Runniing Application with GUI interface

Before when i have run a application it has been through the DOS terminal , thus without a GUI. My experince with GUI has been with Applets and running them through a browser or the appletviewer.
The question is how do I run an application program with a GUI interface for testing purposes etc.
Any help would be great cheers.

You can run your application from the command line just like from you DOS terminal programs. All you need is the main method defined for you application in some class file. For example:
public static void main( String[] args ) {
JFrame frame = new JFrame();
frame.getContentPane().add( new JLabel("Hello world" );
frame.pack();
frame.setVisible( true );
Then run this code by:
java my.test.HelloWorld

  • Settings Application with GUI?

    I'm an avid user of the i3 window manager. However, although I'm comfortable-ish with the command line, I'd much rather use a GUI for most things if I can. One thing I want is a GUI for is system-wide settings, like mouse speed, display settings, keyboard layout, user accounts management, etc etc. When I used GNOME for a little bit a while ago, I noticed it had a GUI settings app. Are there any standalone ones that I can use without using GNOME, KDE, or whatever other desktop environment? Thank you in advance! And also, I don't to use i3-gnome package in the AUR or set i3 to be the window manager for another desktop environment. I want to be able to just use i3 normally, and then launch this settings application just like I would launch any other application

    Short answer: No.The closes thing I've seen to something like this is OpenSUSE's YAST, but that only works because OpenSUSE consists of components chosen by the developers; the same thing just isn't possible on a distribution like Arch.
    Long answer: GNOME has a graphical settings application because it's used to configure GNOME components that are integrated in a fairly tight way. Without a desktop environment, things like networking, pointer device setup, desktop wallpapers and toolkit themes are all handled by separate programs that need to be configured individually. The only way around that is to build some sort of unified interface---i.e., a desktop environment.

  • SSH client with GUI?

    Hello. I am using SSH for my webpage, and its a bit hard to use commands to upload stuff all the time.
    Is there any application with GUI?

    Bebo wrote:Another method would be to use sshfs (available in the Extra repos) and "mount" the web page account. That way you can access your web page files just as you access files locally. Since you seem to know how to use ssh from command line, a sshfs mount shouldn't be too difficult to do
    It is the same with nautilus The webpage is now "mounted" and i may access it easy

  • How to create an application with a 'Windows' like interface?

    Hi,
    I am trying to create an application with an windows like interface where menu selections need to open bound taskflows in a page/window but i can not get it to work. I did the following
    - i created a page template with a panelStretchLayout
    - added a menuBar with commandMenuItems
    - created a start page based on the template
    - created bound taskflows with page fragments for all menu items
    - placed a dynamic region on the start page which initially shows a taskflow with an empty/blank page fragment
    - change the dynamic region taskflow from every menuitem and added partial triggers on the dynamic region for every menu item
    When i run the application the first empty page fragment is showed correctly but when i select a menu item the correct new page fragment is showed but it keeps showing a loading data .... hint and seems to freeze. So no data is showed while the underlying datacontrols work while using the bc tester.
    Besides this problem i am wondering if i at all am going the right way with this with using a dynamic region? In the final application i will have a total of about 25 menu items over several menus and if they all will be showing in one main dynamic region with partial triggers set to all menu items it may get a bit complex? I saw you can also create a window in a popup which i like even more because it looks like an actual window but this is modal. I would like a bound taskflow to be opened whenever a menu selection is made.
    Any pointers or tips or the solution to not showing data?
    Kind Regards,
    Andre

    Hi Sascha,
    If have not encountered that problem. Are you sure you have a taskflow entry under the executables tag in the page definition of the page which has the dynamic region on it? I have one like this:
    <taskFlow id="dynamicRegion1" taskFlowId="${DynamicRegionBean.dynamicTaskFlowId}" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/controller/binding"/>
    During the selection of its initial value when it is rendering for the first time it should have the session bean already initialized. My bean looks like this:
    public class DynamicRegion {
    private String taskFlowId = "/WEB-INF/startTF.xml#startTF";
    public DynamicRegion() {
    public TaskFlowId getDynamicTaskFlowId() {
    return TaskFlowId.parse(taskFlowId);
    public String feitenTF() {
    taskFlowId = "/WEB-INF/feitenTF.xml#feitenTF";
    return taskFlowId;
    public String themasTF() {
    taskFlowId = "/WEB-INF/themasTF.xml#themasTF";
    return taskFlowId;
    public String feitCategorienTF() {
    taskFlowId = "/WEB-INF/feitCategorienTF.xml#feitCategorienTF";
    return taskFlowId;
    The startTF is the initial taskflow and the other methods are being called from my menu. The dynamic region has the menu items as partial triggers. That is all i did.
    Kind Regards,

  • How SAP integrate with XML interface & Easyship applications for labelling

    Dear All,
    My client has a requirement to use DHL for its shipments and shipment labelling is required.
    However, as per DHL's response that DHL Express label is a complex presentation that does not lend itself the standard labeling options under SAP, but both options of the XML interface and the Easyship applications do provide this label built by the application and delivered to SAP print stream.
    Please help to advise if there is any possible solutions for this implementation without using middleware?
    Appreciate it.
    Thank you.

    i AM NOT SURE IF i AM GETTING THIS RIGHT BUT, YOU WILL HAVE TO USE A BUSINESS COMMUNICATOR (EAI) BETWEEN dhl AND saP.In our current client we have developed an application where on PGI of the delivery will trigger a dlvry03 IDOc which passes through the logic of EAI and is then passed onto the carrier labelling system/interface.Once again once we receive back the info from the carrier an inbound IDOc is created to update the delivery with the tracking number and a Fedex label prints directly on the required printer.
    Same way you can use shpmnt IDOC and have you tried XSI interface, it was particularly developed to deal with carrier interface.Please let me know I can provid emore info regarding XSI.

  • How can I convert my Web Dynpro Application to Web Dynpro with GP Interface

    Hi experts
    I am trying to make my Web Dynrpo Application implement GP interface.
    I encountered a question .
    when I added GP interface controller, "Window" component also added automatically.
    But I have already had  a "Window" componet which contains alot of View settings.
    Do I have to Use newly added GP "Window" component?
    if  so, do I have to recreate "Window" Componet whenever I convert to my web dynpro application implementing GP interface ?
    Thanks in advance

    Yes you have to use the automatically added window.
    Check <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/50d74ada-0c01-0010-07a8-8c118d408e59">this</a> tutorial on how to implement a GP WD.

  • Java application with classes to Applet?

    Hello,
    First, I'm a Java junior, but I can make efforts to analyse and understand code.
    I saw an interesting open-source multiplayer poker java application: [JiBi's Hold'Em|http://sourceforge.net/projects/jibisholdem/]
    I would like to try to add it as an Applet on my server, but I have some questions.
    1- Do you think it is possible to make it fully works as an Applet (eg: through a proxy), as it seems to use a specific protocol and many classes?
    2- I tried the idea of GumB: http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=390846&start=13&tstart=0
    with getContentPane().add( new javaApp().getContentPane()but I have the following error message:
    I also tried with imports (import holdem.core.Card;etc) and with HoldEmClientGUI().getContentPane() or holdem.gui.HoldEmClientGUI().getContentPane()

    symbol  : class HoldEmClientGUI

            getContentPane().add( new HoldEmClientGUI().getContentPane() );
                                      ^

  • Need help..anyone GUI Interfaces

    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=472147&tstart=0&trange=15
    Can someone please help me with this program..I'm new to java and I don't understand GUI's. I read everything inside and out in my text book and still don't get how to convert my program into a gui interface...please help.

    Sorry i accidently posted twice...
    But here is my topic incase the link did not work. Thanks! Really desperate!
    Develop a Java application that will determine if a department store customer has exceeded the credit limit on a charge account. For each customer, the following facts are available:
    a) Account Balance
    b) Balance at the beginning of the month
    c) Total of all items charged by this customer this month
    d) Total of all credits applied to the customer&#8217;s account this month
    e) Allowed credit limit
    This program should input each of these facts from input dialogs as integers, calculate the new balance, display the new balance and determine if the new balance exceeds the customer&#8217;s credit limit. For those customers whose credit limit is exceeded, the program should display the message, &#8220;Credit limit exceeded.&#8221;
    Here is the program I wrote : (for the above criteria)
    // Credit.java
    // Program monitors accounts
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
    public class Credit {
    public static void main( String args[] )
    String inputString;
    int account, newBalance,
    oldBalance, credits, creditLimit, charges;
    inputString =
    JOptionPane.showInputDialog( "Enter Account (-1 to quit):" );
    while ( ( account = Integer.parseInt( inputString ) ) != -1 ) {
    inputString =
    JOptionPane.showInputDialog( "Enter Balance: " );
    oldBalance = Integer.parseInt( inputString );
    inputString =
    JOptionPane.showInputDialog( "Enter Charges: " );
    charges = Integer.parseInt( inputString );
    inputString =
    JOptionPane.showInputDialog( "Enter Credits: " );
    credits = Integer.parseInt( inputString );
    inputString =
    JOptionPane.showInputDialog( "Enter Credit Limit: " );
    creditLimit = Integer.parseInt( inputString );
    newBalance = oldBalance + charges - credits;
    String resultsString, creditStatusString;
    resultsString = "New balance is " + newBalance;
    if ( newBalance > creditLimit )
    creditStatusString = "CREDIT LIMIT EXCEEDED";
    else
    creditStatusString = "Credit Report";
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(
    null, resultsString,
    creditStatusString,
    JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE );
    inputString =
    JOptionPane.showInputDialog( "Enter Account (-1 to quit):" );
    System.exit( 0 );
    AND I NEED TO MODIFY IT TO DO THE FOLLWOING: (I'M A NEWB AND IT'S TAKEN ME FOREVER JUST TO DO THE ABOVE..PLEASE ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!!
    Expand the above program.
    1) Design an appropriate GUI for input. You cannot use dialog boxes. Design functional window(s) from scratch. State your conditions in the boxed comment at the top of the class. Input will need a transaction date also for the CustomerHistory class.
    2) Add a customer # ( a unique identifier)
    3) Besides your GUI, you will want 2 other classes: Customer and CustomerHistory. CustomerHistory will serve as a mock database.
    4) CustomerHistory will hold the previous balance & allowed credit limit plus any credit violation history. Your CustomerHistory violations must be an array, so that it could be readily expandable.
    5) Some step-up is necessary &#8211; chose your own approach and document.
    6) Then run your system enough times to show the response when a customer exceeds THREE &#8216;over credit&#8217; limits. CustomerHistory violations should be printed out, as well as, our choice of a &#8216;dunning notice&#8217;. It cannot be the same as a simple one time exceeds limit. Also show a normal customer run. Prove to me your solution works!
    7) Draw the UML diagram of your interconnecting classes.

  • SAP  Automation GUI  Interface Files

    Hi,
    I am trying to locate the files I need for the SAP Automation GUI Interfaces (BC-FES-AIT).
    The files are guilib.dll, guilib.lib, guilib.h.
    Does anyone know where I can get these files?
    Thanks, Chris

    Hello people,
    Could you somebody help me in this question ?
    The SAP Automation is supported in the ERP 6.0 ?
    One user in our company is asking to implement an application that use SAP Automation (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/de/8c/20e2ab493311d1894a0000e829fbbd/frameset.htm) in order to call RFC in our R/3 4.6c. In the end of this year we are going to migrate to ERP 6.0 and I'm not sure that this kind of technology is supported in this version.
    The application is an 3rd party software from T-Systems developed in Powerbuilder and comunicate with R/3 using RFC.
    Thanks in advance

  • Report Generation Toolkit producing error -2147417842, "The application called an interface that was marshalled for a different thread."

    Hi everybody,
    I've got an application that logs data to an Excel spreadsheet using the Report Generation Toolkit.  My VI's have worked fine in the past using Excel XP, but since I've upgraded to Excel 2007, I am getting COM errors like this one:
    "Error -2147417842 occurred at The application called an interface that was marshalled for a different thread. in Excel_Insert_Text.vi"  That is the exact wording, even with the weird punctuation and capitalization.
    The first occurrence of the error is not determinate.  Sometimes, up to 10 logging sessions, involving a new .xls file, can occur before this error pops up.  Once this error occurs, I must quit LabVIEW to resolve it.  If I try to do anything with Excel, I always get this error, although sometimes it comes out of different source VIs.  Excel_Open.vi is another.
    These logging VIs have worked just fine until upgrading to Excel 2007.  I checked, and I was using a really old version of the Report Generation Toolkit, v1.0.1.  I read the documentation and had a big sigh of relief when I realized I needed to upgraded to v1.1.2 to get Excel 2007 support.  However, even after upgrading, I'm still getting the same errors.  I'm using LabVIEW 8.0.1, and I'm also building these VIs into an application.   The error occurs both in the LabVIEW IDE and in the built application.  Does anybody out there have any idea what I can do to fix this?  I googled a little, and discovered this is a COM error, but I can't find any references to the Report Generation Toolkit specifically.
    Thanks,
    Phil
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Christian,
    I do not see that exact option listed, do you mean "user interface"?  I recognize the "Run in UI Thread" option, it's on the Call Library Function Node.
    I checked, and my top-level VI has "same as caller" set, and I believe all my VIs are set to "same as caller".  Are you suggesting I change my top-level VI preferred execution environment to "user interface", or just the logging sub-VIs that use the Report Generation Toolkit?
    Thanks,
    Phil

  • Examples of 'calling a web dynpro application with parameters'

    Hi!!
    I'm I have been watching manual 'Web dynpro for abap: advanced concepts' in the sections 'url parameters' and 'calling a web dynpro application with parameters'.
    Is there some example where these terms are seen.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ana,
    a window inbound plug can have parameters.
    These parameters are automatically fished out of the URL by the framework.
    So your inbound plug handler method has easy access to the parameters.
    URL
    http://<host>:port/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/<your application>?param1=xyz&param2=abc
    The application is configured to call an inbound interface(window) and plug.
    The plug can be declared with parameters.
    Double click on window inbound plug and add your parameters.
    The parameters are made available by framework if present in Launch URL.
    You can also call an application that has parameters  directly entered on the parameters tab.
    ie Parameters can be part of the application launch.
    regards
    Phil

  • Troubleshoot CRS with 100GE interface

    Hi guys,
    We have some trouble with 100GE interfaces. Log says it's a far end failure, but anyway I would like to discard this side.
    Looking at the output of "show controllers hundredGigE 0/13/0/0 all" I really can't tell everything's Ok.
    I would like to understand a few things about this output:
    100GBASE-LR4 has 4 lanes, but there are 20 lanes listed in section
      "Mapping of Service Interface Lane and RX PCS Lane:"
    What does PCS mean?
    What might be the root cause of current PCS Lane BIP Error Counters?
    Is there anything I would need to check on plim, pse, etc?
    Also, any reading material will be appreciated.
    Here you have the command output:
    show controllers hundredGigE 0/13/0/0 all

    I found an important issue:
    Lane 0 rx power is lower than minimum expected.

    I guess that's the main problem, but anyway, I would like to know more about this type of transceiver and how to troubleshoot it.
    Thanks, Diego.

  • Problem signing code for application with embedded runtime

    Hi,
    I have an Adobe Air application which I am publishing with the runtime embedded.  There are lots of reasons for publishing this way.
    I have already seen an unknown publisher message after signing on Windows 8 and a tester reported the same thing on Windows 7.  According to the cert issuer (DigiCert) I need to have an Extended Validation (EV) certificate to get by the Windows 8 issue, but there was no explanation on the Windows 7 issue.
    As the windows file is essentially a folder wiith ".app" appended to it's name, I'm not sure how signing (which I am doing with the Signature tab on the Flash GUI) ensures that the executable contained in that file is signed.
    Can anyone tell me anything about code signing when publishing an AIR application with embedded runtime?
    Best,
    Chris McLaughlin

    Not that I can think of.  What OS are they running?  Do they have the shared runtime also installed?

  • Integrating WebDynpro ABAP applications with UWL for workflow in Portal

    Dear
    We want to integrate an abap webdynpro application as task in the workflow with UWL.
    More information was found in /people/ginger.gatling/blog/2005/12/14/create-new-uis-for-existing-workflow-tasks-with-abap-web-dynpro-and-universal-worklist
    But no answer on the following issue:
    We use the transaction SWFVISU to prepare standard setting for our  task. This defines how a task is executed, once you select the task subject line on the worklist.
    Task                           TS91700001
    Visualization Type             ABAP Web Dynpro
    APPLICATION     z_wd_pas
    DYNPARAM     IV_WIID=${item.externalId}&period=${item.PERIOD}
    NAMESPACE     SAP
    SYSTEM_ALIAS     SAP_BSP_EREC
    But we want to start the abap webdynpro application with a dynamic parameter: period 07.2010 or 08.2010 or MM.YYYY. This parameter is a container element of the task, filled when the task is created. Also other parameters are available in the abap webdynpro application.
    Component       Z_WD_PAS
    Interface View  PAS
    Plug Name       DEFAULT
    Help Menu Text
    Help Link
                                                                                    Package         Z_PAS
    Language        EN
    URL             http://saperpd1.imec.be:8000/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/z_wd_pas
    with parameters
    IV_WIID     000000000000     SWW_WIID
    ORG_UNIT     00000000     ORGEH
    PERIOD                              SPMON
    PERNR     00000000     PERSNO
    Can we set the dynamic parameter list DYNPARAM from the task
    or should  we read the container in our abap webdynpro application described in http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/WDABAP/IntegratingWebDynproABAPapplicationswithUWLforworkflowin+Portal?
    More information: The task is a webservice
    Standard task        91700001   Z_PAS_CC

    Object Type          WEBSERVICE   WebFlow Service

    l_wiid = l_wi_objkey.
                                                                                    CALL FUNCTION 'SWF_WSC_START_LH_DIALOG'
      EXPORTING
        i_wiid                 = l_wiid
      EXCEPTIONS
        url_creation_failed    = 1
        browser_launch_failure = 2
        OTHERS                 = 3.

      CASE sy-subrc.
        WHEN 1.
          exit_return '1000' space space space space.
        WHEN 2.
          exit_return '1001' space space space space.
        WHEN OTHERS.
          exit_return '1002' space space space space.
      ENDCASE.
    ENDIF.
    end_method.
    Before calling the function SWF_WSC_START_LH_DIALOG the parameters for the abap webdynpro should be defined. Is this possible ?
    Thanks for your suggestions.
