RV042 Limit speed all traffic except 1 Public IP
Hi Support team,
I would like to do Bandwidth Management in RV042 router.
I know that this router can limit speed by IPs and ports.
Can I limit speed all traffics except some public IPs?

If i try to get a large file from the server side of ACE, then a trace shows that the first and subsequent 1460Byte packets dont go through ACE
I've thought of parse lengths, but i cannot see any that seem to affect the generic L4 maps that I am trying to use

AlanI've seen a similar fault. I suppose a lower MSS was sent in the TCP SYN handshake packets (1300 or 1380?) and the packets exceeding that value were dropped by the ACE. This is the default behavior which can be switched to a less strict mode by either
exceed-mss allow
or
no normalization
commands.
In our case, a linux web server was whose replies wouldn't keep to the MSS limit. -

Cisco RV042 Firewall Blocking LAN Traffic
Hello Everyone,
I currently have an RV042G with a downstream SG-300 connected to one of the LAN interfaces. Connected to the SG-300 are a couple servers running ESXi. Intervlan routing is working fine on the current setup; however, I only able to connect to my ESXi hosts on a separate VLAN for approximately a minute before the connection is dropped. I have concluded that the firewall seems to be culprit in blocking my traffic. If I turn the firewall off, everything acts as expected. There is a default "ANY/ANY" rule for LAN traffic enabled and I have added a couple extras allowing all traffic for IP ranges, but I still seem to be losing my connections. To make matters more confusing, I can see ACCESS_RULE events in the firewall logs permitting the traffic (or so I'm interpretting).
Regardless, here's how my rules currently stand below. I put another ANY/ANY rule in because the default didn't seem to be working -- I immediately was able to ping other hosts on different VLANs after adding the rule. I was under the assumption allowing all traffic from any source to any destination would make the LAN pretty accessible. I would appreciate any guidance or resources on this topic to set up some quick firewall rules to get things up and running. Thanks in advance.

Just to reiterate the problem, I am able to connect to hosts on VLAN 2 from my computer on VLAN 1, but I am disconnected a minute or so later. When the firewall is disabled, I have no issues with connecting to the host across VLANs and maintaining that connection. Maybe I have a misconfiguration somewhere that is causing some issues? I appreciate the help. -

NO, there is no such settings on your Router, which will control your computer speed, Router will distribute the same speed on all the computers. May be you can search for some software we does that.

Strange JButton appearance for all LAFs except Windows
It took me a while to figure out how to repeat this problem, but I finally did. I have a simple BoxLayout container in a JFrame, and with Windows Look and Feel it looks as expected. With any other LAF on my system (Metal, Windows Classic, CDE/Motif) all buttons except one are displayed as if their insets are null. The button border is confined very close to the button text. Calling setSize() on the button doesn't make any difference.
What makes it strange is that I can't see why one button is displayed properly. And even stranger is the fact that it's not the button position that determines which one looks correct. Take a look at the test code below, which is a stripped down executable extract of my program. The JButton object "settings" is always displayed correctly, even If you re-arrange the arguments to the cbButtonPanel.add() methods so that "settings" is in a different position. I can't see anything different about how settings is defined or configured compared to the other buttons. I even gave them the same button text to eliminate that as the source of the difference.
If you run the test code with no program argument, it will default to Windows Look and Feel, and the buttons will look as I intended them to. But enter a LAF name for the argument (See the names provided on the console when you run the program) other than Windows and you'll see that all but one button are not displayed properly. (Note that for any multi-word LAF name, e.g. Windows Classic, you need to enclose the argument in quotes.)
The code seems to be a straightforward implementation of a BoxLayout managed container, as documented in the javadocs and the tutorial. Am I doing something wrong that Windows LAF lets me get away with?

This was left over from when I originally used a null layout manager, and the setBounds() calls were making the buttons appear at their desired size. The clue came when I discovered that I was setting the border on all buttons except settings, the one that was behaving properly. Why it behaved as expected with Windows LAF I have no idea.

How to modify it (or create a new one from scratch) to unmount all disks (except the booting one, of course), whatever their names and number?
Better if the script does not issue any confirmation or warning of any kind, but works in the background without any feedback to the user.
That is great to automatically unmount ALL disks (except the booting one) after rebooting or booting, saving energy, heat, noise and speeding up the Mac performance (eg., when selecting save as, etc, since such unused disks do not show), extending the life of the unused disks.
Of course, any disk can be later on manually mounted using the Disk Utility at any time, if required.

No internet access when "Send All Traffic" VPN Checked
Hi Ladies and Gents
Wonder if you can help me. These past few days I have been setting up a VPN on my DD-WRT enabled router. I have successfully accomplished such task, however when I'm connected to the VPN on my phone my public IP address does not change, after doing some reading I believe that is because "Send All Traffic" is unchecked in the VPN profile, but when I check "Send All Traffic" I get no internet access what so ever.
Any advice/input/solution to this would be greatly appreciated.

One other item I thought I would pass along...
I noticed that the NVG589 gets terribly confused if a device behind it isn't setup properly first to be a static address.
Here's the behavior: Say you have a router of your own and you intend to give it one of the addresses from your static IP block. You decide to set it up first and don't make the changes initially in the 589 to force it to be a static IP of some kind-- whether in the private or the public block. You configure the router in this case with DHCP. Your router starts handing out addresses in its own IP range however your configured it.
But look what the 589 thinks is happening: it sees the DHCP client name associated with the same MAC address changing constantly. It makes entries for each different client name in its device list, sometimes aging out, sometimes not.
Now trying to save the private IP will result in a "missing data" error. Worse, trying to change things to a public static IP will result in similar messages about the IP being in the wrong range.
The same issue can also occur if the device was setup statically in the private range and you try to change it to a public static IP.
The only way to fix this:
1) If you intend to advertise the router on an IP from your static block, disconnect all devices from the router and the RG, except for the router you want to setup. Wait for the RG to see them as "offline" in the device list. Alternatively, if you intend to setup another device or server on a Static IP, make sure it is the only device connected to the RG.
2) Switch the IP allocation to "Public"
3) Renew the lease on the device
4) Go into the IP Allocation page and fix the IP to one of the public static IPs from your pool
5) Reconnect all devices.
Generally, the best practice is to setup each static IP device before connecting any others to the RG. -
Dmvpn - all traffic via tunnel ?
Q: I have a dmvpn to a spoke connected via dsl.
presently I have route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 via pppoe (dslam) This allows me to find the home end of the tunnel and bring the tunnel up.
How do I tell the spoke router to route all traffic via the tunnel?
I have eigrp up at the spoke and have advertised 20 or so networks, but i need to provide internet access via this tunnel.

IMac Fans running at maximum speed all the time
Hi Appleians!
I have an iMac 20inch with 8GB RAM and its an i3 intel processor. I purchased it from a friend of mine who had replaced the original hard drive with another that amounts to a terabyte. Now the fans are running at full speed all the time making it way too noisy to work with. It however works smoothly with no problems except the fans are irritating, it does not heat up though. Anyone with a solution? I tried resseting the SMC it didnt work.
`Oh and the computer is running on Mavericks.

I have been trying to get my computer (os x.7) to astablish a remote desktop connection to my work computer via a vpn tunnel. In fact I have just discovered that it works fine if i select to "send all traffic over vpn connection" from the options in the advanced setup of the vpn.
If the option is selected microsofts "Remote desktop connection for mac" works just fine. However without selecting the option it is not taking advantage of the tunnel but tries to connect as if the tunnel would not exist.
Now the question is how do I get program to use the vpn tunnel without checking the above option?

Absolutely. You can authorize any given computer to up to five iTunes Store accounts.

If you connect your iPod to her computer, yes. Tracks download only to the computer from which they're purchased, regardless of which iTunes Store account is used for the purchase. Or you could copy the tracks from her computer to yours and then authorize your computer to her iTunes Store account. But that's sort of defeating the original purpose, it would seem to me.
is it better to buy music through Amazon downloads and/or actually purchasing CDs to avoid the security features iTunes puts on its music?
That's certainly an option. If it's an entire album I want, I buy CDs. That way I can import them at the quality I want and to whichever of my systems I want. Amazon or one of the other download stores that offer tracks as MP3 are also an option, though for me download stores are best when you just want a couple of tracks off a given CD. -
