"Save As" crashes PS

PS CS3, MacBook Pro, Leopard, 10.5.6, 2.33 GHz, 3 GB 667 Mhz DDR2
Whenever I try to use "Save As" in PS the program crashes.
Thanks.
Grant

Version Cue was/is not well thought out.
For instance, there is no reason whatsoever that the Version Cue options should even be visible if you don't have the suite. I run older versions of Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat, while only keeping Photoshop upgraded. I shouldn't have to deal with VC scripts and option boxes.
Very minor annoyance, though. :)
Incidentally, I still think
Viet Cong any time I see
VC. :(

  • Screen Saver WindowServer Crashing

    I have a dual 1.42 GHz PowerPC G4 with 2 GBs RAM running 10.4.5.
When opening Desktop and Screen Saver in System Preferences and selecting anything in that dialog box System Prefs consistently crashes. I would like to prevent the system from going into sleep mode when I have apps that are processing in the background.
I have run repair permissions and cleared out the cache. Has anyome else had this problem or, more importantly, does anyone know a fix?
    Thanks.

Yes, screen saver preferences crashes immediately when clicking the screen saver preview mode. I am able to get into the desktop preferences. I don't recall the last download before this happened since this has been about a week. All other apps besides ichat, quicktime and the screen saver preference pane are fine and helvetica font is active. Im guessing its probably an issue with one certain application or corrupt file.

  • How to get logic to save a crashed version???

Hi. Logic keeps crashing when i do things like move loads of audio a few bars later but never seems to save a crashed version. How do i make sure that a crashed version is saved everytime this happens?
    Thanks, Ben

which version of Logic do you have?

  • My screen saver preferences CRASHES!

    So, this is pretty simple.
I don't have a way to change my desktop background nor my screen saver, cause every time i try to do that. the desktop/screen saver window CRASHES!...
I tried restarting, I already report the issue with apple... but i don't know what i can do!... I mean, there's a way to fix or to restore that specific part of the OS?
or, hmmm... i don't know!... I'm very confused!...
Some other details: I have the "iTunes artwork" screen saver, (i don't know why) but that may be the cause of the crash... maybe it doesn't find a file or a specification...
    THANKS A LOT! =D

Hi, abrahamca. Welcome to the Discussions.
You wrote: "I don't have a way to change my desktop background nor my screen saver, cause every time i try to do that. the desktop/screen saver window CRASHES!..."I presume you mean that when you attempt to select the "Desktop & Screen Saver" preference pane in System Preferences, this results in System Preferences quitting unexpectedly.
    If so, try the following:
    1. Quit (Command-Q) System Preferences if it is open.
    2. Trash the following two files in your Home > Library > Preferences folder:
    • com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    • com.apple.desktop.plist
    3. Trash the following files in your Home > Library > Preferences > ByHost folder:
    (a) com.apple.systempreferences.xxx.plist
    (b) com.apple.screensaver.xxx.plist
    (c) com.apple.screensaver.screensaver_name.xxx.plist
where• xxx is an alphanumeric string, and
    • screensaver_name is the name of a screen saver you have used.Whether preferences files of the type shown in (c) exist depends upon the screen saver and if you have changed its options, if any.
    4. Open your Home > Library > Caches folder, then trash the following two files therein:
    • com.apple.preferencepanes.cache
    • com.apple.preferencepanes.searchindexcache
    5. Empty the Trash.
    6. Launch System Preferences and see if all is well. If so, reset Desktop & Screen Saver preferences accordingly.
Note that some of the information above is from the "System Preferences" chapter of my book, Troubleshooting Mac® OS X, Tiger Edition.
    Good luck!

  • HT4759 How to Completely Uninstall iCloud? Office 2007 Save As Crashes

I can no longer use "Save As" in Office 2007 since I enabled ICloud.  Word and Excel Crash. And Outlook does not seem to be about to send more than one email at a time.  I have to select the Send/Receive button right after I create a new email.  If I wait and create a second email, the first email in the outbox changes status from ready to send to cannot send.  And even if I open it and try to send it, it will not send.  I have to re-create it.
I want to know how to thoroughly uninstall ICloud.  Other posters on Microsoft (Girish M) and Apple (SkinnyNick) have indicated that the problem is related to ICloud.  And I can confirm that I started having problems right after enabling ICloud.  Here are the references:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2007-excel/excel-2007-clo sing-unexpectedly-when-trying-to/69705682-06ca-4e39-b17e-56d4bacc3452
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4607859?start=0&tstart=0
I spent a lot of time trying to trouble shoot this problem.  I ran the Office install to repair.  This did not work.  I uninstalled all Office 2007 related products.  I then manually purged all directories relating to office including the Common Shared Directories.  Then, I ran Microsoft's FixIt to uninstall Office to make sure everything was uninstalled.  Then, I reinstalled Office 2007 and it still failed.  I thought about installing Office 2010, but the second post (above SkinnyNick) indicates that this would not work.
So, I am looking for a way to uninstall iCloud including that parts that is causing this problem.  Now, the second post (above) from
SkinnyNick) says that he tried to uninstall iCloud but this did not fix the problem.  He finally reconfigured iCloud by de-selecting Outlook, but I would rather completely remove iCloud.
Can anyone provide instructions on how to completely remove iCloud so that my Office 2007 products will function again using Save As?
    Thanks,
    Rob

As a Windows Application Developer who has more than 28 years of professional development experience, I can tell you that anything is possible in terms of how developers implement their applications. I have seen just about everything under the sun, and it would not surprise me if Apple's iCloud not only places files in key Windows directories, but it may use configuration information in a file as opposed to the Window Registry to control how their application behaves. And this would prevent “System Restore" from fixing the problem. Configuration information can be stored in many places. And, even if you do use the Windows Registry to control how your application works, you can key off of new files (like a user profile file) to control how your application to behaves. Csound1, you have been very generous with your time, and I am very grateful for your advice. Thank you.

  • IDVD 704 issues: chapters, save-as crashes, theme elements getting "lost"

I'm using iDVD 7.0.4 on a mid-2010 13" MBP with 6Gb of RAM, running OSX 10.6.5 . I created a new project, and applied an old theme I created in iDVD 5 or 6. The theme is basically empty, apart from a single backdrop image and a few font specifications. (I like things simple...)
I then imported a QT movie created with Final Cut Express HD 3.5.1 from 16:9 (anamorphic) PAL DV material. The movie contains about 9 chapter markers and was corrected back from 720x576 to 1024x576 in QuickTime Player 7.
The movie imported correctly, but chapter titles with accented characters were lost (issue 1)
Issue 2: Doing a Save-As of an open project provokes a crash - immediately if I use the keyboard shortcut, delayed if I use the menu. Yet it has worked a single time.
Issue 3: After finalising the project, I decided to do a final edit on the chapter title text colour. Impossible to consolidate that to disk: if I save a project changed in this manner, it will no longer open correctly. iDVD will complain about missing theme elements, and force the default theme on me.
I tried rebooting, but that didn't resolve issues 2 & 3 (didn't check issue 1 but that one seems a true bug or omission).
Any ideas? A quick peek on here didn't serve any similar stories, so am I the only one experiencing this?

  • Multiple pages in FW save is crashing

Using 10 pages to save is either crashing or corrupting the file upon force quit. . CS5 OS X10.8 intel. Is their a limit on number of pages to use?  Should I separate my files into "parts" of my final website.   I will be exporting to Dreamweaver. My site will have 24 pages total.

You might want to look at the third party TTG Highslide Galley and TTG Pages. The gallery is just that, a web engine for creating galleries but with more options than the LR galleries, and TTG pages will index multiple galleries and generate a home page. That way you could have separate galleries for interir, exterior, etc. It also has client review functionality.

  • File Save As Crashes Logic

Attempting to File Save As in Logic crashes the program. Tried complete
reinstall of the app. and software updates but the issue remains. Any ideas?

I'm going bananas. I have the same symptoms, crashing on fileselectors on certain files. I tried the System Optimizer, I tried went looking for the inputmanagerfiles that apple told me to remove but I don't have them at all. I suspected Altiverb to be the cause and sent crash log and the whole d*mn project to them but so far they're not able to recreate the problem. Any clues? I've already trashed p.lists and caches and tried making a new user. It is definately a file-selector issue and it seemed to go away when I removed Altiverb. But now I've been able to generate the bug also without altiverb. Any thoughts?

  • Adobe CS5 files will not save and crash on Yosemite

I have a brand new Macbook Pro 15" running the latest version of Yosemite. I have my Adobe CS5 Web Premium system installed and when using Illustrator, I can not save any files--when I go to save and choose where to save the document, the program freezes and the following crash report appears. This happens for any open document, I've tried many different ones. I have uninstalled and re-installed all Adobe programs, made sure they are all up to date versions, I've deleted all my preferences, changed time zones, and have attempted most all other fixes in the forums other than wiping the drive and starting over. Any help would be greatly appreciated--I'm a graphic designer and not being able to use Illustrator is affecting my job!

Did you ever get this fixed? I'm just now experiencing this very issue and have done all the things same as yourself to no avail.

  • System Overload & "Save as" crashes

I'm using Logic 7.0.1 on 10.4.2, with Pro App Suport 3. When I begin to play the piece, I get the "System Overload" message every few seconds. (The audio engine was not able to process all required data in time. (-10011). In the CPU window, the right column is never active, while the left column mostly says at 1/4, sometimes spiking to 3/4's. I press the "continue" button and begin to play again. The CoreAudio alert repeats a dozen times as I continue through the piece until I reach the last note I've been able to record.
Then, I can suddenly play back from the beginning of the song, all the way through without the error message at all. It is as if the computer stops when it tries to process each new sample, but once it has played through all of them, it handles them easily. However, once I can play the whole piece, adding a new sample (a large sample like performance legato) doesn't trigger the alert message. I only get it when I am first beginning to play through the piece.
I have an external Firewire HD by LaCie to store my samples, so that on the laptop, 37.91 GB's of 55.76 GB capacity are available. I use EXS 24 samples only, Solo Strings from VSL, with Core Audio (till I get more acquainted with Logic 7 and decide what I need). The piece is a string quartet, so even though I have 80 samples on different tracks, there are only 4 notes playing at once at any time. The only plug ins are platinumverb and gain, and the problem continues with these plug-ins "bypassed."
I have been reading the discussion board and took advice given about upgrading to Logic 7.0.1, and getting Pro Application Support 3.1. The problems I experienced have not been corrected.
I decided to use CoreAudio until I became more familiar with the program, and I realize with a three year old laptop, I must be pushing the system to the limit. But then again, it plays easily once I have slugged through the error messages. I ereased my HD and reinstalled Logic a few weeks ago. That did not fix the problem either. ( I upgraded to 10.4 to use Toast 7, but then I was unable to use my modem. After 72 hours of Apple support trouble shooting via telephone, I was told to erase my hard drive and reinstall everything. I did so and the problem wasn't fixed. I then talked to someone who knew of a bug in 10.4. I didn't have to erase the HD after all. I was told the bug was fixed in 10.4.2)
The second problem involves saving. I save this piece as a "project." I can use the "save" option without a crash, but 99% of the time, if I use the "save as" option, I get the "beach ball of death" and send yet another report to Apple.
How is my laptop able to process the data in time once I slog through all the alert messages telling me it cannot? Does anyone know of a "save as" fix?
    Much Obliged!
    Billy

I'm not sure if you have this, and mis-typed or something, but Logic 7.1 (the update you pay for) and the 7.0.1 and Pro App Support solved this problem for me. However, we installed them all at once so I don't know which fixed the "Save As..." glitch....
Regarding the other query, I sometimes get this too - the computer seems to think there's too much information even though it's already been playing it all, and even if you mute all but one of the channels! (in fact - I think I recall it refusing to play even when all tracks are muted... christ...)
Generally I have to restart the app (and maybe the computer). This always does the trick for me.
    Hope this helps,
    Best,
    Mickey.

  • Selecting disc using [File, Open] or [File, Save (as)] crashes application

I'm working in an application (doesn't matter which one, it's persistent in all apps) and choose [File, Open] (or [File, Save as].
Then I want to go to one of my HD's, so I want to select the HD.
But then all of a sudden, upon clicking for the desired HD in the upper left corner, the application quits, it doesn't even freeze, it simply quits...and I'm losing the non saved data I was working on..
This goes for only one specific HD in my setup. My Macintosh HD I can use without a problem.
Strangely enough when I work with the specific HD directly in the Finder there does not seems to be a problem, everything works fine.
I did " Repair disk" (no problem found) and "Repair permissions" (both from the Tiger DVD), but the problem still exists.
I created a new account, problem is exactly the same for the new account
I trashed com.apple.finder.plist and com.apple.sidebarlists.plist but no luck
I tried to watch in crash reports, but the crashes do not seem to get logged.
I hope anyone has a clue what's going on and how I can repair this? This is really annoying

  • Auto-save a) crashes AE and b) will not turn off via preferences

I seem to be in an endless loop of AE starting, auto-saving, and crashing.
I reported a bug earlier of AE crashing if auto-save begins during a Warp Track. I thought I could defeat this behavior by turning off auto-save in preferences, but, even with that (the save box is unchecked), auto save starts within a minute of opening a project, and freezes AE (staying at 0% Completed indefinitely).
I've deleted AE preferences, verified that auto-save is off, and the problem continues.
Any suggestions of how to defeat this would be very welcome. Thanks!

Caught in the act. After restarting, fixing permissions, reverting to a early (pre-tracking) version of the project, and verifying that auto-save is still turned off, AE tried to auto-save during a track (this time the stabilize phase) and froze.
One possible new detail - it only attempts to auto-save when the tracking footage window is in the foreground. Is it possible that AE auto-save settings do not affect the tracker when it is in the foreground? I worked several minutes without interruption in another comp before returning to see the track, and apparently triggering the auto-save somehow.
    Thanks for any help.

  • FileReference.save() Causing Crash?

    Hello again all,
I'm currently using the FileReference class to allow users of my program to save and load files from their PC. I'm currently trying to get the save function to work (I'll do load later) and it all seems to be working perfectly but while testing it (locally) it crashes Flash Player every time it saves.
The code is pretty simple just now (this is contained in an event handler which triggers when the save button is pressed):
    var levelData:String = GetLevelData();
    var outputFileName:String = "NewLevel.txt";
    saveFile = new FileReference();
    saveFile.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, SaveCompleteHandler);
    saveFile.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, SaveIOErrorHandler);
    saveFile.save(levelData, outputFileName);
And it all works fine - the NewLevel.txt file appears where I want it to and contains the correct data. But as soon as this has completed Flash Player quits and I get the 'Flash Player Quit Unexpectadly' message. There are no errors in the output from my code. The SaveCompleteHandler function has been called and the SaveIOErrorHandler function has not.
Could this be a bug in Flash player? I'm using a Mac and have encountered a few bugs with the Mac version so I wouldn't be surprised if this was another one. I did a quick search on google and couldn't see anything though. Anyone have any ideas what's causing it?

    Hello all
I am having a similar problem, but different enough to merit it's own post. Any help v. gratefully received:

I have Ivory, Kontakt 3, & Fab Four instantiated and running nicely.
    I am using an M-Audio profire 26 connected through a Glyph 500g.
They are connected on the firewire bus in this order mac>Glyph>profire
    The problem is:
when I try to "save as" MainStage crashes after giving me (1) bonk tone.
I am currently configuring a redundant rig and would like to work out the bugs before I program the second machine.
If there is anyone that can see a problem with my set up or can suggest an update or different config... I will be grateful.
I love MainStage but I can have this type of bug in my system,
    Thanks!

    ok cool. thanks mang
i think i fixed it. i tried deleting each patch one by one then trying "save as" each time i deleted...
one I deleted the sitar patch (running in fab four, by east west) i could "save as" with no problems.
however, i do have multiple instantiations of fab four that are running properly, only the sitar patch was suspect.
    make sense...?
not a glitch in MA per se. i think this was a 3rd party software issue.
    but you never know.

  • Save'n crash

Hi there, Im stuck with a very bad problem; once on 15 time aprox, when I save my logic session, instead of saving, it crashes. This is kind of anoying of course, and I figured out that It might be my sound online libraries that causes the crash because when I save, sometime (not all the time) Logic reload all AU instruments that are opened in the session. This is were, I think, sometime it cause Logic to crashes. So here is my question: Is there any way to prevent Logic from reloading all patchs when I save? Anyway, this is a lost of time, even if it wouldnt cause a crash, this is an anoying lost of time when you work with big sounds, some of them takes 2-5 minutes to load, even on my brand new 12core...

Although unfortunately, I can't say exactly why, It seems that my system has stabilized during the past few days. During this time, I did install a new version of Marketcircle's Billings, but I can't say for sure that it was the cause. In the meantime, I have completely uninstalled Suitcase Fusion and will try to rely exclusively on Font Book for a while. One thing I noticed this morning is that I had a few duplicate fonts that needed to be "Resolved" (under Edit menu, "Resolve Duplicates"). So, perhaps you were correct in suggesting that the issues were font related.
    Thanks again!
