Searching of programs/includes/tables based on string
Hi Experts,
I have a requirement, is there any program or transaction code to search programs/includes/tables based on the fields
(Eg. company code, sales organization, country, currency) in the selection screen or any other method.
Please suggest, if any solution.

Hi,
You will not find a program for this requirement & that too based on a field.
I would suggest if you have the package then SE80 will be the best transaction which will give you all the objects like Tables/programs/FM/Enhancement that come under a package.
Also if you do a whereused list on fields like Company code, Sales organization, Country, you will end up getting a massive list of objects where it is used.

You mean, you are trying to search text in a PDF file, and you can do it in Reader 9 but not in later versions of Reader (using the same file)?

How can I dynamically alter search spec for results set based on parameter
We have defined a string parameter in BIP as p_lastName.
We pass this to our RTF template in $p_lastName, definition in RTF as per below:

We want to include this data in a table based on our dataset but applying the parameter as a search criteria - in the form of
<?for-each:/DATA/XML/DATA_FEED/row[LAST_NAME= $p_lastName]?>
Our issue arises if user does not enter any value in the $p_lastName. In this way the comparison becomes = '%' which will not return any records.
If there is a LIKE operator in XSL we could use that.

Problem with parameters and non table based items
Hi,
I have a situation where I have some not table based items on a page (shuttles and select lists). It is parameters that the end user inputs. I have another page with the same items just here they are Display Only and also not table based. When the user press a button I branch from page 1 to page 2 and set the items on page 2. My problem is that the input the user keys in are not copied to the items on page 2. I can see the data in the session state.
I assume that this is a silly question and I have just set Source Used or Source Type wrong one one of the items but I can not get it working. Can anybody help?
It works fine if I use a Application Item and creates a process on page 1 where I copy the item value from the session state but that should be needed right?

I think I got it working. If I remove all the colons from the data it works. I select several entries in a Shuttle and the result is a colon delimited string of values. If I remove these in a process it works fine. Is there a way of escaping the output from a Shuttle?

However If you are building a production system that is important to your orgnanization as the product manager I strongly recommend that you either upgrade to a least 9.2.0.3.0 or discontinue using XML DB technology completely
There are probably somewhere in the order of 500 serious XML DB related bugs fixed between 9.2.0.1.0 and 9.2.0.7.0, all of which have been regarded as serious enough to impossible for a customer to develop or deploy a production system. None of these will EVER be fixed or available as patches for 9.2.0.1.0.
The way in which we store the data on the disc is different in 9.2.0.3.0, and while in theory we migrate the on disc format when you upgrade in practice I know that is has never been tested with any significant amount of data present.
Also you really want to take the support situation into account. Image this, it's 3:00am in the morning and your production system fails due one of the bugs that have been fixed in a later release of the product. You cannot find a workaround and you call oracle support for help. They WILL say, sorry there is nothing we can do until you upgrade to 9.2.0.3.0. Now you have to upgrade in hurry and then re-test everything you have done before you can even start working on a fix.
From a business perspective staying on 9.2.0.1.0 and continuing to use the XML DB technology makes no sense. I hope I have made this clear. If you want I will be more than happy to discuss this issue with your development managers. -

If i select any row in the resulted table , i need to populate an another table at the bottom of the same page from another view. These two tables are related by primary key . ganeshI understand your requirement and the tutorial doesn't talk about Association between the views so that you can create a Master-Detail or in DB parlance, a Parent-Child relationship.
I will assume that we are dealing with two entities here: Department and Employees where a particular Department has many Employees and hence a Parent-Child relationship.
Firstly, you need to create an Association between the two Entities - Department and Employees. You can do that by right clicking on the model's entity and then associating the two entities with the appropriate key say, DepartmentId.
Once you have done that, you need to link the two entities in the View section with this Association that you created. Then go to AppModule and make sure that in the Available View Objects: 'EmployeesView' appears under 'DepartmentView' as "EmployeesView via <link you created>". Shuttle the 'DepartmentView' to the right, Data Model and then shuttle
"EmployeesView via <link you created>" to the right, Data Model under 'DepartmentView'.
This will then be reflected in your Data Controls. After that, you simply would have to drag this View into your page as a Master-Detail form...and then when you run this page, any row selected in the Master table, would display the data in the Detail table.

I have a JTable. The user can re-arrange columns in this table. Then the user can select a couple rows and create a new selection set table based on these rows. The problem is as follows: When the user re-arranges the columns, I cannot seem to retrieve the new order.

User rearranges to: B A C
I call code and fields are returned as: A B C

A dynamic table based on run-time created view object -- please help!

I'm trying to create a dynamic table based on an run-time created view object. All go ok, but table binding component take the first view/iterator state and don't reflect changes they have. Please, take a look:
1. At run-time the view is being replaced by new red-only one based on query in application module:

2. Page definition file contains an iterator (using iterator or methodIterator - doesn't matter) binding and table, which binds to the iterator, like:

Ilya.I got it to work! I used a hybrid approach comprised of some of your code and some of Steve Muench's AcceessAppModuleInBackingBean example.
In the setBindings method, I execute an app module method that redefines the query, then I used your code to delete and recreate bindings and iterator:

When I run it I get my desired results. One thing I don't quite understand is why when the page is first rendered it shows the last set of records rather than the first. Now I have to figure out how to put navigation URLS in each of the table cells.

Select from different tables based on value

I'm stuggling with a problem:
In a table, I have two columns, pref_type and pref_value. Column pref_type stores a number value that is linked to a preference type, whereas column pref_value stores the value of that preference.
Unfortunately, the data model is such that per preference type a different tables needs to be used, so for example, if
pref_type = 1, table to query is A, whereas if
pref_type = 2, table to query is B.
I now want to write a query that resolves the preferences, ie it should branch to the respective table based on pref_type and search for pref_value and deliver back a different column of that respective table.
My first approach was like that:
select decode (pref_value, 1, (select result from A where pref_value = ???),
2, (select result from B where pref_value = ???)
where the three ??? depict the problem I'm having, as Oracle doesn't allow me to have a harmonized subquery here.
How do I achieve this?
