Saving MS Word Document to Database

My question is how would I go about saving a MS Word document to a 9i Database. I am using webforms, so using an OLE object wont work. I am using a JavaBean to get the file name, but that is all i can come up with so far. I have a column in my database of type Long Raw which I intend to store the binary Word file in. If you know how I can save this MS Word file, please let me know, your help is much appreciated.

With this code, you can load file (filename)into word:
for Windows NT
Runtime.getRuntime().exec(new String[]{"cmd", "/c", "start winword.exe \""+filename+"\""});
for Windows 98
Runtime.getRuntime().exec(new String[]{"cmd", "/c", "start winword.exe \""+filename+"\""});
Later use fileupload utility to load you file into forms server

how can i store a word document in database through forms 6i or 10g, and display it through forms from database.
i know how to store a binary file in database through DBMS_LOB package, but i want to do it throug forms. is it possible?

"Create a datablock and specify the item datatype as blob"
BUT: How to bring the document to the blob?
    Hi user 611..
Warning: It is easy if you use an OLE-Object - but OLE is a special format. The result will not be the same as with dbms_LOB.
We have a application with documents stored via OLE - terrible!
OLE is no longer supported by forms 10. But webutil would help.

  • Inserting a MS Word document into database

    Hello friends at www.oracle.com,
we need to insert contents from our Microsoft Word documents into an Oracle database. That is, we need to create a Forms program where we can open and select a MS Word file, and insert its contents into a table; for example, MS_DOCUMENTS.
    Thanks, and best regards,
    Franklin Gonçalves Jr.

    Hello Duncan,
If this is on the web then WebUtil provides
everything you need. If it's on Client Server you
can use the OLE Container item type. no, it's not on the Web.
I want to insert Word documents that are in my directories into database, and I've read that it can be done via BLOB table columns.
I'd like to insert these documents and retrieve them later. Could you please tell me something about it?
    Sincere thanks for your help.
    Best regards,

  • Saving MS Word document in HTML and importing

The Word doc is over 4MB with linked TOC, text, and text
boxes filled with text from mainframe applications. The text boxes
are difficult to control - non-symetrical and, in some instances,
overlapping. The text boxes are Fireworks gifs housed in a separate
folder (Assets, if you will) and there's about 390 of these gifs.
Would it be better to replace the Word text boxes with
Fireworks gifs? The problem I encountered with that is, on the Word
document in the web site, the gifs are not as clear as the text
    boxes-kind of fuzzy.
Is there a better way to place such a large document into the
site rather than using MS Word and saving it as HTML?
I appreciate any helpful suggestions on better control of the
gifs and the Word document or any other suggestions?

You can kill off all history and save a "final" copy in Word.
    That is
recommended practice before you publish to the web anyway.
    Though given the
description of the Word doc in question I'd second Darrel's
    suggestion to
    use a PDF.

  • Disk is full message when saving a word document

When I try to save my word document it says "the disk is full trying to save to Macintosh HD, please clear up some space or try saving to another disk." But I checked and I have 129GB of free space on my hard drive. It says the same thing when I try to save to my USB drive. What should I do?

    What version of MS Word?
Where are you trying to save the document?
Is that the exact wording of the message?

  • Saving a Word document to pdf - dropping letters when printed

I have a client that is saving a document created in Microsoft Word 2007 as a PDF file. After saving the PDF file they are distributing the PDF to their staff as well as users outside of the office. When the PDF file is printed the printed copy is missing a combination of letters, such as "ie" or "ti" or "li" etc. The user herself has printed the PDF file from both her work PC and her home PC with the same results.
Adobe Reader 9 (v9.3.0.148) in a terminal server environment (Windows Server 2008SP2)
Microsoft Office 2007 all updates installed.
Anyone have any ideas, I have tried most of the fixes that I found from others but noting that keeps permanently.
    Thanks, Joe.

Not Reader causing it. It's how the PDF was created. Your samples are all what are called ligatures and the font information for those ligatures are not being embedded in the PDF when it is created. You would need to ask Microsoft how to do that if you are using their product to create the PDF.

  • Saving a word document with Apple Mail

    Hi,
I emailed an Excel document to myself on from a remote location. When I got home, I opened it, within Apple email. I worked on the file and would hit apple-key / s to save. It would make the typical save sound.
I closed the document and shutdown. The next time I opened the document, it was not updated at all. There were no other documents of the same name on my desktop, nor in my Documents folder. Nothing but the file name in the downloaded email documents appears when I search the finder or Spotlight.
    Why did this happen?
Does the updated document exist anywhere? And is it recoverable?
    Thanks, John

look for that document in homefolder/library/mail downloads.
next time, drag the doc to your desktop and open from there, or if you open from Leopard Mail, then make sure you save as and point to where you would like it saved.
    hope this helps

  • SharePoint prompting for password when saving word document

Saving a word document back to SharePoint always prompts for credentials.
I am the administrator for a SharePoint farm. We have enabled kerberos, and added the portal to the intranet zone in Internet Explorer by group policy. Most of the time this limits the amount of password prompts our customers see (including viewing the portal
in a browser, and opening documents); however, we are still getting the prompt for credentials when trying to save a word document back to SharePoint.
Here are some details: - SharePoint 2010 - Word 2010 - Kerberos enabled - Portal added to intranet zone in IE - Checkbox for passing automatic credentials enabled
Can anyone help? Is there something I've missed? Is this prompt just unavoidable?

    Hi,
Internet Explorer uses the Web Client service when you use Internet Explorer to access a
WebDAV resource. The Web Client Service uses Windows HTTP Services (WinHTTP) to perform the network I/O to the remote host.  WinHTTP sends user credentials only in response to requests that occur on a local intranet site.
However, WinHTTP does not check the security zone
settings in Internet Explorer to determine whether a Web site is in a zone that lets credentials be sent automatically.
Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press
    ENTER.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click
    Multi-String Value.
Type AuthForwardServerList, and then press ENTER.
On the Edit menu, click Modify.
In the Value data box, type the URL of the server that hosts the Web share, and then click
    OK.
Note   You can also type a list of URLs in the
Value data box. For more information, see the "Sample URL list" section in this article.
    Exit Registry Editor.
After this registry entry is created, the WebClient service will read the entry value. If the client computer tries to access a URL that matches any of the expressions in the list,   the user credential will be sent successfully to authenticate
the user, even if no proxy is configured.
Note You have to  restart the WebClient service after you modify the registry.

  • Pages 'Word' documents can no longer be opened in LibreOffice

I used to be able to open documents created and  saved as 'Word' documents in Pages with LibreOffice Writer.
    This is no longer possible.
I can still open documents created with Microsoft office and saved with the .doc extension in LibreOffice Writer.
Is Pages now saving the documents in a non stanard 'Word' format?
I have the latest version on the Word App on my iPad and I am using LibreOffice Writer Version 3.6.2.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:2))

No, there was no time-limiting on that feature, it should still be there. It sounds like you're having a problem with Word files no longer being associated with Pages as the default. I'm guessing that dragging a Word file onto the Pages icon on your Dock would open it... is that correct? If so, select a Word file and choose File -> Get Info. In the Open With section, change the selection to Pages and click the Change All button. (Note that this is assuming that the Word files have the appropriate .doc or .docx extension.)
