SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Support Portlet Development

Hi Everybody,
Do we create portlet with SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio SAP. NetWeaver Application Server, Java(TM) EE 5 Edition support or it does not support Portled development.
Is there any portlet plug-in for NWDS to develop portlet.
Thank You
Syed Saifuddin

Hi Syed,
From your post I can understand that you want to use standard portlets in EP6. Unfortunately this is not supported in NetWeaver 04s which you are probably using because of EP6.
These portlets, that are compliant with JSR168, are supported in the next release – NetWeaver CE 7.1 (JEE 5) and the portal that will be shipped with it.
However how to write a Hello World portlet you can learn from the following article: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/14b5d01e-0e01-0010-24aa-f12ee5940060

  • SAP Netweaver Developers Studio Installation Problems?

I am not having success installing the SAP Netweaver Dvelopers Studio.
The wizard asks me for the location of the SDK (SAP DEVELOPER KIT) and I enter exactly where it is. However, it keeps telling me that this is not a valid directory...Perhaps the files became corrupt during download?
Anybody had any experience with installing this product?

    Hi Tom,
to install NWDS you have to first install the java development kit.
    You can download it from

  • Is SAP Netweaver Dev.Studio(version 2.0.3) not applicable for Portal app's?

    Hello All,
On Windows XP system,I have installed "SAP Netweaver Dev.Studio(LICENSED version 2.0.3)", system is perfectly as per the requirements including the jdk 1.4.2 version.
After the installation, there is no menu item for creating the Portal Application project in the New->Project menu items. Is this version 2.0.3 not compatible for working with SAP Enterprise Portal applications? In the documenatation of the same,SAP says that we can work even as a standalone application (only the IDE for developing the Portal objects)? But there is no provision for this?I have not find any documentation related this problem?Request your help for the advise.
    Thanks

You need to have at least SP 9 for that option to show up.

  • Sytax highlighiting for jsp in Developer Studio for portal development.

    Hey,
I am doing JSP with the htmlb taglib for portals. When I edit a jsp page in the Developer Studio, I expect syntax highlighting. This is what I see in the documentation for jsp editing as well - you know where the keywords are highlighted.
Sytax highlighiting for jsp in Developer Studio for portal development.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/ce/e0a341354ca309e10000000a155106/content.htm
OutputSuccess.jsp, OutputSuccessText.jsp are the two jsp's that are syntax highlighted on this page.
In my Developer Studio this is not the case. Is a JSP editor and its highlighting not part of the Developer Studio. If it is, how do I get it to work.
I also know that given the right taglib's, the editor also gives autocomplete for taglibs with its settings. I am hoping to speed up my development with this.
Right now I am using a text editor for this. There are a couple of jsp plugin's such as exadel or lomboz which I can integrate if a jsp syntax editor is not there in the Developer Studio. I just wanted to know the right way to go about this.
    Thank you for your help.
    Sumit.

Never mind. I was in the preview mode.

  • Netweaver developer studio and support package

we use JDI and netweaver developer studio for webdynpro development. when we upgrade satellite systems to latest sp, what should we do with developer's pc (j2ee engine and developer studio)? if we upgrade them to the same latest sp as in development satellite system, we will be compatible with development, but what about production system support? production will still be at the current old sp version. do we need another developer pc to support the current development on current sp?
    Thanks
    Jane

    HI,
Its better to maintain WAS.NWDS and JDI on same SP level to avoid conflicts between different SPacks.
Recently there is a blog on the same on SP levels.

  • SAP Netweaver Developer Studio SP16 - download

Please let me know where I can download SAP Netweaver Developer Studio SP16 - is it available on SDN or do we have to be a SAP partner to get this version?
I tried the full SP16 Java Edition (4 files) but it doesn't contain Studio. The only version of Studio I can find is SP9.
    Thanks,
    Alastair

Please could you let me know where I can download it. I have tried the following packages from SDN; results are as stated.

    - Developer Studio without Web Dynpro project
Slim Java Edition-Trial (minimized memory consumption)

  • Latest version of Netweaver developer studio.

    Hi all,
Can anybody tell me the latest version of Netweaver developer studio and the place from where we can download it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ravi

    Hi,
You can download from the following location. By the way iam giving the location for all 3 different versions of sap netweaver developer studio(Assuming that you want to develop some mobile applications)
    http://service.sap.com - >Software Download - >SAP Support Packages - >Entry by application group - > SAP Netweaver - >SAP Netweaver ->
From here you have option to download 3 different versions. One is Sap NW 04 which is for Mobile Infrastructure 2.5, second is SAP NW 7.0 for MI 7.0 and last one is SAP NW Mobile 7.1 for SAP NW Mobile client 7.1.
So based on that you can click either on 1. SAP Netweaver 04 - >Entry by component - > Developer Studio ->NW deveoper studio->win32 and download the latest version which is SP22.
    2. SAP Netweaver 7.0 - Entry by component -> Developer Studio - > NW developer
studio 7.0 ->WIN 32 and download the latest one which is SP15.
    3. SAP Netweaver Mobile 7.1 - >NWDS UPDATE SITE CE 7.10->#OS independent->and download the latest one which is SP05.
    Hope this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Siva.

  • Netweaver Developer Studio question

From where can I download the Netweaver Developer Studio?   I was told it was available on sdn.  If it's here, I am having trouble locating it.
    Thanks

    Hi Wardell,
The SAP NetWeaver Preview editions contain the Developer Studio.  See https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloads -> NW.
If you have a Service Marketplace login it is also available at http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Download -> Installations and Upgrades -> Entry by Application Group -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NETWEAVER -> SAP NETWEAVER 2004S -> Installation and Upgrade -> <OS Platform> -> <DB Platform>.

  • Do a developer or consultant in  XI uses NW Developer Studio ???

    HI Friends,
I have learned XI and need to work in XI.
In real time, does XI depends on NW Developer Studio?
or Netweaver Developer Studio is meant for EP?
My boss suggested me to do one application in NW Dev Studio.
I am confused by this as I thought Dev Studio is meant for EP?
Please let me know about this ...
    Thanks
    Viswanath

    Hi,
NWDS new Eclipse-based development environment for Java Enterprise applications, Web Dynpro applications and Web services.
The SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio introduces SAP’s own environment for developing Java-based, multiple-layered business applications. The new development environment is based on Eclipse, an open source product, whose open Plug-In Architecture provides a suitable platform for incorporating specific functions.
By offering a single point of entry for all Java development tools and an integration point for all SAP infrastructure components, the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (subsequently abbreviated to Developer Studio) supports you in developing Web Dynpro and J2EE applications. Moreover, it is based on a defined software logistics process. Application developers do not need to switch between different development environments for the presentation and business logic. Instead, they can develop, build, deploy, and execute applications centrally from the Developer Studio.
Mainly these JAVA application development is related to EP, that may be the reason you felt that it only meant for EP. In XI also we need to develop some JAVA application based on requirement as Michal has mentioned in his reply such as Module development, Adapter developmet and others absed on XI requirement for JAVA application.

  • Difference in Developer Workplace 7.0 AND Developer Studio 7.0

    Hi all
I have to install NetWeaver Developer Studio on my machine.
For this I searched for an download option in this site.
I got a link for download:
SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) Trial Version - Full Java Edition
But on this link there are two options :
    1 . Developer Workplace 7.0 SP14SR3 Java Server Evaluation                    (4.214.608.965 bytes)
    2. Developer Studio 7.0 SP14SR3 Java Server Evaluation (542.784.960 bytes)
Now I am confused on which to download.
What are additional features in Developer Workplace.
There are lot of installation guides available from SAP about  Developer Studio 7.0  which i found while googling.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a0d1b193-0ac8-2a10-43ae-a93f3731028f
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b22d4e44-0e01-0010-ffa4-fe9c59939e5e
But if i need to install Developer Workplace 7.0, then would these documents be sufficent for me guide me through the process. Or i would need a separate document for the same.

Developer Workplace also installs a SAP J2EE engine, where you can test your developed code. This SAP J2EE engine also includes NW Enterprise Portal, NW Knowledge Management and the NW Development Infrastructure and other development tools.
    See this link for details:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e0576c7e-e306-2a10-37b8-a25d82e6f9d8
So, Developer Studio lets you develope Java applications, the SAP J2EE engine that comes with Developer Workplace lets you test these applications.
    Thanks,
    Dieter

  • Developer studio versions

Has anybody tried to use Websphere Studio to work on a Web Dynpro and connect to SAP J2EE? Is this doable or we leave open source to enter the proprietary world?

    Hello Greg,
I'm not aware of anyone having done this before.
SAP Web Dynpro comes with its own Eclipse perspectives. Those perspectives actually enable the so-called way of declarative programming of user interfaces which means that you only declare objects, properties and relations. The actual implementation Java code is then generated by the IDE. Of course, there exist the possibility to add custom code to the model and business logic. But the UI of Web Dynpro is generated.
The Web Dynpro deployment descriptor (SDA) is a superset of the J2EE EAR deployment descriptor. So here again, the assembly of the deployment archive is Web Dynpro specific.
Furthermore, Web Dynpro is integrated with the SAP Java development infrastructure (JDI) that enables team development, versioning and staging (DEV, QA/Test, PROD) of Java applications.
So from a developer perspective and for efficiency reasons I would rather use the IDE corresponding to the J2EE server, in that case to use NetWeaver Developer Studio for Java development for SAP.

    Michael
