Does the dialog show "You can read and write" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
What is the Modified date?

Clarification:
I believe now you potentially lose all extensions, plug-ins when you use the new reset function, but you will let me know.
If that is the case, your find corrupt file method maybe better. However, I reviewed the two help articles and there appear to be more files than just the delete search.json file and a possible search.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder. I am confused. Then I have to find the folders. I think help articles mentioned how to find the profile containing the files, but not sure.

WHY CAN I NOT EDIT THE DEFAULT SEARCH ENGINE USED BY THE ADDRESS BAR (NOT THE SEARCH BAR NEXT TO IT) FROM BING TO GOOGLE?

I am asking this question again, because upon checking the forum for a solution I was shocked and appalled by the severe lack of grammar, punctuation and spelling I encountered while reading answers to this question. Obviously several people where to busy to actually read the question being asked and simply answered with instructions on how to change the default search engine for the search bar. SO, here I am asking the same question, why? because it still has not been answered and I myself still CANNOT find this setting anywhere. I use multiple browsers for different tasks, Chrome is KICKING the .... out of you guys Mozilla, why did you ever let your self get taken in by Micro-crack (Microsoft), if I recall correctly the inception of this program was partly motivated by the need for an alternative to the idiosyncrasies and vulnerability of Microsoft Internet Explore. This really feels like a HUGE step backwards, I would love to see a return to the days when Mozilla Firefox was and inspiration to developers and techs everywhere. And please will someone just answer the right question this time. Trust me when I say it will be obvious who does and does not read this in it's entirety.

Current Firefox versions use the default search engine (pref: browser.search.defaultenginename) to set the search engine that is used on the about:home page.
You can modify the <b>browser.search.defaultenginename</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page and set it to one of the other installed search engines.
Select this search engine in Manage Search Engines and copy the value of the browser.search.selectedEngine pref to browser.search.defaultenginename.

Why does iTunes delete my library every time I turn my computer on? All my music is still on my computer but when I open iTunes it comes up with the scan media page. I have to redo my playlists and it takes forever. Can someone help??

Every time I turn my computer on and open iTunes all my music is gone, if comes up with the scan media page, all my playlists have been deleted. All my music is still on the computer and in the files. I don't know why it keeps doing this, it's really annoying as I have loads of music and then have to do my playlists again just to sync my phone. Can someone please help??

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be copied and renamed asiTunes Library.itl to restore the library to an earlier state. Look for a recent .tmp file that is similar in size to the .itl files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. If it has happened repeatedly you may want the earliest such file generated since the last iTunes upgrade.
If applicable, see iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. Even if you have the media you can use selected steps from the tip to ensure that you don't lose settings and data from the device as a result of switching libraries.
A large number of users with this issue have been using AVG Anti-Virus which appears to be implicated in the problem. AVG have released a patch which might help, so if you use AVG then I would update that first. I'd also be interested to know which AV you use in case others may cause similar issues. I recommend excluding the iTunes folder from any real-time and scheduled AV scanning process. Another possible cause could be automatic backup tools.

1. GO TO THE TOOL BAR WHERE IT SAYS SAFARI AND CLICK TO BRING DOWN THE MENU OF OPTIONS, CLICK ON PREFERENCES
2.INSTEAD OF JUST CLICKING ON THE GENERAL TAB AND CHANGING THE SEARCH ENGINE LIKE EVERY OTHER STUPID SUPPORT TELLS YOU TO DO LOOK AT THE TAB THAT SAYS EXTENSIONS.
3. Chances are you downloaded something that was made by a third party to "enhance" your web experience but really they just screwed you over, YOU CAN CHOOSE TO SIMPLY UNINSTALL ANY EXTENSIONS PUT ON YOUR COMPUTER BY CLICKING INSTALL, BUT TO BE SURE THAT THIS IS THE ROOT OF YOUR PROBLEM IN THE SECOND COLUMN SIMPLY CLICK ON THE UNDERLINED NAME OF WHO THE EXTENSION IS MADE BY IF CLICKING THE LINK BRINGS UP A YAHOO PAGE THIS IS THE SOURCE OF YOUR ISSUES AND SIMPLY UNINSTALLING THIS WILL RID YOU OF THIS DUMB PROBLEM!!

If the reset doesn't do it then it's possible that the backlight or another part of your screen has broken. Unfortunately it's not really user servicible. I'd make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out. If your device is still under warranty and they don't determine that the damage was the result of 'abuse or neglect' (their words) then it could be a free replacement.
I'd just do a backup before you take it in, just in case.

When your account becomes disabled, Apple provides the following recommendation:
"This message means that someone tried and failed to sign in to your account multiple times. The Apple ID system disables the account to prevent unauthorized people from gaining access to your information. You need to reset your password, following the instructions at the Apple ID website".
Visit iForgot.com and follow the instructions there.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

My environment is 99% of the way there, but my ARR reverse proxy doesnt seem to be forwarding lyncdiscover properly. Can someone help?

I recently cut over from lync 2010 with an apache reverse proxy to a lync2013 deployment using microsoft ARR as the reverse proxy.
Last night i cut over to the new ARR reverse proxy but our lync 2013 mobility tests didnt go well. I also cant get the DIALIN.CONTOSO.COM page to show up externally. Only the https://MEET.CONTOSTO.COM site shows up properly from an external browser. I have
a feeling that the lync ARR server is only handling meet.contoso.com for some reason, although i followed the LYNC setup guides exactly. Please see the screenshots of my setup. Does anyone have an idea of why everything might be taken over by the MEET.CONTOSO.COM

When I fire up the lync mobility app, the MEET.CONTOSO.COM server farm in ARR receives the hits. (and failures)

Hello All,
I had a professional service with Microsoft to fix the many issues with my Lync environment. It turns out that there were 2 major causes of the problem i was having. For one, I DID have the wrong cert set on the lync2013 FE server's external web interface.
I didn't realize this because there seems to be some sort of bug in the LYNC SERVER 2013 DEPLOYMENT WIZARD.
First, it is badly designed. There is actually a drop down that i didnt realize was a dropdown when deploying my environment that expands and shows the external web services certificate.
After I found that, i tried updating it to my godaddy cert but it left a BLANK in the deployment wizard. So i had to go into the IIS management console to update the bindings.
Once the FE server's external website certificate was installed properly, we moved on the the reverse proxy. We scrapped ALL of the ARR servers and rewrite rules and started from scratch. Instead of creating 4 server farms and using lync.contoso.com, meet.contoso.com
etc... we created one server farm that points at the IP ADDRESS of the lync front end server. We changed the PATTERN to (.*) using regular expressions and the HTTP_HOST rule to (lync.contoso.com|lyncdiscover.contoso.com|meet.contoso.com|dialin.contoso.com)
After this, we still had a problem with lync mobility for android 2013.
Our public DNS has a record *.contoso.com to capture all traffic and route it to our website. This was capturing lyncdiscoverinternal.contoso.com and the android devices were getting a certificate error. We now have lyncdiscoverinternal.contoso.com pointed
to the reverse proxy's external IP address to resolve that issue. The android lync mobility client also checks for an exchange record which isn't documented http://contoso.com/ews because of an autodiscover record, so our android clients still get a certificate
error once during the initial setup of the application. Our IOS devices don't show this error so we called the issue resolved.
