SAP HANA View Row to Column Transpose

Hello Guys
What is the best way to transpose rows to columns within a Hana Model. I can find many articles that talk about Column to Row transpose.

Not as an answer, but as a question: Are there three rows *only* resp. could they be granted? Or you wanna have the amount dynamic, i.e. count the same customers and than created the amount of required columns?

  • Best Approach for Reporting on SAP HANA Views

    Hi,
Kindly provide information w.r.t the best approach for the reporting on HANA views for the architecture displayed below:
We are on a lookout for information mainly around the following points:
There are two reporting options which are known to us and listed below namely:
Reporting on HANA views through SAP BW  (View > VirtualProvider > BEx > BI 4.1)
Reporting on HANA views in ECC using BI 4.1 tools
Which is the best option for reporting (please provide supportive reasons : as in advantages and limitations)?
In case a better approach exists, please let us know of the same.
Best approach for reporting option on a mixed scenario wherein data of BW and HANA views is to be utilized together.

    Hi Alston,
To be honest I did not understand the architecture that you have figured out in your message.
Do you have HANA instance as far as I understood and one ERP and BW is running on HANA. Or there might be 2 HANA instance and ERP and BW are running independently.
Anyway If you have HANA you have many options to present data by using analytic views. Also you have BW on HANA as EDW. So for both you can use BO and Lumira as well for presenting data.
Check this document as well: http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-34403

  • Creating Logic and modeling for SAP BW datasource in SAP HANA views and SLT

    Hi to all,
    I have small question.
We have BW system and SAP ECC as source system and to get data from SAP ECC source system we are using SAP ECC Standard data source.
Now we required to, create modeling in SAP HANA by use of HANA View and get data from SAP ECC source table via SLT.
So we can replicate same modeling,as we done in SAP BW system.
But  my question is that, as SAP ECC standard data source hit multiple table and do run-time calculation, before sending to SAP BI.
How we can derives such calculation and logic, in our HANA studio, because as we know in SLT data transformation can be done in limited way also
in view we can not drive such logic via SQL script ?.
Is there any way we can do such modeling and logic in SAP HANA ?
    or
is there any standard document for this type of case, which we can use ?
Note: We don't want to use SAP DS or DXC for data loading to HANA, as  we want it in more real time.
    Regards
    Pavneet Rana

    Thanks for reply,
As SLT is based on ABAP, so we can write complex logic in it.
But if we talk about SAP ECC standard data source, they have complex logic, based on multiple table.
So we need to write code from scratch in SLT to derive same result. but it will be huge time consuming , and required good ABAP skills, also it will lead to bug in code.
Also it will reduce the real time performance of SLT, due to complex logic.
Second option is procedure via SQL script, which is again huge effort in term if logic and can lead to error/bug in logic.
Does we have any other way or architecture to do this is very simple way, with high performance and less error issue.

  • Row and Column transpose question

    Dear Support ,
I would like to transpose one internal table , for example :
    Column : MATERIAL , QTY , DATE
                  MA1          ,  100  , 2009-01-01
                  MA2          ,  200  , 2009-01-01
                  MA3          ,  200  , 2009-03-02
After the convertion , it should be like that :
    Column : MATERIAL , 2009-01-01 , 2009-03-02
                  MA1            100                0
                  MA2             200               0
                  MA3             0                200
As i know , in SQL it is very easy to do that , just like :
    select sum(case ' xxx ' when ' xxx ' .... ) ....
But how to do that in ABAP ?
    Thanks .

  • Universe based on SAP HANA OLAP connection

Can I create universe based on SAP HANA OLAP connection ?
How can i access SAP HANA view which was created using OLAP connection in WEBI and Dashboard? It does not allow creating Universe on top of SAP HANA OLAP connection and give an error.
SAP BusinessObjects query and reporting applications can directly connect to OLAP SAP HANA connections. No universe is required, only a published OLAP SAP HANA connection.
    Thanks

OLAP connection are only meant for tools that make use of OLAP connectivity only like BEx ..and HANA analytic views and calculated views are also treated as OLAP cubes for them..
So these connection is only available with analysis product like Analysis Office (which is meant to be used with Bex or OLAP cubes ) and Design studio which is again mainly built around OLAP paradigm..
You can not create a universe or Webi on Olap connection on HANA as of now.. However it could be like exposed in a future release of BO which is not public yet...

  • SQL Script VS HANA views

    Hi Gurus,
We are in the process of building the SAP HANA views. As we know there are multiple options
    1) Attribute , Analytic & Calc views
    2) Scripted Calculation views and CE functions.
I have read many articles and as per SAP Documentation, they say build the information view with  Attribute, analytic and calculation View (Graphical) If it does not suffice they go for scripted calculation view.
Just wanted to understand. Are there any limitations or any issues faced in the projects with scripted calc views. If we look at the John Appleby tips, it suggests that avoid SQL script unless it cannot be done with graphical views.
    http://scn.sap.com/community/hana-in-memory/blog/2013/12/29/6-golden-rules-for-new-sap-hana-developers
If we build the views with graphical method, then it seems the parallelism can very well achieved ,means query is split into multiple sub queries and executed in parallel as in Visualize plan.
If we write the Sql script, can this parallel processing  achieved or not ?  If the requirement can be achieved without writing script which method to choose.
I have included the 10 to 12 attribute views in analytic view then Calculation view; it seems there may be some performance issue which I am going to check. As we know we can use base table directly in calculation view. What is the best method to use .Can we use these base  tables in calculation view directly or build the attribute views first, then analytic  view and after that build calculation view.
As we know we use the attribute views from re usability perspective.  Is there any other reason that we need to use attribute views instead of joining the base tables in calc view .
    Regards
    Ram Ramanathaiah

Thank you Krishna for the answers. I have gone through those links. But there is nowhere consensus opinion that the way we use the views. Some of the answers conflict each other .When we are starting the project we need to make decision about the best approach we wanted to take. If possible I would like to understand more about this from you and other experts.
    1) Build the views with Attribute analytic or calc views or
    2) Build the views only with base tables in calc views or
    3) Build everything using the SQL script /CE functions.

  • Transposing Table Data From Rows to Columns Into a View

I have a web-based HRMS (Human Resources Management System) ERP with a back-end SQL Server 2008 R2. I'm trying to compare the actual manpower with the manpower contract requirements for 30 cost centers. My base data is as follows:
    TABLE Contract_Requirements: Class, Cost_Center, Contract_Qty
    VIEW Manpower_Count: Class, Cost_Center, Head_Count
I would like to transpose the rows to columns of both objects so that the end result would be similar to the following:
              Class          |          Site_1          |
    Site_2          |          Site_3          |          Site_4
    |...
    Superintendent                   1
    1                             1
    1
    Supervisor                           2
    2                             2
    2
    Medic                                   1
    2                             1
    3
    Crane Operator                   1
    1                             2
    1
The target layout is that each individual record displays the number of employees of a specific class allocated to each individual cost center; the cost centers become columns. I was able to accomplish this using the following TSQL:
    DECLARE @cols AS NVARCHAR(MAX), @query AS NVARCHAR(MAX)
    SELECT @cols = STUFF((SELECT ',' + QUOTENAME(Cost_Center)
    FROM Manpower_Count
    GROUP BY Cost_Center
    ORDER BY Cost_Center
    FOR XML PATH(''), TYPE
    ).value('.', 'NVARCHAR(MAX)'),1,1,'')
    SET @query = 'SELECT Class,' + @cols + ' INTO
    Manpower_Allocation_Matrix FROM
    (SELECT Class, Cost_Center, Head_Count
    FROM Manpower_Count) x
    PIVOT (SUM(Head_Count) FOR Cost_Center IN (' + @cols + '))p'
    EXECUTE(@query);
The only problem is if an employee is transferred from one cost center to another, which happens a lot on a daily basis, this would only be reflected in the base view; the resultant table will not be updated. I would have to repeatedly drop and recreate
the table which isn't efficient, nor is it the right practice. I was thinking of automating this using a scheduled procedure every day, but it's still not going to work. The actual manpower count must be known at real-time, meaning any changes should be reflected
immediately after any employee transfer. What is the most efficient way to automate this process and store real-time data? FYI, I'm not an SQL expert and have never worked with
stored procedures or triggers. I would also like to point out the number of cost centers is never fixed; consequently the number of columns aren't fixed either.

    Hi Seif,
You can pivot straightly on the base view to get real time data. The dynamic PIVOT is encapsuled in a Stored Procedure(SP), so every time your want to check the manpower count you can call the SP.

  • SAP HANA XSODATA service (Service exception: column store error.)

    Hi all,
i have a problem with my calculation view using xsodata service on it. (There's an input parameter called P
    _SWERK)
In my calculation view, the data origin are two analytic views (on which the input parameter P_SWERK should be filter data at beginning of the sql script code).
First i read the analytic views with function CE_OLAP_VIEW and after i do a CE_PROJECTION function on them using the input parameter P_SWERK like a filter on field SWERK.
But when i run my application on browser the following error occurs :
    <message xml:lang="en-US">Service exception: column store error.</message>
    The link is this :
    http://host:port/Project_DM/services/Test/TEST_ZIIG_PDM_CALC_VIEW_FINAL_service.xsodata/PianiDiManutenzioneParameters(P_SWERK='CO05')/Results
    The service definition is :

"EricssonItalgas/TEST_ZIIG_PDM_VIEW_FINAL.calculationview" as "PianiDiManutenzione" keys generate local "ID"
    parameters via entity;
The SAP HANA AWS revision is 60.
    Someone could you help me,please?
    Thanks in advance.
    Dario.

    Hi Dario,
Does the calculation view work without xsodata service? From the URL, your XS project name should be Project_DM, but from the xsodata source, the project name is EricssonItalgas. I'm confused with this. Did you use rewrite_rules or?

  • Defining a recursive view in SAP HANA

    Hi All,
Currently SAP HANA does not support defining recursive views as already mentioned in Tals discussion as per the following link:
Defining a recursive view in SAP HANA
I would like to ask again if this limitation is still exist in latest SAP HANA version or not?
    Some background:
In our MDM product we can create a hierarchy tables which organizes information in a hierarchy where each record is related to a parent record and may also be related to sibling records and/or child records.
On other hands, MDM product generates database views that are saved as database queries representing MDM data. Currently HANA limitation prevents creating a database view on top of hierarchy database tables.
    Lars Breddemann
    Best regards,
    Ahmad

    Hi Ahmad,
just as I mentioned in BOM explosion there is a feature available in SAP HANA (column view type hierarchy aka hierarchy views) that is used (SAP-) internally.
AFAIK there are some ideas to make this available via SQL, but I don't know when or how this functionality will make it into the standard product.
Ruediger Karl the core HANA PM might be able to answer that.
Until then, you might be better off contacting SAP HANA development about possibly using hierarchy views for your development.

  • Explorer InfoSpaces on HANA Views - column label changes cause issues?

Key question is – do simply label changes in HANA view cause issues with Explorer InfoSpaces?  Furthermore, on source view changes, does the InfoSpace also need to be adjusted?
What we have observed is this
    1. InfoSpaces have been created using the “SAP HANA appliance” connection highlighted below. The corresponding “Home” screen is shown below that, so there are around 14 or so InfoSpaces that should be available.
    2. Yesterday, there was a production deployment that contained some changes to the underlying views in the form of label changes (not column name changes).
    3. Now, in the “Manage” screen we cannot see these same 14 InfoSpaces available under the expected connection. Instead, they are all available under the “Source Unavailable” node with the default action of “Change Source” shown.
Additionally, we are seeing some strange behavior where certain facets are actually containing the wrong data. For example, in a facet/column called “Source Type”, where the expected values are “NBP or PBP”, we are seeing Material numbers like “00001112453”. This leads me to believe that there is a mapping issue under the covers.
    Thanks,
    Justin

Our BOE Explorer is Version: 14.1.1 Build: 1072   - I’m not sure how this corresponds with your 69.01 to 74 numbers (release note numbers?).
But it sounds identical to your description.
One of our observations: if we change the sorting on a facet pane using the upper right sort control the values are corrected for a while, at least until we change a measure and the set of facets get updated with the miss-mapped values again.    This only occurs on some models and we haven’t been able to determine what the underlying criteria might be that aggravates the problem.
Thanks for your input – it helps us determine a viable path forward.
    Cheers,
    Tony

  • How to transpose the data records (rows) to column(lists) using apd

    Hi,
how to transpose the data records (rows) to column (lists) using apd  in sap bw.
I do not want to use abap routine.only use the transpose rows to list  transformation .
Pls provide the step by step procedure .
    thanks,
    Nimai

Save youe file to transpose as a csv and in the header row of your file for the columns you want to transpose you need to put some soer of a tag before the column name (ie your colum header was for a period budget will be something lie 2011001:ZFIBDD)
    1. You will need to create a new apd process (rsanwb)
    2. Insert a "Read from Data File" data source object and map it file (,csv)
    3. insert a transpose object into your apd process (middle row 4th one over in the transformations section)
    4. under the definition tab in the transformation object select all the columns that are to be transposed into rows and move them to the transformed area, the grouping fields section should contain the rows that you want to now be columns
5.under the transformation tab enter in the seperator you selected  under the Field Name/Infoobject area (ie. ZFIBDD)
    6. under the details tab  you need to enter in all the fields to be transformed and tner the transposition field (ie ZFIBDD)
    7. Then you can insert a set of transformations and a DSO and link the newly transposed fields into that.
    hope that helps

  • Transpose rows to columns with numeric column name

I am trying to transpose row to columns.
Here is my data having 3 columns (date, last_retry and count(*) )
    Date last_retry count(*)
    1/2/06 2 13
    1/2/06 1 5
    5/5/06 1 12
    5/5/06 2     9
Desired Output with columns ( date, 1, 2)
    Date 1 2
    1/2/06 5 13
    5/5/06 12 9
Here is my query which doesn't work
    select trunc(Date),
    max(Decode(last_retry,'1',count(*))) as 1,
    max(Decode(last_retry,'2',count(*))) as 2
    from retry_state
1st problem: How do I transpose if this is not correct?
2nd problem: 1 cannot be named as column name, how can I name the columns
3rd problem: Suppose I am selecting this data and loading into a table. Now can
the data be loaded during select as well as transposed at the same time or would I need to create a view to load the data first into table and then perform transpose?

    hi,
this will transpose your data and insert into the table:
    INSERT INTO transposed_table
    (SELECT my_date,
    MAX(DECODE(last_retry,1,cnt,0)) AS "1",
    MAX(DECODE(last_retry,2,cnt,0)) AS "2"
    FROM retry_state
    GROUP BY my_date)
note: to avoid problem and confusion, i renamed the fields DATE and COUNT(*) to MY_DATE and CNT respectively. You should avoid using reserved words as your fields such as DATE!
    hope this helps.

  • Lock rows and columns header in a table view report. It is possible?

    hi,
I have a Dashboard that displays a report in "Table View" with many rows and columns.
Is it possible to set a lock on the rows and columns like Excel?
This would have blocked such headers that contain attributes and measures and to browse the report (eg with a scroll bar) had always viewed the headers.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks
