Saving pages into pdf

I recently composed a several page Christmas letter (pics and text) and wanted to take it to a commercial printer for hard copies. The commercial printers are not Mac compatible so he told me to save it in a PDF format and they would use that. I was unable to read the saved Pages PDF file on my PC when saved to a CD disk. However when I save the PDF file to an SD card, I can then open and read it on my PC. When I view the CD on my PC, it shows no files at all on the CD. So I do now have the file to take to the printer via SD card, but am confused as to why I could not save it to the cd disk. The saved file on cd could however be read on my Mac when I would open it there, just not on my PC. Suggestions??

Thanks all. I'm not certain I understand the ISO, NTSF talk, but when I burned the PDF to the cd instead of just copying, my PC and Mac could both open the file. Thanks again. This is why these forums are here. sometimes I need the "MacBook for Dummies" manual.......

  • Save Web page into PDF in Windows 7 32 bit for Adobe 7

When security under Internet options in Internet Explorer runs with "Enable Protected Mode" checked, can not save web page into PDF. The version of Adobe is 7.

Are you saying you cannot print to the Adobe PDF printer or what. You have to be more complete in your description since AA7 will not fully work in Win7. You will have to use workarounds, but knowing what steps you are using is important to giving any help. Just saying save does not help. Of course, you might be able to use the MS plugin for creating PDFs as an alternative if you only have AA7. One thing that you find with AA7 is that PDF Maker will likely not work and also the printer will have to be a print to file, followed with a use of Distiller to complete the PDF creation. The AA7 version of AcroTray that does a lot of the work in the background should not be expected to work with Win 7, thus the need for workarounds.

  • How can I create a link that allows users to convert a Wiki pages into PDF format.

I am working on an enterprise Wiki library site collection, but I want to create a link named “Convert to PDF” , which allow users to convert the current Wiki into a pdf file. I need this link to be displayed some where in all the exsiting Wikis pages, and
on any new wiki page. Can anyone advice if there is already such as capability within sharePoint 2013.
    Thanks

    Hi,
For your requirement, we can add this link to the master page, then it will appear in the pages which apply this master page.
To convert the current page to PDF, you can take consideration of using jsPDF.

  • Cannot insert pages into PDFs after signed with a digital signature in adobe 9

Is there any workaround that allows me to insert additional pages into a SIGNED pdf?
    Background:
Author of a form create a form that needs multiple signatures and pages appended and converts to PDF for signing. Person 1 signs it, and sends it to person 2. Person 2 needs to include additional documentation and inserts the pages before signing.
In the new version, I noticed that it changes the document security which may prevent the insert after you sign it. How do I disable this?

    Hi Bob,
You may not like the answer, but it cannot be disabled. In previous versions, when you added a page it invalidated the signature. Starting with Acrobat 9, once the PDF file is signed you can no longer make changes that effect the content of the core PDF. The change was made to protect the integrity of the signature. You can still add comments, but (without getting too geeky) comments are not part of the core PDF like pages are, they live in a separate level. Also, you can still add form data, but like comments, what you type into a form field is not part of the core PDF.
The bottom line is, we made the change to protect the integrity of the signture, and the signature protects the integrity of the document. Thus, changes to the document are no longer allowed in signed files.

  • How do I convert a FrameMaker file containing both Portrait and Landscape pages into PDF?

I have recently converted to FrameMaker 9 and Acrobat 9. In the FrameMaker manual I am creating, most of the pages have Portait orientation, but some have Landscape orientation. However, when I convert the manual to PDF using Acrobat Distiller, the Landscape pages become Portrait. This wasn't a problem when I converted the manual into PDF in previous versions of Acrobat Distiller, it appeared after I installed Acrobat 9. In other words, the FrameMaker file has worked before. I have also tried this on three different computers to make sure the computer is not the problem. Does anybody have any ideas that I could try to make this work?

Jorunn, did you ever resolve this problem? If not, I've got a solution for you.
In FrameMaker, select the book you want to create a PDF of, click File > Print, and select Adobe PDF as your printer.
Click Properties and make sure you have the selections you want.
Back on the Print Setup dialog, leave the Paper and Orientation as both Letter and Portrait respectively.
On the Print Book dialog, select Print to File and browse to the correct location. Make certain to save this as a PostScript file (name.ps) and at the Safe Book As field, you want Single File selected.
Again on the Print Book dialog, click the checkbox for Generate Adobe Data and click PDF Setup. On the PDF Setup for Selected Files dialog, at the PDF Job Options, select Press Quality or make the appropriate choices for your situation for Settings, Bookmarks, Tags, and Links.
With Adobe Distiller open, File > Open and browse to the .ps file you indicated earlier. Also verify your Default Settings for the PDF are correct. When Distiller is finished, you can double-click the PDF file to open it and check that your portrait and landscape pages show correctly.

  • Preview Won't Insert Pages Into .PDF from File

Preview - Edit - Insert - Page from File doesn't work since upgrading to Yosemite.  Dragging and dropping the .pdf pages from one Preview window to the document in another Preview windows does not work either.  It appears that the command is executed (dragging and dropping shows the green circle with the white plus when I drop) but nothing happens.
In the end I just need to add four .pdf pages from one document to an existing .pdf document.  This function worked fine and I became accustomed to easily adding/deleting/organizing pages in .pdf documents using Preview with Mavericks.  I have restarted and shut down the computer multiple times including opening and closing preview and the documents I'm using.  Any thoughts?

    Works for me.
    Open a PDF File
Navigate to where want a page inserted.
Go to Edit ===> Insert ===> From Scanner or Page from File or Blank Page
Preview will insert page below the page.
It is not as good a tool as some other software for fiddling with PDFs but it works.

  • Saving data into PDF

I am new bee, I appreciate if some one can guide me how to
save data from grid to PDF using FLEX.
    Thanks.

    Hi Sasha,
Using Acrobat, you can create forms that are called AcroForms. The forms created in LC Designer are called XFA (XML Forms Architecture) and are more data centric. While both will open in Acrobat, they are completely different animals.
The issue with users not being able to save the data with Reader is that the form is not Reader Enabled. You can Reader Enable a form using one of two methods:
Reader Enable the form using Acrobat Professional (V8 or below) or Acrobat Standard (V9 or above). Note there are licensing restrictions.
Reader Enable the form using the full server product Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2.5. This involves additional licensing fees.
Have a look here: http://assure.ly/etkFNU, at the features that are available depending on whether the user has Acrobat or Reader; if the form is Reader Enabled; and how the form was Reader Enabled.
The issue of Reader Enabling would also apply to AcroForms.
I don't think that you need to dive into LC Designer just yet, as forms created in LC Designer face the same issues about Reader Enabling as forms developed in Acrobat.
If your usage complies with the EULA, then you could Reader Enable your form in Acrobat.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • Problems turning Illustrator pages into PDFs at the SAME SIZE...?

Something weird is happening for me, when I attempt to turn Illustrator layouts in PDFs or maybe it's "normal" for Acrobat to do this, but I don't like it and I want to fix it...
I have a page laid out in Illustrator. It's RGB, 1024x768 pixels in size, and has various JPGs at 72dpi placed on the page, and it has text on it too.
Everything is laid out pixel-perfect, and when I view it at 100% size in Illustrator, that's the size I want to the PDF to be as well, when the PDF is viewed at 100% size. The PDF is going to be viewed on-screen and the images contained in the file have various lines and suchlike in it that absolutely have to be viewed at 100% size, or they appear all blurry.
So I have my Illustrator document, at 100% size, and it looks perfect. I go to File > Save A Copy and save a version of it as a PDF.
I use the Illustrator Default settings (which, when I go through them all one by one, would indicate to me nothing about a file size conversion, no downsampling, etc.) and my PDF is generated.
However... when I then open up the PDF file in Acrobat Professional, the page it has created is way larger than my Illustrator page. So if I view my new PDF at 100% size, not only has the 72dpi image gone all blurry, but the boundaries of the page extend off the edge of my screen.
I would hazard a guess that in order to get my PDF to appear at the size it *should* be, I have to view it in Acrobat at *about* 75% - but the images are still blurry, because of the re-sizing.
So all I'm asking is for a simple way to get what's in Illustrator to convert to PDF at the same size.
Surely there must be a way?
    Any help anyone?
I'm using Illustrator CS3 13.0.2 and Acrobat Professional 8.1.2, running on Mac OS X 10.5.2 on Intel.

    > You can't. Well, YOU can, by adjusting your resolution setting in Acrobat...
    >No, even *I* can't. *MY* views in Acrobat and Illustrator of the SAME document, when BOTH viewed at 100% are DIFFERENT sizes.
Because you haven't adjusted your resolution settings.
    >And what do you mean by "adjusting your resolution setting in Acrobat" anyway? I *assume* you mean by adjust your view magnification settings?
No, that is your current magnification. Your resolution is set in the
"page display" section of Acrobat's preferences. Each user can set it
    differently.
    >But if I lay out a document or image intended for print in InDesign or Quark or Photoshop, the way I see it when I view it 100% size will be exactly the same as anyone else on any other computer will see it when viewed at 100% size.
    Not in Acrobat.
    > Acrobat is also used to create on-screen presentations, complete with hyperlinks and page transitions options, which obviously have no use in the print world.
Indeed. And people have free choice of how to view them. What you
can't do is do pixel-level design. You can control the open options,
like what magnification, whether the full page is visible, but you
can't control how many pixels that uses, so you cannot match it to
    some other application.

  • How to make Adobe acrobat feature to convert SAP  Pages to PDF available for multiple users connected to the same server

We have installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro- English,Francais,Deutsch version 10.1.9 in our test environment and tried  testing it for converting SAP pages into PDF with a few pilot users. In doing so we faced a challenge, where only one user at a time can use Adobe Acrobat PRO to convert SAP pages in to PDF.As long as the first user who  is connected to Adobe Acrobat Pro via SAP isn’t logged off, other users connected to the same  server  are not being able to get the “Save As” dialog box to save the PDF in their preferred location.
This is a business requirement and we need an urgent solution for the same. Can anyone help us in telling us if this is possible and if yes the how to go about?

It's not something we deal with here, the LiveCycle products are a different world. Key points: Adobe LiveCycle is a range of products, some desktop, some server. LiveCycle PDF Generator is the one you should look at, it comes in 3 editions. License terms are by negotiation. Key management is via its Java API.

    Hi,
We have a brand new PDF library for LabVIEW. Release date is in october. The library can create pdfs, with all kinds of text writing and picture stuff. It works stand alone, so there is no need for other programs. It should also be platform independend.
If your interested, drop me a mail. I can send you mail when it's released. Maybe we can give you a "beta test", if you send use your findings.

  • Converting HTML into PDF

    Hello ABAP Experts,
I have a request to convert a HTML Response (FM: HTTP2_GET) into a PDF Document.
Has any body an idea how to handle that.
Thank you very much for you answers.
    Kind regards
    Axel

The easiest way to convert web pages/sites into PDF is with Acrobat! Important: this is Acrobat (costs a few dollars) and not Acrobat Reader!
Acrobat has a web capture tool. With the older version I tested there was some minor problems.
    (1) It is not recognized as a browser we support. You will have to knock out the browser checking for this to work. Look at the cl_htmlb_content->runtime_validation. The last case statement. Modify your system to temporarily comment this out. (Do not forget to place it back!).
    (2) The older version I tested with had problems to convert complex pages into PDF. The new rendering we use is to browser specific. Your milage might vary.
Alternative could be just to "print" the page from the browser into a PDFWriter (kind of printer driver that comes with Acrobat). This actually worked very well.
Alternative is just to make screenshots into word document and convert this into PDF.
    > Please help me ..
With this, I think we have now helped you. In return, you can help us with a nice append (or better a small weblog) about the "huge project that was a challange". These war stories shared by the fire side makes for interesting reading, and I am sure other people would also be interested in seeing what you achieved. Looking forward to it.
