Search help on a field with value range

Hi,
I have a z-table. One of its fields has a z-data element with z-domain which has a value range. I have a requirement to add a search help on selection screen field which is parameter for mentioned field of my z-table. How can I do that?

Hi,
Where you want to add the search help, i mean in report or in screen painter.
In Screen painter, you can take the reference of Z-Data Element by Dictionary option in Screen layout.
If it is report, you can use F4 function module(F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUES) or can creat the elementary search help in DDIC and give it as MATCHCODE OBJECT in PARAMETER statement.

    ZMATLONG which stores material number.
    Now the data element is zdmat which is of char 40..
    Now i want to give search help for this field ZMATLONG..
    I have tried many ways giving search help to this field
    a) i Tried to attach the standard search help of MATNR ie : MAT1 but its showing me data type inconsistancy
    b) i created a zsearch help and in the selection method i have used database table mara , again here iam getting the same error data type inconsistancy...
    Now how can i give the search help like matnr field to my custom field ZMATLONG...
    How can i do it..?

    Hi,
    MATNR ahs length 18 and ZMATLONG has length 40.So due to this u cannot use MAT1 search help.
    best way would be cope MAT1 into Z search help. Then in the search help parameter change the data element of field
    MATNR as ZMATLONG.
    Now if you assign Z search help to ZMATLONG  it will work.
    I tried this its working fine.

    Write a select on DD07L table by passing DOMNAME and get DOMVALUE_L & DOMVALUE_H which has the domain values and validate accordingly ... You can get the domain name of a data element from DD04L table where pass the data element name in ROLLNAME and get DOMNAME ...

    how r u all doing.
    i have some questions for u.
    1. How can i delete some entries(from a list of many) from search help of a field with out (writing)going to a program.
    2.in PA10 (Personnel File),when i try to display data for a pernr,i am getting an error saying that infotype 122 doesnot exist.
    3.Again in Pa20,when i try to display data for a custom infotype,it leads me to short dump saying that load program does not exist.

       Just attach a  custom search help to this field and then in the search help EXIT(RFC enabled Function module) write the logic to reterive the values from R/3.

    We have designed a GUI for supply invoice approval workflow with table control.
    In the table control fields, we assigned one search help on one field.
    We can enter the values(F4 Help) up 8 row in the default screen, which is having 8 row.
    After scrolling down for 9th row, I am not getting any F4 help, which I am able to get upto 8 rows.
    Please any one could help me in this...

    Did you assign the search help to the <b>Search Help</b> of the <b>Attributes -> Dictionary</b> tab of the field?
    Irrespective of scrolling, the F4 help should work for the field in table control.

  • Search help for screen fields in module pool

    Hi All,
    I have a screen in Module pool which has 3 input fields, each input field is attached to the same search help.
    These fields are from ztable . I have created a search help USING these 3 fields. All the 3 fields are marked for IMPORT and EXPORT.
    So whenever i click F4 on any of the above 3 fields, It will display search help popup and returns some rows...But the values are transfered back only for 1 fields ..i.e for the first field only .
    I want that ...as soon as i select any of the row from Search hit list..all the 3 columns should get populated with corresponding fields from that row.
    I require it this way as user wants to select based on * selection.Ex: as then every this related to that should be popped up.
    Pls help ASAP

    When you go to screen painer, in screen painter attributes window, there is an atribute called search help, fill it.
    Another way is, after PAI put:
    PROCESS ON VALUE-REQUEST.
      FIELD box_no MODULE f1_help_box_no.
    And gives logic in that module using FM F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST.

    I want to create a search help for a field. I have a field 'country' in my Ztable. Now I want to create a search help for that field so that they appear in the SM30 transaction while entering the data into the table. How can I do that?

    First of all if the field is country and you want to display all the countries avaiable in SAP in the search help then yuo dont need to create search help for that. For that field put the data element LAND1. The F4 help will automatically appear in SM30 and when you press F4 all the countries will be displayed in the hit list.
    Now suppose there is a case where you want to display selected values only  and not all the countries in your search help then one way is to create a z-table of countries and put all the countries you want in that table then create z-data element and z-domain for that country field and in domain give the table as a value table.
    Another way is to create a view for T005  and T005T table and give the selection conditions as per your requirement and then create the search help with this view and attache the search help to your country field.

    I want to ehance a filed's search help in t-code f-02.
    requirement is as below.
    when you click one field's sech help in t-code f-02. A search help pop-up window will display. In this pop-up window, there are several tabs.  I want to add a new tab in this pop-up window.
    In this new tab, I want to add 2 new fields (for example, company code & bank code) in this tab. each tab also has search help.
    And also if I input value "1000" in the company code field, the search help value of field bank code will automatically relate to "1000".
    could anyone give me a solution or suggestion?

    1. You can add new fields in the complex search help of the field
    by editing the search help exit. please check search help have any search help exit attached to it.

    1) Elementary search helps describe a search path. The elementary search help must define where the data of the hit list should be read from (selection method), how the exchange of values between the screen template and selection method is implemented (interface of the search help) and how the online input help should be defined (online behavior of the search help).
    2) Collective search helps combine several elementary search helps. A collective search help thus can offer several alternative search paths.
    3)An elementary search help defines the standard flow of an input help.
    4) A collective search help combines several elementary search helps. The user can thus choose one of several alternative search paths with a collective search help.
    5)A collective search help comprises several elementary search helps. It combines all the search paths that are meaningful for a field.
    6)Both elementary search helps and other search helps can be included in a collective search help. If other collective search helps are contained in a collective search help, they are expanded to the level of the elementary search helps when the input help is called.
    CREATION:
    Go to SE11  Tcode
    select search help
    give the 'z' search help name and create
    select the selection method ur table name eg : 'mara'
    dialog module 'display value immediately'.
    add the field whatever u want and lpos = 1 and spos = 1 and check import and export parameter.
    where left position when displaying and spos = search position
    and then save and activate ..

    i m new to abap.
    my pp consultant wants that in transaction MM03, for the field on selection screen (Material) one more search help should be added. and on pressing f4 it should be displayed there with other search options.
    The search field is "(Document)-Number of the drawing that exists for this object".
    Note: To see this field run transaction MM03, enter a material and press enter then we get a screen to choose a view. choose basic data2. In the block "design drawing" there is a field for "Document".
    is it possible? if yes how much time it would take and to do it.

    Name of a search help
    A search help is an object of the ABAP Dictionary with which input helps
    (F4 helps) can be defined.
    There are the following types of search helps:
    o Elementary search helps implement a search path for determining the
    possible entries.
    o Collective search helps contain several elementary search helps. A
    collective search help therefore provides several alternative search
    paths for possible entries.
    o Append search helps can be used to enhance collective search helps
    delivered by SAP with customer-specific search paths without
    requiring a modification.
    The three components of the input help process described by a search
