Running a LabWindows/CVI application created and built in Windows XP Serv.Pack 2 on a Windows 2000 computer

I have created an application using LabWindows/CVI on my computer. I would like to install this application on a Windows 2000 machine but  I receive a message saying something like  "This program requires Windows XP service pack 2".
What can I do to make this work.
I am using LabWindows/CVI version 2010.
Any Ideas?

OK, Thanks, I will try that.

  • Holding values as default in LabWindows/CVI application

    Hello -
I am writing a LabWindows/CVI application, which controls an USB Digital I/O Board.  I have set an user interface to a default value.  However, when a user runs the application, he/she may need to change the default value.  How can I hold the value the user entered for the next time the user runs the application?

You better post this in the LabWindows/CVI board instead of the LabVIEW board

  • How to use the checksumdll.lib in LabWindow/CVI to create CRCChecksum();

    Hi All,
Any one know how to use the checksumdll.lib in LabWindow/CVI to create CRCChecksum() ?
    Thank you.

Do you ave some documentation about that dll?
Have you looked into dll properties searching for vendor name? Maybe you can look int vendorìs site and obtain some help.
Ultimately: are you forced to use that dll or can you use any software to calculate the checksum? There are several CRCs that you can use: provided you know which is the type used you could find an algorithm to calculate the CRC and check an existing one.

  • Create and configure an OPC IO server programatically in LV 2010

Can I create and configure an OPC IP server programatically using LabVIEW 2010?  Currently I create a process (using code) then wire the process name to the LV express VI to create an IO server that I have manually set the attributes for.  Then I can create my shared variables and bind them to the OPC items.  I would like to eliminate the manual configuration of the attributes to give my VI greater flexibility.  Is this possible in LabVIEW 2010?
    Thanks in advance,
    AJL

    Hi mani.siet.eng,
You can write data to OPC tags using LabVIEW. There are multiple ways to do this such as binding shared variables (which you can create programmatically) to the tags or by using DataSockets. Information on how to use OPC in LabVIEW can be found in this KnowledgeBase article.
If you have any more specific questions, I would recommend creating a new thread since the last activity on this one was over three years ago.

  • Running Forms on oracle Application 10g(9.0.4) on terminal Server

oracle application Server Installation guide for windows states that
Oracle Application Server is not supported on Windows operating systems that
include Terminal Services (for example, Windows NT Terminal Server Edition and
Windows 2000 with Terminal Services are not supported).
My Remarks : It means Oracle Application server cannot be installed on the Windows server on which Windows Terminal Services are on.
Please consider the following deployment scenario
    Server 1
    OS : Windows 2000
Software Installed : Oracle Database 10g
    Server 2
    OS : Windows 2000
Software Installed : Oracle Application Server 10g(9.0.4) on which Forms and Reports are deployed
    Server 3
OS : Windows 2000 as Terminal Server
Software Installed : IE 6.0 , that will act as Client Machine.
    I have following Queries
    1. Oracle does not allow OAS installed on Terminal Server, will it allow Terminal Server( Server 3) to act as Client and to run web base forms and reports on it.
    2.
In case It allow to run forms and reports on Terminal Server ( Server 3) does it means thin client machines connected to Terminal Sever can access Forms and Reports.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ankur Diwan

The bottom line is that we don't certify running Forms using the features of a terminal server to serve up any part of those Forms. That doesn't mean it does not work, but its not certified or supported.

It seems that something might still be corrupted or not registered properly. Have you tried running the TestStand Version Selector to re-select your current version of TestStand as the active version?
Also, you mentioned that it crashed and now things aren't working. What exactly occurred when it crashed? Was this just TestStand freezing, or did the entire system freeze or crash? Did you see an error message of any kind?
If the version selector doesn't help things, I would suggest a reinstall of TestStand (and possibly CVI, but let's start with TestStand). To clarify, we want to do an uninstall/reinstall rather than a repair, because the repair will only replace missing files. If a file is corrupted, the uninstall/reinstall should replace it.
Let us know how it goes!

  • How to create and back up a media server?

I have a ton of photos and videos that I would like to share among several Mac's and PC's in my house over a wireless network. I would like to create a wireless shared media server which will run day and night without having to keep any computers on. At the same time, I would like to back up this media store on a regular basis. I would also like to sync some of the content to my Apple TV.
The solution I've come up with (at least theoretically) is to connect an external 500 GB drive to an Airport Extreme Base Station and use it as an Airport disk. I will dump all of my media files onto it. The problem is, how do I back this up?
Well, I have pre-purchased the 1 TB Time Capsule. What I'm hoping is possible, is for me to be able to have my MacBook Pro access my Airport disk, and back it up through Time Machine to my Time Capsule, wirelessly. Will this be possible?
I have found hundreds of messages about people trying to use Time Machine to back up data TO an Airport disk, but not FROM an Airport disk - so I want to know if this is possible?
Next, I need to sync my media Airport disk to my Apple TV. I assume I can just use my MacBook Pro to mount the Airport disk and use it as the source for syncing to my Apple TV?
Now, you may ask why I don't just get the Time Capsule and place all my media files onto it, in addition to using it for backup. Well, if the drive crashes, I will not only lose my backups, I will also lose all my original media files. Unless it is possible to back up the Time Capsule itself to an external drive for extra safety?
Sorry if this is confusing, but my basic questions are:
    1. Is it possible to back up an Airport disk using Time Machine?
    2. Is it possible to back up a Time Capsule to an external drive?
    3. Is it possible to sync a shared drive (Airport disk or Time Capsule) to an Apple TV?
    4. Can I run two wireless base stations (an Airport Extreme and Time Capsule) in my house?
    Thanks in advance.

It is possible to create a media server, backup its contents, etc. but probably not the ways you are considering. There's hurdles to setting up anything of the nature you're considering.
First my responses to your questions followed by how I did it.
    1. Is it possible to back up an Airport disk using Time Machine? No
    2. Is it possible to back up a Time Capsule to an external drive? If I understand this question, you are asking if there is a backup for the backup. I doubt it based on #1.
    3. Is it possible to sync a shared drive (Airport disk or Time Capsule) to an Apple TV? Only if the airdisk is mounted on the Mac to which you use to sync the Apple TV.
    4. Can I run two wireless base stations (an Airport Extreme and Time Capsule) in my house? Yes, but your bandwidth will be reduced if both are operating at the same time, particularly if one is configured as a bridge. With some special configuring of both devices you may be able to not use the wireless of one unit if it is connected via the ethernet ports. I have not tried this.
I have over 500 GB of video, 16 GB of audio, and about 4000 photos. I've solved this media center desire as follows:
    1. MacMini with 2 external hard drives, 1 contains the media and the other is the backup drive used by TM.
    2. Front Row is used on the MacMini and the Mini is attached to a large screen TV
    3. Other Macs in the house mount the media and backup drives from the Mini
    4. All of the Mac's iTunes are configured so they only store references to the files on the mounted media drive. Each time files are added to the media drive I simply drag the files from the media drive to the iTunes Library. This eliminates the 'sharing' of the iTunes library and allows each person to create their own Playlists. iPhoto is configured similarly to iTunes and new files are dragged to its Library.
    5. All the Macs are set to use TM on the backup drive attached to the Mini. The Mini's attached media drive is backed up via TM to the backup drive (again, both are attached to the mini).
I've tried the airport disk path previously and I found that it was necessary to occasionally remove the external disk and connect to a Mac to repair it in some fashion. I have not tried the new airdisk product itself -- just the original airport and an attached ext drive.
BTW, 2 of 4 of my Macs are laptops and none of them have any problem backing up to the Mini's backup drive via TM. I do, however, keep my video editing directories out of the laptop's TM backups; otherwise backups would take many hours as opposed to the typical 1-2 minutes.
Sorry I have not answered this in the way perhaps that you hoped but I have found my configuration to be very stable. The use of an airdisk as you described is the ultimate but I don't think all the tools are there to go all the way.
If you're interested in more detail, please ask.

  • Solutions for creating and printing barcode for MII application

    Hi all,
We need some help on solution about barcode creating and printing for MII applications. Would be greatly appreciated for any suggestions about the best option.
Our client is running MII 12.x. They also use Crystal Report. They don't have a lot of SAP resources and hence don't want to create Barcode using SAP smart forms. The new application requires reports to be printed out with barcode attached to it. The following are some options that we have identified:
    1. Using Bartender software. MII will provide a XML file and feed to the software. The software can print out the content with the label.
    2. Create a customized action block to create and store barcode on the server. Using a HTML page to display all the content with the jpeg/png version of the barcode. Print out through IE.
Any other options will be good too. Thanks in advanced for your responses.
    Best regards,
    UMeng

    Thanks for the suggestion.
One concern I have is this package is developed for v12.0. According to SAP, these action blocks will work in 12.1 but not in 12.2. I've tried to install it on 12.2. The configuration dialog are not working properly.
Have anybody succefully implemented this package on 12.2?
    Best regards,

    Turbo,
There isn't a document that covers all the features from 6.0 to 2009, though there are documents that talk about individual upgrades.

Also this document covers the upgrades since 8.0  http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/7995

  • Yokogawa UT driver for LabWindows/CVI 6.0 won't translate to LabVIEW 8.6?

The device driver for the Yokogawa UT series furnace controllers is in LabWindows/CVI 6.0 and I would like to use it in LabVIEW. I tried to use the utility to convert from LabWindows/CVI to LabVIEW, but it said it couldn't and that the device driver is from before LabWindows/CVI 5.01.
In any case, here is the series of events.
I downloaded the LabWindows/CVI to LabVIEW Converter, from
the page on LabVIEW's developer's connection that had the driver for the
    Yokogawa UT controller.
From an empty LabVIEW Block Diagram, I click
    Tools>>Instrumentation>>Create LabVIEW Interface to LabWindows/CVI
    Instrument Driver...
This takes a little while to load. During loading an
FC_Interface_Main.vi runs, apparently trying to find a file.
Once that is done, the two options are Basic and Advanced. I leave
basic selected. I click next. browse to find the ykut.fp file from the
    driver I downloaded.
I then click next. The error window that is seen in the screen shot is
    then shown.
I called a tech support guy at NI about this, and I e-mailed him with all the above, but there was no reply, though the conversion utility is no longer available on the same web page as this specific device driver.
In any case, if anybody could give a little guidance, it would be appreciated.

    Hello Screamingzebras,
I converted the .fp file to be version 5.5 and ran the utility that was mentioned.  I have attached two files to this post.  "ykut.zip" is the converted .fp file (version 5.5).  "yut.zip" is the converted instrument driver.
