"Search Result Types" Error on page view

When visiting "Search Result Types"
under Site Collection Administration on a few of my site collections I get an error. This only happens on some of the site collections and I can't pin down why its occurring. I've tried disabling "SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure" and
deleting the Relationship list then turning the infrastructure feature back on with not luck.

SharePoint 2013 custom search Result Type for "Documents" not showing up as option

I'm trying to create a custom search Result Type called "Documents" that will filter to MS Office filetypes and PDF's.
However, when I perform a search, although many of these types of files show up in the results, I don't have "Documents" as a Result Type option.
Here are the steps I'm following:
From my Enterprise Search Center subsite: Site Settings > Manage Result Types.
New Result Type.
Name: Documents
Source: Documents (System) - this out-of-the-box Result Source appears to cover the filetypes I need.
Types of content: I've tried leaving it blank (to match all content) and specifically picking the types I want.
What should these results look like? Office Document Item.
Check Optimize for frequent use.
Save.
I then go back to my search center and search for a common keyword. Many in-scope file show up in the search results. However, under Result Type, I don't see "Documents," even if I click "SHOW MORE."

@Mikael As you say, to display the exact results when we click a result source, we should implement logic code to check whether item should be displayed. I have followed steps nearly the same as the topic owner but I saw nothing different between Everything
and my custom Result Type.
Here are the steps I'm following:
Create a custom result type, named Job, and specify a custom display template for it.
Set its condition to filter list items that have JobName site column ( JobName is site column's managed property) equal of any "IT" or "Doctor".
I search for "Perter", it returns 5 items with Everything. I expect that it should return 3 items since only those items contain JobName site column.
Search is fun but rather headache sometimes, give me advise please :)

I want to create the new Search Result types based on existing "List SharePoint Item" result type. I know how to do it manually . But i want it to automate it. can i do it using powershell script? is there anything available or somebody tried anything
in this direction?

Pdf files in search results - open the properties paga instead the file

We have 2010 search results page for searching files. When the search result is a pdf - the icon shown is not pdf icon and when click the file name it opens the properties page instead the file itself. What should be set? thanks a lot

It looks like you didn't register PDF file type in your search service application.
Go to Central Administration->Manage Service Application. Click on the name of your search service application and check file types (link in the left column)

How can I show shipping costs in my search results? Where is "Customize view" link?

Stop Firefox from reverting back to Google Search Results when opening a page from results list

When I click on one of the results from a Google search, I have it open the page in a new window. The page opens in the new window just fine, but instead of letting me view the page in the new window, Firefox takes me back to the Google Search results page. I am able to click on the new window and view the page that I chose, but it gets old being sent back to the search results each time I click on one of them and attempt to view it.
This happens on my work PC, home laptop, and my desktop at home as well. I have different versions running on each machine, and home laptop has the latest version of Firefox. I have searched the web and cannot find anyone having this same problem, much less a resolution, so I will ask here.
I hope this makes sense, if more info is needed please let me know.

One reason for this can be if the new window contains Flash media, but Flash hasn't been used for several minutes, the Adobe protected mode feature changes the order of the windows. This is a bug that Adobe has yet to fix. If you rule out the Flash issue, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).

How to separate search results onto different jsp pages?

I'm using struts framework and I'm a newbie to this technology as well as JSP.
Let's say, this is an online shop portal and a user has decided to search by category for the products he wants. After submitting the search string, the servlet will return a collection of product value objects to the searchResult.jsp.
Since this collection may contain alot of products, I will have to allow the user to choose to view the search results by 5, 10, 20 products etc. Now, how do i divide the collection? Do i have to code this function in the action servlet or at the jsp pages? And how do i code them?

I had a similar problem which I resolved by:
1) load results into a ArrayList
2) Have a ValueListHandler with getNextElements(int) & getPreviousElements(int) - see J2EE patterns book for code egs

Hi,
I'm using struts framework and I'm a newbie to this
s technology as well as JSP.
Let's say, this is an online shop portal and a user
r has decided to search by category for the products
he wants. After submitting the search string, the
servlet will return a collection of product value
objects to the searchResult.jsp.
Since this collection may contain alot of products, I
will have to allow the user to choose to view the
search results by 5, 10, 20 products etc. Now, how do
i divide the collection? Do i have to code this
function in the action servlet or at the jsp pages?
And how do i code them?

Display search results on the same page

I have a text box with a submit button to the left. Once the user enter the a number in the search field my select query executes.
My question is how can i display the reult on the same page? I have been able to display results on the same page but my table headers are also displayed at the same time while user is trying to enter the item number.
i tried using <c:if> but its not wokring, Any help?

Add hyperlink on the field txt in Search Result List to access Detail View

Hi, SDN fellows.
I have a PCUI requirement stated the following:
1) In the line item of the Search Result List (table), there is one hyperlink in field 1.
2) When click on the hyperlink, it will trigger the action to open up Detail View (Object Data Pattern 1 - ODP1) of the line item.
3) Problem: When the value of the field is null, there will be no hyperlink to open up the Detail View.
4) For work around, my requirement is to make the other fields (i.e. field 2) to have a hyperlink to trigger the action for opening the Detail View of the line item.
I am not strong in PCUI. Please advise how to do so, while I am exploring the guide in the PCUI Book.

Hello Kent,
check out the settings of the Field Group element where the link is already active. Copy that settings to the Field which you want to be linked too.

OA Query Region shows previous search results when moving between pages

Hello All,
I have a custom OA Page which has a query region based on a LOV for searching device names. The problem I am facing is once device name is searched and I go to another page through the quick links and come back to same Search Device page, it shows the previous searched results. I am not retaining AM for any page navigation.
Things I have already tried :
1 . I have tried refreshing VO by using clearcache and reset methods on VO.
2. Get the Go button from the query region in ProcessFormRequest and on Go button click I use forwardImmediatelyToCurrentPage. And in Process Request method I am querying the results manually when Go button is clicked. Otherwise I am manually making the where clause condition 1=2 and ensuring that the VO does not return any rows.
But still I am not able to get rid of the issue.
The code used is pasted below for your reference. It is urgent. Can you please provide any pointers.

Hi Anand,
The getSearchResult method also does the same thing. I have also tried to remove the dependency on getSearchResult and wrote the same code in ProcessRequest() but still it does not solve the problem.
In fact, I have ensured that the VO does not contain any records and have checked these by using SOPs and debug in JDEV. The interesting point is the VO does not have any records but still the previous search data and search criteria is shown when we navigate to the page. Printed the query just before performing execute query and that query does not return any records. Also tried printing something if there are any records in the VO by using vo.hasNext().
Data gets stored somewhere and it is shown when the page is navigated from other page. FYI, this page is accessed from quick links and there are other pages also in the quick links and when we navigate between these pages we get to see the previous search results. Tried methods clearCache(), reset() on VOs but still unsuccessful.
Not even that I thought that the VO may be corrupted in some sense so I created a new VO instance in the AM and then used newly created VO instance in the query region. But still no luck.
Any pointers will be appreciated.

Google Search Result showing noindex/nofollow pages

I am having an issue regarding some of the pages on my website, Google search is showing pages which has noindex/nofollow attributes in the search result.
All of these pages listed below has noindex and nofollow meta tags on it.

They are only suggestions, Google can ignore them.
If you have them linked many times on your site then Google considers these high levels of interest. These will likely be in your sitemap as well. You need to hide them from search engines by ticking the option on the page and further actions like robots.txt if you want to take it further.

Search results are blank white pages?

Ever since the last upgrade Firefox/3.6.10 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729) I am having constant trouble with blank white search results. Also, pages load and are white and blank and it shoes the staus as done. I am ready to jump ship. Any fixes? Thanks

Check the image exceptions: Tools > Options > Content: Load Images: Exceptions - See [[Options window - Content panel]]
A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (<i>Site Identification</i> icon) on the left side of the location bar.
A click on the "More Information" button will open the Security tab of the "Page Info" window (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
Open the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Page Info" window.
Select the first image and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow key.
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

Is there a keyboard shortcut to open first google search result in a new page?

I would like to go to the first result of a google search easily, as I do in Chorme. In Chrome you can click TAB to hi-light the first result's link, then with a click open it. In Firefox, I can't do this, because if I click on TAB it will require me a lots of clicks to reach the first results.
I am using the apostrophe and the keyboard to search within the links of the page.
My goal is to open the first link without moving my hands from the keyboard.

You can use the up and down arrow keys to move between results, and open a result by pressing the Enter key.
It doesn't seem to work on page 2 of the results for the search for some reason. ''However, if I press the Tab key once on that page, then the blue triangle appears and I can use the up and down arrow keys. This inconsistency is strange...''
Some users have reported that logging into your Google account disables this feature, but I haven't noticed that myself.

Read_Network resulting Java Error " Table or view does not exists"
