Running a function every second

I have a function and I need to be able to run it once every second. Really appreciate any help.

You can use a timer:new Timer (1000, new ActionListener () {
    public void actionPerformed (ActionEvent event) {
        yerMethod ();
}).start ();Kind regards,

  • Run function every hour

    Can anyone help? I need to be able to run a function every hour.
    One way is:
    javax.swing.Timer rateTimer=new javax.swing.Timer(3600000,new ActionListener(){
              public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt){
    // your code here
    it there any other way or is this the best?

    Should mention that if the timed service is the only thing the application is going to do (rather than many things) then you might want to look to your OS to see what scheduling services it already has. Then the OS could run your application once an hour.

  • Error in running a function to convert coordinates in degrees to decimal for EXCEL VBA

    For your information, I have 3 cross-posts regarding this question - and all I can said there is still no firm solution regarding this error.
    1) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27634586/error-in-running-a-function-to-convert-coordinates-in-degrees-to-decimal-for-exc/27637367#27637367
    2) http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel-questions/826099-error-running-function-convert-coordinates-degrees-decimal-excel-visual-basic-applications.html#post4030377
    3) http://www.excelguru.ca/forums/showthread.php?3909-Error-in-running-a-function-to-convert-coordinates-in-degrees-to-decimal-for-EXCEL-VB&p=16507#post16507
    and the story of the error is as below:
    Currently I am working on VBA excel to create a widget to verify coordinates whether it lies under the radius of ANOTHER predefined and pre-specified sets of coordinates.
    In the module, I want to convert the coordinates from degrees to decimal before doing the calculation - as the formula of the calculation only allow the decimal form of coordinates.
    However, each and every time I want to run the macros this error (Run-time error '5', invalid procedure call or argument) will appear. Then, the debug button will bring me to below line of coding:
    degrees = Val(Left(Degree_Deg, InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "°") - 1))
    For your information, the full function is as below:
    Function Convert_Decimal(Degree_Deg As String) As Double
    'source: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/213449
    Dim degrees As Double
    Dim minutes As Double
    Dim seconds As Double
    Degree_Deg = Replace(Degree_Deg, "~", "°")
    degrees = Val(Left(Degree_Deg, InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "°") - 1))
    minutes = Val(Mid(Degree_Deg, InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "°") + 2, _
    InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "'") - InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "°") - 2)) / 60
    seconds = Val(Mid(Degree_Deg, InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "'") + _
    2, Len(Degree_Deg) - InStr(1, Degree_Deg, "'") - 2)) / 3600
    Convert_Decimal = degrees + minutes + seconds
    End Function
    Thank you.
    Your kind assistance and attention in this matter are highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Nina.

    You didn't give an example of your input string but try the following
    Sub test()
    Dim s As String
    s = "180° 30' 30.5""""" ' double quote for seconds
    Debug.Print Deg2Dec(s) ' 180.508472222222
    End Sub
    Function Deg2Dec(sAngle As String) As Double
    Dim mid1 As Long
    Dim mid2 As Long
    Dim degrees As Long
    Dim minutes As Long
    Dim seconds As Double ' or Long if only integer seconds
    sAngle = Replace(sAngle, " ", "")
    mid1 = InStr(sAngle, "°")
    mid2 = InStr(sAngle, "'")
    degrees = CLng(Left$(sAngle, mid1 - 1))
    minutes = CLng(Mid$(sAngle, mid1 + 1, mid2 - mid1 - 1))
    seconds = Val(Mid$(sAngle, mid2 + 1, 10)) ' change 10 to 2 if only integer seconds
    Deg2Dec = degrees + minutes / 60 + seconds / 3600
    End Function
    As written the function assumes values for each of deg/min/sec are included with unit indicators as given. Adapt for your needs.
    In passing, for any work with trig functions you will probably need to convert the degrees to radians.

    Hi guys,
    I know it's not right to ask others to create code for me, but I searched for a while and still blank. Can someone show me how to run myPackage.myProcedure every first day of the month (eg, Jan 1, Feb 1, March 1).
    I am thinking use this function, but I don't see how..
    DBMS_JOB.SUBMIT (

  • Ask Michael Webinar every second Wednesday

    Hello everyone
    You may know me as the answerer of questions in this forum and as the author of the Discoverer 10g Handbook. I wanted to let you know that I also conduct a free Ask Michael webinar on Discoverer every second Wednesday of the month at 3pm Central. There is no fee for this and I am not selling anything nor am I touting for business. This is just a way for me to provide another free way to help the Discoverer community by passing on my knowledge.
    If you would like to know more click here: http://ascbi.com/question.htm
    By the way, I am also presenting a paper on maximizing investment in Discoverer at the IOUG / OAUG Collaborate conference in Orlando in May, and again at the ODTUG conference in Monterey in June. If you happen to be attending come along and say hello.
    You may also be interested in reading Oracle's statement of direction for Discoverer which you will find here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/discoverer/pdf/discoverer_sod_jan2009.pdf

    The goal with singletons is to ensure that at least one thread has a reference to the object that you do not want finalized. In this case, the class is being garbage-collected and reloaded. In your main, you can do this:
    public static void main(String [] argv)
         Class cl = LogManager.class;
    }and assuming that main terminates when your app does, that will protect the class from being garbage collected. If your application is based in a thread, then do the same thing in your run() method. It isn't evident in your code how the log manager is exposed - if the functionality is used by calling static methods on the class (I.E., the instances are never shared) then the problem can be fixed as above. If you do share the instance, then it is a race condition as to when the problem will arise.

  • Run a program every saturday night 12

    i want to run my program every Saturday night 12 anybody knows how can i do this

    hi,
    There are two ways for you to handle,
    one manually setting up the job through SM36 which is better and convinient,
    secondly through program using FM's JOB_OPEN, SUBMIT, JOB_CLOSE.
      Find below steps in doing both:
    Procedure 1:
      1. Goto Trans -> SM36
      2. Define a job with the program and variant if any
      3. Click on start condition in application tool bar
      4. In the pop-up window, click on Date/Time
      5. Below you can see a check box "Periodic Job"
      6. Next click on Period Values
      7. Select "Other Period"
      8. Now give '15' for Minutes
      9. Save the job
    In SM37 u can check the status of the jobs that u have assigned to background...
    Here u mention the job name or the report name to check the status of the job...
    After mentioning the job name or program name u just execute it.. ( without any name also u can execute then it gives u all the jobs set by your user name..
    the status colud be released,active,finished etc..
    Procedure 2 via Program:
    Below is a sample code for the same. Note the ZTEMP2 is the program i am scheduling with 15mins frequency.
    DATA: P_JOBCNT LIKE TBTCJOB-JOBCOUNT,
          L_RELEASE(1) TYPE c.
       CALL FUNCTION 'JOB_OPEN'

       SUBMIT ZTEMP2 VIA JOB 'ZTEMP2' NUMBER P_JOBCNT

              WITH DESTINATION = 'HPMISPRT'
              WITH IMMEDIATELY = SPACE

          JOBNAME_MISSING                   = 3
          JOB_CLOSE_FAILED                  = 4
          JOB_NOSTEPS                       = 5
          JOB_NOTEX                         = 6
          LOCK_FAILED                       = 7
          INVALID_TARGET                    = 8
          OTHERS                            = 9.

            WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
       ENDIF.
    Hope the above helps you.

  • I have an app that crashes when I run one function, but no one else I know with the same app experiences the crash.  I checked my Diagnostics

    I have an app called Astrogold that crashes when I run one function, but no one else I know with the same app experiences the crash.  The app writes several different reports, and gives the option of sending them as PDF files.  All the other reports generate fine, but one of them....and that one crashes the app while it is trying to generate the report.
    Note:  it only crashes the display.  If I double click the home button I see the app itself is still running.
    I checked my Diagnostics & Usage data, and noticed that every time the app crashes a LowMemory report is created.  I looked at the LowMemory report and see that the Largest process is Astrogold.  But I don't see any reports with the name of the app itself.
    I have an iPhone 5c, and according to iTunes I have 2.25 GB Free.
    Below is the actual LowMemory report.  Can anyone make any suggestions?

    Thank you for your reply.
    >You can double-click the home button and then swipe upwards on the thumbnail of the app to force it closed.
    Did that
    >After that, power the phone off and back on again, test.
    Did that
    >If still a problem, force close the app again and then reset the phone, holding the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot, test.
    Did that
    >If still a problem, then connect the device to iTunes and restore from backup.
    Did that
    >If that does not work, it is possible there is something corrupt in the backup. The final step is restore as new, not from a backup.
    This is the only thing I had not done before I posted my initial request for help.  I will work on that....it's a last resort I was hoping not to do, but it sounds like I've already done everything else.
    Thank you.

  • When I plug in ipod, it connects/disconnects every second, forever..Win-7

    My ipod worked fine when I was running XP, but when I changed to Windows 7 (32bit), it started doing this thing where it would disconnect and connect every second, for as long as it's little heart desired.
    i tried:
    -letting it die
    -restarting it
    -all possible solutions provided by itunes help
    -putting it into disk mode
    -reformatting it (it worked on dad's comp: win xp)
    other facts:
    -it still charges
    -still plays music when not connected to computer

    Having the same problem with Vista Ultimate 64 bit. Started about a month ago. Gen 1 iPod video that I have updates and connects fine, just not my 4Gen Nano. Sent it in for repair, they sent me back a different one, having the same problem.

  • Updating JTable every second, want to ignore these events in my listener

    I have a JTable that I update every second using
    table.getModel().setValueAt(data, row, col);I'm also reacting to when the user clicks on a row in a the table, using a ListSelectionListener:
    public class MyTableListener implements ListSelectionListener {
              public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent e) {
                   if (e.getValueIsAdjusting()) return;
                   //do stuff
    }And of course I've done this:
    table.getSelectionModel.addListSelectionListener(new MyTableListener());Problem is, every time I update the table data it generates an event handled by valueChanged() above. I need to prevent this.
    Do I need a customized table model for this?
    Thanks!

    Found the problem: I forgot I was using JXTable, not JTable. Here's my example:
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.event.*;
    import javax.swing.table.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import org.jdesktop.swingx.*;
    public class Test {
         JXTable table = null;//change this to JTable to fix
         public class MyTableListener implements ListSelectionListener {
              public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent e) {
                   System.out.println("event="+e.toString());
         public Test()
              JFrame frame  = new JFrame();
              String columns[] = {"one", "two"};
              Object data[][] = {{0, 0}, {0, 0}, {0, 0}};
              table = new JXTable(data, columns);//change this to JTable to fix
              table.getSelectionModel().addListSelectionListener(new MyTableListener());
              frame.add(new JScrollPane(table, JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED, JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED),
                          BorderLayout.CENTER);
              startThread();
              frame.setVisible(true);
         public static void main (String args[]) {
              Test test = new Test();
         public void startThread()
              class RefreshThread extends Thread {
                   public void run() { try {
                             while(true) { SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {public void run() {
                                       updateTable();
                                  sleep(1*1000);
                        } catch (Exception e) {e.printStackTrace();}
              RefreshThread rt = new RefreshThread();
              rt.start();
         public void updateTable()
              TableModel model = table.getModel();
              try {
                   for(int row = 0; row < model.getRowCount(); row++)
                        model.setValueAt(System.currentTimeMillis(), row, 0);
                        model.setValueAt(System.currentTimeMillis(), row, 1);
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
    }When I change it to a JTable, valueChanged() is not called every time I programmatically update the table.
    If it's a JXTable, valueChanged() is called with every update. Annoying!
    To compile/run the JXTable version you'll need something like
    java -cp swingx-1.0.jar:. TestAs for the events themselves, I added print statements with e.toString() and the events are not distinguishable from user interaction. I wonder if this is a JXTable bug or feature.
    Thanks!

  • Suspends only every second time when lid closed

    Hello everybody, my problem is as the  subject: to suspend I have to close usually the laptop lid twice.
    I'm using kde, but I have also used years ago fluxbox, tweaking scripts and using laptop-mode (which is not running now). Thanks in advance for every idea where to look.

    I actually do not understand who comands at the end - this handler.sh or the settings in Kde-powermanaging, I guess it's the second, I did remove the actions for suspend on lid close time ago. I made a test now, when I change handler.sh and check "do nothing when lid close" in kde powersettings happens exact the same: performs suspend every second time only.

  • Write to measurement file VI - every second, is that too fast ?

    I use the write to measurement file VI to save 5 values + a comment to a file. The VI is in a loop. The VI adds new values to the same file every time it is called. In one of the tutorials it is said "VIs can be more efficient if you avoid opening and closing the same files frequently". I understand that; the write to measurement file VI does open and close the same file every time it is called.
    I want the VI called every second to save new data. Tests I did with this rate did show problems. However, what is meant by frequently? Every second? Every millisecond? So my question is: is saving every 1 second, like I want, likely to cause problems, or isn't that time period hardly a problem? Or is there a better solution (although this VI gives me all possibilities I want, including saving a comment and saving to multiple files with nice filenames; I would really like to use this VI).

    The answer lies halfway between mine and Nukem's answers.  Instead of storing all values in a shift register until the end, you simply store them, for say 1 hour, and append to the file.  This also enables you to save some of your data in the event of a power failure or something.
    Use a nested for loop, the inner loop will run for say, 50 or 100 iterations, storing values in a shift register array.  Upon exiting this loop, the data is appended to your file.  The outer for loop will run for how many iterations out need.
    For some simple examples, lets say you need 10,000 loops and you want to save every 100 iterations.  Have the inner loop run 100 times and the outer loop run 100 times.

  • Charge led blinks every second when Laptop NX9420 is turned off.

    I have a new battery, in a HP Compaq NX9420 and it can run the laptop for 2 hours isch,
    it can also run it on power adaptor only, battery removed, so both battery and charger is ok.
    But,
    When turning off the laptop from within windows it goes off and all is normal, after some 3-12 hours the charge led starts to blink amber/orange every second, if I press on/off button nothing happens, I have to remove the battery and slap it in again then it starts,
    (after pressing on/off ofc.) the battery is slightly drained what I can see?
    checked everything in bios but nothing
    tested also HP Battery check and it says all ok.
    Motherboard busted?
    RTC battery weak? I still keeps track of time and settings bioswise.

    Hi,
    I don't know people call this but we normally call it as an "handsake", all smart batteries should do this way.
    Regards.

  • ToolBoxTools.addEventListener only works every second time

    Hi!
    Our layouts pretty often click on the "page tool" by mistake and it happened a few times, that they changes the size of the page without even noticing. Because there is no way to remove the tool from the toolbar (I guess?), I wanted to write a script, that at least shows a message, that the page tool ("Seitenwerkzeug" in german) was selected. Unfortunately the event listener only works every second time:
    1. indesign starts > selection tool is active
    2. click on page tool > message appears > page tool is active
    3. click on "another tool1" > "another tool1" is active
    4. click on "another tool2" > "another tool1" is active
    5. click on page tool > nothing happens, the icon of the page tool is active, but the icon of the "another tool2" is still active, too, and "another tool2" is still activated
    6. click on "another tool3" > "another tool3" is active
    7. click on page tool > message appears > page tool is active
    8. ......
    Any idea why that is?
    My script:
    #targetengine myToolListener
    app.toolBoxTools.addEventListener ("afterAttributeChanged", changeToolAlert);
    function changeToolAlert() {
        if(app.toolBoxTools.currentToolName == "Seitenwerkzeug") {
            alert ("Message", "Title");
        exit(); //i tried with and without this!
    At the beginning I tried to use an confirm message instead of an alert, which had the same problem and I thought it might be because the changing doesn't work... but it seems I can't even work with the information without something "crashing" in the background?
    My previous confirm Function:
    function changeToolConfirm() {
        if(app.toolBoxTools.currentToolName == "Seitenwerkzeug") {
            var confirmDialog = confirm("Do you really want to activate the page tool?", true);
            if(!confirmDialog) {
                app.toolBoxTools.currentTool = UITools.SELECTION_TOOL;
    I really hope someone has an idea
    Best,
    Anke

    Hi Anke,
    The problem, I think, comes from the fact that the Page Tool selection event (which you listen to via afterAttributeChanged) needs some time to complete. Since the alert() or confirm() instruction gives the focus to a new modal window before the event life-cycle is finished, the GUI becomes instable, the PageTool icon state is not properly restored, and your event management goes wrong.
    A way to solve this might be to queue a temporary IdleEvent listener once the Page Tool selection event is caught. That is, we do not initiate any modal dialog as long as the GUI is refreshing.
    Something like this:
    //====================================================
    // PageToolDisclaimer.jsx
    //====================================================
    // Should be useable as a startup script, no #targetengine required
    // NB - MutationEvent is known to create a global 'evt' variable
    // so we don't seem to need a persistent session engine here :-)
    // That's why the active script File is used as the event handler
    (function(/*File*/EVENT_HANDLER, /*str*/TASK_NAME, /*uint*/TASK_TIME, /*str*/PAGE_TOOL_NAME)
        var t;
        // Installer
        if( !(t=app.toolBoxTools.eventListeners).length )
            t.add(MutationEvent.AFTER_ATTRIBUTE_CHANGED, EVENT_HANDLER);
            return;
        // IdleEvent handler (--> confirm)
        if( (t=app.idleTasks.itemByName(TASK_NAME)).isValid )
            t.eventListeners.everyItem().remove();
            t.remove();
            if( !confirm("***WARNING***\rDo you really want to activate the page tool?", true) )
                app.toolBoxTools.currentTool = UITools.SELECTION_TOOL;
            return;
        // PageTool event handler
        if( ('evt' in $.global) && 'currentToolName'==evt.attributeName && PAGE_TOOL_NAME==evt.attributeValue )
            evt.stopPropagation();
            app.idleTasks.add({name:TASK_NAME, sleep:TASK_TIME})
                  .addEventListener(IdleEvent.ON_IDLE, EVENT_HANDLER);
    })(app.activeScript, 'WaitPageTool', 400, app.translateKeyString('$ID/Page Tool'));
    Hope that helps.

  • Barcode on every second physical page

    I'm trying to create a form letter report in 6i. The letter runs into several pages, but I need to print only the barcode on every second page. So when we do duplex printing, the barcode goes on the back of each page. All the components including the barcode are in one single repeating frame(master) and there is another repeating frame(detail)within. The data might sometimes overflow to subsequent pages depending on the detail. Also within the barcode I need to give the running number of logical pages.
    Is there a simple way that Oracle handles this type of situations.
    Any suggestions.

    Instead of suppressing every second page I could just suppress every blank page. That would be fine as well.

  • How to run ABAP Function Module in Background FOR LONG TIME?

    I am not that experienced with ABAP. I am on SAP BI 7.0. I WANT TO RUN A FUNCTION MODULE
    RSDRT_INFOCUBE_DATA_COPY.
    I used SE37 and then executed the module, I supplied  the parameters on the form which opped-up and then  program started running. . Program was however interrupted after 10 minutes by ABAP. How can I run  it in background without interruption?
    THANKS A LOT.

    Change parameter rdisp/max_wprun_time.
    Default value for this is 600 seconds (10minutes).Change it to a time which you think you need for copying infocube data.
    May be 5 hours.
    PS:You can not run Function Module in background directly,but you can create a Z* program and call that FM from within that program and then run the program in background.
    Hope this answers your query. Best of Luck!
    Thanks and Regards
