SDO_RELATE - EQUAL MASK - Different results on the same query

Hello.
I'm trying to find all spatial duplication in the point layer (using certain tolerance). That layer has q-tree spatial index and appropriate tolerance in the user_sdo_geom_metadata table (let's say 1 meter). I have SDO_VERSION=9.2.0.5.0.
To perform that I use SDO_RELATE operator with EQUAL mask (I know that actually I can use other operators but lets consider EQUAL):
SELECT /*+ ordered */t1.OBJECTID, /*+ ordered */t2.OBJECTID from points_table t1, points_table t2 WHERE t1.OBJECTID < t2.OBJECTID
AND sdo_relate (t2.shape, t1.shape, 'mask=EQUAL querytype = JOIN') = 'TRUE'
The problem is:
If I create Q-tree index using SDO_LEVEL=8 query takes 10 minutes and returns lets say 1000 dup events
If I create Q-tree index using SDO_LEVEL=10 query takes 20 seconds and returns lets say 996 dup events
I'm confusing about that - Why the results are depend from SDO_LEVEL? For me it is more important then performanse.
Those missed duplication events are really duplication events (point closer to each other than 1 meter) and SDO_DISTANSE for those particlar poins returns 0. It is correct, but SDO_RELATE monitors that those points are not equal.
So how can I rely on the SDO_RELATE function? What SDO_LEVEL need I use to get correct results? I choosed Q-tree indexes because of performance I didn't get success to get result using R-tree indexes on big datasets at all.
Regarding polylines:
I suppose that I can get similar problem and for polylines (I’m also using same query to find dups polylines).
Sometimes SDO_RELATE finds polylines which ones are not really equal in the specified tolerance (1 meter). All cases that I saw – it was simple segments which ones share only one vertex but the other ends are spatially disjoint more that 3 meters. Why SDO_RELATE finds such cases as EQUAL?
Thank you very much in advance.

Thank you Siva for advice.
I've tried R-tree indexes and got reasonable performance on the tables with ~20k rows.
But when I try to ran that query on the table (points) with 250k rows it takes forever :(.
1) Create index:
Create index nodes_idx on nodes(SHAPE) indextype is mdsys.spatial_index parameters ('LAYER_GTYPE=POINT initial=10m next=5m sdo_rtr_pctfree=10 pctincrease=0');
/* actually 'initial=10m next=5m sdo_rtr_pctfree=10 pctincrease=0' options only decreased slightly performance */
2) Execute query:
SELECT /*+ ordered */t1.OBJECTID, /*+ ordered */t2.OBJECTID
from nodes t1, nodes t2 WHERE t1.OBJECTID < t2.OBJECTID AND
sdo_relate (t2.shape, t1.shape, 'mask=EQUAL querytype = WINDOW') = 'TRUE'
Plan Explanation:
| Id | Operation | Name | Rows | Bytes | Cost |
| 0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | 150M | 1095G| 505M|
| 1 | NESTED LOOPS | | 150M| 1095G| 505M |
| 2 | TABLE ACCESS FULL | NODES | 548K | 2043M| 411 |
| 3 | TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID| NODES | 274 | 1047K| 505M|
| 4 | DOMAIN INDEX | NODES_IDX | 27416 | | |
As far as I understand, oracle reserved for that query 1095G of memory?! Is it really necessary for that simple query and how can it be possible?

  • Different results for the same query and same data !  (oracle 9i)

    Hi,
    This is a mystery for me. I've got on my database exactly the same data that my customer (exported schema). We both launch the same query (generated by the software that we sold him). This query has a criteria IN (SELECT MAX()...) to get only data from the last year.
    The query gives 477 rows on my computer (correct answer), but no row on his! We have the same data! The only difference is the Oracle release : 9.2.0.6.0 for him, 9.2.0.1.0 for me.
    If he executes the subquery alone, it gives the expected result.
    If he replaces the MAX() in the subquery by the returned value (year 2016), he gets his 477 rows.
    I've rewritten the query with a NOT EXISTS, and now all is fine. (Less efficient but it works).
    I have no rational explication. Did I miss something ?
    Thanks for any answer.
    This is the query:
    SELECT ...
    FROM
    CRA, GRA, ...
    WHERE
    /* subselect */
    (CRA.COLLCOD, CRA.CRANEXE, CRA.CRANCODBUD, CRA.GRANNUM, CRA.CRANCOD1, CRA.CRANCOD2, CRA.CRANCOD3, CRA.CRANCOD4)
    IN (
    SELECT b.COLLCOD, MAX(cranexe), b.CRANCODBUD, b.GRANNUM, b.CRANCOD1, b.CRANCOD2, b.CRANCOD3, b.CRANCOD4
    FROM CRA b
    GROUP BY b.COLLCOD, b.CRANCODBUD, b.GRANNUM, b.CRANCOD1, b.CRANCOD2, b.CRANCOD3, b.CRANCOD4
    AND... /* other filters and joins */

    v9.2.0.1 was full of bugs. a lot of these bugs had to do with "incorrect results", typically associated with old stats or complex queries (certain types of subqueries were very likely to give wrong resutls, due to the way they were rewritten by the optimizer).
    apply the 9.2.0.6 patch set

  • Two very different results using the same settings (H.264 / Quicktime Pro)

    I’m a bit confused, I have used Quicktime Pro (v7.1) to encode DV into H.264 for iPod and this particular video is 18 minutes long and came out looking very good with the following settings;
    VIDEO: H.264 at 200kbps, Baseline Profile, 25fps, Auto Key Frames, 320x240 or 640x480, Multipass Best quality encoding.
    AUDIO: AAC Audio at 96kbps, 24kHz sampling freq, Stereo.
    However here is the twist…
    When I use the same exact settings to encode just the 30 second opener (from the 18 minute video) the encoded opener looks bad and blocky!
    Why? Same settings would make you assume that you should get a same or similar result, or am I wrong?
    The reason I have tried encoding this 30 second opener is that I am trying to work out which settings work best on the iPod (another issue) and I don’t want to spend hours test encoding the full 18 minute video, as you know H.264 is SLOW to encode!
    So can anyone help in regard to two very different results using the same settings?

    Alvin,
    Is it a commercially-released or home-burned CD?
    If it's commercially-released, try "encouraging" the recalcitrant computer by using the iTunes Advanced menu > Get CD Track Names command when it shows Audio CD.
    If it's home-burned, you will find that only the computer that actually burned the disc will know what's on it. The information won't be transferred to another computer.
    Let us know which, if either, of these situations applies to you.

  • Drawing images gives 2 different results with the same code.

    Im adding my code on here, and its sort of long but ill try to explain it. Most of it you can ignore.
    Anyway i'm making a tree menu with only 1 level of expansion. So you have a TreeMenu object, and this object has some Branch classes. These Branch classes have Leaf classes. That is all. On the menu there is also a little box where you can click to expand and collapse each branch. if a branch is expanded, all of its leaves are shown. if it is collapsed only the branch name is shown.
    So far what I've described above works, there is a small scale compilable working program, that is alright. Theres just a few bugs to fix.
    A little feature of the tree is if a branch or a leaf is selected (has been clicked on in the past) it has a blue background. This sort of works. The branch names seem to work alright, and some of the leaves. However other if you run the example i provided you can click on Leaf 1, and it will be ok, but if you click on Leaf 2 then there blue background is twice as big as it should be. But for the rest, it works ok.
    This is weird to me because the same code handles any of these same situations. So it seems that i get 2 diferent results with the same code. If anyone would like to help heres some stuff you should know:
    You can ignore Leaf class, i dont think theres any errors in there.
    You can ignore just about all of Branch class except the update() method.
    You can ignore all of TreeMenu class except the inner MouseListener class might be useful.
    You can ignore TreeTester. Just the JFrame tester class.
    to run the code:
    javac TreeMenu.java
    java TreeMenu

    thanks.

    You make a good point Stefan but unfortunately I already checked that.  I have even copied the mapping (right click copy) and pasted it from the working Mapping to the bad Map (Paste) to make sure the context values were all the same.
    I also opened all the queues and compared the values in each.  All values match exactly except for the result(out) queue.
    In both tests I am using the same IDOC XML file.
    These are the only differences I see.
    1.  The IDOC is exactly the same as far as I can tell but they come from two different source SWCV.  SAP APPL 4.7 and Steelcase_Procurement (ECC 6.0).
    2.  The working map uses a local UDF.  The bad map calls the UDF from a Function Group.  Is there a Java version difference between the two?
    A better sample of the result queues look like this:
    Correct Result:
    Thickness of Glass: 20
    Height: 10
    Width: 5
    Length: 18
    Thickness of Glass: 10
    Height: 15
    Width: 8
    Length: 14
    Bad Result:
    Thickness of Glass: 20
    <null>
    <null>
    <null>
    Width: 5
    <null>
    <null>
    <null>
    I took this chance to redesign my Variant Config output to separate the characteristics/values, but I'm still bothered that I was unable to determine what would cause the differing values.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • Why do I get two different results from the same coefficients?

    I am getting two different results from the Polynomial Evaluation function.
    For the first one, I am getting the coefficients from a Polynomial Fit function.  I feed the coefficients from the Fit function into the Poly Eval function and get the correct result of 12.8582 when I evaluate 49940.
    For the second one, I create constant array of the SAME values that were returned from the Polynomial Fit function (i typed them in).  However, I am getting an incorrect result of -120.7913 when I feed the constant array into the Poly Eval function when I evauate 49940.
    How can this happen when I am using the same array values?

    Hi Altran,
    are you sure about using the "same" coefficients?
    Did you compare them? Did you (atleast) set the display properties to 17 significant digits?
    Please attach a VI instead of a picture...

  • Different view of the same query between users

    Hi at all,
    I strongly hope you can help me.
    The problem that i have is that:
    I have a different view of a query inserted in a workbook respect the view of the same query that have other users.
    In particular I watch in my query 4 fixed characteristic of the query ( Cost center, order type , controlling area, fiscal variant ), below the free characteristic block  and before data table.
    Instead other user watch only 3 fixed characteristics ( Cost center, order type , controlling area ).
    This is a problem because in the workbook there is a macro that reads the data from a fixed raw. So that this macro doesn't' t work in my workbook.
    I would specify that the workbooks is called from rules and not from fevorites.
    Thank you very much for your attention!

    i have the SAPGUI version 3500.8.044 and the item you describes :
    Bex menu ( Business explorer -> Change Query -> Change variable values )
    let me to change the values of input variables.
    The new layout query, after the input of the new values, has the same rows of the fixed query value ( fyscal variant too).
    Thank you for your answer..

  • UDF has 2 different results with the same input

    Hello,
    I have two mappings of the ORDERS idoc.  In both mappings I use the following UDF function to create a long string output:
    public void matConfig(String[] CHAR, String[] CHARTXT, String[] VALUE, String[] VALUETXT, String[] POSEX, String[] LINE, ResultList result, Container container) throws StreamTransformationException{
    int i, j;
    String crlf = "\r\n";
    StringBuffer matConfig;
    j = 0;
    for (i = 0; i < POSEX.length; i++) {
      matConfig = new StringBuffer();
      while (LINE.length > j && Integer.parseInt(POSEX<i>) == Integer.parseInt(LINE[j])) {
        if (matConfig.length() > 0)
          matConfig.append(crlf);
        if ((CHARTXT[j].length() > 0) || (CHAR[j].length() > 0)) {
          if (CHARTXT[j].length() > 0)
            matConfig.append(CHARTXT[j]);
          else
            matConfig.append(CHAR[j]);
          matConfig.append(" : ");
          if (VALUETXT<i>.length() > 0)
            matConfig.append(VALUETXT[j]);
          else
            matConfig.append(VALUE[j]);
          j++;
      result.addValue(matConfig.toString());
      result.addContextChange();
    I have checked the queues of all the inbound fields and the values match exactly but in one mapping the output in the queue for this UDF looks like this:
    Correct Result:
    Thickness of Glass: 20 Height: 10 Width: 5 Length: 18
    Thickness of Glass: 10 Height: 15 Width: 8 Length: 14
    Bad Result:
    Thickness of Glass: 20
    Width: 5
    How can the same input using the same java code (cut and pasted to make sure it matched) return 2 different values.  I have verified that they both use the same Imports as well.  The bad one is part of a function library while the good one is a local function.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Matt

  • Process emthod in RT.jar producing different result for the same input

    Hi All
    I'm using the process method to manage my prcoess and Runtime to run a command, on onc pc it works fine but on the other it dosen't even though the input are the same, both pc are windows xp. Also there is a debug options which uses log4j, when that is set to true it adds more logging to the code and the code works fine if that is turned on (but there is not a different course of action if debug mode is on, just more logging i.e. if debug.enabled logInfo("more loggin").

  • Returning Different Results for the  Same Search Value

    I'm creating a word list and I'm using Lookup to find text entries in column D and return values from column A. I can manage one result based on the search criteria however I'm wondering if it's possible to return multiple entries from column A if multiple matches are found in column D:
    As you can see I'm trying to use the formula =LOOKUP("Aggression",D,A) to find all the instances of "Aggression" in column D and return all the corresponding results from column A (audacious, barefaced, and depredation). Lookup however only returns the last match (depredation).

    I wish you'd shown where your LOOKUP function is located and what you're trying to do with it. Are you going to be using these results in another function? Or are you simply wanting to display the results of your search?
    If the latter, there's an elegant way to make this happen. Let's create a single-cell table on the same page, holding the word you're searching for. (Ideally, this could be a drop-down list -- and that can be made to dynamicly hold all the discrete values in column D -- but that's another discussion.) Let's call this table "Search".
    Add a column (which can be hidden) to your original table. Let's insert this next to your column D, making it column E. Cell E2 contains =IF($D2=Search :: $A$1,TRUE,FALSE). Drag/copy that down the column. You'll now have a value of TRUE in this column for all the words you're looking for. Now click on the top of this column E and click "Show More Options".... and click on "Show rows that match the following". Set it to show where Column E is true. You now show only the words in which the "category" matches the search word.
    Change the word in your Search table, and the display of your original table automatically adjusts.
    The nice part is that the entire line is displayed so you can see definitions and contexts as well.

  • Different results running the same Javascript - CC vs CS6

    I'm having some issues setting a text field's font size using Javascript. For some reason I always get 2.88 point font as opposed to what I set it at (in this case it's 12). Anyone know what is wrong here and why PS isn't recognizing the command to set the font size?
    #9740928 - Pastie
    Line 42 is where I'm setting the size.
    Line 27 is where the variable is defined. I've tried just punching in an integer with the same results.
    Thank you for any help.
    So I think there might be an issue with Adobe CC or perhaps some changes in it's developement as far as how it's handling Javascript. I've ran multiple tests today and did some reading. At the end of the line I decided to try the script out on CS6 and I got the correct results. So the script works on CS6, but not CC? I made an example script that I did my tests on for the Adobe team to take a peak at. It's at the end of this post.
    I'm no script master by any stretch of the imagination, but I find it odd that this script works properly on Adobe CS6, but does not modify the font size correctly on Adobe CC. I'd expect that same results. If any of you come up with anything please let me know. Cheers.

    preferences.rulerUnits = Units.PIXELS;
    var AD = activeDocument ;

    var TextLayer = AD.artLayers.add();
          TextLayer.kind = LayerKind.TEXT;
          TextLayer.opacity = 90;
           var txtRef = TextLayer.textItem;
                txtRef.font = "Impact";
                txtRef.contents = theSize;  //The defined size of 53 is reflected accurately in CS6 but when this script is ran on CC it is not. Sometimes it's 12, sometimes it's 2.88.
                txtRef.size = theSize;
    //END OF THE SCRIPT

  • Two different Resultsets for the same query (running at the same time)

    I am using the Thin Driver for Oracle 8.1.6. I am invoking queries in multithreading mode (each thread has his own connection to the oracle DB). If i am invoking the same SQL-Statement in two different threads nearly at the same time, only the ResultSet of the first query is complete. The ResultSet of the second query is not complete (the number of tuples differs each time I run the program). Principally the two ResultSets should be the same (no changes are done at the same time in the DB), but they are not.
    Anybody knows this problem and knows how to solve it? Principally read accesses on DBs should not make such trouble ...
    I hope anybody can help me.

    As this BADI is having option checked 'Multiple use'. You can implement multiple implementations.
    You need not to deactivate the existing implementation.

    Edited by: Shenshah on Jun 12, 2008 3:23 AM

    If you look at the API docs you will see that PrintStream has multiple println methods.
    Each of your println calls invokes different one.
    System.out.println(a);calls println(char[]) which according to the docs prints the characters in the array.. ("abcd" in this case)
    System.out.println(a+"") calls println(String). concatenating the empty string to a causes a.toString() to be invoked and the "address info" that you see is the result of that toString() call.

  • How can I match the line thicknesses in different sizes of the same font?

    I'm working on a graphic that includes a handwriting font, and I'd like some text to be larger than others. The obvious issue is that when I make the font larger, the lines also get thicker. Has anyone found a good solution for this problem, other than limiting the design options to large font families with lots of weights? I do employee communications design work for a call center, so purchasing a big font set for internal communications isn't an option.
    I've tried to "hide" some of the larger text's thickness by adding a white stroke to it, or by hiding the font edges with a mask, and I've also tried artificially "bolding" or adding a stroke to the smaller text. They all result in noticably distorted text, particularly around corners, and the results are particularly horrible when using something with texture, like a chalkboard font. I haven't had any better luck in Illustrator, either.
    I'm sure I'm not the only one out there who wants to simulate the look of one person writing in different sizes with the same writing utensil. Beyond writing it myself (my handwriting is ugly), can you think of any solutions I haven't tried?
    Thanks in advance!
    Paula

    Thanks, I'll try the Min/Max and see if that works any better. The final output in this case is pixel based, for use in PowerPoint and in email headers. I often do my text work in Illustrator, but in this case I was trying to simulate writing on a chalkboard, so I started in Photoshop so I could see how it looked against the background as I worked. I actually face this challenge fairly frequently, though.
    The team I design for is virtual, with over 700 people spread across the US and up into Canada. For that reason, I like to use the "hand drawn" look on occasion to bring some warmth and personal touch to the communications, to contrast with all the super-polished "high gloss" graphics they look at all day in their work tools. It's a real challenge to find text and artwork that matches well once scaled to fit my documents, especially since most of the vector-based artwork I find online has already been converted to outlines, so it doesn't retain the same stroke thickness when the images are scaled.
    If anyone out there knows of an illustrator who doesn't convert their sketch-style graphics or fonts/typography to outlines before putting it up for use, either on Shutterstock or on any free site (since those are the ones I can use) I'd love to hear about it!
