SAP HANA BETWEEN DATE

Hi,
May I know what's the best way to select between date? I just want to ask If this is the right way to search between dates using date formate 'mm/dd/yyy'.
This is my query,
SELECT TO_CHAR("PmntDate",'mm/dd/yyyy') FROM "OCHO" WHERE TO_CHAR("PmntDate",'mm/dd/yyyy') BETWEEN '04/27/2015' AND '04/27/2015';
BTW, the datatype of field is TIMESTAMP
Thanks

Either you convero t the date to YYYYMMDD format and then apply the BETWEEN clause or do as below
select PERNR from PA0001
  where
  CURRENT_DATE between to_date(BEGDA) and to_date(ENDDA);
--where BEGDA and ENDDA in YYYYMMDD format

  • SAP HANA Performance Optimization

    Hi Experts.
Is there any documentation out there that relates to optimizing SAP HANA components such as optimizing the SAP Hana models, data loading using SAP LT, etc. I would like to fine-tune what I have already built.
    Thanks,

    Email: [email protected]

    Hello Thatoyame,
since HANA is pretty fast in so many cases, there isn't much available about general performance tuning. In cases where performance isn't great, a detailed root cause analysis (i.e. trace) is the way to go. See SAP HANA Appliance Software – SAP Help Portal Page (Admin section) for some details on tracing.
For data modeling, check Werner Steyn's webinar at Building Advanced Data Models with SAP HANA - Webinar Details.

  • Transporting Data models in SAP HANA

    Hi All,
I was trying to understand how data models can be transported in SAP HANA and came across the different options in the Export option of hana Studio like exporting with Delivery unit, Developer mode, etc.. Can someone please elaborate on the differences between each and the scenrio when each should be used?
    Thanks,
    Sam

No Justin, haven't used in any "production" environments till now since the client am working for is still to be upgraded to SP7. At internal system we are doing some R&D in those lines and developing artifacts from "Development" perspective.
Here i shared this link for reference itself.
Also i think using Development perspective for modelling is what is being suggested going forward in blogs like this

May be John Appleby and his team are already using "Development" perspective consistently

  • Open HUB ( SAP BW ) to SAP HANA through DB Connection data loading , Delete data from table option is not working Please help any one from this forum

    Issue:
I have SAP BW system and SAP HANA System
SAP BW to SAP HANA connecting through a DB Connection (named HANA)
Whenever I created any Open Hub as Destination like DB Table with the help of DB Connection, table will be created at HANA Schema level ( L_F50800_D )
Executed the Open Hub service without checking DELETING Data from table option
Data loaded with 16 Records from BW to HANA same
Second time again executed from BW to HANA now 32 records came ( it is going to append )
Executed the Open Hub service with checking DELETING Data from table option
Now am getting short Dump DBIF_RSQL_TABLE_KNOWN getting
If checking in SAP BW system tio SAP BW system it is working fine ..
will this option supports through DB Connection or not ?
Please follow the attachemnet along with this discussion and help me to resolve how ?

    Hi Ramanjaneyulu ,
First of all thanks for the reply ,
Here the issue is At OH level ( Definition Level - DESTINATION TAB and FIELD DEFINITION )
in that there is check box i have selected already that is what my issue even though selected also
not performing the deletion from target level .
SAP BW - to SAP HANA via DBC connection
    1. first time from BW suppose 16 records - Dtp Executed -loaded up to HANA - 16 same
    2. second time again executed from BW - now hana side appaended means 16+16 = 32
    3. so that i used to select the check box at OH level like Deleting data from table
    4. Now excuted the DTP it throws an Short Dump - DBIF_RSQL_TABLE_KNOWN
Now please tell me how to resolve this ? will this option is applicable for HANA mean to say like , deleting data from table option ...

  • SAP HANA as a data source for Analysis Services

I tried to use SAP's .net provider for HANA as a data source for an Analysis Services cube but to no avail.   I can connect, create a named query and preview data from the data source view designer but when SSAS actually tries to run the query,
it wraps the named query in another query and produces a syntax error.
For example,  if the named query is "select * from ENTHANA.MARA",
SSAS sends a query like this "SELECT [test].* FROM (select * from ENTHANA.MARA) AS [test]"   (Test is the name of the named query).
I know SSAS wraps queries and that's fine - except that brackets are not a valid way to quote an identifier in HANA.  HANA uses double quotes like Oracle.
Is there any setting in SSAS that can affect this behavior?   Will HANA ever be a fully supported data source for SSAS?  If so, when?

    Hi David,
According to your description, you are creating a SQL Server Analysis Services project, now what you want is using SAP HANA as the data source, right?
SSAS support many type of data source. However, as you can see on the link below, SAP HANA data source was not listed on that link. So this type of data source is not supported in current version of SSAS. Microsoft will update that document when it is supported.

    Thank you for your understanding.

  • Connectivity between SSRS and SAP HANA

    Hi all
We currently use SSRS as our main Reporting tool, the company is considering to implement SAP HANA, is it possible to connect SQL Server Reporting Services to SAP HAHA? And what if any are the draw backs?
    Thanks
    Ruan

    Hi ruancra,
According to your description, you want to connect SSRS to SAP HANA. Right?
In Reporting Services, it just works on helping us create, deploy, and manage reports. We can only connect to a data source to retrieve data. It is not supported connecting to another report tool. Also we are not sure if reports
created by SSRS (.rdl/.rdlc files)can be opened in SAP HANA. For more information about SAP HANA, please visit the SAP HANA official site:

  • How to - Extract data from Cloud For Customer into SAP HANA system

    Hello Community,
I have a requirement for extracting the existing data from Cloud for Customer into separate SAP HANA Box.
Is it possible to achieve the same ? If yes, Please guide me for the same.
    Awaiting quick response.
    Regards
    Kumar

    Hi Kumar,
In addition to what Thierry mentioned you could also use the C4C integration via standard Operational Data Provisioning (ODP) interfaces. This integration was acutally built for SAP BW and allows you to access any C4C data sources. From my perspective you can also build upon that for a native SAP HANA integration. Please also have a look at this guide: How To... load SAP Business Suite data into SAP... | SAP HANA.
Besides that question let me also add the following: SAP Cloud for Customer already runs on SAP HANA since Nov. 2013. You may also use the powerful built-in analytics within C4C for analyzing data and any of your reporting demands. If your report should consider external data as well, you can combined the existing C4C data source with an external, so-called Cloud Data Source. More infomation is published in the C4C Analytics Guide: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sapcloudforcustomer/en/PDF/EN-3.pdf.
    I hope this helps...

  • CompositeProvider Data Preview "Error in the BWA/SAP HANA Server"

    Hello Experts,
We have created CompositeProvider in HANA Studio. When we are trying to preview the data in CompositeProvider, we get the below error message.
Error 34.021 has occurred in the BWA/SAP HANA server

We are now in BW on HANA 7.4 SP8 and facing issues with the Reports based on this CompositeProvider. The CompositeProvider is already in active status and the system check was successful.
We have identified SAP Note : 2019244 for this issue but this is not relevant for our system configuration.
Please let me know if anyone has encountered this issue.
    Thanks in advance !

    Pradeep.

    Hello Pradeep Kundeti,
Please raise an Support ticket with SAP asap, so that you can save some time.
If its a new error, SAP might take some time to rectify it. So it's better to keep them informed.
Let the experts come up with their suggestions....
PS: Yours is a comparatively newer system and there are possibilities that new errors might come in...

  • Can't Upload Sample Data to SAP HANA Sandbox-Can't Navigate to SQL Editor

    Hi HANA Freaks,
I want to load sample data E2EModelingTutorialData into SAP HANA Sandbox but the following steps are required.
To load the data to your SAP In-Memory Database do the following:
    - Copy the files to your database server.
    - Copy all SQL statements in the file SQLStatements.txt in an SQL view of your In-Memory Computing Studio
    - Modify the load statement according to your file location, e.g.
      LOAD FROM '<TO BE CHANGED>\EFASHION_SHOP_FACTS.CTL';
      could become
      LOAD FROM '/tmp/EFASHION_SHOP_FACTS.CTL';
    - Run the SQL statements which takes some minutes
    - Verify that all the files *bad.txt are of size 0 which means that the import of all records was successful.
At steps 2 cant navigate to the editor where the SQL statements will be pasted for execution.
Pls can some one give a step / step tutelage to achieve this?
    Many Thanks !

    Hi,
    For the step2,
    1. Right click on the navigator panel,
    2. Click to SQL Editor, where you can write/paste the SQL code
    3. Click on the execute link.
    Hope it is useful.
    Thanks

  • Why SAP HANA ? what made it difference from Data ware housing concept ?

    Hi,
Greetings Guys !! I am wondering and kind of lost with giant SAP newly introduced database SAP HANA. I have been informed that HANA is developed for fast query processing mainly. The older method of query processing involves lot of time ,i.e . the request should go to database and will retrieve information . If HANA have shown IMDB ( In- Memory database ) technology , Dataware house concept also solves waiting time of query processing .
Could some one explain me why HANA is introduced if Dateware house concept was already born ??

    Hi Venkatesh Garlapat,
SAP HANA is/was not only about reinventing the DW concepts again, but its a lot more than that.
Probably Google would have helped you, but let me point you to the right content which can clarify your doubts: Please refer:

  • SAP HANA - How system understands the columnar data relation?

    Hi All,
SAP HANA database stores the data in columnar format. So from row based table perspective, each column will be treated as an individual table with distinct values.
How HANA database maintains the relationship of each row so the user gets correct data? In other words, how HANA database internally process the column based records?
    Regards,
    Mandar

Lars,  Can you please help me to understand how this inverse index works here?
    Mandar,
Even determination of the correct rows,  can be linked to these three compression techniques.
    Run-length encoding
    Cluster encoding
    and Dictionary encoding
Run-length encoding. If data in a column is sorted there is a high probability that two or more
elements contain the same values. Run-length encoding counts the number of consecutive column
elements with the same values. To achieve this, the original column is replaced with a two-column
list. The first column contains the values as they appear in the original table column and the second
column contains the counts of consecutive occurrences of the respective value. From this information
the original column can easily be reconstructed.
Cluster encoding. This compression technique works by searching for multiple occurrences of the
same sequence of values within the original column. The compressed column consists of a two-column
list with the first column containing the elements of a particular sequence and the second
column containing the row numbers where the sequence starts in the original column. Many popular
data compression programs use this technique to compress text files.
Dictionary encoding. Table columns which contain only a comparably small number of distinct values
can be effectively be compressed by enumerating the distinct values and storing only their numbers.
This technique requires that an additional table, the dictionary, is maintained which in the first column
contains the original values and in the second one the numbers representing the values. This
technique leads to high compression rates, is very common, e. g. in country codes or customer numbers,
but is seldom regarded as a compression technique.

  • SAP HANA modelling Standalone

    Hello Experts,
We are in the process of HANA Standalone implementation and design studio as reporting tool. When I am modeling, I did not figure out answers to some of the below questions .Below are the questions. Experts, please help.
Best way of modeling: The SAP HANA LIVE is completely built on calculation view; there are no Attribute and Analytical views. I have got different answer why there is only Calculation view and there are no Alaytic view and Attribute views. We are in SP7 latest version. This is a brand new HANA in top of non-SAP (DB2 source).  What is the best way to model this scenario, meaning, can we model everything in the Calculation view’s like SAP HANA live or do you suggest using the standard attribute, analytical and calculation views to do the data model. Is SAP moving away from AV & AT to only calculation Views to simply the modeling approach?
Reporting: We are using the design studio as front end tool. Just for example, if we assume that we are
Using the BW, we bring all the data in to BW from different sources, build the cubes and use the bex query. Here in bex query we will be using the restricted key figures, calculated key figures calculations etc. From the reporting wise, we have the same requirements, calculations, RKF, CKF,Sum, Avg etc. if we are Using the design studio on top of standalone HANA, where do I need to implement all these calculations? Is it in different views?  (From reporting perspective, if it’s BW system, I would have done all the calculations in BEx.)
Universe: If we are doing all the calculations in SAP HANA like RKF. CKF and other calculations , what is the point in having additional layer of universe , because the reporting compnets cam access the queries directly on views .In one of our POC , we found that the using universe affect performance.
Real time reporting: Our overall objective is to give a real time or close to real time reporting requirements, how data services can help, meaning I can schedule the data loads every 3 or 5 min to pull the data from source. If I am using the Data services, how soon I can get the data in HANA, I know it depends on the no of records and the transformations in between the systems & network speed. Assuming that I will schele the job every 2 min and it will take another 5 min to process the Data services job , is it fair to say the my information will be available on the BOBJ tools with in 10 min from the creation of the records.
Are there any new ETL capabilities included in SP7, I see some additional features included in SP7. Is some of the concepts discussed are still valid, because in SP7 we have star join concept.
    Thanks

    >> I haven't read any "official" guidance to move away from typical modeling approach, so I'd say stick with the usual approach- AT, then AV, then CA views. I was told that the reason for different approach with HANA Live was to simplify development for mass production of solutions.
Reporting: We are using the design studio as front end tool. Just for example, if we assume that we are

    >> I'm not a BW guy, but from a HANA perspective - implement them where they make the most sense. In some cases, this is obvious - restricted columns are only available in Analytic Views. Hard to provide more complex advice here - it depends on your scenario(s). Review your training materials, review SCN posts and you should start to develop a better idea of where to model particular requirements. (Most of the time in typical BI scenarios, requirements map nicely to straightforward modeling approaches such as Attribute/Analytic/Calculations Views. However, some situations such as slowly-changing dimensions, certain kinds of calculations (i.e. calc before aggregation with BODS as source - where calculation should be done in ETL logic) etc can be more complex. If you have specific scenarios that you're unsure about, post them here on SCN.
Universe: If we are doing all the calculations in SAP HANA like RKF. CKF and other calculations , what is the point in having additional layer of universe , because the reporting compnets cam access the queries directly on views .In one of our POC , we found that the using universe affect performance.
    >>> Depends on what you're doing. Universe generates SQL just like front-end tools, so bad performance implies bad modeling. Generally speaking - universes *can* create more autonomous reporting architecture. But if your scenario doesn't require it - then by all means, avoid the additional layer if there's no added value.
Real time reporting: Our overall objective is to give a real time or close to real time reporting requirements, how data services can help, meaning I can schedule the data loads every 3 or 5 min to pull the data from source. >>> Not exactly sure what your question here is. Your limits on BODS are the same as with any other target system - doesn't depend on HANA. The second the record(s) are committed to HANA, they are available. They may be in delta storage, but they're available. You just need to work out how often to schedule BODS - and if your jobs are taking 5 minutes to run, but you're scheduling executions every 2 minutes, you're going to run into problems...

  • Integration Process Config SAP Hana Cloud integration with SuccessFactors

    Dear,
We are trying to connect SF with our SAP backend, I'm currently reading the following document: "Integration Add-On 3.0 for SAP ERP Human Capital and SF".
I'm fairly new to SAP so I have a few questions, since I didn't found the answer on the rest of the Community maybe this topic can serve to ask a few questions in my setup process.
    (Questions are in Bold)
    Question 1:
The document dictates: "Discover the packages for qualification data integration from the SAP HANA Cloud catalog. Once imported, please
configure them as per your requirements. The integration flows are shown in the following table."
I tried searching for the SAP HANA Cloud catalog but I didn't found where it is or what it is?
    Question 2:
Where do you setup the connection between SF and SAP? And do you have to do more customizing in SF (where is this described)?
Thanks a lot for any information regarding this topic.
    Kind regards
    EDIT 1:
Any reading suggestions on this topic.

    Hi Barry,
Both the links work for me. Can you please check if this issue for you is because of your login/authorization?
