Running multiple IE sessions each using different version of RE

I understand that it is being said that multiple versions of the JRE can be run in different browser sessions. However, multiple versions cannot be run in the same browser session. I have 2 web applications one uses 1.3.1_04 and the other 1.4.2_10. How can I get two sessions for both appl running simultaniously without having IE problems? Right now the only way I am able to manage from one appl to the other is as follow: I can login to the one appl successfully, then have to logoff and shut down all IE windows, restart a new IE session and login to the other appl. Right now it appears that once I login to one appl, the JRE is loaded to IE, and then shared in all windows and subsequent sessions untill I shut all exisiting IE windows down. The problem is encountered irrespect of how I start a new session: I usually go from one appl to the other through clicking on my favorites, but I have also tried holding shift down when clicking on other favorite, clicked on IE shortcut while other IE window is open to open a new session..but it seems only way IE clears itself is to completely start IE fresh over again so then IE will know which required JRE to load.
Unchecking Reuse Windows for Launching Shortcuts partly resolved the issue.

  • Running multiple java apps simultaneously, using different versions of jre.

    I have a situation where I have 3 or 4 applications (and one applet) that were built over time, each with a different version of the jdk (ranging from 1.2.2.005 to 1.3.2). I need to know of a way (and it must exist) to run each of these applications on the same machine, and at runtime, have each application (or applet) run with its respective version of the jre. Certainly, one could change some source code and make all programs compatible with a particular jre, but that doesn't solve my problem if a new app is built with a new version of the jdk down the road. Currently, each runs fine by themselves, but if I try to run them together as different processes, some won't do anything because the default jre may not be what it needs. Would the Java Plug-in software have a role to play in this? Is there a way to specify (link) which application should use which jre?
    P.S. These applications (right now) don't have to interact or interface in any way. I just need to have them all running as separate processes on the same machine and be able to jump from one to the other.

    Write a batch file that sets the environment properly and restores it afterwards, here is a sample batch file we use which switches to IBM's JRE to run an app:
    OLDPATH=$PATH
    PATH=$PATH:"/usr/local/java/IBMJava2-13/jre/bin"
    OLDCP=$CLASSPATH
    CLASSPATH="/usr/local/java/IBMJava2-13/jre/lib/rt.jar:."
    OLDHOME=$JAVA_HOME
    JAVA_HOME="/usr/local/java/IBMJava2-13/jre"
    # put the command to execute your program here
    java -jar app.jar
    PATH=$OLDPATH
    CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH
    JAVA_HOME=$JAVA_HOME
    This is for Linux, but it should be possible to write one for Windows too.

  • Run Admin Server with multiple Managed Servers each using different userid?

    We currently run separate WebLogic domain instances for each business application in a Unix environment. Each one is created using a unix userid unique to that application and which owns all the files and is used to run the process when that particular WebLogic instance is started up. We have run this way for a while.
    I am considering altering our approach to the one that is recommended, i.e. in our Production environment we would run a single Admin instance with numerous managed servers. One issue I'm stuck on is the fact that in our current environment, each application has a different unix userid that owns the files making up the WebLogic domain instance and that WebLogic instance is run under that userid.
    I've investigated and experimented using WebLogic 10.3 preview and WebLogic 10.0, but I haven't been able to determine what I have to do to make each managed server's files and processes belong to a different unix userid, if that is even possible.
    Is there a way, using the recommended approach, where there is a single Admin instance that has multiple managed servers whose files and processes are owned by different unique, unix userids?
    If not, how would you separate access to each of the Managed Servers so that the programmers who maintain them don't have access to Managed Servers that they are not responsible for?
    Thanks for any help or suggestions.....

    Hi:
    I played with this stuff and I found that this will work, without the Location elements:
    <IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
    MatchExpression /app1 WebLogicHost=server1|WebLogicPort=7003
    MatchExpression /app2 WebLogicHost=server2|WebLogicPort=7003
    </IfModule>
    Also this will work too, with no entries inside the IfModule element:
    <Location /app1 >
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicHost server1
    WebLogicPort 7003
    </Location>
    <Location /app2 >
    SetHandler weblogic-handler
    WebLogicHost server2
    WebLogicPort 7003
    </Location>

  • How do I use the Profile Manager to run multiple PHP sessions?

    I have a website that tracks the session and state of users as they traverse through the site. Several users can "work together" simultaneously. To test this cooperative functionality, I ran multiple Firefox profiles simultaneously on my computer, using Firefox's Profile Manager. After logging in as two users (one on each separate running Firefox instance), one of my Firefox instances still works, while the other one does not seem to track the session.
    How do I create and run multiple Firefox instances to allow me to test the functionality of such sites? I believe this worked a few months ago. Perhaps this is a new bug?
    I even tried running normal Firefox and Firefox Extended Support Release simultaneously, but I ran into the same error.

    Disregard the question. The solution has nothing to do with any "Firefox bug". Turns out that my session wasn't being managed properly. Or rather, I was accidentally deleting other users' information when new users logged in. So if I had user 1 and user 2, and user 2 logged in after user 1, some of user 1's information would be deleted, resulting in the errors.
    Oops; sorry about the false alarm. :)
    (Was hoping to retract the question, but it looks like others have a similar problem.)

  • How can I handle deploying multiple test systems on the same PC that have been developed using different versions of LabVIEW, TestStand, and/or Switch Executive?

    The major issue here is that the test systems must be documented and validated before being released to the production floor. Given this if a test station has multiple test systems deployed on it that have been developed on various versions of LV, TS, and Switch exec how can I force the test system selected to use the correct versions of TS, LV, and Switch exec.? I understand that the solution would be to recomplie everything and bring them up to the latest version but that would then require re-validation according to the QA department. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    It would be nice if theTS deployment was more like an LV executable... meaning when a LV executable is launched it always knows what LV runtime engine to use when there are multiple engines installed on a PC.

    Hi,
    Multiply versions of teststand can reside on the same system, but only one version can run at a time. They is a utility that has to be run to set the active version.
    The SequenceFiles have a version number, and you will find an error will be generate if you try to Load the sequencefile in the wrong version of TestStand.
    The labview VIs will only work providing the correct version of the RTE is also installed on your system, even a labview executabe requires the correct RTE to be installed, either as part of the executable installation or as a seperate installation, before the labview exe will work correctly.
    I'm not fimilar with the Switch exec but I would expect that it will also require the correct lower level device drivers to be available for the version you are using.
    Therefore, as you are indicating that some of your system are at  a older version, its difficult to image how you could achive this, considering if you say you have different versions of the software(s). For a start, you may have the problem that newer code/ sequencefiles using additional functionatily not available in the older versions.
    I would think your only solution would  be to have different deployments covering the different versions you have, or at least bring all your test systems up to the same version of teststand.

  • Navigation within swf files that use different version of actionscript

    I have multiple swf files that need to link up together, the problem is this, some of the files was developed a few years ago with Flash MX and actionscript 1 while some of these files was developed recently in CS 5 with actionscript 3.
    Is it possible to navigate within different version of actionscript files in the same flash player?
    I found that actionscript 1 file will not work once i have navigated to actionscript 3 file.
    Any suggession or solutions would be highly appreciate.

    Actually, it will not work properly. Given, the code behind all these swf(s) is Object Oriented then there is a solid chance of getting them to communicate with each other without any issue. Once suggestion would be to centralize the navigation into its own swf and then dispatchEvents and have the listeners handle the rest. I am sure there are other avenues, but I would do it this way so if there any other such file(s) in the future, all you will need to do is hook the plumbing up and off it goes. Now if the code is anything but 'Object Oriented' then it will take good chunk of time to get the navigation going. However way you decide to pursue it, test it rigorously so there aren't any foo surprises.
    Thanks.

  • Ok to use different versions of java?

    Hello,
    I installed jdk1.4.2_05 a while ago. I have since downloaded a jar file that requires java 5. Would it be ok to download and install this latest version and still have 1.4.02_05 running also?i,e, is it ok to have run different versions of java on the one machine. Would there be any conflicts etc?

    It's quite common to have multiple versions of Java on the same machine. Obviously you shouldn't install them in the same folder structure though.
    /j2sdk1.4.2_03 - contains version 1.4.2_03
    /j2sdkblah.blah - contains version blah.blah

  • How to run multiple java files concurrently using command line?

    Hi,
    I have to write a script to run multiple java files and c files concurrently. Say, A and C are java files and B is another binary executable file, I have to make sure they are run in the order A-B-C, then I was trying to run by using
    java A & ./B & java C
    But it turned out that B could run before A started... Is there any way that I can ensure that A runs before B, and B runs before C by using the command line?
    Thanks a lot.

    GKY wrote:
    Sorry, I didn't make my question clear enough...
    A has to give some output files that B needs to get started,Then B can start at any time--even before A--and just wait for those files to be written. For instance, A could write to a temp file, then rename it to the real name. However, if there are multiple files, and they all have to exist, even this won't necessarily work. There are other approaches that will though.
    although writing the output takes very short time,Depends on when the OS decides to give A CPU time, what else is going on on that disk controller and/or network, etc.
    B could still run before A finishes the writing, As it can if you sleep for 1, or 10, or 1,000,000 seconds before starting B.
    if B can't find the info it wants, it fails to move on. That's why I need to make sure A starts before B.No, you need to make sure A's data is there before B tries to use that data.

  • I need to run multiple external programs concurrently using RMI objects.

    have a web based solutiion which uses a backend machine for some processing. I have a RMI based Java proram running on the backend machine and the web server talks with this backend machine through RMI. Now, on this backend machine, I need to call some external program using Process s = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(....). Since this is a web application, multiple clients will connect at the same time and I need to run this external program for multiple clients at the same time.
    Here is what I do. I have a separate RMI object bound to registry for each client that connects to the web server. This RMI object implements runnable interface, since I can't extend this class from Thread (it already extends from UnicastRemoteObject). So each time I call upon a method from this object, only one process gets started and other objects need to wait till this process finishes.
    I need to start multiple processes at the sametime so that other clients don't have to wait for this thread to finish.
    Please let me know if anybody has any other solution than installing an application server on this backend machine.
    Here is my code.

          System.out.println("Filename: "+resultFile_);
          BufferedWriter wout = new BufferedWriter(out);
          String line = rd.readLine();
           while(line != null)

            wout.write(line);
            wout.newLine();
            wout.flush();
            line = rd.readLine();

          wout.close();
          if(res == 0)

                e.printStackTrace();
        System.out.println("getting results");
        return GlobalConstants.ERROR_MSG;
      }

    I guess I don't get it.
    RMI servers are inherently multi-threaded, so why are you running separate servers for every client?

  • How Can I run multiple independant sessions of LabVIEW on one pc?

    I have tried to accomplish this by creating a second LabVIEW.exe named LabVIEW2.exe. Then I run the original and launch my application, run LabVIEW2.exe and I get a new splash screen but no new instance of LabVIEW in the Task Manager. I have seen this work before on different computers running all the same software. Any suggestions........

    > Can you provide any more info
    > about the computers that did this?
    Some applications on Windows will open a new instance each time their
    EXE is opened or double clicked on. Since LV is able to multitask many
    different VIs and applications, and it is typically useful to reuse
    subVIs, so it was decided that these actions would just open the already
    running LV. If you want to run more than one LV, rename it. Whenever
    you are wanting to open a VI into a particular LV, you really can't
    trust double clicking. The OS decides which app to launch or connect
    to, and it is rather difficult to predict what the outcome will be. For
    this reason, either drag-n-drop the VI/LLB to the EXE, or use open from
    within the EXE.

  • How do I put my photos from a hard drive to my mac using different versions of Iphoto?  It is saying I can't because of the updated version.

    Hello,
    I am trying to move photos from my hard drive to my mac.   Mac is using an updated version of Iphoto and is denying the transfer.
    How do I get around this?  Do I download the order version?  or can I not get my photos?  If anyone can help please do.
    You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto.
    Thanks Carol

    I copied my photos onto my hard drive from my mac about 3 months ago.  I just plugged my hard drive in to put my pictures back onto my mac but it is giving me a message when trying to open up the photos from the hard drive that states
    Like I said we need to know exactly what you did
    THere are lots of totally different ways to "copy your photos" onto a hard drive
    Exactly how did you do that? The correct way to move an iPhoot library is to verify that the hard drive is formattted Mac OS extended (journaled) and then to drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to it - reverse to bring it back - just drag it from the EHD to the pictures folder (default location) on your computer
    Why are you doing this?
    you can try Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database - depending on what has been going on this might resolve things

  • How to run stand alone executables developed with different versions of LabView on the same system

    I am using LabVIEW 8.2 to develop a stand alone executable for a target system.  The target system already has a stand alone executable written by another vendor, using LabVIEW 7.1.  I installed the LV RunTime Engine for 8.2 which left the 7.1 engine intact (as it should).  The problem I am now having is that the drivers installed on the target system are incompatible with the NI-DMM vi's that I am using.  My concern is that if I replace the old drivers with the ones I am using on my development platform I may end up breaking the old software.  What would be an appropriate work around to ensure that the target system will be able to run both executables?  (FWIW the system will NOT be running both executables concurrently.)
    The target system is an embedded PXI card cage, running Windows XP, with a NI PXI-4070 DMM (among other instruments, however I have had not had this issue with the NI-DAQmx drivers).

    Hi Yerffejj,
    Thanks for sharing your issue with the community. I am struggling to see what you mean by "break the software." If you only have the two executables and LV Run-Time versions 8.2 & 7.1, then you just need to go to http://www.ni.com/support/ » Drivers and Updates » Search within Results: » enter "NI-DMM" » GO to get the DMM driver you need. To see the driver you were using on the development machine, just go to Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). The DMM driver should also automatically install DAQmx, NI-VISA, and NI-IVI, fyi.
    Best wishes to you, and please let us know if that does not solve your problem.

  • Adding manifests to Jar files using different  versions

    I have been using the following to add a manifest pointer to my main class called JTiming
    C:\jdk1.1.8\bin\jar cmfv MyMainClass.txt JTiming.jar *
    and it works a treat, when I unjar the jar and look at the manifest file it includes the pointer to JTiming and lists each file jarred. When I try it with JDK1.3.1 or JDK1.4.1 jar.exe's they both fail to create the correct manifest entries. I can't see any notice of a change to the command line ooptions for the jar.exe's for these newer versions what am I missing?

    You seem to misunderstand - if you look at the command line I wrote in my original posting, I do exactly what you suggest!! I am able to include a reference to my starting class, my problem is that I appear to be able to get my own manifest inclusion using 1.1.8 jar.exe, but not using the jar.exe from 1.3.1 or 1.4.0

  • Custom ClassLoader - trying to use different version of SNMP library than WebLogic Server 8.1 uses

    Problem: my J2EE ear file uses the AdventNet third-party library to do
    SNMP work. WebLogic Server 8.1 also uses this AdventNet third-party
    library to do its own SNMP work. The problem is the version used by
    WebLogic 8.1 is older than the version I use, so my code tries to run
    and finds the wrong version of the library that WebLogic 8.1 has supplied.
    Possible solution: I plan to have a custom classloader (derived from
    java.lang.ClassLoader) that gets hooked in to my threads using
    Thread.setContextClassLoader(). This custom classloader would look for
    the AdventNet library jars in a spot I specify so it would find the
    correct ones. Since I want to change the usual classloader behavior of
    "look in parent classloaders first, then child classloader" to "look in
    child classloader first, then in parent classloaders" I can't just
    override ClassLoader.findClass(). I, at a minimum, have to override
    ClassLoader.loadClass() to look in my classloader first. I have
    questions about this:
    1. What other methods do I have to override? For example, which of the
    resource-related methods do I need to override so that resources are
    searched for first in my classloader then in parent classloaders?
    2. I was thinking of using a URLClassLoader as a helper to my
    classloader, invoking its method(s) from my custom classloader's
    method(s) to actually load the classes from URLs that are not on the
    standard classpath. I was planning to set it up with a custom parent
    classloader that can't find anything, so that the helper URLClassLoader
    would only ever find classes/resources in the URLs I provide to it. Does
    this approach make sense? Have you seen anything like this done before?
    3. Is there any way around this problem besides a custom ClassLoader? A
    buggy custom ClassLoader would have problems which AFAIK would be
    difficult to track down as ClassLoader problems.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Thanks,
    -AlvinI finally figured out a way to do it using a custom classloader that
    looked in the directory where I kept the version of AdventNet I wanted
    before looking in the normal places classloaders look.
    How it works is I hook two classloaders at the bottom of the chain of
    classloaders. My custom BlockingClassLoader is hooked as a child of the
    normal chain of classloaders, then a URLClassLoader is hooked under
    that. The BlockingClassLoader's findClass method checks if the class
    starts with a package prefix I want to control (like "com.adventnet.").
    If it does, then it acts like it can't find the class. This makes its
    child, the URLClassLoader, try to find the class. The URLClassLoader
    is given the URL of places to look for classes that match the directory
    I keep the version of AdventNet I want in. When I load a class, I
    directly tell the URLClassLoader to load it so that it is loaded as I want.
    There's more to it than this. I had to override some other methods in
    my BlockingClassLoader and do some other stuff. I'm not sure if I can
    share the source code, as it was developed on company time and thus is
    owned by the company. Feel free to ask questions though.
    I haven't tried this solution very long (basically just unit tested it)
    but it looks promising.

  • Any problems using different versions of photoshop elements (7.0) and premiere elements (8.0)?

    I already own Photoshop Elements 7.0 and am now considering buying Premiere Elements 8.0. Does anyone know if I will have any version problems with this, especially with the Organizer? Do I need to upgrade PSE to 8.0 as well?

    1- A forum participant tested that slideshow workflow from Photoshop Elements 7 to Premiere Elements 8 and verified that it worked for him.
    2 - General Organizer use is probably an entirely different question.  I have not attempted that myself and don't know anyone who has. It seems doubtful that a specific catalog file could be shared between Premiere Elements 8 and Photoshop Elements 7.
