Running Business Rules with Decision Service using WebDav

Hello everybody, I have a problem when I change a rule from Rules Author.
I have the following scenario:
Machine1 - I have Oracle Soa Suite 10 and I have defined a rule set using Rules Author pointing to a WebDav repository on Machine2
Machine2 - I have define my WebDav repository, it contains the rule "amountToPay > 100"
Machine3 - I have a deploy of a BPEL process using a Decision Service and Decide Activity elements pointing to my WebDav repository
When I test my BPEL process it works correctly, but after I change the rule in Rules Author (on machine1) to "amountToPay > 200" the next invocations of BPEL process still evaluating the rule "amountToPay > 100" and doesn't evaluates my last changes on the rule, and I need to redeploy my BPEL process so that it takes the new changes on the repository.
I am using Assert facts, execute rule set, retrieve results, and reset the session operation pattern in decision service and assertExecuteWatchStateless in invoke activity. I tried using assertExecuteWatchStateful as well but there was no difference in the result, any idea of that?
Does the BPEL process needs to be redeployed?
What can I do so that my rules take effect?
I've searched for documentation but I couldn't find any solution.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I am new to Oracle Fusion and working on Business Rules.
Can you please tell me the changes need to be done in the sample java application to connect to the webDAV repository(carrental example which they have given in user guide)?
Thanks in advance.
I am using 10.1.3.1 version.

  • Can not run business rule with bat file

    Hi all,
I've problem with using *.bat file to run business rule. My Essbase version is 11.1.1.3 and the syntax within
*.bat is simple, but I always got the Usage message and can not execute the rule.
The error result as blow(I already execute the syntax in command panel directly):
    C:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\eas\console\bin>CmdLnLauncher -SWILSON -Usynadmin -P111111 -r0004_COPYDATA
Usage: CmdLineLauncher [-p:<passwordFile>] -Sservername -Uusername [-rBusiness R
ule Name | -sSequence Name] [-fRun Time Prompts file] [-validate]
My *.bat file content as below:
    cd c:\Hyperion\products\Essbase\eas\console\bin
call CmdLnLauncher -SWILSON -Usynadmin -P1111111 -r0004_COPYDATA
Is there something wrong? If anyone know about this problem, please help, thanks!!

    Hi,
Here is a brief overview on how to use the command line launcher.
You can create a file and put the following information into it filling in the servername, app name and db name
    ExecDB::"Planning/servername/appname/dbname"
Save it as .xml file (don’t think it has to be an xml, could be .txt), so something like connect.xml
Then when you run your command line do exactly like before Cmdlnlauncher -Sservername -Uusername -p:password.txt -rrule -fconnect.xml
If you have variables in your rule you can
In EAS right click over the rule and select "Automate Launch Variables", fill in the details and then save it is as an xml.
You just need to reference the xml in the batch script as described above using the -f parameter, for sequences remove -rrule and use –sSequence
update password.txt to the name of your password file.
    Cheers
    John

  • Running Business Rules with global Variables in Composite Forms

    Hi,
I am having trouble running Business Rules, that include Global Variables, in composite forms.
I have two forms in the composite form, both have entity in Page dimension set to 'local'. one includes entities at level 3 and the other has entities at level 0. I need to pass this level 0 entity to the business rule, from the form.
When i try to run the rule, it gives me the following error:
"This rule cannot be launched because it has hidden rtp variables without default values "
I get this error even when i set the default value for the global variable.
This rule runs perfectly when run from the individual form (which is part of the composite form).
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Known Issue: 9900514
The Use Members on Data Form and Hide Prompt options for business rules attached to composite data forms apply only for runtime prompt values from the globally shared pages and POVs of a composite data form. In other words, this will only use members that are shared across all component data forms. If users want a business rule to take context from a single component data form, they should attach the business rule to that component data form and include the business rules for that component data form at the composite data form level (<Business rules for componentX>).
Please let me know if this is not what we are talking about.
    Thank you,
    Todd Rebner

  • Business Rules- Two Decision Services (.decs) on the same composite

    Hello.
I have a composite where i designed a rules dictionary (.rules) and created a decision services metadata(.decs). This decision service declares the corresponding decision function for which it was created a .WSDL for invocation via web service. The decision function receives an object called 'document' with name space '..../document'.
I can invoke the decision service via soapUI and receive the expected results.
Then I created another rules dictionary (.rules) and other decision services metadata(.decs). This decision service declares another decision function for which it was created another .WSDL for invocation via web service. The decision function receives an object called 'notificationDecisionFact' with name space '..../notificationDecision'. The notification decision is an xml element composed of other types like 'document', 'workTask', among others.
When i tested the first decision service again (the one previosly working) i obtain an error saying something like:
    unexpected element <{.../document} document>. The expected elements were <{.../workTask} workTask>,<{.../workTaskRequest} workTaskRequest>
But when i came to jdeveloper and disable the option 'invoke as a webservice' on the second decision function (eliminating the corresponding WSDL) the first decision service comes back to normal functioning.
I don't have any ideia why the service/work memory/BR engine is expecting that elements when i have two WSDL from different rules dictionary. The xml facts for both dictonary were constructed from the same set os XSD, but the WSDL seems to appear correct with the properly element types and namespaces.
Is there any issues regarding with two cecision services (.decs) on the same composite?
Any help would be very appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!
    Best Regards.

  • Can not run the Business rules with Hyperion Business Rules Desinger

<p>I created  a business rules with Business Rules Designer, and validate is ok, but when I run it, pop a blank window withtitle "Run Error", how to solve it ?</p><p> </p><p>Thanks</p>

I would export the rule to essbase and test it there. I should run and the log will tell you something. I would also look at the business rules log to see what it says. <BR><BR>

  • Error connecting to Essbase Server when running business rules

We recently migrated from v9.3 to v11.1.1.3. I have two users with Administrative access who need to run business rules on a native Essbase application, but cannot. They get the message 'Error connecting to Essbase Server'. They get this message when trying to set this execution database. They can't even expand the server to see the list of applications. I have tried deprovisioning them in Shared Services, refreshing security, then adding it all back in and refreshing again, but it doesn't work. My own id has identical access to that which I'm granting them, and I have no problems. I even created a native user with the same access and it works as well. No matter what I do, I cannot get these two users to be able to run their business rules in EAS.
We also have a Planning application, and the Planning Administrative user has the same issue. However, this user is able to get around it by running rules using the Planning connection rather than the Essbase connection. She has the same issue of not seeing anything under the Essbase Servers when trying to set the execution database though.
In version 9, we were not using Shared Services for Essbase security. Unfortunately our consultant chose to set it up using Shared Services security when migrating, and according to the documentation, one cannot go back to using Native Essbase security.
I also tried running the Externalize Users wizard and the three users with issues failed to externalize. My own id did, and the native user I created succeeded.
Has anyone experienced an issue like this or have any ideas on how to resolve?
    Thanks,
    Sabrina

Follow up - Oracle has finally resolved this. It's so simple, yet no one thought to check until now. The three users with problems all have mixed case user id's in ldap. They have always logged into EAS with all lower case ids. In version 9, on native security, this was never a problem. But in version 11 using Shared Services (not sure which factor changed it), it doesn't work. The simple solution is to log in with their exact mixed case user ids. It only took Oracle three months and the creation of a bug issue to figure this out for us.

  • Network Error []: Cannot Get Host Name when running business rules

    Guru's
We are getting the following error intermittently when we are running business rules (Planning Application >>Tools>>Business Rules) or running SmartView refreshes:
Network error []: Cannot Get Host Name
The following is then logged in the Essbase Application logs:
    Local/Application/Database/admin@Native Directory/Error(1042022)
Network error []: Cannot Get Host Name.
A quick look at the Essbase Error Messages Doc says it is a network error and we have to consult the network documentation. Unfortunately this is not very descriptive so we logged an SR with Oracle but we don't seem to be getting a resolution.
The environment is 11.1.2.0 and the architecture is as follows:
    Server 1 - MS Server 2008 x64:
Planning, Calc Manager, Foundation Services, Framework Web Services, EAS, APS, Web Analysis, FR Web Services
    Server 2 - MS Server 2008 x64:
    Essbase Server
    Server 3 - MS Server 2008 x64:
    Framework Services, FR Print Services
We have tried doing the following:
    1. Put in the server host names into the hosts file on the Hyperion Servers
    2.  Applied the following TCP/IP settings on all the Hyperion Servers and one of the user machines as a test:
          - Added a new DWORD Value named TcpTimedWaitDelay and set it to 30.
         - Added a new DWORD Value named MaxUserPort and set it to 65534.
         - Added a new DWORD Value named MaxFreeTcbs and set it to 6250
    3. Confirmed that there are no packet drops by monitoring the server NICs so no packet loss could be the cause of this issue
    4. The Essbase Config file has the following settings:
    NETDELAY 2000
    NETRETRYCOUNT 2500
Has anyone come across this issue and if you managed to resolve it, how did you go about it.
    Thanx

    Hi Rahul
The issue is happening to a number of calcs so it it not one calc specifically. I will ask the functional consultants to enhance the logging in the business rules so that we can see if the issue happens on a specific member\block etc and yes we do use Xrefs
We can run this as a calc in EAS without any issues and it's intermittent because this business rule runs 95% of the time in Planning Application >> Tools >>Business Rules without any issues.
    Thanks

  • BUSINESS RULES WITH SYNCHRONOUS BPEL PROCESS

    Hi
I want to know whether i can use Business Rules with Synchronous BPEL process. Actually i developed an example synchronous BPEL process but while invoking decision service it generated an error stating RECEIVE TIMEOUT fault. But when i created identical process in ASYNCHRONOUS mode it went through without any error.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Unable to integarte Oracle business rules with BPEL

    hi'
I am unable to integrate Business rules with BPEL, I am using JDeveloper to do this.
I have successfully made a connection to rule repository and using decision service in synchronous BPEL process.
In the decision service wizard step 1 of 2
1.) Selected 'Execute Ruleset' in Invocation pattern
2.) Selected rules set which I have cretead before.
the problem is coming when nothing is geting displayed in the
window below for Fact name, assert name, watch fact.
please help me why Fact name, assert name, watch fact are not coming.
    thanks

    Thanks Anirudh,
Do I need to make some changes in the java classes or in the XSD file which I am importing while creating new BPEL process
I am importing the same XSD file in input and output, actually I am updating the database in the BPEL process so I am taking the
input from the payload and updating the DB.
Do I need to make two different <complexType name="updatingDB"> and <complexType name="businessrules">in the XSD
if you have some example which shows the Integration of BPEL and Business rules
with Java facts please share it with me.
    thanks

  • Import a business rule with LCM

    Hi,
I have edited a new version of a business rule. After exporting it with LCM in development, I tried to import it (with LCM) on my test environment.
It appears that, even if the LCM import is successful my business rule (that already exist on my test environment) wasn't replaced.
Is there any parameter I have missed somewhere, because I can replace existing webform, or any planning components, but I can't replace business rules.
    I'm using Planning 11.1.1.3
    Regards,
    Franck

    Hi,
If you want to replace a Business Rule into Planning using LCM you have to follow these steps:
If you use Business Rule Server:
    1. Connect to Essbase Application from LCM console
    2. Find your business rule and replace it
    If you use Calc manager:
    1. Connect to Calc Manager Application from LCM console
    2. Find your business rule and replace it
    3. Connect to Calc Mananger console and Deploy your Business Rule
Remark: You can replace it directly from your planning application

  • Error 1200323 after long hours of running business rules?

    Hi all,
I am experiencing some problems with running business rules....
I got a sequence which includes about 20 business rules to run....
After several hours of running this sequence, it shows the errorcode: 1200323, which said that "Error parsing formula for [REGION DEFINITION] (line 1): expression expected after [(].
However, worst of all, this error does not always happen. Sometimes, I could run this sequence successfully without any error happening.
Any one experienced the same problem before?
Any suggestion are welcome and appreciated....
    Thank you,
    Casper

You have a defective video card, take it in for service.
Run a hardware check by holding the d key down (for a long time) when rebooting, wrtie down what it says if anything.
If you didn't buy AppleCare, you have 1 year from the day of purchase to do so, it's highly recommended as the iMac's all in one design is prone to issues with heat, and it's not modular so one part goes down requires the entire machine to be brought in for service.
IMO, I never recommend a iMac expect to very light desktop consumer type users, heavy business users I recommend a MacPro this way they can switch parts and keep on going, unless they are a rich buisnes that can afford to have another iMac on standby.

  • Running Business rules thru MAXL(or CmdLnLauncher.bat utility)

I want to run the Business rule. Daily 3 times(Like automation) in 11.1.1.3 version
    Refering to the forums
    Running Business rules thru MAxl
    .RTP file format
i found its not possible through Maxl.
But I was not able to understand clearly how to do the process atleast through "CmdLnLauncher"
Where can i Find the utility Folder
and Where and how do i need to write the script to run Business Rule(I also wanted to use the Runtime Prompt)
Note : i went to EAS --> Right click on BR--> Automatice BR --> Saved the File in desktop with .xml file

The utility will be on a machine where EAS has been installed, it will be located at <HYPERION_HOME>\products\essbase\eas\console\bin
The post you linked to .RTP file format has all the details on running it.
    Cheers

  • Running Business rules thru MAxl

Is it possible to run business rules through Maxl. If yes how do I pass parameters to the business rule, if I am running it thru a Maxl script?
    Thanks in advance.

What, you guys aren't using graphical business rules? :)
I am currently working with a long time Essbase consultant who is new to Planning. He had coded his HBR as a calc script, and was ready to port it over to Planning/HBR.
The expression on his face when he first looked at the graphical interface was priceless.
I tried to explain about the early beginnings in HAM (Hyperion Allocation Manager), and how much better HBR is today than it was when it was graphical-only, and...I just gave up and showed him how to make it an Enhanced Calc Script.
We are all looking forward (?) to Calc Manager.

  • Upgrade Business rules with Calc Manager

    Hello Gurus,
Recently performed an upgrade from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 by replicating the Database to a new database machine.
I had Business rules in 11.1.1.3 and did not perform any steps to migrate the rules to Calculation manager in 11.1.2.2
    The doubt I have is,
    1. Are the business rules automatically upgraded when performing upgrade by EPM system configurator (since the database is replicated)
    2. If so, how do I see the business rules in 11.1.2.2 environment? How can I use migrate feature option.
    Thanks
    HyperionEPM.

    From 11.1.2.2 documentation:
    Upgrade Wizard
If your application used Oracle Hyperion Business Rules, the Upgrade Wizard automatically converts Business Rules business rules to Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager business rules. Release 11.1.2.2 supports onlyBusiness Rules business rules as the calculation module.
    Notes:
•Classic application administration is now called Oracle Hyperion Planning application administration (versus Oracle Hyperion EPM Architect application administration).
•The Upgrade Wizard automatically upgrades applications having Oracle Hyperion Business Rules business rules, converting them to Calculation Manager business rules. However, the Upgrade Wizard does not automatically convert Release 11.1.2.1 applications having Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager business rules. For those upgrade instructions, see the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide.
Business Rules Maintenance Release and Upgrade Installation PrerequisitesIf you are using Business Rules, you must migrate to Calculation Manager rules in Release 11.1.2.2. Before migrating business rules, you must perform prerequisite tasks. Note that these tasks are required if you are applying the maintenance release or if you are upgrading.
To prepare to migrate Business Rules, perform the following tasks in your current Business Rules environment before installing Release 11.1.2.2:
1.in Business Rules, within the Rule Editor, remove the associated outline (that is, the design time location) from each business rule. After you do this, the Associated Outline drop-down list should display the text, Select Outline.
2.On the Locations tab of the Rule Editor, ensure that each business rule has a valid launch location, which must be an absolute location. Although “All Locations” is valid in Business Rules, when you migrate business rules, you must provide the details of a specific launch location (that is, the application type---Planning or Essbase, the server name, the application name, and the database or plan type). If you want a business rule to be valid for multiple launch locations, you must provide the details for each location. The locations must be in different applications; you cannot migrate the same business rule to different plan types in the same application within Calculation Manager.
If the rule is a part of a sequence, then the launch location of the rule within the sequence must be one of the launch locations listed in the Locations tab of the rule.
3.On the Access Privileges tab of the Rule Editor, ensure that each business rule has security defined for a specific location or locations and not “All Locations.” If multiple locations are defined for a business rule on its Locations tab, you must add security for each location individually.
4.Do not modify rules in Calculation Manager until migration is completed.
5.If you are using Business Rules with Planning, as a precaution, create a backup of the rules: Use Administration Services to export the rules to XML in Business Rules format. If you are upgrading from 11.1.1.3 or 11.1.1.4, also export the rules to Calculation Manager format. EPM System Configurator exports the rules during database configuration for use during application upgrade.
6.If you are an Essbase-only Business Rules user, you must export business rules. To export the Essbase rule from Business Rules:
a.From Administration Services Console, right-click the Business Rules node and select Export.
b.Export the rules in Business Rules format and then select all of the Essbase rules in the repository. If you are upgrading from 11.1.1.3 or 11.1.1.4, also export the rules to Calculation Manager format.
c.Specify the location to save the XML file, and then click OK. If you are upgrading, the location should be a shared drive that is accessible from the upgraded environment.
Make a note of the location. You import the file later in the process.
Migrating Business Rules to Calculation Manager for use with Planning
If you applied the maintenance release to move from Planning Release 11.1.2.0 or 11.1.2.1 to Release 11.1.2.2, and you were using Business Rules rules, you must migrate the rules to Calculation Manager rules.
Before you migrate, ensure that user directories and native users with the same SID are available when you upgrade Shared Services.
Ensure that the Planning applications are upgraded to the current release and are available in Calculation Manager under SYSTEM View.
To migrate Business Rules rules to Calculation Manager rules:
1.In Calculation Manager, select the migrated Planning application, and then select Migrate.
The data that was exported during database configuration with EPM System Configurator is imported to Calculation Manager.
    2.Repeat for each Planning application.
3.Deploy the rules from Calculation Manager to Planning. See the Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager Designer's Guide.
After migrating business rules and rules security, if any of the rules had multiple launch locations and you migrated to more than one location, Calculation Manager creates a rule for the first migration, and shortcuts for all subsequent migrations. If the rule had rule-level variables, for the shortcuts that are created in the application in the new environment , its variables are moved to the Plan level. In this scenario, test rules in your environment to ensure that they work as expected.
If you still have problems, raise an SR and we can get on a call to figure out why the rules are not coming over.

  • Problem running business rules through forms that are 15+ mins long.

I just upgraded to 9.3.1 from 9.0.1 and we are having some issues with our business rules. We have business rules that can run up to several hours but the status on the screen ends up timing out with a 'please see planning' log error.
The error in the log states: Status unknown, calculation context no longer available
I can tell every second planning is checking on the business rule but after about 15 mins it does not:[9/5/08 19:47:06:810 CDT] 000000c1 SystemOut O state in essMainCalc.getprocessstate = 1
Even though there is an error I can look at what is running in essbase and see that the business rule is still running. When it finishes it does what it is supposed to do.
I have tried updating HBRServer.properties to a new timeout but it does not work.
I am really lost here, can anyone help?

    Hi,
There are a couple of you have, you can switch business rules to start running in the background after a certain time, the status of the rules can then be checked from planning with the business rules status page
    To set this up :-
1 Select Administration > Manage Properties.
2 Select Application Properties to set properties and values for a Planning application.
3 Add the property by clicking Add, entering the property in the blank row, and entering a value in Property
    Value:
Enter HBR_MAX_WAIT_FOR_RULE and the interval in milliseconds to wait before running
business rules in the background. If this property is not set, the feature does not work, and
business rules do not run in the background.
Optional: Enter HBR_MONITOR_DELAY and the interval in milliseconds for checking
    business rule status.
The default and minimum value for both options is 180000 milliseconds (3 minutes). If you
set a lower value, that value is ignored, and the property is set to the default value.
4 Click Save and confirm your changes.
Or you could try installing patch 9.3.1.1.1 or above (it is now at 9.3.1.1.7) from metalink3.
The patch includes :- (8-665086601) When the Business Rules connection to the relational database is lost, Business Rules does not reconnect to it. To solve this problem, an optional property, HBR_CONNECTION_VALIDATE_TIME, was added to HBRServer.properties. This property specifies a time interval for checking the connection between Business Rules and the relational database. If the connection is not valid, a new connection is established
    I hope this helps
