Running Visual Basic macro

Can I run a Visual Basic macro from Java? How do I do that?

If your macro can be invoked from the command line, then you should be able to run it by using Runtime.exec()

  • Visual Basic Macros

    Hi,
    I'm interested in created Visual Basic macros for my report. So i'm looking for samples/guides.
    I was reading through the "Desktop Intelligence Access and Analysis Guide" and have come to a point where it says:
    Programming in Visual Basic requires knowledge of the programming environment. This is covered in the Customizing Desktop Intelligence guide.
    Does anyone have any clue where I can find this document? i couldn't find it here:
    http://help.sap.com/
    Thanks, much would be appreciated!!

    (I had trouble logging in to my account so i had to create a new account.)
    Hi Sarbhjeet,
    Well, I followed your instructions. I went to the left panel, clicked on "Documentation" -> Product Guides/End-user Documentation
    and it lists the following documents:
    -Desktop Intelligence Access and Analysis Guide
    -Desktop Intelligence Developer Guide
    -Desktop Intelligence Access and Analysis Guide
    -Report Coversion Tool Guide
    -Developer Library
    -Desktop Intelligence: Data Access and Analysis
    -Desktop Intelligence: Reporting Techniques and Formatting
    But I'm looking for the "Customizing Desktop Intelligence Guide". I have a feeling that this document is obsolete. =(

  • How to call Visual basic MACRO code in ABAP

    Hi all,
    I created one MACRO in Microsoft office and now i want to call this macro in my ABAP program.
    How to do this can anyone provide me the logic for this....
    Regards.

    What Office application/document has the macro?  What the other poster was referring to is that you can open any type of Office document, E-mail editor, PDF document, simply by executing the filename or appropriate shell command.  By opening the Office document that has the embedded macro, you would trigger that macro to execute.  Is that what you need?
    Here is a simple example (with a hard-coded filename):
    CALL METHOD CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>EXECUTE
      EXPORTING
        DOCUMENT               = 'C:\temp\mydoc.doc'
      EXCEPTIONS
        CNTL_ERROR             = 1
        ERROR_NO_GUI           = 2
        BAD_PARAMETER          = 3
        FILE_NOT_FOUND         = 4
        PATH_NOT_FOUND         = 5
        FILE_EXTENSION_UNKNOWN = 6
        ERROR_EXECUTE_FAILED   = 7
        SYNCHRONOUS_FAILED     = 8
        NOT_SUPPORTED_BY_GUI   = 9
        OTHERS                 = 10.
    As I mentioned, this is also useful for triggering other applications, such as your resident e-mail editor, based on a click of an e-mail address in a GUI screen:
      CALL METHOD CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>EXECUTE
        EXPORTING
          DOCUMENT               = 'mailto:(put address here)'
        EXCEPTIONS
          CNTL_ERROR             = 1
          ERROR_NO_GUI           = 2
          BAD_PARAMETER          = 3
          FILE_NOT_FOUND         = 4
          PATH_NOT_FOUND         = 5
          FILE_EXTENSION_UNKNOWN = 6
          ERROR_EXECUTE_FAILED   = 7
          SYNCHRONOUS_FAILED     = 8
          NOT_SUPPORTED_BY_GUI   = 9

  • Oracle SQL/ Excel Visual Basic Consulting Opportunity in New York City

    Hello:
    Is anyone interested in a consulting opportunity?
    I am marketing director for a catalog/internet business in Manhattan. I am running Oracle 9.2i . We use the datawarehouse for many marketing/merchandising reports. I have SQL code embedded in Excel workbooks using an ODBC interface. The SQL code gets the data and then I have a lot of Visual Basic macros that run and create the reports.
    I need someone to come in and help me optimize the queries and macros (since I am self-taught on both SQL and VB there is LOTS of room for improvement).
    Since some of the reports are popular, I am getting overwhelmed with requests for new reports and it is taking time away from my marketing responsibilities.
    If anyone out there is interested, please let me know
    Thanks

    Hello:
    Is anyone interested in a consulting opportunity?
    I am marketing director for a catalog/internet
    business in Manhattan. I am running Oracle 9.2i .Sounds interesting, but as you can see in my profile, I'm not able to just "come in". Maybe someone else here wants to pick up this opportunity.
    We use the datawarehouse for many
    y marketing/merchandising reports. I have SQL code
    embedded in Excel workbooks using an ODBC interface.Reminds me of one of my customers that had a ms access frontend and oracle backend.
    The SQL code gets the data and then I have a lot of
    f Visual Basic macros that run and create the
    reports. Memories comin' back ... ;-)
    I need someone to come in and help me optimize the
    queries and macros (since I am self-taught on both
    SQL and VB there is LOTS of room for improvement). I'd say one approach could be to move some of the logic to views or pipelined functions, maybe ref cursors.
    Since some of the reports are popular, I am getting
    overwhelmed with requests for new reports and it is
    taking time away from my marketing responsibilities.Maybe it's also time to rethink the tool selection? ms access or a decent report generator could be an option.

  • Unable to load gpib-32.dll when running the visual basic 2008 program

    I installed NI-488.2 into my PC, window 7 64 bit OS.
    In the program >> project> add reference>.NET, I successfully add the NI.4882  into my visual basic  program.
    By the way, this program worked well in another window 7 32 bit PC.
    But when I run the program at ildev(BDINDEX,.........), error comes up as "unable load DLL gpib-32.dll".
    So when I looked at c:\windows\system32, I can not fine gpib-32.dll.
    Doesn't  NI-488.2 driver install gpib-32.dll?
    How can I install gpib-32.dll?

    SeongCho wrote:
    Nyc, thank you for your reply.
    By the way, I think I did all the link explained.
    So I have no problem in  adding  NI488.2 to my program's reference using "add reference".
    The problem is GPIB statement like ildev() looks for "gpib-32.dll".
    But there was no gpib-32.dll installed in "c:\windows\system32" so error comes up with "unable to load gpib-32.dll".
    I did the same procedure in my another PC(window 7 32 bit OS,my current PC is window 7 64 bit OS), and in that PC I can see the gpib-32.dll in that directory and program run without problem.
    I do not know how gpib-32.dll was installed in my previous PC.
    Thanks

    Have you looked at the example programs for .NET that install with NI-488.2?

    Hi,
    Is there a way to run a visual basic script from a director project?
    Thanks

    You can use Buddy API to run a vbs script file.
    ie.

    You could also try the inbuilt open command but I haven't tested it.

  • Run Java Applet (JAR) in Visual Basic

    Hi,
    I want to start a java applet within a visual basic form.
    One opportunity would be to implement a browser control and load a html file with the applet object in it.
    Is there a way to load the applet in VB without a browser control?
    Thanks for any tips & hints

    Oh, I'm aware of this way to start the applet.
    That's not what I want to achieve.
    I want to have the possiblity to integtrate my applet in a vb application (in a window in the vb app). For example if I would use MDI Forms I want the java applet to start as a child within the main vb window.
    I thought of using a browser OCX Control and loading a html which has the object tag with the java applet.
    Thanks anyway!

  • Microsoft Forms and Microsoft Visual Basic while opening the Excel file

    Hello,
    I have issues with 2010 64 bit Office Pro Plus Excel. Whenever I open an Excel file (97-2003 worksheet) which has macros then I get below 2 errors in sequence.
    Please note that all macro settings are enabled and below are my system configs.
    Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit,
    MS Office Pro Plus 2010 64 bit with SP2.
    Googled all and tried but in vein and also note that I dont have any .exd files under ../forms to delete. Please help.
    Please note that for others with same system config/office versions and same 97-2003 worksheet it works so issues is only in my system.
    First Error
    Microsoft Forms
    Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine.
    Second Error
    Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications
    Compile error in hidden module:  MainUtilities2.
    This error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with the version, platform, or architecture of this application.  Click "Help" for information on how to correct this error.
    Thanks.

    Your macro's will not run in a Office 64 environment only in a 32bit environment. The 64bit environment has a whole different setup and macro's created in an earlier 32 bit environment will stop working.
    So if you want to use them in a 64 Office environment you have to rewrite the macro's.

  • I get the error code -2146827284 when trying to run an Ecxel macro from LabVIEW.

    I am trying to insert data in an Excel workbook and then run a macro which I recorded in Excel to produce a plot.
    This worked great on a laptop running W2K + LV7 and Office 2000.
    I am now trying to do the same thing on a WinXP + LV7 + Excel 2002 and I get this error.
    The complete message is:

    Regards
    Sam Mathew

    Hi Sam,
    Very interesting that the Properties dialog has changed.  I have no experience with NW2004s.  I will answer your questions based on what I do have experience with; then, we will need to do some testing to check my assumptions.
    Your first question: does this subroutine already exists in a workbook, or do we have to manually type it in?  In the days before Excel 2002, the answer was "yes", the subroutine already exists.  Since Excel 2002, the answer is maybe.  More often than not, "no" ... and you have to type it in.
    But, whether it exists or not, you will find out when I answer yoru second question:  exactly where should I search for it?  Since you have written a macro, you already know about the Visual Basic Editor (VBE).  Since I am not sure how much you know about the VBE, I will explain it as if you know nothing.  Please do not be offended.
    As a general orientation to the Visual Basic Editor (VBE), there are 4 Windows you want to become familiar with:
    1.     the Project Explorer Window;
    2.     the Properties Window;
    3.     the Object Browser Window; and,
    4.     the Code Window.
    You should see the Project Explorer window on the left side of the VBE.  If it is not already visible, make it visible in one of 3 ways:
    i.     use the VBE menu bar and select View >> Project Explorer
    ii.     use shortcut keys Ctrl+R
    iii.     use the VBE Standard toolbar and select the icon for Project Explorer
    In the Project Explorer window you can all of the "Projects" (workbooks and add-ins), that are loaded.
    In the view of your workbook (the one with the macro) there are at least twol groups of "objects" shown:
    •     Microsoft Excel Objects (these are Worksheets and Workbooks)
    •     Modules (I call these "General Code Modules")
    There are two other possible types of objects:
    +  Forms
    +  Class Modules
    Visual Basic Code is always written in a Code Window.  There are 3 types of code windows:
    i.     Object Code Windows
    ii.     General Code Modules
    iii.     Class Modules
    When you use the Excel macro recorder, it always creates the macro in a General Code Module.  The subroutine SAPBEXonRefresh also will be in a General Code Module.
    To find it (if it exists), you can start in any code module in your workbook, press Ctrl+F, enter SAPBEXonRefresh, click the radio button to Search in Current Project.
    Now, to test my assumptions ... while you are in the Visual Basic Editor, with the Project Explorer Window open, please look under Microsoft Excel Objects and see if there is an object named "SAPBEXqueries".  If not, stop right there.  I cannot help you.
    If the SAPBEXqueries object is there, let me explain what it is.  This is a worksheet that is VERY hidden.  That means, it is hidden so that it cannot be made visible from Excel.  It can only be made visible from the VBE.  Let's do not now.
    Select the SAPBEXqueries object (double-click), then open the Properties window in the VBE.
    You can open the properties window using:
    +  View Properties Window
    +  press F4
    +  use the standard toolbar and click the Properties icon
    Look at the Visible property.  It should 2 - Very Hidden.  Change it to Visible.  Now switch back to the Excel view.  Look in cell F4.  What do you see in this cell?  It should be:  SAPBEXq0001, or something very similar to that.
    Now (still in Excel) open the GoTo dialog (Edit >> Go To; or, press F5).  This will list all of the Named Ranges in the workbook.  If you are on the SAPBEXqueries worksheet, the GoTo dialog should list a number of Named Ranges starting with SAPBEXq000,,,,,  Do you see this?
    I am very interested to learn what you see when you do these things.  And, I am very willing to answer any questions you have as a result of doing this testing.
    By the way, when you make the SAPBEXqueries worksheet hidden again, be careful.  As soon as you make it hidden (or very hidden), the selection in VBE will change to an object that is NOT hidden.  So, if you are not watching carefully, you might think that you are still on the SAPBEXqueries sheet and that you failed to hide it.  And, pretty soon, if you are not careful, you will have hidden every worksheet in the workbook!

    but when i start debugging (f5), i get this error message:
    mixed mode assembly is built against version 'v1.1.4322' of the runtime and cannot be loaded in the 4.0 runtime without additional configuration information
    i dont fully understand the visual studio process, but i think 'mixed mode' means run and debug. two seperate app's
    i know this is a long question, but the forums don't answer it properly
    i want it answered concisly. i am running windows 7 basic, and this is my question
    can somebody give me a dozen lines of directX code that will work with my system, so that i can at least draw a line using directX 2D and 3D ?
    thanks everybody :)

    Hi,
    Thank you for your post.
    I am afraid that the issue is out of support range of VS General Question forum which mainly discusses
    WPF & SL designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System
    and Visual Studio Editor.
    Since your issue is related to DirectX, I suggest you consult on DirectX forum:

  • How to edit a WFP application through a Visual Basic command console?

    Hi, I'm currently working on a little project of mine, based mostly on a Visual Basic command console, and I've had the idea to add a console-controlled Windows Form.
    What the console will eventually do is run, say, 1000 x 1000 [(1,1), (1,2), (1,3)... (574, 349), (574, 350)...] items through into a list, and then these million-or-so entries will use their assigned values as the x and y co-ordinates for
    the form, as well as little bits and bobs that will be added as I go along.
    Right now, the thing on my mind is this; How do I make, or access, or run, etc. a form, then load this code into it? I've been heading down some reference path with dependents and other stuff and I don't think it's going to carry me anywhere unless I ask
    the question directly.
    The main plan I have in mind is being to access the controls that a Windows Form has, using the VB console, e.g. Form1.Shape.AddRectangle (x,y) or something.
    If this is even possible, which I'm starting to doubt to my dismay, could you give me an absolute, and I mean that from top to bottom, every aspect fleshed out, preferably on the assumption that I don't even know what a file is, detailed walkthrough?
    Because I don't want to ask questions to the answers to my question.
    Thanks :)

    Items and bits and bobs doesn't have much meaning to me.
    If you want to create a Form from a Console app that is simple. Prior to launching the Form provide whatever you want to it I suppose.
    Whatever you attempt to provide to the form may need references added. Therefore you can research that on your own using the
    MSDN Library search engine which should keep anybody else from having to perform "top to bottom, every aspect fleshed out, preferably on the assumption that I don't even know what a file is, detailed walkthrough" since if you don't know
    anything you should be attempting to learn. And if anything is outside your scope of knowledge that you need to know to do whatever you want to do you should research and learn that. Not ask anybody else to do it for you or provide you baby step instructions
    for doing so.
    It's possible trying to provide 1000000 items and bits and bobs to a form will fail or your app may not have the memory allocated for doing that. And it's probably a poor idea too.
    Option Strict On
    Imports System.Windows.Forms
    Imports System.Drawing

    Sub Main()
    Dim f2 As New Form
    f2.Left = 10
    f2.Top = 10
    f2.Text = "Test Form"
    f2.Width = 241
    f2.Height = 271
    Dim PB As New PictureBox
    PB.Width = 225
    PB.Height = 225
    PB.Left = 0
