Search Query results in client side coding

Hi,
We need to query search results links passing refiners (preferable client side code as server side deployments need to avoid to possible extend) and update links in a list item.
We need to access search from different Site collection. (e.g. search site URL is http://searchxyz.hitachi.com
 and the list which we need to update is in site (http://siteabc.hitachi.comm  )
We are able to get search results with search on same site collection using JSOM/REST API (in my example http://siteabc.hitachi.com ) but facing challenge while trying to  query search from different site collection on different
web application (in my example http://searchxyz.hitachi.com )
Any working/POC  code snippet will help us for above scenario . Your inputs will be appreciated.
Please let us know if need any more details.
Thanks

Hi Raghu,
Based on your description, my understanding is that you cannot get search results from another site collection in different web application when using JSOM/REST API.
Are you using SharePoint 2010 or SharePoint 2013?
For this issue, I recommend to verify the things below first:
Search with the same keyword in the browser of the site
http://searchxyz.hitachi.com to see if the results can be returned.
Check if the Search Service Application has been associated with the web application where the site
http://searchxyz.hitachi.com exists.
Thanks,
Victoria

  • How to display query results in windows side by side in Access 2010

    In Access 2010 - when I open a query the result is desplayed in a tab.
    When I open a new query - a new tab is created - now in front of the other tab.
    I would like to see both queries at the same time.
    How is that done?

    Select File > Options.
    Click 'Current Database' in the navigation pane on the left.
    Under 'Document window options', select 'Overlapping Windows'.
    Click OK, then close and reopen the database.

  • Crystal report: client-side printing problem

    Hello everyone,
    I developed an asp.net web application / c # - VS2012 - crystal Repport (CRforVS_13_0_5) on windows 7 pro 32 bits, everything is ok even print reports.
    The problem is that when hosting the web application in IIS on the same machine (Windows 7 pro 32 bit) printing the report (crystal report) does not work;
    my code behind:
    ReportDocument cryRpt = new ReportDocument;
      string path = "../rpt/demande.rpt";
      cryRpt.Load(Server.MapPath(@path));
      ParameterFieldDefinitions crParameterFieldDefinitions;
      ParameterFieldDefinition crParameterFieldDefinition;
      ParameterValues crParameterValues = new ParameterValues();
      ParameterDiscreteValue crParameterDiscreteValue = new ParameterDiscreteValue();
      crParameterDiscreteValue.Value = "value";
      crParameterFieldDefinitions = cryRpt.DataDefinition.ParameterFields;
      crParameterFieldDefinition = crParameterFieldDefinitions["val"];
      crParameterValues = crParameterFieldDefinition.CurrentValues;
      crParameterValues.Clear();
      crParameterValues.Add(crParameterDiscreteValue);
      crParameterFieldDefinition.ApplyCurrentValues(crParameterValues);
      cryRpt.SetDatabaseLogon(user, pw);
      CrystalReportViewer1.Visible = true;
      CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = cryRpt;
      cryRpt.PrintToPrinter(1, false, 0, 0);
    how to print the report on the client side?

    The search term 'crystal net client side print' brings up the following (amongst many other):
    KBA: 1214466 - How to print a report from a .NET Web application
    KBA: 1216932 - How to print directly to a printer instead of PDF in a CR 10 ASP.NET application
    KBA: 1983821 - How to achieve client side printing without using the Crystal Reports viewer
    The above should help you out. BTW.; the search box is in the top right corner.

  • Af:query client side validation

    Hello,
    I have an application with 2 ViewObjects (based on SQL), each with its own ViewCriteria. I have 2 pages, each containing 1 of the ViewCriteria as af:query with results table. Each ViewCriteria has a number of fields, all f which are selectively required.
    Now, when I go to page A, leave all fields empty and hit 'search', my fields get marked immediately as 'you need to enter at least one of the criteria'. No server request, just pure client validation, as you'd expect. Now we go to page B, doing exactly the same (empty fields, search). I see a lot of activity now, a server request, a query executed, and then a stacktrace saying 'at least 1 attribute is required'. In the front end, I also get a popup saying I have to enter at least 1 value.
    Does anyone have any idea why the validation for both af:query components is different? Both ViewObject look the same to me, with same properties and attributes set.
    Thanks in advance,
    Stijn.

    Thanks for the reply, Vinod.
    The problem still persists, though. We're working with version 11.1.3 (where the issue should be fixed), and it doesn't happen every time. 8 out of 10 af:query-components we use go to the server before validating the input, resulting in a popup. The other 2 do client-side validation and immediately tell you to fill in the blanks (which is the behaviour we want)...

  • Using the client result cache without the query result cache

    I have constructed a client in C# using ODP.NET to connect to an Oracle database and want to perform client result caching for some of my queries.
    This is done using a result_cache hint in the query.
    select /*+ result_cache */ * from table
    As far as I can tell query result caching on the server is done using the same hint, so I was wondering if there was any way to differentiate between the two? I want the query results to be cached on the client, but not on the server.
    The only way I have found to do this is to disable all caching on the server, but I don't want to do this as I want to use the server cache for PL/SQL function results.
    Thanks.

    You haven't provided ANY information about how you configured the result cache. Different parameters are used for configuring the client versus the server result cache so you need to post what, if anything, you configured.
    Post the code you executed when you set the 'client_result_cache_lag' and 'client_result_cache_size' parameters so we can see what values you used. Also post the results of querying those parameters after you set them that show that they really are set.
    You also need to post your app code that shows that you are using the OCI statements are used when you want to use client side result cacheing.
    See the OCI dev guide
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28395/oci10new.htm#sthref1491
    Statement Caching in OCI
    Statement caching refers to the feature that provides and manages a cache of statements for each session. In the server, it means that cursors are ready to be used without the need to parse the statement again. Statement caching can be used with connection pooling and with session pooling, and will improve performance and scalability. It can be used without session pooling as well. The OCI calls that implement statement caching are:
      OCIStmtPrepare2()
      OCIStmtRelease()

  • Fetching a partial range of selected result rows from the client side

    It has been a while since I started trying to solve this Oracle puzzle.
    Basically, what I need it is a way to fetch from the client side a run-time
    defined range of result rows of a arbitrary SELECT query.
    In low-end databases like MySQL I can do it simply by appending the LIMIT
    argument to the end of the SELECT query statment passing the number of
    the first row that I want to be returned from the server from the total
    result rows available in the result set and the maximum number of rows
    that it may return if available.
    In higher end databases I am supposed to use server side cursors to skip
    any initial rows before the first that I want to retrieve and fetch only
    the rows I want up to the given limit.
    I am able to achieve this with PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL server, but I
    am having a hard time with Oracle. The main problem is how do I fetch
    result rows from a server side cursor and have their data returned to a
    client side in a result set like in a straight SELECT query?
    I was able to create a cursor and fecth a row into a server side record
    variable with the following PL/SQL code.
    DECLARE
    CURSOR c IS SELECT * FROM my_table;
    my_row c%ROWTYPE;
    BEGIN
    OPEN c;
    FETCH c INTO my_row;
    CLOSE c;
    END;
    I want to do this from PHP, so I don't have client side ESQL variables to
    store the result set data structure. Anyway, if I can do it just with
    SQLPlus I should be able to do it in PHP.
    If I do straight SELECT I can get the result set, but in a PL/SQL script
    like the one above I don't seem to be able to select the data in the
    fetched row record to have returned to the client. Does a straight SELECT
    query sends the result rows to a default client side variable?
    If anybody can help, I would appreciate if you could mail me at
    [email protected] because I am not able to access this forum all the time in
    the Web. BTW, is it possible to access this forum by e-mail?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello Jason,
    On 03-Feb-00 05:34:14, you wrote:
    I'm not sure I totally understand your problem, but I think you might be able
    to solve it by using the ROWNUM variable. ROWNUM returns the sequenc number
    in which a row was returned when first selected from a table. The first row
    has ROWNUM = 1, the second has ROWNUM = 2, etc. Just remember that the
    ROWNUM is assigned as soon as it's selected, even before an order by. So if
    you have an order by clause, it'll mess it up. Here's an example. I hope
    that helps.I though of that before but it doesn't help because if you use ORDER BY the
    first result row might not have ROWNUM=1 and so on. Another issue is that
    I want to be able to skip a given number of result rows before returning
    anything to the client.
    The only way I see to do it is to get the rows with server side cursor.
    But how do I return them to the client? Where does a normal select returns
    the rows? Isn't there a way to specify that the fetch or something else
    return the rows there?

  • Client side result set cache

    Hello,
    I try to get the client side result set cache working, but i have no luck :-(
    I'm using Oracle Enterprise Edition 11.2.0.1.0 and as client diver 11.2.0.2.0.
    Executing the query select /*+ result_cache*/ * from p_item via sql plus or toad will generate an nice execution plan with an RESULT CACHE node and the v$result_cache_objects contains some rows.
    After I've check the server side cache works. I want to cache the client side
    My simple Java Application looks like
    private static final String ID = UUID.randomUUID().toString();
    private static final String JDBC_URL = "jdbc:oracle:oci:@server:1521:ORCL";
    private static final String USER = "user";
    private static final String PASSWORD = "password";
    public static void main(String[] args) throws SQLException {
    OracleDataSource ds = new OracleDataSource();
    ds.setImplicitCachingEnabled(true);
    ds.setURL( JDBC_URL );
    ds.setUser( USER );
    ds.setPassword( PASSWORD );
    String sql = "select /*+ result_cache */ /* " + ID + " */ * from p_item d " +
    "where d.i_size = :1";
    for( int i=0; i<100; i++ ) {
    OracleConnection connection = (OracleConnection) ds.getConnection();
    connection.setImplicitCachingEnabled(true);
    connection.setStatementCacheSize(10);
    OraclePreparedStatement stmt = (OraclePreparedStatement) connection.prepareStatement( sql );
    stmt.setLong( 1, 176 );
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery();
    int count = 0;
    for(; rs.next(); count++ );
    rs.close();
    stmt.close();
    System.out.println( "Execution: " + getExecutions(connection) + " Fetched: " + count );
    connection.close();
    private static int getExecutions( Connection connection ) throws SQLException {
    String sql = "select executions from v$sqlarea where sql_text like ?";
    PreparedStatement stmt = connection.prepareStatement(sql);
    stmt.setString(1, "%" + ID + "%" );
    ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery();
    if( rs.next() == false )
    return 0;
    int result = rs.getInt(1);
    if( rs.next() )
    throw new IllegalArgumentException("not unique");
    rs.close();
    stmt.close();
    return result;
    100 times the same query is executed and the statement exection count is incemented every time. I expect just 1 statement execution ( client database roundtrip ) and 99 hits in client result set cache. The view CLIENT_RESULT_CACHE_STATS$ is empty :-(
    I'm using the oracle documentation at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14072_01/java.112/e10589/instclnt.htm#BABEDHFF and I don't kown why it does't work :-(
    I'm thankful for every tip,
    André Kullmann

    I wanted to post a follow-up to (hopefully) clear up a point of potential confusion. That is, with the OCI Client Result Cache, the results are indeed cached on the client in memory managed by OCI.
    As I mentioned in my previous reply, I am not a JDBC (or Java) expert so there is likely a great deal of improvement that can be made to my little test program. However, it is not intended to be exemplary, didactic code - rather, it's hopefully just enough to illustrate that the caching happens on the client (when things are configured correctly, etc).
    My environment for this exercise is Windows 7 64-bit, Java SE 1.6.0_27 32-bit, Oracle Instant Client 11.2.0.2 32-bit, and Oracle Database 11.2.0.2 64-bit.
    Apologies if this is a messy post, but I wanted to make it as close to copy/paste/verify as possible.
    Here's the test code I used:
    import java.sql.ResultSet;
    import java.sql.PreparedStatement;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource;
    import oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection;
    class OCIResultCache
      public static void main(String args []) throws SQLException
        OracleDataSource ods = null;
        OracleConnection conn = null;
        PreparedStatement stmt = null;
        ResultSet rset = null;
        String sql1 = "select /*+ no_result_cache */ first_name, last_name " +
                      "from hr.employees";
        String sql2 = "select /*+ result_cache */ first_name, last_name " +
                      "from hr.employees";
        int fetchSize = 128;
        long start, end;
        try
          ods = new OracleDataSource();
          ods.setURL("jdbc:oracle:oci:@liverpool:1521:V112");
          ods.setUser("orademo");
          ods.setPassword("orademo");
          conn = (OracleConnection) ods.getConnection();
          conn.setImplicitCachingEnabled(true);
          conn.setStatementCacheSize(20);
          stmt = conn.prepareStatement(sql1);
          stmt.setFetchSize(fetchSize);
          start = System.currentTimeMillis();
          for (int i=0; i < 10000; i++)
            rset = stmt.executeQuery();
            while (rset.next())
            if (rset != null) rset.close();
          end = System.currentTimeMillis();
          if (stmt != null) stmt.close();
          System.out.println();
          System.out.println("Execution time [sql1] = " + (end-start) + " ms.");
          stmt = conn.prepareStatement(sql2);
          stmt.setFetchSize(fetchSize);
          start = System.currentTimeMillis();
          for (int i=0; i < 10000; i++)
            rset = stmt.executeQuery();
            while (rset.next())
            if (rset != null) rset.close();
          end = System.currentTimeMillis();
          if (stmt != null) stmt.close();
          System.out.println();
          System.out.println("Execution time [sql2] = " + (end-start) + " ms.");
          System.out.println();
          System.out.print("Enter to continue...");
          System.console().readLine();
        finally
          if (rset != null) rset.close();
          if (stmt != null) stmt.close();
          if (conn != null) conn.close();
    }In order to show that the results are cached on the client and thus server round-trips are avoided, I generated a 10046 level 12 trace from the database for this session. This was done using the following database logon trigger:
    create or replace trigger logon_trigger
    after logon on database
    begin
      if (user = 'ORADEMO') then
        execute immediate
        'alter session set events ''10046 trace name context forever, level 12''';
      end if;
    end;
    /With that in place I then did some environmental setup and executed the test:
    C:\Projects\Test\Java\OCIResultCache>set ORACLE_HOME=C:\Oracle\instantclient_11_2
    C:\Projects\Test\Java\OCIResultCache>set CLASSPATH=.;%ORACLE_HOME%\ojdbc6.jar
    C:\Projects\Test\Java\OCIResultCache>set PATH=%ORACLE_HOME%\;%PATH%
    C:\Projects\Test\Java\OCIResultCache>java OCIResultCache
    Execution time [sql1] = 1654 ms.
    Execution time [sql2] = 686 ms.
    Enter to continue...This is all on my laptop, so results are not stellar in terms of performance; however, you can see that the portion of the test that uses the OCI client result cache did execute in approximately half of the time as the non-cached portion.
    But, the more compelling data is in the resulting trace file which I ran through the tkprof utility to make it nicely formatted and summarized:

  • Open Search Results in client application

    Hi,
    I try to use the following post
    http://richardstk.com/2013/10/25/open-sharepoint-2013-search-results-in-the-client-application/
    in order to open search results in client application.
    1. Can someone help where should i add the statement ctx.ScriptApplicationManager.states.openDocumentsInClient = "true"; ?
    (I did but no effect on how result  open)
    2. Will it work also on files which are not Office Docs?
    keren tsur

    Hi keren tsur,
    You have to add the code mentioned in the article inside your search display template
    "Item_CommonItem_Body.html"
    which will be located in your share point web application at
    "Site settings --> Master pages and page layouts.
    In the Master Page Gallery, click Display Templates --> Search".
    Once you edit and save the "Item_CommonItem_Body.html" file, upload it back to search display
    templates gallery at the above location  then publish the file,then it will update the corresponding JavaScript file.
    Yes it will open all your office docs in client application once you update your display template as explained in the article.

  • 'People Search Core Result' web part with 'office' filter in Keyword Query is not returning results

    I have created a page with "People search core result" web part on SharePoint 2010.

    You might want to check the Manage User Properties area of the User Profile Service in Central Admin.
    Any properties you query on should be marked "Indexed" or "Use in Scopes".  You can also check that you are using the correct internal name for these properties.

    I am creating a wiki site in which the home page has a search box web part, and a results web part.  I have the search box configured to return the results to the results web part.  I created a result source and changed the query on the results
    web part to use this results source.  I am getting results from the library I am trying to, but...
    1) The results web part is showing results when the page is loaded before any query is typed into the search bar.  Why is this and can it be configured to just be blank until a query is entered into the search bar?
    2) Is it possible to have 1 search box and 1 results part have 2 different scope choices?  ie, 1 scope for the wiki library and 1 for a document library?
    Thank you.

    So I have to have 2 different search result web parts to have 2 different scopes if I wish to have the search and results occur on the same page? Would I also have to have 2 search boxes?
    Also, I am trying to figure out this issue where results are being returned without anything being entered in the search box.  I have {searchterms?} in my query, and documentation suggests this to be the way to handle this issue, but I continue to get
    results shown in the results web part without even entering a search query.  Please assist.

  • Is it possible to submit a list item and at same time query/search the results if parameters are matched.

    Hello,
    Is it possible to submit a list item and at same time query/search the results if parameters are matched.
    Example - user logon to site enter search parameters and hit submit button. Once done parameters gets saved in list and shows search results on page. I have been asked to do this with
    SP designer and InfoPath doesn’t work due items limits.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Manish

    Hi Manish,
    may i ask if you need,
    when user account click the login button, it will be authenticate the user and then it will show search result page?
    may i know how the keyword of words to be put? is it together with the user account box, password and keyword?
    or it will be like, after user authenticate, it will redirect to search page, so that user may use the search page to input the keyword?

  • Search criterias in one page, the query results in another page?

    Hi, can I put search criterias in one page, and get query results in another page?
    Need help
    Thanks in advance
    karman

    If you meant a situation like: Page 1 has some items and page 2 has a report which refers page 1 itemsThen your report _query would fetch proper results provided the page 1 item values are available in the session_.
    That is, after submitting their values(using page submit,dynamic action,ajax etx) to session state , their values would be available in any page (anywhere in that session ) , until the page cache for the item page(page 1) is cleared.

  • Optimize query results(timing) returned from custom search query

    Casey can you send the following to Oracle Support as soon as you can, we need their input on optimizing returning search results.
    To Oracle:
    We have noticed in the IdocScript reference guide that there is a way to optimize the query results returning to the user.
    Here is the scenario: We have created a custom web query where we send a query to the UCM and return a result using a custom template via url like so
    http://dnrucm.dnr.state.la.us/ucm/idcplg?IdcService=GET_SEARCH_RESULTS&QueryText=dDocTitle <matches> `AGREEMENT` <AND> xStateLeaseNum<matches>`00340`&ResultCount=30&SortOrder=Desc&SortField=dInDate&urlTemplate=/ucm/groups/public/documents/oos/hcst-search.hcst
    This works fine. The problem is that when a query is broader like
    http://dnrucm.dnr.state.la.us/ucm/idcplg?IdcService=GET_SEARCH_RESULTS&QueryText= xStateLeaseNum<matches>`00340`&ResultCount=30&SortOrder=Desc&SortField=dInDate&urlTemplate=/ucm/groups/public/documents/oos/hcst-search.hcst
    The query takes an extremely long time to execute and the results template sometimes never comes back, which seems like a timeout.
    Is there something else that we can do to optimize the query results?

    Hi John,
    What version of xMII are you using?
    Some things I would try:
    1. Clear the Java Web Start Cache - see if that makes any difference.
    2. If not, what happens if you save the query under a different name, and then try using it in a new transaction?
    3. Please feel free to enter you case into xMII Support via the SAP Support Portal if you are unable to make this work.
    Kind Regards,
