Best regards,

  • Regarding Batch Jobs for migration of data from client DB to our local DB

    Hi Folks,
    GoodDay, Previously I worked as a Oracle Developer and recently shifted into a BIG organisation as PL?SQL developer. Here my base work is with INTERFACES(Stored Procedure). That is retrieving data from client DB and need to put the data in our staging tables. For that i created 2 INTERFACES(stored procedures). One is for one time migration. No need to run on regular basis. The second one is to run regularly why because if any updations are done in client DB that should be replicate to our DB. For that we need to run a BATCH JOB regulary 24X7 basis.
    But i dont have any working knowledge on BATCH JOB creation and running. Please let me guide on this issue ASAP.
    Regards,
    Ramesh.

    You can try
    dbms_job(9i)
    or
    dbms_scheduler(10g)
    just out of curiosity.. tell me if you are interested...
    what you were doing as a "oracle developer" ( is it like writing only "sql" )...

  • Calling stored procedure from EJB in JSever

    I have some trouble to call stored procedure from EJB deployed to JServer on Oracle8i (815).
    I have been able to sucessfully test the stored procedure using thin client JDBC driver. But when I user the default connection in JServer, the stored procedure never got called. Is there any restriction of EJB in JServer?
    Thanks
    null

    Thanks man! that was a great help. looks like i am almost there. i created those items t obe hidden.
    now i am passing three parameters to the procedure. my url for that column value looks like this,
    javascript:P65_PARTITION_ID=#PARTITION_ID#;P65_DBC=#DBC#;P65_FILE_ID=#FILE_ID#;doSubmit('Sku_Save');
    the #DBC# parameter is a name of the person that has spaces(firstname lastname). i am getting a javascript error saying,
    Line: 1
    Char: 37
    Error:Expected ';'
    i see that char 37 is the space after firstname.
    any idea how i should get rid of this error.
    Also, as you have been very helpful, a question further beyond :). the above procedure will return a OUT varchar parameter. i guess i have to create another item for that. how do i read it and display just below my report as text.
    Thanks Again!

    I have a select query (which refers to views and calls a function), which fetches results in 2 secs when >executed from database. But takes more than 10 mins from the client.You are providing proof for the latter part of your statement above.
    But not for the former part (fetches in 2 secs when exec'd from db).
    It would have been nice if you also provide the sql-trace information for that.
    Without it we cannot help you much. Other than making the observation that you obviously have a query that is I/O bound, and that I/O on your system is rather slow: on average an I/O takes 0.04 seconds (66.77 divided by 1663).

  • Calling a procedure from a package or another procedure

    Hi all,
    I am trying to call a couple of procedures defined in a package using the 'call' method without any success.
    i tried to create a third procedure and call the other two procedures from there, still without success. Can some one tell me the right method? also i've been trying to research a lot, but havent found any helpful documentation. where would i look for good help material on PL/SQL?
    Purvi.

    All Oracle's documentation is available online at http://tahiti.oracle.com. In particular, the PL/SQL User's Guide would probably be the most helpful to you.
    "call" is something that is generally used on client applications (ODBC and JDBC based). It is not used when calling stored procedures in PL/SQL. If you have procedures proc1 and proc2, you can call them from a third stored procedure proc3 like this
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE proc1
    AS
    BEGIN
      dbms_output.put_line( 'proc1' );
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE proc2
    AS
    BEGIN
      dbms_output.put_line( 'proc2' );
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE proc3
    AS
    BEGIN
      proc1();
      proc2();
    END;If both proc1 and proc2 were in a package called myPkg, and proc3 was a standalone procedure, you would need to modify it to reference the package name
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE proc3
    AS
    BEGIN
      myPkg.proc1();
      myPkg.proc2();
    END;Justin

  • Problem in calling Oracle stored procedure from Java.

    I am trying to invoke the Oracle stored procedure from Java. The procedure does not take any parameters and does not return anything. If I call it from SQL prompt it is working perfectly. I am calling it in my program as follows.
    callable_stmt=con.prepareCall("{call pkg_name.proc_name()}");
    callable_stmt.execute();
    The problem is the control-of-flow is getting strucked in the second line I wrote. It is not giving any error also.
    Please clarify me what's wrong with my code?
    Seenu.

    And how long does the stored procedure take to run from your client machine when running it via sqlplus?

  • Calling Oracle Stored Procedure from BC4J JSP App

    I am on an extremely tight deadline and am trying to get my JSP application to use an Oracle Stored Procedure. I need to take some input from the user and send these values as parameters. Has anyone worked with Stored Procedures in JDev3.1? Please reply with some sample code if possible.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Someone posted a similar request the other day. Here is my response to them:
    Basically, you need to create a custom method from your JSP's ViewObject, which calls the stored procedure. You can then call the ViewObject's custom method from the JSP client.
    Here is how I have done it:
    1. Choose the ViewObject that your JSP is based on and choose 'Edit' from the context menu.
    2. On the Java tab of the ViewObject wizard, choose Generate Java File checkbox for the View Object Class and click the Finish button. A file is created under the ViewObject node in the Navigator named 'viewobjectImpl.java'.
    3. Open the viewobjectImpl.java file in the code editor and create a method to call your stored procedure (see sample code below).
    4. Compile the VOImpl.java file.
    5. Choose the view object again, and choose Edit again from the context menu.
    6. On the Client Methods tab, you should now see your method appear in the Available field. Select it and shuttle it to the Selected field.
    7. Click Finish to leave the VO wizard, and rebuild your Business Components project.
    8. In your JSP, call the custom method (see sample code below).
    sample code for custom method calling a stored procedure from VOImpl.java file:
    public int getTotalHits(String mon, String year) {
    CallableStatement stmt = null;
    int total;
    // the call to the PL/SQL stored proc
    String totalhits = "{? = call walkthru.total_hits(?,?)}";
    // use the AM conxn 2 call storedproc
    stmt = getDBTransaction().createCallableStatement(totalhits, 1);
    try
    // Bind the Statement Parameters and //Execute this Statement

  • Calling stored procedure from BC4J

    How can I call a stored procedure in a JSP using the BC4J framework?
    null

    Vitor,
    Basically, you need to create a custom method from your JSP's ViewObject, which calls the stored procedure.
    8. In your JSP, call the custom method (see sample code below).
    sample code for custom method calling a stored procedure from VOImpl.java file:
    public int getTotalHits(String mon, String year) {
    CallableStatement stmt = null;
    int total;
    // the call to the PL/SQL stored proc
    String totalhits = "{? = call walkthru.total_hits(?,?)}";
    // use the AM conxn 2 call storedproc
    stmt = getDBTransaction().createCallableStatement(totalhits, 1);
    try
    // Bind the Statement Parameters and Execute this Statement
    stmt.registerOutParameter(1,Types.INTEGER);
    stmt.setString(2,mon);
    stmt.setString(3,year);
    stmt.execute();
    total = stmt.getInt(1);
    catch (Exception ex)
    throw new oracle.jbo.JboException(ex);
    finally
    try
    stmt.close();
    catch (Exception nex)
    return total;
    sample render code for calling custom method from JSP custom bean:
    public void render() {
    int totalhits;
    try
    Row[] rows;
    // Retrieve all records by default, the qView variable is defined in the base class
    qView.setRangeSize(-1);
    qView.first();
    rows = qView.getAllRowsInRange();
    // instantiate a view object for our exported method
    // and call the stored procedure to get the total
    ViewObject vo = qView.getViewObject();
    wtQueryView theView = (wtQueryView) vo;
    totalhits = theView.getTotalHits(session.getValue("m").toString(),session.getValue("y").toString());
    out.println(totalhits);
    } catch(Exception ex)
    throw new RuntimeException(ex.getMessage());

  • Calling stored procedure from Java raises ORA-1722 exception

    Hi,
    As the title says, when I call the stored procedure from java I got the exception ORA-1722 (invalid number) but I've checked and rechecked my procedure on SQL-Developer and It's alright it works nice and clean !
    What's happening? is there something I'm missing?
    The way I call the stored procedure is:
        public void execProcedure(String procedure) {
            CallableStatement cs;
            try {
                cs = conn.prepareCall(procedure);
                cs.execute();
            } catch (SQLException ex) {
                Logger.getLogger(Database.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
         where
        String procedure = "{call validateinfo}"I really need help on this, it's frustraiting me 'cause I need to finish a system but this little big problem is killing me ...
    Thanks any advice is very welcome :)

    Thanks for your help. Haven't tested the SP with a DB access client... which one do you recommend to use?
    The SP is the following:
    create or replace
    PROCEDURE validateInfo IS
      var number;
    BEGIN
      UPDATE temp_desarrollo
      SET status = '1';
      COMMIT;
      // Some string validations ...
      //This one just checks if the value of "monto" is a number
      //This update goes good
      UPDATE temp_desarrollo tmp
      SET cve_status = Decode(cve_status, NULL, '15', cve_status||',15')
      WHERE IsNumber(tmp.monto) = 'F';
      COMMIT;*/
      //This one just checks if the value of "monto" is greater than 0
      //if not, change de add to cve_status an errorValue
      UPDATE temp_desarrollo tmp
      SET cve_status = Decode(cve_status, NULL, '14', cve_status||',14')
      WHERE (cve_status NOT LIKE '%15%' OR cve_status IS NULL)
      AND to_number(tmp.monto) <= 0;
      COMMIT;
      //More string validations
      EXCEPTION
        WHEN OTHERS THEN
          var := SQLCODE;
          insert into excepciones values(to_char(var));
    END;I've deleted much code from the SP since I know there's nothing to do with the excepcion, just that UPDATE statement is the one giving me the exception.
    If those two UPDATES statements work with the same field (monto) why the first one is succeding and the second one not?
    Cheers,
    Federico
    P.S. the "isNumber" function is as follows, just in case.
    create or replace
    function IsNumber(val1 varchar2) return varchar2 is
      n number := null;
    begin
      n := to_number(val1,'9999999999999999.99');
        return 'T';
      exception
        when others then
          return 'F';
    end;

  • Calling Stored procedure from Forms 6i

    Dear all,
    I have a stored procedure having INand INOUT parameters. I need to call it from Forms 6i triggers. Will you please tell me the syntax for calling stored procedure and stored function from Forms 6i and report 6i.

    Just the same as for a local procedure, the only restrictions concern package public variables which are not visible from client side PL/SQL, and you probly want to keep the interfaces simple as client side PL/SQL (e.g. the Forms and Reports engines) don't support the same range of datatypes that the database does.
