Can i have mouse scroll functionality in forms , from the mouse wheel ?

    Richard,
I tried FreeWheel on a running form, with interesting results.
If I have a form with only one scrolling block, the mousewheel scrolls the block nicely.
But if I have several scrolling blocks on the form, it always scrolls in the LAST block, no matter where the cursor is. ...makes sense, though --it has no way of knowing which scrollbar in the Forms window to activate.

i'm using Oracle 10g.. JIniator for Running Oracle Forms
applying this Coding this function is not working..
Can anybody tell this How to oversome from this...???
    Cheers.

What version of Oracle Forms are you using? You should always include this in your posts. :)
Mouse scrolling is only enabled in Web runtime of Forms - so you must be using Forms 9i or higher.
Does JRE Support mouse scrolling function? If memory serves, Mouse scroll was first introduced in Java 1.5.0. Therefore, if you want enble the mouse scroll wheel in Forms, you must be using JRE 1.5.0 or higher. I strongly recommend you use Java 1.6.0_33 or higher - but do not use Java 1.7.0 as it has not been certified with Oracle Forms yet.
In order to use the JRE over the Jinitiator, you must modify your configuration to enable use of the JRE. Please take a look at Oracle 10gR2 Forms Services – Using Sun's Java Plug-in. This Oracle White Paper is for Forms 10g Release 2, but the instructions are basically the same for 9i and 11g as well.
    Hope this helps,

User may select 20-30 check boxes for respective name & id...then at the end , user will hit OK...from here when-button-click will call a procedure....that will update/insert/delete a table data. The procedure I have written is:-
    DECLARE
    N_CNT Number(1);
    D_SYSDATE Constant date :=sysdate;
    Begin
    select count(1)
    into N_CNT

  • Oracle Form functions and procedures in APEX, how?

I am working to recreate in APEX, already existing Read Only Forms in Oracle Forms. APEX Interactive Report functionality among other things, makes it worth while as well as targetting a different audience than the one that utilizies the Oracle Form versions. Oracle Forms versions use lots of pre and post query triggers, PLSQL Functions.
In Oracle Forms one of the places those functions can be located is in the "Program Units" section of the Form. A typical function of this sort, based on a specific Mission ID Itinerary, collects scheduled passengers last names, formats them with a comma and space after each one, into a single string that is returned and displayed as the passenger list of one row.
I have all this code written so I can move most of the main query of the Oracle Form into an Interactive Report. These functions and triggers called from within the Form, from the "Program Units" section of the Oracle Form rather than being stored in the Database schema in a package, where would they go inside APEX? Can I create a "Shortcut" in APEX and call it from the Interactive Report "Region Source"? Can I create the PLSQL function at the page level or region level of the Interactive Report? Or, is my best bet creating a package stored in the database, of all these functions and/or proecedures I may need from the original Oracle Form?
Some advice would be greatly appriciated.

    RLBickham wrote:
I don't think I have been clear enough in describing the specific thing I want to do, it simply does not reach the level of forms to APEX conversion. It is basically a PLSQL Function problem.
I have an Interactive Report that is currently getting 90 percent of what I want however, each row, representing a Mission may have multiple legs. Each Leg has two locations or ICAO codes attached to it. Based on the Mission number, I want to loop through the leg table, collect all the ICAO codes for that Mission, put them all into 1 variable separated by a coma and add that variable to the column display of that Interactive Report as the last column.
In Oracle Forms I have a function saved to the database that is called within the main query. Maybe I am asking a question that does not need to be asked but in any case my question is can I put that function currently in the database somewhere in the confines of the Interactive Report and reference it via Http somehow or should I just stick with putting functions and procedures in packages stored in the database and called the conventional way?You could move the function to the database and call it from the report query, but it sounds as if it's superfluous. In the report query use whatever form of Re: 4. How do I convert rows to columns? is appropriate to your (unspecified) database version.
When you have a problem you'll get a faster, more effective response by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
    <li>Full APEX version
    <li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
<li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
    <li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
    <li>Theme
    <li>Template(s)
<li>Region/item type(s) (making particular distinction as to whether a "report" is a standard report, an interactive report, or in fact an "updateable report" (i.e. a tabular form)
With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand.

  • TO_CHAR FUNCTION IN ORACLE FORM

    HI,
Table called A has column name col1
    col1
    12563.563
    52685.563
    05263.540
I would like to use SUBSTR(col1,2,6) for insert values from A table to B table by Oracle form and following values are inserted in B table
    2563.5
    2685.5
    263.4
If I use SQLPLUS it is inserting as my requirement like
    2563.5
    2685.5
    5263.4
Third row should be 5263.5 instead of 263.4. In Oracle form may have internal coversion function to convert character value to number values, I do not want to convert the value to number. Both table columns are varchar2 column.
What is the equal to_char function in Oracle form. If it is NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS, please what are the parameters to be passed along with column.
    Thanks in advance
    Saravanan.

    Hello,
If you don't want to take account any calculation on the decimal part, you could consider the Trunc() function instead of the To_Char():
    Connected to:
Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
    SQL> select to_char(52685.563,'00000000.0'), trunc(52685.563,1) from dual

    TO_CHAR(526 TRUNC(52685.563,1)

are you certain, 100% positive, and absolutely sure you have a bean item with above implementation class in your form? I'd double check that...
JInit and IE8? I am not 100% sure, but I am almost certain that this combination didn't work at all. And please don't tell us you used that stupid hack where you replace the jvm.dll of JInit with one of a current JPI installation.
The Oracle Versions you have in place are rather ancient as well, you really should think about upgrading your database and your forms installation. As you already are on webforms moving to the current version of forms shouldn't require much changes in your forms.

This is regarding Grid Functionality in Oracle Forms 6i. Do we have Grids concept in Oracle Forms? If yes please explain me about creating Grids in Forms?..And If anyone has any document related to this topic please provide it to me..Even I searched in oracle Portal, Oracle Forums and metalink as well but could not locate any relavent documents on it....... It would be a great help if you provide information on the same.
    Thanks in Advance.

    hello ,
just open data block property set property "number of record displayed=10"
so u can see 10 records at time like grid in vb or .net
u can navigate record using up/down key.
it's not a grid but mulit record data block.

FANHow would you like your document to be attached??? What is the nature of your Document??
If it's the records of another form like an invoice already typed in in your application, you can simply add a field that holds the ID/Number/Reference of your document, and have a button that drills down the data for you.
If it's a scanned document you can use an image item, and display the document in an that item in your forms.
    Tony
Alternative for images you can use BLOBs and other types of systemfiles

  • Auto Step functionality in Oracle Forms?

    Hello,
I am testing Captivate for possibility to capture test
scenarios for testing in Oracle. I know Captivate has the ability
to create auto steps from Internet Explorer to automatically create
captions that contain text describing your actions.
Is this functionality available in Oracle Forms? I have
tested it many times and Captivate seems to only be able to create
auto steps from the browser and not create any from Oracle. It
still captures everything properly, but not the auto steps. We are
planning on printing these steps for ease of the user, and thus
would like to have the steps in writing as well.
This is what the Captivate Help file says about Auto Text:
"Use the AutoText Captions feature to automatically create captions
that contain text describing your actions. Customize the
appearance, size, orientation, position, and display speed of
captions, including font, size, color, and text formatting. Before
recording, choose the caption type and language, or create and
import your own caption style. Adobe Captivate 3 generates caption
    text in many languages."
    Thanks a lot.
    -Zeb

    Welcome to our community, Zeb
At first, you really bowled me a wobbly with the description
    of "auto step functionality".
It's been my experience that Captivate's ability to properly
recognize elements of an application are pretty much hit and miss.
To be honest, I'm surprised that it does as well as it does. But
that's with normal desktop applications. Toss in something that's
browser based (as your situation seems to be) and I'm surprised it
    works at all.
I'm sort of stabbing in the dark here, as I'm not an
application programmer. But I'd guess that what is happening is
Captivate is only sensing an object in the browser and it has no
idea as to how to interpret the fields and whatnot that make up the
    object.
I know it's a nice feature when it works. However, I do hope
you are aware that you aren't limited to what Captivate gives you
with this. You are totally able to insert your own Text Captions at
any time on any slide by clicking Insert > Text Caption.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Master/Detail/Lookup functionality - ApEx and AJAX vs Oracle Forms

I'd like to build a master detail form with some lookup functionality and have some of the fields automatically populated. I come from an Oracle Forms and PL/SQL background so I was hoping for some guidance in ApEx and Javascript for how to achieve the same effect.
If you look at the default Sample Application (DEMO_APP), page 29 has the master record and the corresponding details on the same page.
    The functionality I'd like is:
    1) when a new product is chosen from the Product Name select list, I'd like the Unit Price to be populated.
    2) when the Quantity is updated, I'd like
    a) the Extended Price to be recalculated and
    b) the Order Total to be recalculated
all before submitting the page. This is pretty trivial in Oracle Forms but I've had limited success with ApEx.
I've been able to achieve 1) in a single record form but not a tabular form using the techniques from Scott's AJAX generator http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=33867:2.
I've been able to achieve 2a) in a tabular form using the techniques from Vikas in this thread Tabular form with Ajax
I haven't had any luck getting 2b) to work.
So, is my wish list possible?
If it is, I'd appreciate some pointers and/or code. I don't speak Javascript but I can copy and paste ;)
    Cheers,
    Bryan.

    Hi Carl,
Ok, thanks for the tip - take a look at http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=24745 login as demo/demo and edit one of the top orders. This will take you to page 29.
I've changed the 2.0 Sample Application to allow both the unit_price and the quantity to be overtyped. Each column has the 'Element Attributes' property set to onChange="calcTotal(this)" to call the javascript code.
This recalculates the extended_price (feature 2a above) but the order total (or the report total) is not affected (feature 2b) - how can I change the code to achieve this?
If I change an existing line item and choose another product from the select list, I'd like the unit_price and the extended_price to change appropriately (feature 1 above) - having to wait until after the form is submitted is not acceptable to my users.
Thanks for taking the time to look at this - I really appreciate it.
    Cheers,
    Bryan.

  • Forms crashing while executing Oracle Forms Functional script in OTM

    Hello,
We're trying to execute Oracle Ebiz forms related functional test scripts developed in Open Script in Oracle Test Manager.
Exactly when the forms get launched, the JRE is getting crashed, and the script is failing. What could be the reason.
I've added the class path in Java control panel for the JRE which comes with OATS, and enabled 1.6.33 version, which works absolutely fine when same script is run using OpenScript and not through OTM.
Also, in windows services we have provided the valid admin login credentials to the run the service as, instead of local machine user.
Any help and insight on this problem would be of great help.

Per release notes, i am starting the agent service using the command line "C:\OracleATS\agentmanager\bin\AgentManagerService.exe -c
    C:\OracleATS\agentmanager\bin\AgentManagerService.conf".
But what's happening is, OTM is not actually waiting for the applet to load. The moment the forms are invoked and about to load after signing in and selecting the responsibility and menu, the script and forms are crashing. OTM is giving the below error though its not waiting to connect to the forms.
Failure when running child script GL_JournalEntry_Batch. Caused by: Failed to connect to the Oracle Forms applet after 30 seconds. Verify that the applet launching page opens, and that the Forms Startup Timeout setting is high enough for this site

  • Cancel/Break Stored PL/SQL-Procedure/Function from Oracle Forms

    Hello !
If i call in Oracle Forms a PL/SQL-Programm stored in the dabase is there a way to break/cancel this programm from Oracle Forms ?
    Thanks in advance !
    Thomas

<p>All I want to say is, you need to "prepare" the PL/SQL code to accept interruption, like dealing with the DBMS_APLICATION_INFO</p>If this code is not present in your PL/SQL code you won't stop it, except killing the session (that is a really dangerous option).
