Seeburger EDI conversion Vs XI Conversion Agent EDI conversion?

We have implemented Seeburger's EDI solution at a client, and our another client wants to an EDI solution for them.
I cam across this weblog, and it is very interesting. I have some questions.
1. Does Converstion Agent support the converstion of all versions of native EDI X12 and EDIFACT to the corresponding XML verions, and vice versa.
2. What are the differences between Seeburger's and XI Conversion Agent's EDI soultions?
Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

Hi Karma,
SAP Conversion Agent by Itemfield is a data conversion system that enables you to create interfaces between any data formats and XML-based systems. The Conversion Agent can convert unstructured, semi-structured, and structured formats to XML, and the other way around.
Have a look at these links:

Seeburger EDI Adapter provides an EDI solution on internet via HTTP or AS2 to replace the expensive VAN. It provides some pre-built mappings for IDOC to ANSI X12(810,850,855,856 etc.,) and Idoc to EDIFACT(ORDERS,DESADV,INVOIC etc.,) and has the ability to build your own. These pre-defined mappings transform the IDOC-XML to EDI-XML format.
These transformed EDI-XML messages are then converted to EDI specific format using the Seeburger's BIC(Business Integration Converter)adapter. In addition, Seeburger provides adapters like AS2,FTP(EDI specific) and so on to route these EDI messages to external EDI Partners.
For more i would suggest you to go through these links:

Seeburger EDI Adapter leverages SAP XI's Adapter Framework. This Adapter is used to perform conversion between EDI and XML format. It also provides some canned EDI layouts and the ability to build your own. It is used to transfer the EDI message via HTTP or AS2 protocols.
The most direct way of using the Seeburger adapters is to configure the BIC as a module. There is a software component from seeburger called bicmapper which will allow you to do the following:
1. define or import the inbound message metadefinition in various formats ( edifact, xml,...)
2. using a mapping create an xml variant as the output metadefinition or edifact in the other direction.
3. create a one to one mapping between input en output.
4. export the metadata in xsd or sda format for import in XI.
5. generate an SDA which can be deployed in XI and used as a module.
Please go through the following links which clearly explains what you want and it also helps you in understanding the same in depth:

There are also a few ways to use EDI with the ALE system of R3.
inbound EDI to R3
1.use a 3rd party adapter for the EDI protocol(eg.SEEBURDER) from the EDI system, send the produced XML to the XI ,map the xml message to a matching IDoc using the IDoc adapter.
outbound ALE message from R3 to EDI system
1. Configure the ALE system to point to the XI the relevant IDoc (SM59,WE21,WE20...)
2.use a file adapter3rd party EDI adapter and map the fields to the target structure.
have a look at this example:

Details on how to configure can be found on SDN
I hope this helps....

  • Conversion Agent - EDI Parser Problem

    Hi Experts,
We are writing a parser for EDI message type 850.
When we are giving Repeating Group and Marker "ST", it is taking more fields also, having this value "ST",  which are in other Segments other then ST.
and reading that ST fields as a segment,
the output data is not correct due to this problem,
    Please help,

    Hi VJ,
    thanks for your reply,
We are writing this Parser at Conversion Agent for EDI 850 & 856, X12 Version 4030.
The example file for the problem is here :
    ST/856/00001~
    BSN/00/013721/20070806/1808/0001~
    HL/1//S~

    PER/IC/dan/EM/[email protected]~
    DTM/011/20070806/1807~
    N1/ST//92/93922~
ST is a segment, when we are going to give this as Marker in Repeating Group, it is picking ST of N1 Segment also.
'/' is seperator for fields and '~' is seperator for lines.

  • In EDI to IDOC or Idoc to EDI can we go for Dynamic recevier determination

    Hi all
I am doing an EDI to IDOC scenario involving SEEBURGER( AS2) adapter .can we go for extended receiver determination
    Regars
    Saurabh

    Saurabh,
You can not use Extended Receiver Determination coz AS2 connection is like point-to-point connection which requires AS2 id of both sender and receiver. Therefore you can not use the Extended receiver determination.

  • ALE/EDI - Process of Inbound Freight Invoice EDI Document 210

Good day all and a Happy New Year!  We want to receive Freight Invoices from UPS and other carrier vendors into SAP, to track actual shipment charges.  My question is, which Idoc/message type, should I use in order to map to the EDI document number 210, which is a Freight Invoice we will be receiving and posting into SAP?  Thank you for your support.

    Hi,
we can't send the PO number with the shipment notification. At that point of time, the PO doesn't exist.
The PO is created with another INVOIC01 IDOC, which automatically creates a shipment cost document (SCD). Only then, the PO is created according to the SCD.
In the meantime, I found something myself.
    1. The option to use the "Transportation Agent" is not available in standard SAP for EDI receipts. (Confirmed by SAP).
    2. Instead, we are now using the "delivery note" number from the service entry sheet. In our case, the delivery note has the same number as the shipment.
To use that, you need to have:
E1EDK02 and E1EDP02 with qualifier 016 and then the delivery note number with leading zeros (10 digits) and the item position on item level.
Partner SP is required on item level.
When we check the document, it now determines the service PO automatically in MIRO.
We now have to solve a tax problem, but the core function is working..
    Regards,
    Tanja

  • How to fill conversion table TAUUM in BW for conversion of Sales Order Type

When importing sales order data from SAP ECC to SAP BI, conversion routine AUART can be used to convert Sales order Type from its internal representation to an external representation.  (For example, the standard sales order has an internal Sales Document Type code TA, and an external code OR).
The standards SAP conversion routine AUART uses table TAUUM as a lookup table.  This table has lots of data in SAP ECC, but it is empty in SAP BW.
How can we copy data from table TAUUM in ECC to  table TAUUM in BW?
Do we have to create a maintenance view on the table, and type in the entries? Or is there a more automated way?

    Hi Jay,
Make sure the extract structure is active. You can check the same from LBWE > 11: SD Sales BW> MC11VA0STI is active.
If the extract structure is active. Inorder to fill the setup table. First delete the setup table for the application area 11 from SBIW transaction. Then fill the set-up table for the application area 11 as you did for deliveries.
Then check whether data source is pulling data.
Let me know if there is an issue even after following the above steps.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Namrata

  • Forwarding XML/EDI from SAP Business connector to EDI (cloverleaf)

    Hello,
We are having issues setting SAP up to work with the business connector and our EDI system - cloverleaf.
For testing, we would like to:
    1.  Create an idoc in SAP and send it to the Busness Connector.
    2.  Have the busness connector send the doc via XML to our EDI system cloverleaf.
Currently, I have things setup like so:
    SAP/ECC6:
SM59: RFC setup as type T and works fine.
    WE20: Partner Type LS:
I have 2 message types setup (in outboard: I have "orders" and in Inbound I have the same).
in WE21: I have a cloverleaf (our EDI system) to run with the RFC destination I setup in SM59.
On the Business connector, I have the following under routing rules:
From SAP to the Business connector:
    Sender: 8805
    Reciver: 10000000008
    Message Type: Orders
    ACL Group: none
    Package: default
    Main Flow Services: wm.PartnerMgr.flows.88605.1000000008:ORDERS
    Transport: ALE (R3/IDOC)
    SAP destination: RD1 (our sid).
FOR my outgoing to our EDI system cloverleaf:
I am using the sender: * - Not sure if this should be SAP or the BC.
Reciver:  *  - Our EDI system.  our EDI system is listening on port 49001.
    Message Type: Orders
Under URL (not sure about this one)
    I have  http://reg2lxap0725:5555/MessagingSystem/receive/BcAdapter/BC
I am however stummped on how the URL shold look..
Now, when we test the above config...  I recive the following results in WE02.
    0000000000003024  25     03 Green Light: IDoc Successful Green     LS/  /SAPBC     ORDERS05     ORDERS     Outbox     CLOVERLEAF
For some reason, we also have an "inbound" that fails.
    0000000000003025  25     56 Red Light: IDoc Has Errors           KU/  /0000088605 ORDERS05 ORDERS Inbox     SAPRD1
My main question is however around routing...
We are trying to send these to our EDI system which is listening on 49001.
I am not sure how they want us to setup the routing rules to pass this over to the right port..
I have also  searched the documentation, and have not found any real step by step guides, so I may be missing a few things..
Any advice to point me to the right direction is greatly appriciated....
    Thanks  everyone,
    Richard

    Hello Prateek,
Thank you very much for your answer. The AdapterGuide was really helpfull.
Now the routing rule is associated to the correct Service (that was a the problem). So the rule started to process the XML files from the folder (the XML files disappeared immediately after I corrected the rule).
But now my problem is that on the SAP side there is no inbound IDOCs so it seems the trasmission may failed.
Moreover under "Routing"-->"Transactions" I don't see these entries with the the current date.
Our routing rule is simple: "wildcard" "wildcard" "wildcard" "ALE (R/3 IDOC)"--><OUR SAP SYSTEM>
The SAP connection is working as I can test under "SAP..." menu.
Is there any other way to monitor what had happened with these XML files? I'm sure the BC processed as the files are gone, but there is no IDOC in the destination SAP...
    Thanks a lot!

  • Generating EDI from a non-SAP, non-EDI-savvy database to go INTO a SAP sys?

    I am a FileMaker geek.
I have been asked about developing EDI transaction modalities from within a FileMaker Pro database for facilitating data exchange between the FileMaker db and a SAP environment owned & maintained by the same company.
It seems like an odd request (these days, most exchange to/from FileMaker and other in-house systems is done "live", writing directly to the rows & columns of the various non-FileMaker tables using standard ODBC drivers;... but ignoring that, I've looked at what EDI is, and does, and I gather that the following are true?:
u2022 System A's data structure is "flattened" down and then that data is arrayed as a "document" such as an invoice or a purchase order, etc etc....
u2022 EDI is a venerable and well-established system allowing that resulting "document" to be conveyed, usually to a different company such as a trade partner, (in this case NOT, it will all be internal), which can then, in some fashion, import the data from the "document" into its own very different table structure in what we'll call System B.
u2022 EDI in some fashion creates a standard, and that standard replaces the need for the folks using System A and the folks using System B to do a lot of cumbersome comparison of "what table and what column in your system represents the unique identifier for invoice and which column is invoice number" etc etc, -- by having both folks "speak EDI" the need to map out those matchups is eliminated.
Please correct me if I'm on the wrong track up until that point, thanks.  Now, assuming I am NOT wrong, my main questions:
u2022 File format!  Is the EDI "document" a plain text file that can be assembled and exported from a system that is itself oblivious to EDI, by a developer who is given the schema of how that text document has to "look" to System B?  Or is it binary and/or of sufficient complexity that no one DOES that, that instead some sort of driver or program is generally acquired or purchased that encodes data (say for example tab-delimited ASCII text) into EDI format?
u2022 Schema?  I know how to flatten relevant information and export it out of FileMaker, but for most such requests I would be given a sample document, e.g., "data that goes into QuickBooks has to be in XML format with the relevant XML headers & data in the following order..." or "data that goes into our MAS 90 should be in tab delimited text with the following column order and without column name as top row..." or "data that is to go into our SAS system should be a plain text file with each column a precise char length padded with the standard space char as need be, in the following order..." etc etc.  Would I be given a similar schema and then just export out of FileMaker and assume that they will convert it (if need be) to EDI format from that, or is the art of spitting out data as an EDI "document" a very different sort of task?
u2022 Is there a good reason that my initial gut reaction is necessarily WRONG, i.e., that since Company X owns both System A (FileMaker) and System B (their SAP system) and presumably have the hi-level passwords for full access to both, it would make more sense to write directly to the appropriate corresponding tables rows & columns instead of using EDI?  If so can you give me a sense of why they would want to use EDI for this?
with sincere gratitude, thanks in advance.
Edited by: Allan Hunter on Feb 3, 2009 2:25 PM elaborated on thread title

Thank you, <b>Amit Kulkani</b>, for your replies.  I'm afraid neither answer is really an answer to my questions.  May I elaborate?
    a) In the first reply post, you write: " if we did not use EDI there might be many mannual error take place in operation.  So In short only the security point of view EDI works better."
Assuming your target (SAP) tables have rules per each column and per each row, a direct SQL statement should not allow inappropriate information to be entered.  I can accept that perhaps SAP was written without such safeguards, if that is what you are telling me, but in that case any direct data entry process is going to be vulnerable to data entry error.  Or do you mean that no data entry <i>whatsoever</i>, at any point, at any time, occurs other than via EDI?
    b) In the second reply post, you cite these advantages.  Advantages over hand-writing the data on the back of a paper napkin and mailing it in a manila envelope for someone to retype into the system, yes, but how are any of these improved by using EDI instead of a direct connection from FileMaker?:
    u2022 Reduced postage costs  <i>Huh?</i>
    u2022 Reduced expenses <i>what expenses?</i>
u2022 Speed <i>I would think directly writing to the data would be considerably FASTER than exporting to EDI and then importing from EDI into SAP</i>
u2022 Elimination of paper documents <i>Who said anything about paper documents?</i>
u2022 Elimination of labor intensive tasks, such as data entry <i>Yes, what I propose would eliminate that also</i>
    u2022 Greater accuracy of information <i>See above</i>
Can you re-read my original post and give the same thoughtful consideration, but this time comparing EDI to what I am proposing (direct connection to the SAP tables), <i>not</i> comparing it to sending the data in on a piece of paper to be retyped manually when it arrives?
Thanks in advance, and thanks again for your answers so far.

  • EDI order on quota block before EDI block

    Hi,
Order xxxx is received via EDI. Checking the order in VA14L shows that the order is on quota block where it is expected to be on EDI block first. Checking the change log of the order shows there was no release of the order from EDI block.
Please investigate why this order was not on EDI block initially.

    hi rohit,
Correct me if i am wrong...
ur requirement is not to trigger the IDOC message for changes in the PO for certain vendor ?
if it is so then,to my knowladge it is not avallable in stadard as we can conrol the same by condition record.
u can apply the logic in such a way the if there is no condition record available for message triggering for change of PO then loop should be ending.thet means no generation of IDOC or error message.
    regards,

Do you have any idea ?

  • My text message in a continuing conversation does not show up in conversation. why

When texting within an existing conversation, the text message coming in no longer shows up in the conversation but in the "message heading" area. Why

Is it that app : Photo Enhancer ? If it is then I can't see anything on its description page in the store about hiding pictures.
I'm assuming that the blog doesn't exist anymore, or that the owner of it has restricted access to it (or maybe google has changed the default permissions and the blogger hasn't corrected them) - the developer of an app won't know that you'd bought the app, so you wouldn't automatically get access to that blog page.

  • EDI 865,order change acknowlegment via edi

    HI Guru's.
I hope you will help me with your expertise, i have a requirement with my client to have an EDI 865(outbound) message without having an 860 (inbound). Eg, customer will not sent an 860 message, and requesting an 865 , when  ever there is a change in the sales order for some fields, we need to send an 865 EDI message.
    My Questions:
    1) which IDOC message type should i use for this transaction, to send an 865 ?
2)What program and Form routine should i use to send an 865 , while configuring the output type in V/30 ?
    3) Please advice me the SAP setting we need to do for an 865 (order change Ack) .
    Your input is highly appreciated,

    Hi,
I think Order05 should work for you. Let me try to answer your questions
    1) which IDOC message type should i use for this transaction, to send an 865 ?
A: ORDERS. Basic type should be ORDERS05
    2) What program and Form routine should i use to send an 865 , while configuring the output type in V/30 ?
A: RSNASTED. Form routine: EDI_PROCESSING which is pretty standard. You can use BA00 output type which is standard again.
    3) Please advice me the SAP setting we need to do for an 865 (order change Ack) .
A:  i. You should have the EDI settings done by your Basis team. (Else Idocs will not generate)
ii. You should create a partner profile in WE20 for KU customer, outbound.
iii. In the Outbound options mention the port and other stuff. Maintain the message control. Note that you put in BA00 there in  the message type and put the right process code (Should be SD01).
I think these are the only things. Try and this should work for you.

  • (PLEASE HELP)Can Acrobat X pro do a Batch Conversion to Word? (multiple file conversion)

I am trying to convert multiple PDF files to word using Acrobat X Pro and I am not sure if it is capable of doing this process. I have tried doing one file and it works great even on files that have colums and tables but I cant figure out how to convert alot of them at once. Do I need to buy a thrid party software to achieve this task? PLEASE HELP ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY

Use the Action Wizard (in the Tools pane) to create a new Action.
In the Edit Action dialog, on the right side, there are three panes.
Look to the third (bottom) pane (for "Save To").
At the far right of the "Save to:"  line is an icon - click it to open a configuration dialog.
The configuration dialog (Output Options) has a selection at the botto - "Export File(s) to Alternate Format".
Tick this selection and use the drop-down menu for "Export to:" to select the format.
Amoung others you have RTF, Text, Word 97-2003, and Word Document (i.e., *.docx).
Similarly, use the "Start with" configuration tool to select supported file formats for batch processing to PDF via an Action.
Tutorials and additional Acrobat X Actions are available at the Acrobat User Community.
