Sample applet color picker

I am looking for an applet code for color picker (chooser). I'd like to have a color spectrum bar and a brightness/saturation square. Thanks.

But for what you specified, here's an idea.
Make a loop that will run through the pixels of a JPanel which has an area of 100x100 px, which sets the color appropriately to the instance of a Color class, with a specified RBG code.
Then, set the mouse event listener to figure out where you clicked, and set the current color to what is there.
Also, on the right, you could include three bars to adjust the red, blue, and green to their own levels using a javax.swing.JSlider.
To make it obvious which color you specified, make the pixels around it highlighted in black.
Oh yes, it may be easier if you originally made the loop that will draw the image, then used Shift>PrintScrn to copy the image into a file, then later set the image through setIcon() to contain that.
You may also want a "sample" color bar.

  • Gradient Color Picker

    Dear Community,
i have a Problem with Illustrator CS6. I've attached an image below.
I have an object with gradient fill and i've selected the first color stop.
In previous Versions of AI i could the pick any color with color Picker while holding the shift-key.
In CS6 this changes the color only in the Gradient Panel but not the Object itself:
I have to admit that i'm glad not to be a creative cloud user so i'm able to switch between Ai cs 5.1 and 6
because both have some features missing in the other version.
    My best,
    Herr K. aus Berlin

    Re: Gradient Color Picker
    created by Mike Gondek
This still works for me in CS6 mac, but more importantly try not to use Shift eyedropper. The topic has been discussed here many times. Shift eyedropper is not accurate and samples the screen values, not the actual color.
Try using global swatches more often. Try this instead
    select a gradient stop
    Alt click on a swatch
If the swatch is set to global, you can easily change/adjust/merge colors later with one command on a global document level.
Thanks for the advice. I never had problems with shift-click picker i sample colors from other objects and even if they have Spot colors assigned it works, at least in CS5. I've tried in CS6 it's just not working. I've been told that there has been many discussions and i've read some. I'll stick to CS5. I'm very disapointed with adobe. This is a known bug it has been reworked on Mac Versions but not on PC.

  • Book Module Lightroom 4 -- can I use a color picker to pick a color from a photo to use as the backg

I am trying to match a background color for a page in a Blurb book using the Lightroom 4 Book Module.  Is there any way I can use the color picker to pick a color from the photo to use as the color for the background and as the type color?  I see the color box for these situations, but the color picker only seems to work with the color array that pops up and doesn't go to the photo.  Any suggestions?  Am I overlooking something very obvious?

    It works for me.
The usual Lightroom way: click the eyedropper onto the color palette first, then hold and drag to your photo to sample color.

  • Eye Dropper Tool (Color Picker Tool) not working correctly - Premiere CC - Windows 8 - Multiple Displays

I'm running Windows 8, Premiere CC 2014 with two monitors. The eye dropper tool (color picker tool) isn't working correctly. It is selecting colors that are not the colors being hovered over. I've reasearched and see solutions to the problem when occurring with Mac, but do not see a solution for Windows. When I disconnect the second monitor, the eye dropper tool works correctly (as described by Mac users). I deleted any profiles for the montors that weren't the same, and still having the issue. I've also tried putting the source monitor on the second monitor, and tried sampling color from there... same result.

    Hello All,
Problem solved...I reset all tools in the Tool Preset window. Seems to be working.
    Hope this helps someone...
    Cheers!

  • Color Picker in Flash CS6 Changing My Picked Color

    Program: Flash CS6
    OS: Mountain Lion
    Hardware: Intel MacBook Pro 2012
    Steps to recreate issue:
    1. Paint a color on the stage (brown seems to have the most dramatic results)
    2. Use the color picker to sample the (brown) color from the stage
    3. Use the paint bucket to apply the selected color to the stage
Result: the color painted from the sample color is not the color that has been originally sampled.
If you then sample the new color you have just applied, it again changes the color. Repeating this process over and over again eventually turns the color into the brightest red on the color palette.
Is anyone else have this issue or know how to correct it?
UPDATED: Attached is a link to the video of the issue in progress. For whatever reason my cursor doesnt show up correctly in the video, but what I am doing is using the color picker to sample the color and then painting the sampled color. As you can see from the video, the color becomes more and more red until it maxs out, even though I am just sampling the same color over and over again. The color on the left is the control color (the one that I originally sample) and the color on the right illustrates the bug.
    video link:
    http://vid.ly/5x8u6d

I'm updating this thread mainly because it's the only thread I could find that describes my exact issue. I am having this problem. When I select a color using the color picker, it settles on a different, lighter color. THIS HAPPENS EVEN WHEN I ENTER THE HEX CODE VALUE. It's like Flash is auto-correcting a problem that doesn't exist. Help? This is becoming a serious problem for me!
Also Flash CS6, Mac OS X (10.8.2). The monitor I'm using shouldn't be relevant; Flash is literally changing the hex code value after I type it in or select it.
EDIT: Just did some research, found out that Flash isn't 10.8 compatible. When is that going to be fixed?

  • Color picker crashes in DW 5.5 Mac OS 10.7?

Using eyedropper in color picker in CSS Styles panel or CSS rule dialog box in order to sample color in design view outside of immediate color swatch causes crashes in Dreamweaver 5.5 with Mac OS 10.7 Lion.

    Hello All,
The issue is caused due to a depricated API "CGDisplayAddressForPosition" on Mac 10.7.
This has been fixed and the the patch is under internal testing.
We would like to get this patch validated with the community users also. You can contact me at yprasad_at_adobe_dot_com for more details.

  • Color picker problem?

ok when i go to comp>layer>soild and i click eyedropper the box where i want to pick my color dont pop up it wants me to pick a color off my computer -_- how can i change that?

That's the way the eye-dropper works. If you want to use the color picker click on the color sample right next to it.
Sounds like you need to start with the Basics.

  • Color picker in iOS 8 app built against AIR 16 not showing up correctly

I am using Flash CS6 to publish a coloring book app for Android and iOS. As of AIR SDK 15, the ColorPicker no longer shows up correctly in iOS, though the code continues to work correctly on Android. I have tried both AIR 15 and 16, and neither works correctly on iOS (only tested against iOS 8).
The color picker from iOS8, AIR SDK 14 (as it should appear):
The color picker from iOS 8, AIR SDK 16 (with black boxes covering each sample):
Functionally they both work and there was no change to the code between the two builds. Anyone experience a similar issue or have ideas on navigating around it?
Oh, here is the code I use to generate the colorpicker, in case it is useful:
    //Color picker colorPicker = new ColorPicker();
    colorPicker.setStyle("swatchWidth", swatchWidth);

I have exactly the same problem in one of my apps - it worked perfectly well when published with air 14 but I am getting the black squares when published with air 15 or 16.
Anyone know how to get around this or whether there is a solution to the issue?

  • Color Picker for Web

I often do website images for developers. The problem i am having is matching the web color from a color pick in ps. I have used a method where s i take a screen shot on my MAC and then pull that into PS cs5 (I have cs6 also) and pick. Then i export for web (png or jpeg).
This method gets me inconsistent results. Is there a better way or  a small utility for this?

I have Ps set up correctly as i tweaked settings the last time i had a color problem. My screen shots are LZ77 which i think carries SRGB. I have a custom calabration for my LED monitor. This adjustment was for yellow. done by a a friend with an xrite.
I do not think it is about the screen so much as how the color is being read. if i am seeing a certain purple on the web. my screen may softly tint it but its tinting everything on the screen and its effects would be universal.
its how how i am sampling i believe to be the issue.
Ps. i am set up to see what the color type is and i have the choice to convert.

  • What is wrong with my color picker?

I Have Photoshop CS5 and am working with a file that is about 40"x40" with 200 res.
My color picker when i opened it today looked like this:
it's totally different and it's only when i am in this file. I was trying to use the eyedropper tool to bring a color over from a much smaller file (where the color picker looked nothing like this) and when i went back to the main window i was working on, the color shifted pretty prominently and i was unable to change it. I compared the "H ,S, B, R, G, B, L, a, b, C, M, Y, K" values in both screens and the left column was accurate, but the right column was different.
is there an easy way to fix this?? Thanks so much!!!
    PS:
    It Normally looks like this:

The color is coming from what is set as your foreground swatch. Not sure besides that what problem you are expereinceing as everything looks normal.
Confirm your target & destination color space are the same -  you can see CMYK  at the top right of the screenshot below.
switch to the eyedropper, and click to sample a color with these settings, your foreground swatch will be set to your color
Switch to your destination document, you can nowswitch to any selection tool, make a slection  and fill with the foreground color

  • Color Picker with Pantone conversion

In Photoshop you can sample an area with the eyedropper, click on the swatch in Color Picker and have it give you the PMS equivalent from the "book" list. I would love the same feature in Illustrator.
It makes more sense to have the spot color conversion capability in the the program designed for spot color use.
    Thanks!

    CS3
Art containing two non-global process colors has been selected, and the Live Color dialog opened:
Below, the Pantone solid coated library has been selected from the Limit to Library popup menu, which causes an immediate lookup of the closest matching color in the library to
every color in the selected art
(notice that the brown is a tiny bit redder and the green a little yellower, showing you that the replacements have happened):
The sliders above have also been switched to Tint and a new color group was created by clicking on the little folder with the + sign above the color group list. These two steps are not necessary, I just wanted to show that they were possible. Also it was the best way to display the names of both Pantone colors.
If all you want to do is recolor your document with the same number of Pantone colors that your design uses distinct mixed colors, you're done!
All the rest of this post is just showing more variations of what you can do, especially reducing the number of spot colors used when the original document has more color variation than you want.
Here I have switched to the metallic library:
If the selected art had contained more original colors than desired number of spot colors, then you can enter the number of desired spot colors to reduce to, and it will pick the best color set of that size from the chosen library to "posterize" to, as shown below:
    After reduction to two colors:
    After limiting to ANPA library:
Next I've switched to the Color Wheel view, and rotated the color markers to a different position. When limiting to a library, the entire color wheel is drawn using only the colors in that library, so that you can easily navigate to nearby colors:
Swatches from Color Books and other libraries can be accessed in the Color Picker, but only when it is opened from within the Live Color dialog (by double-clicking on any color well) while limiting to that library. This gives you another method of picking a different color if you don't like the default match.
There is not yet any ability to switch libraries while the Color Picker is open, but we hope to enable that in CS4.

  • Photoshop CS5 colorpicker sampling lighter color

When I try to edit the color of a shape layer by opening the color dialogue box of the shape layer, the color that is picked up is a lighter color than the color I clicked on.
The eyedropper is set to point sample and all layers.  This problem does not occur if I open the color dialogue box that is part of the toolbar.

A screenshot showing everything at the moment just after you sample the color would be good as well.
Keep in mind that adjustment layers above the layer will affect how it looks on the screen, but when you're editing the color of the layer itself it's going to show you the actual color of the layer.

  • Drawbacks to the new CS6 Color Picker?

What do people think about the new color picker in Fireworks CS6?
I like the new larger swatches and default palette: a revised "Color Cubes" layout that includes non-web-safe colors and a selection of warm and cool greys/neutrals. I also like the option to view and enter RGB values and to specify transparency (for fill and stroke separately)
However, one thing I'm missing is the option to change the swatches from within the color picker itself. Previously, it was possible to choose from a standard set of color swatch layouts or the Swatches palette itself, via a small fly-out menu.
Now, that option is gone. The color picker simply picks up whatever palette is currently loaded into Swatches (except for masks, which still draw from a separate greyscale palette). To load a new palette into the color picker, you need to change the contents of the Swatches palette itself. This means a little less freedom for the user.
For example, if you've added a few custom swatches into your Swatches palette, but then decide you'd like to switch the color picker layout, you'll lose those custom swatches—unless you go through the extra step of saving them as a palette. Frankly, in Fireworks, I don't even know how to quickly delete a large number of swatches in order to save a custom palette like this. (The only option I'm aware of is to Command-click, which deletes a single swatch at a time; this requires a lot of patience.)
Another aspect that concerns me is the contextual nature of the Fill color picker. Accessed from the toolbar, a complete a set of fill options are offered, which is very convenient; you can quickly choose between No Fill, Solid Fill, Gradient Fill and Pattern Fill. But this is not the case when you access the Fill color picker from within the Properties Inspector. In particular, the No Fill option is missing, whereas this used to be the place to make this change. Users who to try to set the Fill to None here may wind up inadvertently sampling colors when they try to click on the No Fill option below, while the color picker is still open.
Thinking about it, there's plenty of room here; I think the No Fill option should be added back in to the color picker within the Properties Inspector—much as it's already included for Stroke.
Finally, I'm not saying that I used it a lot (I didn't), but I always liked having the Web Dither fill option; it's definitely a unique, textured look that's not commonly available in other applications. It's gone now.
The thing is, there's room for it. So why take away a feature like this?

    Hi All:
Apologies for the cross-post, but I felt it important it add my message in this thread as well.
Just a note regarding the wishform. Your detailed input on that form is important and I really appreicate you taking the time to help make Fireworks a better product. So thank you for filing these bugs/concerns.
Keep in mind that even though one person may have indicated they filed the bug, you should also file your own bug on the issue if you are experiencing problems. This reporting makes the engineers aware of how prevalent the issue is and helps to prioritize which bugs get addressed first. Yes, I know, in an ideal world, they'd ALL be marked as high priority, but that's seldom the case with anything. Squeeky wheel gets the grease, etc...
While filing the bug doesn't necessarily mean you will personally hear from the engineering team, this doesn't diminish the importance of using the wishlist/bug reort form. This is a quote from the form itself:
    >>We normally do not send personal replies to feature requests or bug reports. We do, however, read each and every message. We use the information to improve our products and services. Your comments, suggestions, and ideas for improvements are very important to us. We appreciate you taking the time to send us this information.<<
That said, I'm making an effort to bring these threads to the attention of the FW team, and if I hear anything myself, I'll be sure to let you know.
