Search multiple files (sqldeveloper 1.5.1)

I'm pretty sure this (subject above) can't be done with SQLdeveloper. Just need a final 'nope' on this, and maybe also wether this will eventually (timeframe?) be supported by SQLDeveloper.
I'm looking into moving from JDeveloper to SQLDeveloper. I use JDeveloper currently to develop and maintain database scripts. It has a search across files option, which I use heavily.
Thanks,
Toon

I noticed a similar problem. I was running a long running query, and wanted to open another worksheet to run a different query against the same database. The message came back that the connection was busy.
So, I switched back to PL/SQL Developer, which allows multiple windows to the same database to run queries at the same time.

  • How do I search for a word through multiple files in my directories ??

    Hello everyone
    How do I search for a word through multiple files in my directories ??
    I am guessing one tedious way to do it would be to pass all the file names as command line arguments but I"m sure there exist a much easier and faster way to do it.
    Thanks a lot

    You need to pass only the directory name as parameter and then retrieve the files(recursively throug subdirs or not, however you wish) of that directory.
    There were at least 2 threads yesterday on how to retrieve files from directory, and there are many others in the archive so I leave the search part to you ;)

  • Search multiple folders and muiltiple files and combine to single file

     I want to search multiple folders for muliple files and combine to single file name. The files I'm searching have same format, but where named
    differently in each of there processes. Now I want to combine based upon -SearchFor .. I'm having a problem with -Filter $SearchFor
    Code:
    Function Search-Files{
    Param([String[]]$Locations,[String[]]$SearchFor, $AppendTo)
    Begin
    If(-Not (Test-Path $AppendTo)){New-Item $AppendTo -ItemType File -Force}
    Process
    ForEach($Location in $Locations)
    $Files = Get-ChildItem -Path $Location -Filter $SearchFor -Recurse
    ForEach($File in $Files)
    Get-Content -Path $FIles.FullName | Out-File $AppendTo -Append
    End{}
    Search-Files -Locations "\\servera\public\t1\usa\saleshist\","\\serverb\public\t2\usa\saleshist\",-SearchFor "dodetail-cm.txt","somstr.txt",-AppendTo "\\virt1\Saleshist_data_load_files\saleshdr.load.csv"

    I think you might want to use -Include instead of -Filter.  Your -Include parameter accepts wildcards, i.e. *.docx or *somstr.txt
    Your command to actually append the content should be:
    Get-Content -Path $File.FullName | Out-File $AppendTo -Append
    You had $Files.FullName which might behave unexpectedly, if at all.
    Your actual command has several issues.
    Search-Files -Locations "\\servera\public\t1\usa\saleshist\","\\serverb\public\t2\usa\saleshist\" -SearchFor "dodetail-cm.txt","somstr.txt" -AppendTo "\\virt1\Saleshist_data_load_files\saleshdr.load.csv"
    You had commas following the lists of locations and searchfor terms, did that even work? Without seeing your source files or your target file I can only advise you so much, but ideally you would import-csv and export-csv.  Depending on the contents,
    you may be able to get away with get-content and out-file though.
    I hope this post has helped!

  • Multiple file search and replace

    Does anyone know if it is possible to do search / replaces in script, text etc over multiple files?  If not, is there any 3rd party software available to do it?
    I have hundreds of files I have to make the same change in and just wanted to find out before I have to do the mind-numbing process of going through them all.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated!

    Depending upon what type of files and what kind of changes you need to make, sure you can. You can do a google search for 'binary search and replace'; here's one of the first results, which searches for and replaces strings in multiple text and/or binary files:

  • Does a Flash library symbol search extension exist that can search across multiple files?

    Hi, I'm working on a large animation project with an extensive symbol library that exists across multiple files. I would like to know if such a tool exists that can search between all of these files for specific symbols. This would save me a great deal of time and I would be very grateful for any suggestions. We are using Flash CS5 primarily. Thanks.

    Thanks! I appriciate you confirming this for me

  • Search multiple folders for files with same name and create single file

     I have a project where I need to search multiple folders for a file name and when found append data from each file to a single input file.
     Example
    root folder to start search
    \\servera\sales
    \\servera\it\salesa\cmmstr.txt
    \\servera\it\salesb\cmmstr.txt
    \\servera\it\salesc\cmmstr.txt
     I need to create a a single cmmstr.txt on the root folder. I would like it to be able to run this with parms to pass in folders to search and file names to search and single file name to create. I'm going to have a least 10 differnt files to
    search for and create output file for. The folders to search
    will somewhat be static.
     Thanks.

    I tested this out on my own seat and I think it should work for you. I wrote it as a function, all you have to do is pass the root folders you want to search and the file your looking for. The function will then search that directory and all sub directories
    for that file name. you will also have to provide it a file to append to, if the file dosen't exists the function will create it. If you run into an issues let me know and the links Mike

  • Struggling to search for multiple files

    Hi there,
    I am struggling to do a search / select for multiple files.
    Here is my workflow:
    I have 2 computers, the one is used for all image manipulation using a combination of LR & PS and the other computer is used for the sales presentation using ProSelect.
    Once I am finished with my post production I export all the images to my sales presentation computer in JPG file format.
    After the sales presentation I then want to be able to Star the images they purchased on my post production computer. Currently I have been doing this manually, although time comsuming not too bad when you are only talking 20 images. However this is not working for weddings when looking at 150-200 images.
    This is what I have tried. I did an export of filenames from ProSelect. I then removed the suffix i.e. .jpg. In Lightroom I select the Filter Bar, Text, Any searchabe Text, Contains and then paste in the list of filenames. After quite a while it will come back and say no images found or it might come up with only the 1st image in the list. I have tried several combinations of formating the list of filenames and none seem to work i.e. spaces, commas, semi-colon, each filename in "".
    If anyone can help me in this regard I would be very grateful.
    Thanks
    Tony

    If you have the file names of the photos, you can simply paste the text containing the file names into the filter bar text search (set the filter bar to search by file name)
    For example, here's a short list of filenames that I would paste into the filter bar if I was searching my photos

  • Efficient way of searching multiple xml files for multiple entries

    As Im quite new to using xml in java I can't figure out how to solve my problem.
    I've got about 20 xml files, each about 500-1000kB big. each files contains about 500 questions, each with a unique ID.
    A user had to be capable of entering any number of ',' separated id's, and the program needs to show the user the questions.
    Using a SQL server this would be easy, but in this situation I can't. As this had to be a small program I can't add a 10MB jar file either, nor can I ask the users to install an additional program.
    Creating a brute search will be easy, but searching 20MB of xml files multiple times will be hard even for a modern PC.
    So my question is: What will be the most efficient way of searching these files?
    Hope that someone will be kind enough to respond :)
    Rick

    I'd still go with a database. There are databases that are significantly more light-weight than MS SQL Server.
    More concretely there are databases that run completely in memory. HSQLDB is one, Java DB (formerly Derby) is another one.
    I'd parse the XML files once, add them to the database and query from there later on.
    If even that is to complicated for you, then you could simply parse the XML files once and put the Questions into a HashMap with the ID as the key.

  • How can I search for files on multiple servers at one time?

    When I hit command+F, and use spotlight to search for files, I'm only given the opportunity to search for those files in three places: "This Mac", "Shared", and then the server or external HD that is mounted. However, in the past I was able to check a box for all mounted/connected servers/HDs, and then do a search in all of them at the same time. I CAN'T FIND THIS OPTION IN LEOPARD AND IT IS ANNOYING ME BIG TIME.
    Hopefully there is a simple solution that I've overlooked.

  • Convert multiple files (word docs) to multiple pdf

    Hi,
    Is there a script I can use in batch processing to convert about 1500 word documents into pdf? I know it's possible to convert multiple files into one pdf, but this is no good to me. Doing these conversions one by one is going to take forever!
    I've tried selecting a few documents at a time and then selecting "convert to pdf" from the right-click menu, but each one requires that you tell it where to save, and then opens the file when it is done.
    I need to convert Word files on a regular basis for work, and could really use a batch process for this with so many to do!
    I have Acrobat 7 Pro (version 7.1.0) on XP Pro SP 2 at work, and Acrobat 8 Pro (Version 8.1.2) on XP Pro SP 3 at home.
    If there is anyway it's possible to do this via a batch process I would really appreciate knowing how!!
    Apologies if this has been covered in another thread, I searched but couldn't find anything.
    Thanks in advance :)

    I have Acrobat 9 Pro. I can batch convert Word docs to PDFs by doing this:
    1. Open Acrobat Pro. Click File > Create PDF > Batch Create Multiple Files...
    2. A window will open prompting you to add files. Click Add Files > Add Files... OR Add Folders... If adding a folder, navigate to it, and click OK to add it to the list. You can also select a bunch of files and drag & drop them into the Add Files window.
    3. Once you have all the files listed that you want to convert, click OK. A new window called Output Options will open. In this window, select your preferred settings. For me, I want all the new PDFs to have the same filename and be in the same folder as the Word docs, so I choose these settings:
    4. Click OK, and then the batch process will begin running. You will see Word opening and closing. However, you won't have to click Save or anything. You can run it unattended. The process takes a little while, so I usually set up a batch to run, then go to lunch. Once finished, you should have all your new PDFs:
    Hope that helps someone!

  • How can I upload multiple files in a master detail relationship?

    I would like to be able to upload several files for one record (a one to many relationship). I tried using a master detail form, but the tabular form does not support file browse. I've searched the forum and found several examples asking how to upload multiple files at once. That is not what I'm trying to do. I simply want the user to browse, select a file, provide a file name and description. Then select the next file. When they are done selecting files (it may be one file or many files) I want them to hit the submit button and I'll run a procedure that saves the files to the database.
    How can I do this? Thanks, you guys are the best. Elizabeth

    Elizabeth,
    I had this situation come up once and here's what I did, thought it may not be exactly what you're looking for.
    I created a collection to store the ID's of the files that had been uploaded, along with the key and other information. The file browse input will upload your files into the wwv_flow_files table on submit. I was storing the documents in another application table.
    The after submit process grabs the id from wwv_flow_files where the name is = to your file input.
    After you add that ID and your associated master key in the collection, your final submit process fetches the files from wwv_flow_files and inserts them into your own table.
    I can put an example on apex.oracle.com if that would be helpful.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • Read multiple files and save all into one output file(AGAIN)

    Hi, guys
    I need your help for reading data from multiple files and save the results into one output file. As you can see, all input files saved in array called files, however when OpenFile1() function is called, it take input (fileName_in) as a single file not an array. I'm assuming this causes the exception.
    When there's muptiple inputs, program should take each file from getFileName() to outputToFile() sequentially.
    Does anybody have an idea to solve this?
    Thanks a lot!!

    you naming convention is confussing. you should follows Java naming convention..you have a getXXX but decalred the return type as "void"...get usully means to return something...
    your code is doing too much..and hard to follows..
    1. get the selected files
    for each selected file
    process the file and return the result
    write out the result.

  • Automator or Apple Script To Move Multiple Files to Multiple Folders

    I was just wondering, is there any sort of automator workflow or maybe apple script that will allow me to automate the following:
    I have a folder named SCANS containing multiple different files that need to go to multiple different folders.
    So Say I have:
    SCANS
    and in this folder I have ten files named A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I,J and I want each of these files to be moved to different folders eg.
    A I want to go to folder 1
    B I want to go to folder 2
    C I want to go to folder 3 etc etc.
    Anyone know if there is a way of doing this please?
    I have tried a workflow where I find finder items in the Scans folder and move to another but that only seems to work for one file.  When I add more it does not seem to work.
    Any help/guidance would be appreciated.
    Thank you!

    Hi Niel,
    Not quite what I wanted because I missed some information from my question....
    What I actually want is to search for files containing certain text in the name and if positive to then move that file to the specified folders.
    Cheers.

    目前我的解决方案是,把多个文件提前修改成数字序列,然后用for循环调用,我想问的是,如果我不更改文件名,是否也可以同时导入多个文件?
    At present my solution is to advance the multiple files modified into a sequence of Numbers, and then use a for loop calls, I want to ask is, if I don't change the file name, also can import multiple files at the same time?

    You could use a file or folder selection dialog and then feed the selected files into the for-clause.
    var aFile = selectFile(true);
    alert (aFile);
    ////// select file //////
    function selectFile (multi) {
    if (multi == true) {var theString = "please select files"}
    else {var theString = "please select one file"};
    if ($.os.search(/windows/i) != -1) {var theFiles = File.openDialog (theString, '*.jpg;*.tif;*.psd;*.png', multi)}
    else {var theFiles = File.openDialog (theString, getFiles, multi)};
    ////// filter files  for mac //////
    function getFiles (theFile) {
        if (theFile.name.match(/\.(jpg|tif|psd|png)$/i) || theFile.constructor.name == "Folder") {
            return true
    return theFiles
