Scheduled job routes to Primary in AG automatically?

Hello!
We have a new setup of SQL Server 2014 running 12.0.2430.  We have two servers that are set up in AlwaysOn High Availability, which are hosting a database in an AG with a valid listener. Everything seems fine and is working as expected
in terms of HA, except for the following:
We have a scheduled job that was deployed to both servers in the HADRON cluster.  It runs a stored procedure in the db, which creates some temp tables and updates some records.  I was fully expecting that the job would fail on the server that is
the secondary, however, we have observed that, when we set the secondary to be non-readable, the job will run on both the primary and the secondary, routing the traffic to the primary in both instances.  When we set the secondary to readable, this behavior
goes away.
What gives?  Is this expected?
Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.
Thanks!
-Bill S.

  • How to take inputs in scheduled job

    Hi all,
I have a report which is having certain dates to be input on selection screen e.g. Starting date- ending date, Week start date- ending date, and report date.
Now requirement is to schedule job on daily basis..
In this , my query is , I have to give dates logic in program itself.. or there is any option after scheduling job dates change can be done automatically. ?
Thanks in advance to clear my doubts.

    Hi,
you can define a selection-screen variant. for the dynamic input in date-fields you can use "dynamic date calculation" for your selection field like:
    - current date +/- xxx days
    - First day of next month
    - and so on
alternative you can use a variable from table TVARVC which you can set with another/previous program
    hope this helps
    regards

  • Background Processing? how schedule job for "System Error" Message .

    Hello everyone,
in sap help i have read.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/5a/f72040599a8f5ce10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    PCK> Monitoring>Message Monitoring-->Background Processing
you can schedule jobs for various background processing:
    ●     Archiving of messages processed successfully
    ●     Deletion of messages that are not to be archived
    ●     Restarting of messages with errors
    ●     Rescheduling of lost messages
    can anyone understand this docu?
give me some introduction, how can i define and schedule these jobs ?
    thx in advance!!
    best regards
    Yaning

    Background Processing
    Prerequisites
You have started the message monitor on the initial screen of the PCK and are in Background Processing.
    Features
    Archiving
You require two archiving sessions to archive messages:
    ●     One session to write the messages to the archive
    ●     One session to delete the persisted messages that have been archived
To do this, you schedule an archiving job, which implicitly schedules the sessions to write to the archive and delete the archived messages.
You can define one or more rules for each archiving job; these rules contain conditions that a message must meet in order to be archived by the job. At least one of the defined rules must be met for archiving to take place.
All information that is displayed for a message in message monitoring is archived, in addition to the audit log for each message.
    Deleting
A standard delete job is created automatically. It runs once a day. You can schedule additional delete jobs; however, you cannot define rules for them.
    Restarting
Instead of restarting messages with errors manually with message monitoring, you can schedule a job to automatically restart these messages. This is possible for all messages for which the number of defined restart attempts has been exceeded (messages with the system error status).
You can define one or more rules for each job to restart messages; these rules contain conditions that a message must meet in order to be restarted by the job. At least one of the defined rules must be met for archiving to take place.
    Rescheduling
A standard job to reschedule messages is created automatically. The job runs once a day and ensures that messages lost as a result of database failure, for example, are rescheduled. You can schedule additional rescheduling jobs; however, you cannot define rules for them.
    Thx Aamir.
But I mean the messages with errors in Adapter Engine , not in Intergrations Engine.
the situation is like Naveen Pandrangi's WebLog
II. Errors in Adapter Engine [XI :  How to Re-Process failed XI Messages Automatically|XI :  How to Re-Process failed XI Messages Automatically]
    I
Till now we have seen how to resubmit/restart message that failed in Integration Engine.  One a message makes it from Integration Engine to Adapter Engine, the message is flagged as checked in Integration Engine. The status of the message in Adapter engine does not effect the processed state in Integration Engine. Now if this message was asynchronous, XI will by default try to restart the message 3 times at intervals of 5 minutes before the status of the message is changed from Waiting to System Error .
*how can i schedule a job to automatically restart these messages with errors?
    best regards

I am afraid you might have made some undesirable changes in the /db/tasks.xml..... And don't go via plugin route... Instead
Please restore the backup of /db/tasks.xml...
    The better alternative would be:
    (1) Create a separate /db/ABCDMyCustomScheduler.xml (Remember the /db part... This should be the folder...
    /home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/MYPROJECTMDSFILES/import/db/ABCDMyCustomScheduler.xml
Then in the weblogicImportMetadata.sh, import path should be till:
    /home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/MYPROJECTMDSFILES/import
If it does not begin with /db, the job will not appear when you would try to create new job for it via Web GUI
    (2) Upload Jar.sh as Scheduler task...
    (3) Restart and all that...

  • Scheduled job not getting executed on a logical standby

    Hello,
We have created a job(through dbms_scheduler API). The job is enabled and shows up in the SCHEDULERJOBS view also.
However the job does not get executed. I looked into the following tables there was no relevant entry found for the aforesaid job:
    select * from all_scheduler_job_log
    select * from dba_scheduler_running_jobs
select * from DBA_SCHEDULER_JOB_RUN_DETAILS order by log_date desc
Is there any limitation that we cannot execute scheduled jobs on a logical standby database. If i execute the relevant program (that is configured to be run as job in this scenario) as an individual procedure from SQL plus, it gets executed successfully implying there is no errors/problem in the subprogram that the job is going to invoke.
Appreciate your thoughts in this regard.
    Thanks.

    Hi Justin,
    Thanks for your response.
As per the app design, the job invokes a stored program(that maps to a stored procedure present in standby db itself) that reads the data from standby and populates the relevant tables/entities in another database(third db, not primary or standby) which acts as a repository. No write operations are to be performed on standby.
    So, i have two doubts:
-- Can scheduled jobs execute on logical standby db[Oracle release 10g(R2)]
I was going through few of the oracle docs and it is mentioned that this is a known limitation in 10g
R2 release and has been corrected in 11g. Now we have something called database_role
attribute that needs to be set to 'LOGICAL STANDBY' if you need to execute a job on
standby. However it is available in 11g onwards.
-- If there is no workaround for the above mentioned problem in 10g-R2 release.
Then we may have to schedule a job from third db instance that shall invoke the program(residing on the standby db). Can we have a scheduled job which executes a program that maps to a remote stored procedure instead of local stored procedure?
    Appreciate your thoughts.
    Thanks

  • Bat file for running scheduled jobs

    Hi
I am not entirely sure whether this is the correct forum to post this question, so apologies if I have posted this question in the wrong place.
Anyhow, I would like to know how to create two automated bat file scripts that will execute a PL/SQL package that will tell my Oracle 10g R2 database to run a scheduled job. Equally, I need another bat file to tell it to drop the scheduled job.
I already have a PL/SQL package that creates a schedule job using dbms_scheduler, and I can execute the scheduled job by going into SQL Plus running the execute command against the package. It is this latter bit, the execute part that I want to automate into bat file.
Can someone show me how to do this?

I'm in complete agreement with Hans. Oracle has two facilities DBMS_JOB and DBMS_SCHEDULER neither of which benefits in any way be being called by a batch file.
What is your version number (all of it) and why are you considering this idea?

  • Scheduling jobs through dbconsole

Just trying to clear my concepts about automating jobs, my understanding is we can automate jobs through crontjobs (on unix) /taskscheduler (on windows)
    The other option is DBMS_SCHEDULER.
any jobs like RMAN backups or sql scripts running should show up in below query(they are not running through Scheduled Tasks (its window box)
but i see few jobs & RMAN backups running on one db but i can't see them in this query, what i am missing?

Edited by: DBA2011 on Jun 21, 2012 9:09 AMdepends on how the job was scheduled. You should also check DBA_JOBS.
And of course, there is no guarantee the job you expect to see actually exists in database B just becaue it existsin database A .....

  • XL Reporter Scheduled Jobs and connection settings

Company needs to decommission current SQL Server and move to new box.
Company has many XL Reporter scheduled jobs that run on a client machine.
When the new sql server is in place, what will happen to those jobs? The client machine SBO installation will be directed to the new sql server and the license server there. Will the scheduled jobs "know' from the SBO client to go to the new server for data? Or is the connection string somehow encapsulated in the scheduled job such that they will still try to access data on the old server?
    SBO 2007 A SP 00 PL 48
(Yes, I know it's old. There are reasons.)
    TIA.

Your 2nd guess is true: the connection string somehow encapsulated in the scheduled job such that they will still try to access data on the old server. It will not automatically find the new server unless new server has the identical settings.
You probably need to re-schedule those jobs.
    Thanks,

  • Analytical snapshots and scheduled jobs

    Hello,
for extended analytical reports we need to make the snapshots of our statistic datas every day.
There is an option of doing snapshots of the Project in Project Management, but we need to have snapshots of our own BO's or data sources. Is there any possibility to do this?
In case snapshots can't be done by the system we also would perform it in coding, by creating business objects with required datas and saving them. But we need to do the saving automatically (regularly).
In Project Management it is also possible to run scheduled snapshots. How can we schedule jobs (it would be enough if we could execute an action which saves our datas at scheduled time)?
We have found only "Mass Data Run Process" in this context but the MDR's can be done only for the special standard Floorplans, aren't they?
    Best regards,
    Leonid Granatstein.

    Hi,
currently it is not possible to create snapshots for partner BO content by a standard process.
Also defining a mass data run object, which you could schedule and where you could implement the snapshot by yourself, is not available for partners yet.  So we have no standard mechanism available to get your task done with the use of the current implementation possibilities.
The only option I see is that you develop the snapshot activity on your own in ByD studio.
To trigger the snapshot activity on a regular basis, I only see the option to trigger this from outside. An option would be to define a web service or an XML file upload.
You could write for example a small program ( by using PHP or .NET) on a PC which runs on a regular basis and which uploads an XML file or calls a web service. This then triggers the snapshot activity you have programmed in ByD Studio.
    I hope this helps.

  • Approver, certifier, fulfillment user set to oiminternal during role creation through scheduled job

    Hi all,
We are running 11gR2 PS1 (BP01). We have a scheduled job that creates role and then populates approver_user attribute (with user ID) in the catalog entry of this role. We only want the approver_user to be populated and not the certifier and fulfillment user on the catalog.
When i view the role in catalog, the approver user is correctly set with the user ID provided by the scheduled job however I see that certifier user and fulfillment user are automatically set to oiminternal.
We did not see this behavior in R2.
Are there any configurations that will prevent certifier user and fulfillment users to be auto populated with the identity of the user running the scheduled job (oiminternal)?
    Thanks.

So while this certainly isn't the most elegant of solutions, and most assuredly isn't in the realm of supported by Oracle...
I've used the DBMS_IJOB.DROP_USER_JOBS('username'); package to remove the 194558 orphaned job entries from the job$ table. Don't ask, I've no clue how they all got there; but I've prepared some evil looks to unleash upon certain developers tomorrow morning.
Not being able to reorganize the JOB$ table to free the now wasted ~67MB of space I've opted to create a new index on the JOB$ table to sidestep the full table scan.
CREATE INDEX SYS.JOB_F1_THIS_NEXT ON SYS.JOB$ (FIELD1, THIS_DATE, NEXT_DATE) TABLESPACE SYSTEM;The next option would be to try to find a way to grant the select privilege to the role without using the aforementioned "after CREATE on schema" trigger and dbms_job call. This method was adopted to cover situations in which a developer manually added a table directly to the database rather than using the provided scripts to recreate their test environment.
I assume that the following quote from the 11gR2 documentation is mistaken, and there is no such beast as "create or replace table" in 11g:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10592/statements_9003.htm#i2061306
"Dropping a table invalidates dependent objects and removes object privileges on the table. If you want to re-create the table, then you must regrant object privileges on the table, re-create the indexes, integrity constraints, and triggers for the table, and respecify its storage parameters. Truncating and replacing have none of these effects. Therefore, removing rows with the TRUNCATE statement or replacing the table with a *CREATE OR REPLACE TABLE* statement can be more efficient than dropping and re-creating a table."

  • What command will be executed when I schedule job via DB13

    Hi all,
How do I get what command(full syntax) will be executed when I schedule jobs via DB13?
    For example:
    - Action: REORG of Tables in Tablespace(s)
    - Tablespaces: "WI6#BTABD" is selected
    - "Use Temporary Tablespaces" is selected
I think this is a really basic question...
Could you give me some advice?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ikue

    Hi Ikue,
yes,  you won't see, what the 'REORG for all tablespaces is doing. But it's not really necessary. Its's simply always the same call
REORG TABLE <tabname> INDEX <primary key> ALLOW NO ACCESS
and optionally the addition  USE <tempspace>, if you have selected this option in DB13.  And it is called for each table that is located in the tablespace(s) which you have specified.
The 'REORG for set of tables' is quite new. It is available with Basis Support Package 7.0 SP12. Before there was only a job to Reorg a single table.
The REORG for flagged tables is a deprecated job.
If you want to know more about the various REORG jobs and when and how to use them, then you should look at note 431430
    Best regards
    Ralf

  • Monitor Scheduled Jobs in OEM

Does anyone use OEM to monitor the success or failure of Scheduled Jobs?
Can somebody point me in the right direction, either documentation or how you do this at your place of work.
Documentation out there seems to be a little scarce with regards to this.
    Thanks!

I should make myself a little clearer. I would like a job failure to automatically notify me - whether by email or any other means.
The small bit of documentation that I find is in the OEM Advanced Configuratin Guide (B16242-01) section: 12.4 Passing Job Execution Status Information
    Thanks.

  • BO4 - Lifecycel Management Console to export all content via scheduled job

    Hi,
We wish to export the entire content of our repository to a lcmbiar file via scheduled job every week.
Whilst could do this manually, want this to be a periodic refresh.
The purpose of this is to have a developemnt system which has the content of the production system as of a week ago.
So would want this job to be dynamic, exporting entire content including any new content on weekly basis at week-end during quiet time on servers.
Anybody know if this can be done via lcmbiar file automatically?
I'm thinking say sales folder week 1 10 reports, week 2 somebody creates another 2 reports, would want lcmbiar file to automatically pick up the new reports which have been added in week 2.
Is this possible via lifecycle management console?
Can't simply export cms database to development system as contains the production host embedded within it and don't want the development system to have reference to the physical production host.

    Hi,
Yesterday ASUG conducted webinar on LCM 4.0 FP3. URL for webbex session
    http://www.asug.com/Default.aspx?tabid=124&vp_url=http://jive.asug.com/docs/DOC-32206
    summary:
    1. We can not schedule to export LCMBIAR file in 4.0 SP2
    2. When ant file added to folder, automatically scheduled job do not pick the file in 4.0 SP2
But above two options are good and working in FP3 as per SAP.

  • Delete DM scheduled job and .mrc file

    Hi,
What's the best way for a BPC admin to stop a DM scheduled job either scheduled by error or incorrectly set up?
My understanding was that deleting the .mrc automation file would take care of it but it doesn't stop the job automatically created in BI (that can be seen in SM37). The BI job can be manually deleted by the BI team but is there a way for the BPC Admin to completely delete it from BPC?
    Thanks
    David

    Hi,
If the schedule has not started yet, then you can delete the automation from DM package list. It will stop the scheduling. Next time onwards, you can run the package by double clicking on it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Schedule Jobs based on Resource

I want to schedule jobs based on server resource , If resource is low it should autometically decide to stops some jobs and if resourse is high then it should autometically increase jobs for better output.
Is it possible or I can write some program to handle this. How to know about server resource after running jobs.

    Hi,
First you should note that the Scheduler already does this automatically - if the server is more loaded then fewer jobs will be scheduled to run at the same time.
If you want finer control over this you might want to look into setting up Scheduler windows . A window is a scheduled period of time when a certain resource plan is in effect. In that resource plan you can limit the number of sessions or the amount of cpu dedicated to a particular resource group. You can then put jobs into different resource consumer groups. This allows you to fine-tune how many resources should be allocated to different groups of jobs during different times during the day.
    Hope this helps,
    Ravi.
