Saving part of fillable form as non-fillable pdf

I have created a form in LiveCycle Designer.
The top part of the form needs to be filled in by one office, and then once the fields are filled in they need to be "locked" for editing and sent on to a third party.
The third party needs to have the option of filling out the bottom part of the form without being able to modify the top part.
Is this possible?
I see in other threads that someone created a 'Lock all Fields' button.  However, I don't know how to write script that would customize the button to lock only certain fields.
Also, I tested that document; the Lock button does work, but when you save the form and email it, the form fields become unlocked.
Are there any ideas on how to make this button work so that once the fields are locked, they stay locked?

Here are some postes that can help you....
http://forums.adobe.com/message/2134982#2134982
http://forums.adobe.com/message/2125137#2125137
the first URL has one samle PDF attached which has "Lock All Fields" button at the bottom. I checked the script and it is prepared to handle each subform individually withe the line of code in 'click' event myScriptObject.LockAllFields(form1); the user is passing entire form in this case but if you pass just the subform name that you wish to lock that will work....incase you need to lock more than one subform you would modify code to following...
myScriptObject.LockAllFields(sub1);
myScriptObject.LockAllFields(sub2);
rest will be automatically taken care....but to open up fields that are locked you need to modify the function LockAllFields() under myScriptObject variable and add new function in the same location gvie it a new name ....like OpenAllFields()....but instead of currentElement.access
="readOnly"; you would use currentElement.access ="open"; which will help unlock the fields in that subform.
then your final script may look like under the "Lock/UnLock Fields" button.
myScriptObject.LockAllFields(sub1);
myScriptObject.LockAllFields(sub2);
myScriptObject.UnLockAllFields(sub3);
myScriptObject.UnLockAllFields(sub4);
Hope that helps.
Good luck,

    Hi,
    When you open the form pdf in your galaxy tab, first rename the document by following the steps below:
    In documents tab ->Press Manage on top right->Choose the file you want to rename->Click on rename icon, 3rd from top left->Type the new name-> Press Done.
    Now open this file->fill the form->Go back to documents-> Open the pdf again. You will see all your changes in your form.

  • Save PDF form into non editable PDF through button (SaveAs) using java script

    I am creating PDF form using LiveCycle 8.0.
    1) Using SaveAs the form in PDF (non editable) by using button and javascript
      ( app.execMenuItem("SaveAs");
         myScript.LoclAllFields("form1");) this code is not working.
    2) show / hide the field by choosing the drop down List.
    Like, In drop down list their is tree option name  a, b, c. when select "A" hide the field_A and select "B". then show the field_A.

    Thanks for that script, it is a great way of securing it from being edited, but reader still won't allow the form to be saved, only as a copy without the inputted text. The idea of what I'm trying to achieve is a form which the staff here fill out and then send to our customers with non editable fields, there is the option to print to pdf but that saves the file as an 'image', this stops people from highlighting text which we don't want, they have to be accessible afterwards to copy and paste the text at a later date.
    I hope someone can help with what should be such a simple action.

  • Saving to non-fillable PDF

    Instead of saving as a fillable pdf, I want to save my form as a static pdf for printing and/or including in white papers as an example. I'd like it to look the same as when I'm creating it in FormCentral with help text symbols, etc. Is there a way to do this, perhaps through the paid version? I have tried to take screenshots of my FormCentral design, but the resolution just isn't good enough.

    We do not support exporting into a flat PDF but you can export to a PDF file without a submit button (see under the File menu). We never show (?) in the PDF. The help text is shown when you hover over the field with the mouse.

  • Receive responses to distributed form as non-fillable PDF.

    Hello everyone,
    I have recently found the form distribution feature in acrobat 9 to be very useful in obtaining new patient information at the doctor's office where I work.  I prepare a template new patient demographic information pdf file, and email the form as I please to obtain patient demographic information.  However, I want to streamline the form management process as much as possible.  Since the forms I will be distributing include signatures, the last thing I want is for received forms to remain editable when a patient has signed off on inputted information for someone in our staff to unintentionally edit or botch in some way.  Is there any way to configure the form I created and will hopefully distribute to be sent back to the distributor (me) as a non-fillable .pdf?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    You can configure the properties of the signature field to lock the document as part of the signing process. Select the Digital Signature Properties dialog and then select the Signed tab.
    Select the Mark as read-only radio button and leave the drop-down menu set to All fields.

  • Fillable PDF to saved non-editable PDF

    I currently have a trial version of Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and Livecycle Designer ES 8.2. I am looking to create a fillable form PDF and then send it to clients who will use adobe reader to fill the form and then save it as non-editable PDF form for general usage.
    How can this be done?
    Thanks, Vijay

    Hi Michael,
    Thanks much for the response, can you help me with instructions on how I can enable extended rights? Sorry, I am not too familiar with the things in Acrobat or Livecycle.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

    Hello I am having problems viewing areas of a pdf...it's a form fillable pdf that someone else has completed and saved..I'm able to view all but the areas that have been filled in.. any info would help

    Hi Bob, I just tried your suggestion, but the interactive PDF is in spreads by default, no way to change the setting. When I choose to view by single page in Acrobat, it displays a single spread.
    When I choose to view by spreads, it displays 4 pages, two spreads. That's the topic of this whole discussion, I believe. I do own CS 6 at home, however my employer supplied me with CS 5.5. And I have very little, if any, influence on purchasing.
    So, I have no good way to make an interactive PDF (with differing recto/verso headers and footers), that is accessible and shows the correct header/footer. It's either single pages (with one header/footer), or recto/verso headers/footers but PDF only as a spread, as well as I can tell.
    Unless you know something else I can do...
    Best, Marilyn

  • Saving form as fillable pdf

    actually have two questions, first can I save my form as a fillable pdf to email others and second how do I arrange my form to have more than one field on a single line?  For instance I am creating a credit application
    and want to be able to say put the phone number field alongside the business name and so forth...thanks !!

    We just added the ability to distribute your form as a fillable PDF form and have all of the data submitted back to FormsCentral. I wrote up a forum post that explains it in more detail: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/994199
    Give it a try and please send us your feedback on it.

  • Fillable forms on non-networked android tablets

    I want to use fillable, pdf forms on our Android tablets to record practical test results for our students. These forms are filled out by instructors for each individual student. At the end of the day, the forms are to be downloaded to a stand alone PC for grading and further review.
    How can I save each individual test form as a separate file on the Android tablets. I have searched for a solution but have found nothing but a kludgy workaround. The tablets and grading PC are not networked which further compounds the issue...
    The ultimate goal is to allow an instructor to grade a student, save the grade sheet (form) as "studentname.pdf" then move on to grading the next student "studentname2.pdf". At the end of the day he would download (via usb) upwards to 5 grade sheets to our grading PC for further review.
    Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks for any help!
    BTW, is there a reason "save as" is not a feature in the Android acrobat reader?

    Hi,
    Unfortunately, the 'Save as' functionality is not available for Adobe Reader on Android. As a workaround, you can make multiple copies(duplicates) of the pdf form with different names (like studentname.pdf) and then fill out the forms individually. Please let us know if this is not a viable solution for you.

  • PDF form that submits a non-fillable PDF?

    Hello,
    Can you tell me how to create a PDF form that, when completed and submitted, emails (or stores) a PDF of the completed form that is not itself a form, but simply a PDF document?
    Thank you.

    Is it possible to create a link within a pdf-document, that opens
    another pdf-file on a certain page?
    Yes, use the link tool.

  • How do I fill in a "fillable" pdf form using my Windows 8.1 laptop?

    Obviously I'm not Adobe savvy.  I downloaded a fillable application and saved it  into the Adobe Reader file on my computer (that was the only option to save a .pdf).  What do I have to do in order to enter my data, e-sign it, and e-mail it back?  I opened the file, but am unable to click into any part of the form.  Some of it has boxes and drop-down boxes, but I cannot access them.  This is for my employer and I am feeling very foolish and inadequate right now.  Please help!  Thank you.

    Start Adobe Reader first.
    Then use Open from the File menu to open this file.
    If there isn't a file menu let us know.
    If there was a file menu, but you can't type it probably isn't fillable.

  • Hyperlinks don't work in fillable pdf forms

    I have a question for you folks and am hoping you can help me.  I am using Adobe Acrobat X Professional.  I want to create "fillable" pdf forms which include hyperlinks.  When I create a pdf form and "Save as" a "Reader extended PDF" and "Enable additional features" the hyperlinks don't work.  I save the document this way in order to produce a fill-in pdf document.  However, if I save the document as a regular pdf (i.e., not reader extended/non-fillable pdf form) then the hyperlinks work.  Any ideas how I can get the hyperlinks to work in a fillable pdf form?  Thanks!
    Chris Quarto

    Hi Michael:
    I'm sorry...I wish I knew what "autorecognized links" were.  :  (  As I mentioned in my reply to David, I created the hyperlinks in Microsoft Word before I converted the Word document to a pdf.
    I have resolved the problem and posted my step-by-step solution a few days ago, but for some reason I don't see it in this forum.  It kind of goes like this...to get hyperlinks to work with fillable pdf's:
    1. Create Microsoft Word document and save when done.
    2. While in Word, click on "Acrobat" on menu bar (assuming you have installed Adobe Acrobat X Pro on your computer) and "Create pdf;" confirm that hyperlinks work and close document.
    3. Open pdf document with Acrobat Pro and selected "Create pdf form."
    4. Edit the "fillable" parts of the document (e.g., make all fields/text boxes 10 pt. font size...I wish there was a way of setting the default so you wouldn't have to manually do this for each field/box, but haven't figured out how to do that one yet).
    5. Close form editing.
    6. Select File --> Save as --> Reader extended pdf --> Enable additional features.
    7. Save file
    8. Close file and re-open to verify that hyperlinks and fields work/are fillable.
    That's my solution.  There's probably an easier way to do this, but it works.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Saving a fillable pdf

    I want to create a fillable pdf.  I need to be able to email the blank form to users.  I need to be able to print the completed form w/out losing data.  Would like to be able to email the completed form also, w/out losing data.  I don' t need the form data in an xml file.  Help!  What software do I need?

    You can use Acrobat to create the form. If you want pre-11 Reader users to be able to save and email a filled-in form, then the document needs to be Reader-enabled, which you can do with Acrobat. Reader 11 allows a non-enabled form to be saved, so there's no need to Reader-enable for those users unless you also need digital signatures.

  • Why do some people get "you cannot save data typed into this form" using FormsCentral fillable PDF?

    Hello.  We're using FormsCentral extensively.  We create the fillable PDF and send it to about 80 people.  Each of them is adding content and saving and then passing on to another person for further content.  Ultimately, all parties are happy with the content and submit.  The problem is that some of the people open the PDF and get the message ""you cannot save data typed into this form".  What is causing this?  Please help as it is causing us many problems.

    Thanks for the quick response.  We distribute the form to 80 people who fill it out and create 80 versions.  They then pass the form to one other person who edits.  All 80 forms, once complete, are submitted to FormsCentral.
    I think the problem is with Mac users.  Is there anything unusual about the Mac with Adobe Reader?  If you provide your email address, I can send you one of the filled out forms that is having this issue.  It's quite odd in that the fillable fields don't show up until clicked on and the form is not saveable.
    Thanks!
