SAP NetWeaver 7.1 and Web Services

Hi All,
Can I deploy Web Services(dswsbobje.war) on Sap Netweaver 7.1 ?
Where I can find documentation about that ?
Best Regards,

Hi Anne-Lise,
You going to struggle to get this working on the CE server side. SAP xml deserialization works in a similar fashion as JAXB deserialization & JAX-WS ref. implementation in that it's fault tolerant, so it will just log a warning message if the severity of your tracing location is set to 'Warning'
You could adopt the mediated SAP PI approach that Gourav has suggested OR increasing the severity of your tracing location & try to catch the warning message in you logic from the log OR (very dirty) just add aditional logic to try & catch it.
Ultimately, you would want the consumer to fix their problems first though

  • Enterprise services and Web services

    Hi Everyone
         I need documents about Invoking enterprise services from Netweaver PI and web services from Netweaver PI, I can find only NetWeaver CE, but not PI. So help, any links?? or pdfs?? or ideal would be some demo example of invoking a web service using PI.
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Since you would need to wet your hands by playing with webservice and PI. Please consider the following links.

  • Security for SOA and Web Services

    Dipak Chopra's 09 Dec 04 "Security for SOA and Web Services" piece has been a terrific starter for me as I start to delve into this topic. Does SAP/the SDN plan to publish an SAP-specific roadmap to show the adherence to and adoption of these standards in NetWeaver? (Or maybe there is such a published roadmap that I am unaware of?)

    Hi Randy
    SAP follows and participates in Security and other Web services standards very closely as we recognize the opportunity they present our customers for developing solutions and integrating systems faster at lower cost.
    However many of the standards are still in development and so are not quite yet ready for "prime time". This means that we can't really publish a "road map" as it would be continually changing. However, if you want an idea on which standards SAP thinks are important, please take a look at this presentation [1] which was delivered at the last Tech Ed.

    Hi,
    I am new to SAP Netweaver Enterprise portal (java)
    I donloaded  SAP Full Java Edition-Trial -SAP NetWeaver 04 SP16. which is with out visula composer support.
    There is another SAP NetWeaver Sneak Preview and Trial.
    Which with visual composer support.
    That is Full Java Edition2004s-Trial - SAP NetWeaver 04s SP7.
    so let me know which Service pack is first.
    Weather SP16 is first or SP7 is First.
    regards

    Hi mmukesh,
    you have to understand that there a two seperate NetWeaver releases (NetWeaver 2004 and NetWeaver 2004s) with their own support packages.

  • Message Monitoring and Web services Sequences  .. SOAMANAGER

    When can I use Mesage Monitoring and Sequence Monitoring .
    We are making a proof a concept and we are the following.
    1. A program which executes a proxy and with this proxy we are consuming a web services.
    2. The proxy and web services were implemented in the same Abap Machine .
    3. We execute the test and everything works very well and we consume the webservice and the program displays the expected result.
    Now want to know How can we use the Message Monitoring and the Sequence Monitoring . Is this posible ? Do we have to make any previous configuration?
    We don´t have any XI installation and for that we wonder if we can monitorize the  webservices  sequences ?
    Any idea about if we can realize such king of actions ..
    Many Thanks

    Hi
    I assumes u have dual stack.
    You can do the sequence monitoring with or without PI. But without PI you would achieve that thing on the local machine.
    You have to do those things at Java End using SAP NWA.

  • SAP NetWeaver component naming (and numbering)

    I have noticed this week (10-Oct-2005) that a number of the NetWeaver components have been renamed. For example, Enterprise Portal now seems to be called NetWeaver Portal, etc.
    What is the next 'evolution' of SAP NetWeaver component naming (and version numbering)?

    Hi,
    Just to add to my colleagues response. The SAP NetWeaver components are actually going away (they still exist for historic reasons). The new approach will start with SAP NetWeaver 2004s.
    Because of the growth of SAP NetWeaver technology and the reuse of features from one component in another and in new capabilities there is little sense in retaining the components naming.
    Is BI still BI if new functionality means you always access it through a portal for admin and query execution?
    So as the portal needs J2EE, BI will requires ABAP, J2EE, Portals, kmc, and BI from SAP NetWeaver. Is this the same old BI? We don't think so.
    This simply stops making sense to have pigeon holing component names on an ongoing basis especially when you start really blurring the lines between 'components'. They do not work!
    So SAP is now delivering SAP NetWeaver features and functions as IT Practices and IT Scenarios. These replace the component based rollout of SAP NetWeaver. For more information see the SAP service marketplace (http://service.sap.com/netweaver)
    You will still see the SAP NetWeaver 'fridge' slide as this is showing capabilities of SAP NetWeaver (example: BPM and Integration broker). Their will be more and more capabilities added as we add more meaningful groupings of technologies (example of recent ones: SAP NetWeaver MDM and Visual Composer).
    So, in short the component names are going away and being replaced by IT Practices/IT Scenarios.
    I hope this helps,
    Mike.
    P.S. Release numbers also history for SAP as we don't have components - so you will only see SAP NetWeaver release names like 2004s.

  • Export SAP Netweaver Portal configuration and setting

    Currenlly, I am developing a web dynpro application which will be deploy into sap netweaver portal using Iview.
    Anyone has an idea of how to export all NEWLY ADDED sap netweaver portal configurations and settings such as portal content information (Iview), ume info such as role, groups and users, portal theme, modified login page and masthead, knwoledge management, collaboration .... from the sap netweaver portal in my development environment into my client's UAT and Production SAP Netweaver Portal server.

    Hi
    For transporting iVIEWs
    goto system admin -- transports -- transport package - export --
    now create a folder under portal content and right click ur folder - new -- transport package -- give name and id and open object and add ur iviews to that package and click on  export- and click on start export
    now download the file and save to ur desktop
    and login to ur QA system and goto system admin -- tranport -- transport package -- import -Source for Package Files - select client -- browse ur file and click import
    for theme transport goto system admin -- portal display -- theme transport -- under export theme click on ur theme and and save that file to ur desktop
    now login to QA and goto system admin - portal display -- theme transport -- import -- brose ur theme and upload
    for modified logon page u need to deploy ur par file into ur QA system
    For KM transport check this bogs
    KM transports: Part I
    KM transports: Part II
    KM transports: Part III
    KM Transports: part VI

  • Error during EAR deployment with EJB and web service

    I created a simple stateless EJB with one method called echo that returns a string.  I created a web service using the wizard, did a build and deployed.  The deployment did not report an error, but the logs in the visual administrator showed the follwoing message, and the web service did NOT deploy.
    Am I missing something related to EJB and web service security?

  • SAPConnection Pooling and Web Services

    Hi,
    We have build a lot of .NET web services which are connecting to various SAP systems (depending on the front-end user).
    To improve performance we were considering using the SAPConnectionPool class ...
    We have some questions about this class:
    1) While thinking about it we were wondering if there is actually any benefit considering the stateless nature of web services ...
    How would we actually manage that the connection pool remains in place for each subsequent web service call (so the pool does not need to restart over and over again, obviously loosing its benefits) ...
    Would it work by add methods to the Global class?
    2) To get at least one open connection available to each SAP system before the first web service is called, would it be sufficient to just ask for a connection to each system and immediately return it again to the pool (this would then be executed in the global class )
    Perhaps we are missing some fundamental stuff here but be patient with us ... we are only working for 6 months in the .NET environment (coding like hell in C# )
    Thx,
    Steven
    Here is the code we added to the global.asax:
    public static void InitializeSAPConnectionPooling()
    // Try to get the SAP connections from the application memory
    Hashtable wSAPConnections = (HashtableHttpContext.Current.Application["SAPConnections"];
    // When we have it
    if ( wSAPConnections != null )
    // For each connection, start up a connection in the pool
    foreach( DictionaryEntry wElement in wSAPConnections )
         // Get a connection
         SAPConnection wConnection = SAPConnectionPool.GetConnection((string)wElement.Value);
         // Return the connection back to the pool          SAPConnectionPool.ReturnConnection(wConnection);

    Hi Reiner,
    Thx for the response!
    I understood the meaning of the pooling - the tricky question is whether the hashtable with the open connections 'survives' between 2 web service calls ...
    If not then the whole point of using the connection pooling is useless to us ...
    My code snippet is perhaps looking useless as I lost some characters during the paste ... its idea is simply to have for each SAP server one connection being available when the server restarts ...
    unfortunately this does not makes much sense when there is a 'keep alive' check build in ...
    Some more questions then:
    1) Can we have control over the 'timeout'?
    2) Is there a way I can check whether the returned connection by the pool is a new one or an existing one?
    3) How does this work together with "load balancing" ... I guess I will get the same connection again when my connection string directs towards a message server in stead of an application server?
    4) Is a connection being opened once the connection object is returned by the pool or only when the actual BAPI call is executed?
    Thx,
    Steven

  • Struts and web services

    If you want to use Struts and web services, what approach do you take? If you want to use reliable messaging,
    you need to have a web service client as well as the web service being called.
    What is the recommended way to set this up?
    Do you call a local web service from the action class and then have that web service do all of the business logic including calling remote web services?
    I am just starting to look at this so I am probably not close but I would like some guidance on what, in general, is the correct approach.

    The jars you are referring to are not SAP BusinessObject specifics jars: struts and JiBX. There are open source java framework. For more information about the struts refer to:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_Struts
    for more information about jibx refer to:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JiBX
    Normally the core jars for a SAP BusinessObjects webservice SDK are:
    The core jar files to use for Web Services Java SDK  applications are:
    dsws-bicatalog.jar
    dsws-biplatform.jar
    dsws-common.jar
    dsws-publish.jar
    dsws-queryservice.jar
    dsws-reportengine.jar
    dsws-saveservice.jar
    dsws-session.jar
    wilog.jar
    And the jars you have mentioned are part of the
    The dependent jar files to use for Web Services Java SDK  applications are:
    activation-1.1.jar
    axiom-api-1.2.5.jar
    axiom-impl-1.2.5.jar
    axis2-kernel-1.3.jar
    axis2-saaj-1.3.jar
    axis2-xmlbeans-1.3.jar
    backport-util-concurrent-2.2.jar
    commons-codec-1.3.jar
    commons-httpclient-3.0.1.jar
    commons-logging-1.1.jar
    log4j-1.2.14.jar
    mail.jar
    stax-api-1.0.1.jar
    struts.jar
    wsdl4j-1.6.2.jar
    wstx-asl-3.2.1.jar
    xbean-2.2.0.jar
    XmlSchema-1.3.2.jar
    In any cases it is recommended not to have duplicated jars in your deployment and also check if the version of the jars to use is supported by the version of the JDK used.

  • XML and Web Service Data Source Missing in Crystal Reports for VS

    I would like to use a Web Service as the data source for a Crystal Report that will be running outside of my Visual Studio application.  So setting the data source to the web service in code is not possible.  My understanding is Crystal Reports has a connection (in the Database Expert under New Connection) named XML and Web Service.  Here you can select web service and enter the WSDL URL for the web service.  However it does not appear in the list for Crystal Reports for Visual Studio.  Does this connection type come with the Visual Studio version of Crystal Reports and if not is their a way to obtain it?
    Thank you for your assistance.

    None of the bundled versions of CR have the driver. Reason is that the driver responsible for these connections requires the Java framework and I suspect MS would not be too pleased if we installed the Java framework. The stand alone versions, since they are not part of any bundle can and do install the Java framework and the driver. Note that even the latest release of CR - CRVS2010 does not have the driver as it essentially becomes a bundle or a VS2010 plug-in.
    So, the short of it is; you have to obtain a stand-alone version of CR. I'd recommend CR 2008 (12.x) as CRXI R2 will run out of support in June of this year.

  • Can't run wiki and web services at the same time?

    I'm a newbie with Lion Server, but I've been running several web sites successfully for about 6 months.  I'm up to Server 10.7.4.
    I've been trying ever since the first installation of Server to get the wiki service running.  I had absolutely no luck until I turned OFF the web service (always got the "URL does not exist" error when I tried to create a group wiki from inside the Server app).  With the web service off, it all starts up fine and I created my first wiki (woohoo).  Turning web service back on kills access to the wiki.  I don't find reference to this in any of the dicussions, and especially not in Apple's documentation.
    Are the Wiki and Web services mutually exclusive?  Or is there a way around this?
    I'm using Dyndns to provide me with sub-domains to use, and I've dedicated one of them to the wiki service.  Traffic comes in on port 8080, where my web sites are on port 80.
    Thanks for any pointers...

    LR supports tethering using a Canon DLL and EOS Utility probably also supports tethering or at least uses something from a similar Canon DLL.  You probably cannot have two different versions of that DLL loaded at the same time, so it makes sense there are problems.

  • SSL certificates and Web Services Usage inside Oracle Database Questions!

    We have implemented a specific business logic using PL/SQL for our client, so we open a file and process each line of this, doing something in the Database and also call a Web Services (Service1) using UTL_HTTP package. Service1 runs in a Windows 2008 Server in the DMZ as Database server.
    Service1 is already working, and we can call the service from PL/SQL without troubles.
    However, according with security client's policies they requires all Web services be consumed via https including Service1, so we must to follow the procedure established for Oracle in order to enable the calling of service1 via https from the Database.
    Our client's DBA and IT Team are concerned about two subjects before to continue to follow the certificate installation:
         - SSL Certificates:
    1- Can installed certificates in the Database put in risk the stability of the database?
              2- Can installed certificates in the Database generate performance issues?
              3- Can installed certificates reloading the Databases?
              2- Can installed certificates in the Database generate security issues?
         - Web services:
    1- Can web services calling from the Database put in risk the stability of the database?
    2- Can web services calling from the Database generate performance issues?
    3- Can web services calling from the Database generate security issues in the DMZ?
    Could you please give us any clues, about the possible negative impact related with the SSL certificates and Web Services Usage inside Oracle Database, if it’s the case this impact exists?.
    Those are the links describing the procedure mentioned above.

    DB: Oracle 9i.
    Average number of lines in file: 300
    Periodicity: Twice at day.

    You are correct in that there should be no problem interacting with a Web service that has an HTTPS endpoint as long as you create a wallet and specify it when you make your UTL_HTTP calls, like the PayPal example.
    I am not aware of a PL/SQL utility to create a XMLDsig Standard message, but if you find some Java source out there that does it, you may be able to follow a technique I used for a similar use case:

  • Custom Portal Services and Web services

    Can you please tell me what exactly are "custom portal services" and "web services" with a business like/ real life example?
    How do you go about developing deploying and utilizing these services in Portal?
    Thanks.

    Hi navin,
    Thanks for the par file.
    Duly awarded points.
    I need your help again.
    I wish to use the method
    public String getWelcomeString(String name)
    in my own portal application to test usage of portal services.
    So I uploaded your par file on my server.
    Then I added the api and core jar files which came along with your par in my project as external jar files.
    I imported com.wickes.WickesService.*;
    Next, to use the service I coded:
    IPortalRuntimeResources rs =
    PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources();
         IWickesService ws = (IWickesService) rs.getService(IWickesService.KEY);
    But now I am stuck and I dont know how to proceed.
    Please help.

  • SAP NetWeaver 70 - Java and ABAP VMware Trial.part02.rar CRC error?

    HI,
    I've downloaded the file:
    SAP NetWeaver 70 - Java and ABAP VMware Trial.part02.rar
    of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - Java and ABAP Trial Version on Linux - VMware Edition
    four times and everytime a get a CRC error in the RAR file. Is the file wrong or the download incorrect?
    Regards, Edwin Slee

    Hi Henry.
    I’ve downloaded the file again. Now it is called:
    SAP NetWeaver 70 - Java and ABAP VMware Trial.part02.tgz
    But it is a RAR file.
    As you suggested I open the file with WINRAR 3.61 and select
    Tools -> repair archive
    In the directory a file:is created with the name:
    rebuilt.SAP NetWeaver 70 - Java and ABAP VMware Trial.part02.tgz
    The WINRAR message box reads:
    Detecting archive type...
    ---> RAR
    Build fixed.SAP NetWeaver 70 - Java and ABAP VMware Trial.part02.tgz
    Searching for recovery record
    ---> recovery record not found
    Build rebuilt.SAP NetWeaver 70 - Java and ABAP VMware Trial.part02.tgz
    Found SLES10SP1_Test_Drive(2)-s002.vmdk
    Found SLES10SP1_Test_Drive(2)-s003.vmdk
    Found SLES10SP1_Test_Drive(2)-s004.vmdk
    Found SLES10SP1_Test_Drive(2)-s005.vmdk
    When I open this file with WINRAR again a try to extract
    SLES10SP1_Test_drive(2)-s003.vmdk I still get a CRC error, the archive file is corrupted.
    I think the error isn’t due to the download, because I’ve downloaded the file using three different internet connections (8 times now) and all the files are identical, with a CRC error !
