Saved sequences in Premiere Pro CC acting oddly, striped clips, green clips, blue clips...

Rather new user to PP. Can't even find this question asked anywhere.
1. The other day, I created some sequences. Each sequence has its own bin and the source footage is in the bin.
2. Today I open up the sequences and though the source footage is intact & shows in the preview pane, it does not appear in the Program pane. Instead, the clips are either blue striped or just blue. The striped ones don't play audio or video. The blue ones only play audio.
3. So, I made a test sequence. I imported the footage again, placed it in its own bin with the test sequence. Added some clips to the sequence. Closed the project & reopened it. The sequence was duplicated somehow. Dup #1 plays perfectly. Dup #2 appears with the clip having a green bar instead of blue, and the clips have merged together in the sequence.
What the heck is going on?
Striped & blue clips. No visual for either. Audio only for blue.
Green clip that merged from 2 clips to 1 in a duplicated sequence that I did not do.
"Normal" Blue clip in test sequence. This is the one that Premiere duplicated, merged, and changed green after closing/reopening project.

I've restarted it several times, and actually other projects are working like clockwork in Premiere, so I think it has to do with the source file links.
I moved all the source files to a new folder, and when I opened this project again, almost all of the sequences were back to normal ... except for one. It duplicated itself, merged all the clips together & turned green (like the image I posted earlier). So what does this green bar mean? Why is it duplicating sequences & merging the clips together within the sequences?

  • I'm trying to import a sequence into premiere pro and suddenly a few sections are 'media offline'

I'm trying to import a previous premiere pro sequence into premiere pro and suddenly a few sections are 'media offline' (it has always worked up until now).  I would be able to relink the clips but the offending ones aren't showing up in the project's clip bin. To make things worse I can't drag and drop the corresponding clips from my finder into the clips bin and then 'replace clip with' in the timeline, as the clips in the project have been renamed, and are synced up to audio (this is a 90 minute feature film).
    Can anyone help??!!

Right click on the offline clips and select Reveal in Project.  This will call up the bin they're in, where you'll be able to relink.

  • Error message: previous version saved in adobe premiere pro

    Greetings all,
PrEl 7 shut down unexpectedly when I tried to save a portion of my timeline as an avi.  When I re-opened it, I got the error message previous version of this project saved in adobe premiere pro and it would not allow me to open it.
What can I do to restore the project; I'm in the finishing stages.
    Thanks,
    Antoinette

There have been a couple of similar threads, and some are fairly recent. I do not recall if there was ever a resolution. It also seems that people have looked at the XML code in the PREL files, and their header info clearly stated PrElements, and not PrPro, yet something is not being read correctly by PrE.
Now, do you have any AutoSave versions of the PREL? Note: the default is five AutoSaves, and these are overwritten, once one has gotten the five. Check the Time/Date of each, as 003 might be later than 005.
If I can find some of those threads, I will post links to them, and also refresh my memory on any solutions.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Is the tiff image sequence in premiere pro cs4 lossless?

is the tiff image sequence export in premiere pro cs4 lossless or lossy?

    Hi,
Yeah, that  IS an interesting question...When I looked into the quality exported individual frames I stuck it into photoshop and looked at the mode and image size to see what I was getting ...
I was kinda ( am still very ) impressed with the quality of the individual images Premiere exports in it's sequences.. and I suppose you could say it is lossless but in part that would be referenced to , " Lossless compared to what ? "
If I put TIFF images into the timeline to begin with and then got them out again, then it would probably be lossy depending on ppi going in. It's like 72 coming out.
But anyway, the quality is pretty darn good, I have to say...when you export TIFs...

  • How to Import Multiple Image Sequences into - Premiere 'Pro'

    Hi ;-)
    1) I added a bug report about this 4 years ago  -- Is this STILL not possible ;-))))
I have 200 Sequences sitting each in its own folder. As of now - then year of the Lord 2014, I have to physically select each folder and add them one by one...
    This is almost funny...
Perhaps I am missing the extreme obvious --- Either that or Premiere Pro is.
    Any Help is greatly appreciate
    Thanks

Jim, when selecting the blackmagic2 level, the only available option is File Directory:
This doesn't happen with RED files, where you can choose between File Directory and RED from the first level. Unlike blackmagic's DNG clips, RED files can be imported all at once, so maybe that's the whole problem:
And yes, Source Settings are available for RED files, whereas they are not for DNG (only basic information, not raw manipulation):

  • Exporting a sequence from Premiere Pro CC is taking hours

I am new again to Premiere after a 10 year hiatus. I have Premiere Pro CC and as exciting as it is to have the entire suite of products, I feel like resorting to iMovie after trying to export. I was initially getting acquainted with After Effects and solved my render times there after a little frustration, but this seems to be taking me down!
I am creating a "movie" that will be projected on a 4:3 aspect, 20'x15' screen. I created a sequence that's 4 minutes long and it's got a .mov that I rendered from After Effects at the beginning,  then a bunch of still images that each last around 5 seconds with a cross dissolve in between each. In the middle there is another .mov from After Effects (bubble effects).
I created the sequence with settings of: Editing Mode - QuickTime DV NTSC, 29.97 fps.
When I try to export the sequence, I use QuickTime for the format; the preset is NTSC DV. This sets the video codec to DV25 NTSC. I've tried rendering with this codec and changing the codec to mpeg-4. I've also rendered with the quality set to as low as 65% with the mpeg-4 codec.
Each time, the "Estimted Time Remaining" just climbs and climbs. I've managed to get to 13% encoded and the time remaining is around an hour, but keeps climbing with each percent rendered.
    I have a 27" iMac with 3.1 ghz Intel Core i5 processor, 4gb memory and running OS X 10.7.5
If anyone can help me with export settings or a way to decrease the time, I'd very much appreciate it. I have searched for this topic and each solution I found involves exporting for the web.

  • I takes 70 hours to export a sequence in Premiere Pro/ Media Encoder

    Hi,
I am having a lot of trouble with Media Encoder and Premiere Pro CS4. I'm trying to export a sequence that is only 3 minutes long and it's taking 70 hours to export- it usually taked 6 hours or just overnight to export. Below is the screen shots of the settings. Help.Thank you

Thank you for your response and help. I don't think I'm scalling up the frame rate. Attached is some screen shots of the info.  Honestly codecs are a bit confusing for me but I think the codec is H.264
What should my bitrate be? It said for maximum quality increase bitrate and honestly I'm really dissatisfied with the quality, it's a HD camera - Canon XA10 and I feel the picture quality isn't up to par with other HD footage I've seen. I'm thinking it's something I'm doing wrong in the post settings somewhere.

  • Render quality drops when importing sequences from Premiere Pro CS4

    Hello,
I have both AE and Premiere Pro CS4, and, because my Media Encoder doesn't work (a common problem, apparently), I import my sequences into AE to render. However, I've noticed a marked drop in quality in the sequence when imported into AE as opposed to when it's in Premiere Pro. It's comparable to a "Full" dropping to a "Half" when changing preview render quality in AE. What am I doing wrong? Is there some simple way to match the quality of the AE Comp (that has the PP sequence in it) to what the original Premiere Pro project has? Should I not be putting the PP project into a new comp in AE before I render it out? Is there another way that can retain the quality of the original Premiere Pro project?
This is urgent, as I need this rendered by Monday. Any help would be appreciated! Obviously, this is the first major project I've done this "workaround" with. I wish AME worked, but it doesn't for me.
    Thanks!

By default, the Ram preiew resolution is adaptative and not full quality, as it's just to "preview". You can switch this behavior to full quality, and by default, when you render, it will always be "Full quality" before being compressed by your output module.
You can check the Ram preview doc and the rendering doc from the AE help.
    Hope that helps,
    Seb

  • Encoder taking an age to process sequences from Premiere Pro CC

    Hi
Relative newbie so please bear with.
I have a large number of Premiere Pro sequences that I need to encode to a custom setting. The source footage is HD MTS. The custom setting for export is H.264, 960 x 540, 25, 2.5mbp, 2 pass (to go to itunes-U).
    I'm on a Macbook Pro, 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7, 8gb 1600 MHz DDR3 with a Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB.
A twenty minute sequence with no filters/fx added and no other programmes running is taking my machine upward of 3hrs to encode - does this sound right? A colleague, running a similar setup (I'm awaiting exact specs) pops them out in fifteen minutes.
Is there anything I can do to speed up or are there any known issues?
    Many thanks

    Hi Kevin,
    Thank you for your response.
After looking in to it further, I don't think I am able to enable GPU acceleration with my Intel graphics card. Are you able to confirm that this is correct or suggest how I might enable it?
It takes the same time from 8.1 projects or projects updated to 8.01.
    I'm running 10.9.5 OS X.
    Thank you for your assistance.
    Kind regards,
    John

  • NO SEQUENCE PREVIEW PREMIERE PRO CC

I'm having an error message for premiere pro cc that said project contained a sequence that could be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type.

What kind(s) of file(s) are in your sequence?
Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?

  • How to obtain proper aspect ratios for sequences in Premiere Pro?

I'm posting it here, because I use AE SDK for the effect.
I've got a RED sequence in Premiere that is 2048x1152. The footage is 2816x2304 anamorphic 2:1. The sequence preview is 1920x1080, like any Premiere preset over HD. I can't seem to get the proper size and aspect ratio to resize the UI controls and position the effect.
    Normally I'd use this:
    scale_x *= (PF_FpShort) in_data->pixel_aspect_ratio.den / (PF_FpShort) in_data->pixel_aspect_ratio.num;
    scale_x *= (PF_FpShort) in_data->downsample_x.num / (PF_FpShort) in_data->downsample_x.den;
    scale_y *= (PF_FpShort) in_data->downsample_y.num / (PF_FpShort) in_data->downsample_y.den;
But in this case it doesn't seem to work. Also standard procedures for UI resizing from SDK examples fail.
How can I obtain the proper aspect ratio and sizes?
    Thanks in advance.

Premiere Pro is not well designed for this type of collaborative work flow.  That's not to say something can't be made to work, just that it may not be as seamless as you'd like.
For starters, there's no way to really 'merge' the changes made by two different people working on the same project, so one of the primary rules you'll have to implement is that only one person at a time can work on any given project, and you'll have to be in constant communication as to who is working on which project, with person A leaving it alone until person B gives the go-ahead.  At which point B will have to leave it alone until A gives the go-ahead.  If you don't do this, your changes will overwrite each other and you'll get nowhere.
Second thing to be aware of is that clip markers are stored with the media, so while sending only the project file back and forth is fine for most things, it won't work with clip markers.  You'll also need to transfer whatever media files have the markers.  Given the relatively large size of media compared to project files, it may be best to simply forgo using clip makers.
If the hard drive setup is not identical on both machines, you may have to relink the media with every swap of project files.

  • Cannot drag Audio Transitions or Audio Effects to Sequences in Premiere Pro 6.0.5

Have reinstalled Premiere Pro 6.0.5 because I cannot drag Audio Transitions or Effects to any Timeline sequences in my Projects. Have tried modifier keys, but to no avail. Any suggestions to fix this problem? Thanks

You're not trying to drag them to a sequence in a bin, are you?  That won't work.
