SCCM 2012 R2: easy way to disable/enable MULTIPLE maintenance windows at once?

I have been racking my brain on this one for a while.
Scenario: you have an ADR set up that is deploying updates once a month. You have multiple collections set up that each have their own special maintenance window (example: 1st weekend - sat - 8-9pm)
Then, one week you are asked to not deploy updates for the upcoming weekend. Well, the ADR already ran and the machines for "1st weekend" are just waiting for the maintenance window to open. Now, at this point you can obviously go into EACH collection
associated with "1st weekend" and disable the maintenance window. But if you are asked to do this often and/or you have multiple collections with maintenance windows this could be a hassle.
Is there a way to easily enable and disable multiple maintenance windows at a time?
GUI: I have not found a way to select multiple collections and disable all MWs
PowerShell-module: set-CMMaintenanceWindow doesn't appear to have ability to modify "IsEnabled" property of MWs

What other creative options are there? Disable a service via PowerShell on members of "1st Weekend" collections? Which service? Should I be looking in SQL? Where? Other options in GUI?
I may end up getting stuck doing this manually but I want to make sure I am not overlooking something first... it's such a simple task - just seems like there should be an easy way to accomplish this.
(And please, for the sake of my question, lets not get into the semantics of whether or not the ADR technically DEPLOYS the updates or not.)

I didn't even think about that.... so having one MW that is disabled or having no MW at all would allow the client to install at will? I guess I was thinking that if it had a MW but it was disabled it just wouldn't update.
The MWs on the collections are all different.
Perhaps I need to re-assess my approach...
The original plan was to have one ADR (patch tuesday) update 1 SUG (which is deployed to all machines) each month. Machines would then install based off MWs.
Now I'm thinking it might be best to have 2 ADRS:
ADR1- updates existing SUG which is already deployed to Dev/Test machines.
ADR2- creates new SUG - which I then manually deploy to Prod collections.
This would automate the deployment to Non-Prod machines but it would give me the power to withhold updates to Prod machines for the month if needed.

less then a second then another log opens and so on!

Easy way to disable sleep temporarily?

Hi,
I'm wondering if there is an easy way to keep the computer awake temporarily without having to edit the system preferences. My current strategy is to start iTunes playing with the computer set to mute. I need this functionality because the computer goes to sleep even if there are active processes running in my X11 windows. For example, I'd like to be able to flip a "no sleep" switch while I'm installing a big program via the terminal or ssh-ed into an external machine. I think this kind of temporary no sleep mode would be useful when I have to read documents on my computer screen so that the screen won't go dark every few seconds when I leave the mouse still. Once I'm done either reading or doing things in the terminal, I'd like to return my computer to my usual settings, which are set to engage sleep mode fairly quickly to conserve energy. Of course, I can always tap the mouse to keep the display awake when I'm reading and put iTunes on mute to keep the hard disk awake while installing, but I'm curious if there is a more elegant way to achieve the desired result.

I use the custom setting in the energy saver prefpane for this. You can set it to never sleep and/or never put the display to sleep by dragging the 2 sliders to the far right. Once you've done that once it will stick and you can switch between custom and the other preset schemes (normal, better performane and better energy savings) with the power icon in the menu bar.
I should've mentioned: you need to do it separately for battery and mains power.

Easy way to disable 'enter' in a self made transaction?

Hi everybody,
I'm currently working on a transaction. All goes well except for one small problem. When I hit the enter button on the kb after filling a random field, it always executes all the pai modules of the screen! That's a littlebit annoying because the save and commits are all in those same pai modules.
Is there any way to disable the enter during a transaction? I know it is possible to check it as a exit-command but is there a way to perform a command that says: do nothing and return to the active screen?

SCCM 2012 AD Publishing in a Single Forest Multiple Domains

Hi there,
Let me explain the situation first so that you get the idea. We have a single forest, multiple child domains AD environment. For some reasons each domain is being managed separately by their geographic location IT.
Forest has been extended for SCCM by the site who holds the forest root domain. Since everyone wants to manage their own domain and systems, each child domain have their own primary site server.
In one of the domains I have installed brand new SCCM 2012 R2. I haven't done anything yet, havent turned on any discovery except Heartbeat. Now I see one device, which belongs to another domain with totally separate IP address, shows in my SCCM site. I dont
know why.
From here question arises for me. Correct me if I'm wrong and please advice what to do domain/forest wide.
1. System Container is needed in each child domain, not in the forest, right?
2. Where does/should each SCCM primary site publish information; in each domain or in the forest root domain?
3. Under Administration > Overview > Site Configuration > Sites > Properties > Publishing I see forest root domain name and its checked.
Under Administration > Overview > Hierarchy Configuration > Active Directory Forests > Properties > Publishing my site is checked and its the only one in there. In that same window I went ahead and specified my own domain hoping
to cure the possible problem.
So, why would that one device show up in this site? I have disabled Heartbeat together with other discoveries for now till I make everything ready.

This is fresh install and not in production yet. I have disabled Heartbeat temporarily so that I fix this problem. I will enable it after.

Is any easy way to set the classpath for serveral jars in windows?
for example, if I have 1000 jars in a folder "C:/MyJar", is this the only way to set the classpath with:
CLASSPATH=C:/MyJar/Jar0001.jar; C:/MyJar/Jar0002.jar; C:/MyJar/Jar0003.jar; .........; C:/MyJar/Jar1000.jar

?You shouldn't have a system CLASSPATH environment variable.
You don't add every JAR for every project to a system CLASSPATH. You should be doing it on a project-by-project basis, preferrably with a script or an Ant build.xml.
Doing it with a system environment variable makes your apps less portable, because now you depend on the target machine being set up in a particular way. You should figure out how to package your apps appropriately so clients don't have to worry about that setup issue.

Samba: Need easy way to connect as USER like Windows

i am searching for a easy way to connect to my samba server like in windows.
I dosent want allways mount sambashares as root with root:root writes.
I need samba mount as user i try set the suid bit on smbmount but doesent works right.
[sydney@midgard ~]$ smbmount //192.168.2.20/sydeney /media/smb/sydney/ -o username=sydney
libsmb based programs must *NOT* be setuid root.
4240: Connection to 192.168.2.20 failed
SMB connection failed
i know fstab is a way but i dont want use it, only if no other solution.
I hope some can tel me a solution or HowTo mount sambashares as user.

An easy way to quit all multi-tasked apps at once?

Running the SpeedTest app here in Japan I noticed the 3G data speeds improved dramatically (especially upload speeds) after one-by-one quitting all my multi-tasked apps and then restarting SpeedTest by itself.
I had like 20+ apps going at the time. Most of them were probably not contributing to the problem, but still, I don't know which ones.
Anyway, my question is, is there an easy way to force all the apps in the multi-task drawer to quit without one-by-one holding each icon down and pressing the "-" mark?

It still doesn't quite explain what I was seeing though.
With all the apps in the hidden dock my 3G data speeds were incomprehensibly slow. Doing a full restart didn't help. This is a critical point.
Yet when I got rid of all the entries in the hidden dock my 3G data speeds went up to somewhat respectable speeds again. In particular, what appeared to be an upload cap of 64 kbps disappeared and I was seeing upload speeds of about 800 kbps using SpeedTest.
So how to explain that? Just coincidence? Could it be that since that some apps, when the iPhone restarts, do start doing some things in the background again?
There should be some logical explanation for what I am seeing.
And I guess the answer to my original question is there is no way to remove all the apps in the hidden doc at once, is there?

Easy way to add all of my ap3 files once I have converted them

I converted 1500 songs from AAC format to MP3 and instead of going in to each song to delete the AAC and add the MP3 to my itunes so it's all MP3 on my iPod, is there a way to do this all at once. Just swap them out?

OK fixed the problem after talking to Apple support. Here is the step by step :
1. Plug your IPad to your computer
2. Open ITunes on computer
3. Select your device in the left hand column of ITunes (computer)
4. Select the music tab
5. Un-check Sync Music
6. Press ''Apply'' at the bottom of the page
7. Verify on your IPad that your music files are no longer there
8. Check Sync Music (opposite of step 5 above)
9. This should start syncing your music from your computer to your IPad
10. Music should play
Time it takes depends on the number of music files on your computer. I had 300 and it took approximately 30 minutes. It was worth the time, as everything works fine now.

Easy way for group moving multiple rows to insert under new row?

Hi All.
I have been trying to find a way that will let me move - say - 20 rows (#'s 105 - 125) each with 15 columns to a space that fits under an existing column that may be further up - say - row 5. I would like to do this in a way that does not require my creating 20 rows under row 5 in order for there to be more space between row 5 that has data in it and row 6 or 7 that may have data in it.
Right now I am creating a row, creating another row, multiple selecting these two rows and hitting down arrow to create new rows two by two ten times.
I have a case now where I would like to start moving organized pieces of information around that have 40 to 100 rows of data and it is becoming increasingly inconvenient to have to do this.

This takes some patience and some practice.
Click on the first Row label and Shift-Click on the last Row Label of the range of rows you want to move.
Now you have a large selection. Here comes the delicate part that may take some practice. Make sure your work is saved before you begin practicing. Read these instructions thoroughly before you begin.
Hover over a label in the selected range of rows. Click and drag to the left, pulling the selected rows off the main table. Hold on to the mouse switch and don't let go yet. Now move the selection that you have a hold of back over the main table and watch the horizontal lines that separate the rows. You will find that double lines appear under the cursor. This indicates where your selection will be inserted if you let go right now. Move your pointer up or down the table until you come to where you want your selection to go and then release the mouse.

Is there an easy way to delete/clear multiple emails?

It is a pain to delete them one by one and then go into the trash and do it all over again one by one.

No other way at the moment. While it is just my assumption, I do believe *one day* in one of the updates they will provide a way...but until that day (if it comes) you have to do it one at a time.

Easy Way to Add Printer on a Windows Computer

1 .Ensure Printer on XP machine is shared - assume it's called SHAREDPRINTER.
2) On the Network Browsing on your W7 machine ensure you can "See" the Printer share.
Now on the W7 machine do the following (doesn't matter if it's X-86 or x-64).
3) Control Panel==> add LOCAL (Yes LOCAL) printer. I know it's on a Network but hold your horses -- what we are
actually doing is "Poodlefaking" the W7 machine into thinking it's running the printer.
4) Create NEW port==>Local port
5) Portname is \\XPMACHINE\SHAREDPRINTER
6) Now W7 will load a driver and you'll be able to print on the XP machine.
Simple If the printer is on the W7 machine and you want to print on the XP machine then do the same instructions on the XP machine --
port name in this case will be \\W7MACHINE\SHAREDPRINTER
If this is a Network / WiFI printer run this on ALL the computers who need access to the printer
Start at 3) - you don't need a printer name in this case just the IP address on the LAN.
at 4) chose TCPIP port
and at 5) enter the IP address of the printer on your LAN.

The geotags are part of the picture file. Unless they are intentionally stripped out, they will remain as part of the file even if it's transferred to another device. Most desktop photo apps can read that data.

Is there a way of moving/quantizing multiple audio regions at once to the nearest bar/beat/division?

I'm having trouble finding a solution which I hope turns out to be fairly simple. Here's my problem:
I often make drum beats from audio files that looks something like this:
What I'd like to know is if there is a way to highlight say all of the snare audio regions and snap or quantize the "audio region start" to the nearest beat or division. I've been looking everywhere and I just can't seem to find a way to do it to multiple regions at once. It seems like somehting that should maybe be fairly simple. Turning "Flex" on doesn't work as that quantizes the transients as opposed to just the start of each audio region.
The reason I ask is that sometimes when zooming in fully, it turns out some of the regions are not exactly on the grid line.
I hope I made sense there and I'd appreciate any help. Many thanks in advance.

SCCM 2012: Forefront, allow updates from alternative sources

I'd like to enable alternative sources for updating forefront antivirus (SCEP) on SCCM 2012.
There is a "Disable alternate sources (such as Windows Update, Microsoft Windows Server Update Services or UNC shares) for the initial definition update on client computers" in policies but, as description mentions, this is only for
INITIAL update.
Please advise howto/where to activate.
