SAP mobile + Java Me + Jco

Hello folks,
I wanted to play a little with mobile development, especially Java ME and Java connector, but I didn´t find any way how to glue these things together. Example: I am not able to use jco.jar as a library like I am allowed to in Java SE. Does anybody have any idea why I can´t do this?
Feels like I am not supposed to use Jco for Java ME connection to the SAP system, but I think it would be just great to be able to do this... Can anybody suggest any other ways? I am sure I could read a lot about it, but there are so many resources that a personal recommendation would help a lot:))
cheers Otto

Hi Otto,
Firstly, nice hobby.
To my knowledge, SAP Java Connector does not works with Nokia OS... and I see no need to be "fighting" with this limitation! Just surrounds it ... invoking Web Services.
As a matter of using a VPN, is normal and correct ... you should check with your Basis team and infrastructure to undertake the necessary settings in the Firewall and WebAS, and maybe the DMZ.
Already the publication of a BAPI as Web Service is easy ... troubleshootings are complicated. I think you need to involve a developer ABAP and Basis team for this task.
Another possibility ... is to create a WebService in SAP Web AS using JCO to consuming the BAPIs. I believe that in this case a good search in the SDN can result in good articles.
Sorry I can not help you better ... Ineed to make money with it! (not a weekend hobby for me) laughs
Best regards,
Angelo

    Hi,
I think you can search for it or you can create a thread at ABAP section.

  • Data transfer b/w SAP to Java using IDOC and Interface SAP Jco

    Dear Experts,
The challenging requirement we are having is, we need to create the interface for data transfer between SAP system and the Java system. The data will be transferred from SAP to java and similarly once some processing done in Java again the details needs to be transferred from Java to SAP.
For this data transferred we are planning to use IDOC process and for interface "SAP Java connector (Version 3.0.5)" we are planning to use. As per our understanding, from Java side one program needs to be written to connect with SAP as "Registered program". This registered program will appear in SAP GATEWAY automatically and using tRFC, TCP/IP connection both SAP and Java system will be connected.
In this case we are having some doubts.
    1. The data from SAP is going to be transfered from one Custom transaction (Z tcode). Once "Outbound IDOC" will get triggered and will carry the details. Now the doubt is, whether the data / details will get transfered to JAVA system automatically or we need to perform any other steps from SAP ABAP coding...(like converting in to flat file, XML file and etc) ??
    2. We are planning to install "SAP Jco" in Java server. Is this correct...??
    3. Other than SAP Jco any other softwares needs to be installed or not..??
    4. Since we are going to trigger the "outbound IDOC" from custom transaction, we are planning to develope one program in SE37. Other than this any other program we need to develop or not..??
    5. Any sample Java program for the SAP Jco version 3.0.5 to create the "Registered program" with SAP..? (e.g. SAP Listener program).?
If anybody has detailed steps or explanation please share it with us.
    Thanks in advance
    Warm Regards,
    VEL

    Hi All,
For the above mentioned issue, we implemented JCo software in JAVA system and created the JAVA program including SAP logon credential details like Client, User name, password and Language details.
When this JAVA program was compiled successfully then, that non SAP system will appear in SAP gateway Tcode.
Once non SAP system started appearing in SAP gateway that means, both SAP & Non SAP are connected automatically.

  • SAP Mobile Engine with SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Java Trial Version ?

Hi, I would like to know if I can use the SAP Mobile Engine on the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Java Trial Version that you can download form SDN or in other words if I can configure a test system with the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP SP12 and SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Java Trial Version ?
I figure out that I can Develop some BAPI Wrappers on the ABAP Trial Stack but I can't enter on the SAP Mobile Engine in the JAVA stack, so is there any way ?
    Thanks.
    Matias.

Hi Sivakumar, first of all thanks for your help
So I have all of these this Trx. on my Netweaver Middleware which is a Trial Abap Version: (MEREP_MON, MEREP_PD, MEREP_SBUILDER) .... And I followed some Tutorial and did some BAPI WRAPPERS, so you are telling me that I don't Need any JAVA STACK?, at least just to test?, Becasue I need  to syncronize the PDA with the ABAP Trial server which is my Middleware also, ??  I have to Develop a Webdynpor for JAVA Applicaction in order to use an applicaction on my PDA (I would like to work OFFLINE applicactions, so that way How I can Upload the webdynpor App. to the PDA  and Sync them ?

  • What is Sap Mobile ? Is Java knowledge is must?

    Hi,
Iam an Abap consultant and I want to know what is Sap Mobile and in what way it is linked to Abap.
Is Java knowledge is must to know/learn Sap Mobile.
An  Abper can handle the Sap mobile or not ?
    thanks .
    sam.

    Dear sam,
The main aim of MI (Mobile infrastructure) is to retreive the latest data in the backend to the  MI client (which is insalled on the mobile device like laptops, PDA etc.)and update the backend with the data created on MI client in the field.
The SAP Mobile Infrastructure has to be installed on the MI Client.
    HELPFUL TO START WITH MI:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a7/893a5889e08b41b615688b1a93b559/frameset.htm
It is required to have knowledge in JAVA .
There are three versions of SAP Mobile Infrastructure available currently:
SAP MI 2.5, SAP MI 7.0 and SAP MI 7.1 .
MI 2.5 and MI 7.0 client installed on the mobile device is connected to MI server with the help of HTTPS connection and MI server is connected to Backend system with the help of RFC connection.
From SAP MI 2.5 SP18(New technology) onwards, in the middleware (MI server) you have both JAVA and ABAP stack.
An Abaper should be able to handle the Sap Mobile Infrastructure.
    Hope this helps you.
    Best Regards,

  • Sap basic java libs, JMON, JCO

    Hi,
Iam applying patch 27 for the portal ep6 sp2. the current patch is ep6 sp2 patch3 with j2ee pl 19.
Now first iam doing patch 4 for ep6 sp2 and then upgrading to patch 27.
My question now is for upgrading to patch 4 what version of java libs, jmon and jco i should maintain and later for patch 27 what version of basic java lib, jmon and jco i should maintain.
The patch4 document says to update basic javalibs, jmon and jco to the latest available one.
    The latest available patches are
basic java lib - patch 18
    jmon - patch 19
do anyone know how to do this. any documents are notes available ???
Thanks for your help in advance
    regards
    Moses

    Hi Moses,
here is what to you have to do:
    1. Patch the Software Delivery Manager (SDM) to the newest Patch Level (PL 14) - as described in SAP Note 532892
    2. Patch the J2EE Engine to the newest available patch (PL 30) - as described in SAP Note 738921
    3. Patch SAP Basic Java Libs 6.20 to Support Package 18 - as described in SAP Note 544979
Make sure IRJ service is stopped as mentioned in the thread Basic Java Libs 16
    4. Patch JMON to Patch Level 19. Installation (path were to copy the files) is described in SAP Note 657143. Unfortunately this note is not released. If you don't have a user to see the note, here is in short what you have to do:
    - unzip the archive: "sapcar -xfv JMON_19*.SAR"
    - copy file jmonapi.jar to the following directories:
         - ...j2ee_<Instance_Nr>adminlib
         - ...j2ee_<Instance_Nr>admin     ools
         - ...j2ee_<Instance_Nr>clusterdispatcheradditional-lib
         - ...j2ee_<Instance_Nr>clusterserveradditional-lib
         - ...j2ee_<Instance_Nr>clusterstateadditional-lib
         - ...j2ee_<Instance_Nr>clusterserverservicesfileworklibs
         - ...j2ee_<Instance_Nr>clusterserverstatefileworklibs
    - copy file jmon.dll and sapccmsr.exe to the directory:
         - ...j2ee_<Instance_Nr>os_libs
    5. If needed, patch SAP Java Connector to Service Release 2.0.10 - as described in SAP Note 682686 and the there mentioned installation guide.
    6. Now you can go on patching the Portal first to Patch 4 and than to Patch 27 as described in the installation guides.
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • Cannot retrieve business partners in SAP mobile iPad

    Hello Colleagues,
since some days I'm not able to retrieve business partners in my SAP mobile App.
Neither in iPad nor in iPhone.
I tried it on 2 different test servers.
A couple of day's before I saw all the business partners.
The only change I did in the last days was executing the steps regarding the Java JRE that was recommended by SAP Note 1582526.
In the Message-Log I've found the following:
The SQL-Exception with the ErrorCode 242 points to a conversion error from the given Date-String to a DateTime Value.
The Date-String is automatically inserted by the (whatever) system, it is the current date.
Is there a possibility to change the DateTime Format so the query can pass thru and I can see the business-partners?
    Thank you in advance
    Rudy.

    Problem solved
After setting the language of the sql server "sa" from german to english, everything works fine.
I don't know why this problem occurred. I never changed the language before...
    Cheers
    Rudy

    hi,Kondani
as JCO offers both Client side and server Side programming.
you can use JCO to connect SAP ABAP.outbound and inbound.
    1) JCO example 5 is about Server side programming java code. And you can see the data mapping is this example. And you must use sm59 to define the connections in SAP before you start.
    2) example 1 is about client side programming.
try example 1 first. you can get a table from SAP using BAPI.
Lots of JCO weblog you can see here

  • How to connect to SAP AS JAVA?

    Hi,
I am developing an JAVA application, which will connect to SAP AS Java dataSource. My environment don't have ABAP installed. So, I believe use of JCo connector is not an option.
Is ther any other connector API jar available to connect to SAP AS JAVA Datasource?
Could anyone please help me with a detail guide to connect to SAP AS Java Datasource using any APIs provided by SAP?
    Thanks
    Alingan

    Hi Aligan,
Thant's correct, you have to develop a service on your EP and then you can change the UME persistence (user creation etc).
Now you can write a J2EE app which will call your service to cater your requirement.
Please go through the below links which will help you to achieve the same

Could you please let me know for any further information.

  • Configuration of SAP NW AS (Configuration of SAP Mobile Infrastructure)

    Hello everyone
'm configuring the MI and I want to clarify some key concepts.
In the configuration of SAP NetWeaver AS when it says to initiate transactions (eg PFCG) means over the SAP R3 system?
    Thanks, Gokhan

    Dear Veeraraagavan,
    Yes, SAP R/3 = backend
I think you're right, and I'm banging my head on for days ... I gave a quick glance at guides (installation, architecture, Installation Options, etc.) on the SAP Web NWAS and I think I found a bit of light!
But I need confirmation from you experts.
On the Configuration of SAP Mobile Infrastructure in Prerequisites section is written that there is need of SAP NetWeaver AS 2004 (including the SAP J2EE Engine and the ABAP stack), so if I understand correctly the installation option for SAP Web AS is Integration = SAP Web Application Server ABAP + Java System.  So what in the figure http://www.mediafire.com/imageview.php?quickkey=vg3nzmjhiwm&thumb=6 represents only a SAP Web Application Server Java System (J2EE Engine) and non-SAP Web Application Server ABAP + Java System? Or it could be an ABAP + Java System?
I'm thinking that might be missing only the SAP GUI to access the ABAB ENGINE as shown in this photo http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/84/54953fc405330ee10000000a114084/frameset.htm .
    Thanks in advance, Gokhan
