Running a powershell script through task scheduler

Hi,
when I run a script using task scheduler, the prompt closes after the script ended. What is the argument to leave the prompt open?
Thanks,
Ashley

Hi Ashromeo,
Maybe you need to set excution plicy efore you running the script by the following command :
Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned

    My case is i'm trying to run a power shell script through the task schedule.
    Note if i run the script locally it is working fine but from the task schedule it is not working.

    Time to do the task: 9:08 am every day
    the status : running

    some actions in the task history after the dated time to run:

  • Running SFTP from script but Task Scheduler does not like part of it.

    Hello,
    I am trying to do some (not so) simple file copying using SFTP in this manner:
     1) Map a drive to the destination, the SFTP program will not accept UNC paths
     2) Use SFTP to copy the files to the target Server
     3) Write a Timestamped entry to a log file
     4) Remove the source files after copy
     5) Remove the drive mapping
    Everything works but Step two and that only fails running from the Task Scheduler (W2K8 R2).  Running from the command line directly in PowerShell or using the Run box works fine all the way.
    The sftp program is BitVise SSH Client using their log utility.  The makes the command line very complicated.
    The line I use in the Scheduler is powershell "D:\Scripts\SFTP_TPCCommission.ps1" Dev  I have also tried using the -command parameter.  Again, it only does not work in the scheduler.
    Here is how I invoke it:
    $CmdLine = "`"D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Bitvise SSH Client\\logs\\`" sftpc " + $Server + " -pk=1 -cmd=`"put -o -lf Z:\" + $File + " /TPCCommissions`""
    & log ($CmdLine)
    I have also tried a Here String to do the same thing.  It works the same way.
    $ArgText = @"
    "D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Bitvise SSH Client\\logs\\" sftpc $Server -pk=1 -cmd="put -o -lf Z:\$File /TPCCommissions"
    Any ideas?

    In a batch file or at the command (not PS) line the command structure looks like this:
    log "D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Bitvise SSH Client\\logs\\" sftpc <user@server> -pk=1 -cmd="put -o -lf Z:\<Source> /<Destination>"
    The double slashes are requirement of the log program which calls the sftpc program with its command structure.
    The double-quoted section after "-cmd=" is required.  The Z: drive is mapped because the SFTP program does not support UNC paths. (Stupid, but that is all I have to work with.
    What you see in my post is just the part giving me trouble.  I am using PS to keep track of what I am copying to the destination and removing from the source and creating a timestamped log of that activity.
    As to the comment about Task Scheduler, I am using it.  Like I said, it all works fine from anywhere but the Task Scheduler.

  • Executing powershell scripts via Task Scheduler

    Hi,
    I have a powershell script that I wrote that when executed from the shell works fine but when executed from task scheduler does not work.
    In my script, an email is sent out based on the results of the execution.  When I run this from the shell, email goes out, when scheduled, no email and there is no indication of errors having occurred anywhere in the system.
    Has anyone run into a similar issue?
    I did change my powershell execution policy to be unrestricted (both in the x86 and x64 consoles).  I am running Windows 2008 R2.
    Thanks - Greg.

  • Executing powershell script via task scheduler

    Hello,
    I am trying to execute powershell script via windows task scheduler which will forcefully delete all email in a mailbox, but I am getting the below errors
    Operational Code - 2

    When I am adding additional cmdlets in the script "Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted", I am getting Last Run Result 0X5 rest of the error remains the same.
    Powershell version - 3.0
    Task Scheduler version - 1.0
    If I try to run the script manually via Exchange Powershell the script executes without any errors
    Thanks in Advance,

    I figured out the problem, there wasn't any problem with the script but I had to correct inputs in windows task scheuler
    Below is the resolution:
    Under Actions:
        Program/Script --> ws\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe
        Add Argument --> -noexit -command ". 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\bin\RemoteExchange.ps1'; Connect-ExchangeServer -auto

    Eariler I was writing the filepath after double quote "
    Also I have selected the option "Run with Highest Privilages" to avoid

  • Run a powershell script with domain credentials during task sequence

    I have a powershell script that adds the computer it is run on to a security group.  If I log onto the computer with a domain account it works perfectly.  However, if it is run while logged on as the local admin account it fails with an error message
    that says the domain either doesn't exist or cannot be reached.
    This is a problem because when a computer is being imaged the process runs with the local admin account.  Is there a way to run this script with domain credentials in the task sequence?
    Thanks,
    Andy

    How are you running the Powershell script? If you use a Run Command Line step, you can specify an account to run as. Something like "powershell %scriptroot%\psscript.ps1" where the psscript.ps1 is located in your Scripts folder in your deployment
    share.

  • Problem running a powershell script on Server2008

    I have a script that references another PS script that deletes a bunch of files in some folders.  Both files are in the same folder.  When I run my script, it works fine and the files are deleted from the folders as desired.  However, if I
    try it from the Run command or from within task scheduler, it doesn't run.  I triple checked and the execution policy is set to unrestricted.
    I have been beating my head against the wall for hours, trying every possible combination and am at the end of my rope for today.  I'm exceedingly new to Powershell and would deeply appreciate any help.
    The error I get is:
    The term '.\deleteold.ps1' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program....
    At C:\users\user_name\folderpurge.ps1:1 char: 16

              +CategoryInfo              :ObjectNotFound: (.\deleteold.ps1:String)  [], CommandNotFoundException
               +FullyQualifiedErrorID  :CommandNotFoundException

    The error message is pretty explicit.  THe scritp tha tis being called has issues.
    Where is "deleteold.ps1" stored.  Is it on a network share?  Rememebr that you are "remote signed"  NOT REMOTE ASSIGNED.
    A script on a share is "remote" and must be signed.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
    When you say I am remote signed, not remote assigned, are you telling me to modify the execution policy?  Thanks for your insight.
    Greg
    There is no such thing as remote "assigned"  Be sure you are set to RemoteSigned:
    PS C:\scripts> Get-ExecutionPolicy
    RemoteSigned
    The error also may indicate that you have another issue with the file.  Be sure it is not blocked.
    Unblock-File c:\users\user_name\folderpurge.ps1

  • How I run a shell script from the scheduler on 10.2.0.2.0 ?

    Hello Oracle People,
    I'd like to run a shell script from the Scheduler in my 10g database.
    Right now it is a simple shell script.
    Eventually it will wrap RMAN commands to back up my DB.
    I wrote a simple pl/sql script to create a job:
    -- cr_job10.sql
    BEGIN
    DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB (
    job_name => 'my_backup_job',
    job_type => 'EXECUTABLE',
    job_action => '/h/oracle/scripts/tst.sh',
    start_date => '06-SEP-07 5.33.00PM US/Pacific',
    repeat_interval => 'FREQ=DAILY',
    end_date => '08-SEP-07 4.00.00PM US/Pacific',
    enabled => TRUE,
    comments => 'My Backup Job');
    END;
    I see no errors when I run the above procedure.
    I checked DBA_SCHEDULER_JOBS and the job is in there.
    The scheduler, though, errors out with an error which I see in a trace file:

    There, I see some evidence that I need to configure something inside
    of Oracle to run shell scripts from the scheduler, but possibly just
    for machines running windows. I'm running Solaris.
    Do any of you know what I need to configure inside of Oracle to
    run shell scripts from the scheduler?
    -Owen

    Hello people,
    I should have added this bit of information:
    "The script runs fine from oracle's crontab."
    "The script runs fine from a shell owned by oracle."
    I'm getting responses telling me to check my env variables and permissions
    which would be helpful to a UNIX novice.
    I have a feeling that no one is using the scheduler to run RMAN scripts.
    Tim Hall suggested I take a close look at these files:
    $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/externaljob.ora
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/extJob
    Currently I'm setup like this:
    bash sol root /h/oracle/product/10r2/bin 31 #

    I am focused on this error:
    ORA-27369: job of type EXECUTABLE failed with exit code: 274662
    And I am focused on this exit code: 274662
    What does 274662 mean?
    If the Scheduler gives me an error like "274662" rather than some English,
    it's obvious to me the Scheduler is a POS and I should not use it.
    And of course,
    If I cannot run RMAN from Oracle Scheduler, I'll use cron.

  • Running a Powershell script via IIS on client machine

    Hello,
    I have a Powershell script that I want to serve to clients that will access my site.
    The script is simple - it will terminate Outlook and Communicator and restart in Cleanfreebusy mode.
    Researching this has noted that there is an IIS plugin that will allow the running of Powershell scripts?
    I would like to ask you, colleagues, is there a way I may be able to do this? That is to allow my clients run this Powershell script without downloading locally.
    Many many thanks,

    I have somewhat of a similar process, where I asked on the ASP.NET forums, as I needed my users of an Intranet site to be able to have a script run with the click of the button. I was told that it was not possible, as the browser is built to not allow stuff
    like this for security reasons.
    I haven't heard of a plugin so maybe there are other ways, but what I actually had to do, was create a batch file, and than on my webpage I added an IFrame
    <iframe id="myIframe" runat="server"></iframe>
    Than either in the html markup you can set the src attribute (I did mine in the code behind), to the directory where the file is at, so for instance \\myserver\fileishere
    Obviously the location needs to be shared and allow all users read/execute. This will display the file on the web page, and then the users, just double click it and it executes.
    You can possibly have a batch file that calls powershell and the script, but the script will need to be downloaded to the users machine, so it may be easier to find a batch equivallent of your powershell script and use DOS commands

  • Installer launching command prompt that should run a powershell script and remain open

    I am using the Microsoft Visual Studio Installer Projects extension for VS 2013. This installer is designed to place a windows app in a directory and then launch a powershell script to prompt the user to sideload the application. From what I read online,
    you can make a windows console application and then add that .exe under the install custom actions to have the exe run after the installation is done. My installer is running the executable, but not in the way I want it to. This is the code that the console
    application has:
    static void Main(string[] args)
    Process.Start(@"C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe", @"-ExecutionPolicy bypass -NoExit -File Application\Add-AppDevPackage.ps1");
    One key thing to note here is the -NoExit. I want the prompt to remain open. If I run this console application directly, the powershell console does indeed stay open. You can see here where I have added the .exe as part of the install custom action.
    One additional thing to note is when I looked at the exe in the directory after the install, it is different than the one generated when I compile the console application project. I wouldn't know why the installer is physically changing the binary when I
    expect it to just copy the output from that compiled project/copy that file.
    If anyone has any additional input on how to make this process easier to have an installer (.msi) to place my windows app in a directory and run a powershell script to prompt the user to sideload it, then I welcome that too.

  • How can I setup a scheduled task to run a Powershell Script delivered as a Group Policy Preference

    I have a Powershell script I want to run only once when a user logs onto their system. This script would move all the PST files from the Local drive and the Home drive to a folder location within the users profile. I wanted to run this as a Windows 7 Scheduled Task using Group Policy Preferences. How can I get this to happen short of a logon script? I have updated all the machines to WMF 4.0 so could I use a Scheduled Job instead? I wanted to run the script as the logon user but elevated.#Start Outlook and Disconnect attached PST files.
    $Outlook = New-Object -ComObject Outlook.Application
    $namespace = $outlook.getnamespace("MAPI")
    $folder = $namespace.GetDefaultFolder("olFolderInbox")
    $explorer = $folder.GetExplorer()
    $explorer.Display()
    $myArray= @()
    $outlook.Session.Stores | where{ ($_.FilePath -like'*.PST') } | foreach{[array]$myArray+= $_.FilePath}
    for
    ($x=0;$x-le$myArray.length-1;$x++)
    $PSTPath= $myArray[$x]
    $PST= $namespace.Stores | ?{$_.FilePath -like$PSTPath}
    $PSTRoot= $PST.GetRootFolder() #Get Root Folder name of PST
    $PSTFolder= $Namespace.Folders.Item($PSTRoot.Name) #Bind to PST for disconnection
    $Namespace.GetType().InvokeMember('RemoveStore',[System.Reflection.BindingFlags]::InvokeMethod,$null,$Namespace,($PSTFolder)) #Disconnect .PST
    #Move All PST files to the default location while deleting the PST files from their original location.
    $SourceList = ("$env:SystemDrive", "$env:HOMEDRIVE")
    $Destination = ("$env:USERPROFILE\MyOutlookFiles")
    (Get-ChildItem -Path $SourceList -Recurse -Filter *.PST) | Move-Item -Destination $Destination
    #Attach all PST files from the default location.
    Add-type -assembly "Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook" | out-null
    $outlook = new-object -comobject outlook.application
    $namespace = $outlook.GetNameSpace("MAPI")
    dir “$env:USERPROFILE\MyOutlookFiles\*.pst” | % { $namespace.AddStore($_.FullName) }

    Mike,
    I do not understand what appears to be a regular expression above. I did add the PowerShell script to the HKCU RunOnce Key as suggested.
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -noprofile -sta -WindowStyle Hidden -ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned -File "C:\scripts\Windows PowerShell\Move-PST.ps1"
     I'm delivering this using Group Policy Preferences. It seems to fail or time out when run because the behavior is different if I run the script from within the PowerShell IDE. I added the parameters to the script and will try it again in the morning.
