Select by rand()

I have connected my database from java, I am using mysql. I am able to retrieve images from database , but when I try and do it by random it gives me syntax error.
Here is the part of the java code

If I remove underlined part its working fine but when I add it its giving me an error.

What I am trying to do is that I have 8 sliders on front end part and between slider start val and endval specific images appear ,instead of that I want it to be selected randomly.

it gives me the random tables, but in java as I have mentioned in that code it gives me syntax error, I am using the exact syntax as that of this query one.

  • Getting deadlock detected while waiting for resource error for select Query.....

    Hi all,
    i am getting a below error whenever executing the below select query....
    some times it will show dead lock detected while waiting for resource and terminated...
    some times it executes and gives result..
    but all the time it writes an alert to alert log
    Plesae suggest how to resolve the issue..........

    Excellent piece of follow-up on my first suggestion.
    I nearly made a comment about how the plan doesn't show Bloom filter pruning either - and then I realised why not. The plan you've shown us comes from Explain Plan with literal values present; the trace file shows bind variables with names that are generated when cursor_sharing is set to force or similar - so the run-time plan and the plan from explain plan are almost guaranteed to be different.
    Oracle support will need you to supply the plan you get from trying to run the query and then making a call to dbms_xplan.display_cursor() - dbms_xplan in 10g | Oracle Scratchpad If you do this I think you'll find that the pstart/pstop columns contain entries like :BF0000, and you may even find operations link PX JOIN FILTER CREATE / PX JOIN FILTER USE
    A couple of generic notes:
    if a query does sufficient work to merit parallel execution, then it's usually better to supply the best possible information to the optimizer, which means using literals rather than bind variables - you could try executing the query with the hint /*+ cursor_sharing_exact */ to stop Oracle from turning your literals into binds; it might be the presence of bind variables that's making the optimizer choose a path that has to include bloom filter pruning in your case.
    Where you have the to_date() call you've used a four-digit year - which is a very good thing and helps the optimizer - but it's also a good idea to include an explicit format string as well: with a four-digit year this probably won't make any difference, but it avoids any risk of ambiguity for the optimizer.
    I made a comment about the P->S stage and bottlenecks - I spent a couple more minutes looking at the plan, and I see the optimizer has used concatentation: in effect it has run three query blocks one after the other and fed the results to the query co-ordinator - in this case the P->S would make no difference to the end-user response time there's always a final P->S to the coordinator, you just happen to have three of them.

  • Selecting random values from an array based on a condition

    Hi All,
    I have a small glitch here. hope you guys can help me out.
    I have an evenly spaced integer array as X[ ] = {1,2,3, ....150}. and I need to create a new array which selects 5 random values from X [ ] , but with a condition that these random values should have a difference of atleast 25 between them.
    for example res [ ] = {2,60,37,110,130}
    res [ ] = {10,40,109,132,75}
    I have been thinking of looping thru the X [ ], and selecting randomly but things look tricky once I sit down to write an algorithm to do it.
    Can anyone think of an approach to do this, any help will be greatly appreciated ...

  • RAND() function in OBIEE not working.

    I am not sure if any of you faced this issue on RAND() funtion in OBIEE. Please refer the below sample query.

    Select count(ROW_ID) from TABLE1 where RAND() < 0.25 ------- +250+
    select Count(ROW_ID) from (Select ROW_ID from TABLE1 except (Select ROW_ID from TABLE1 where RAND() < 0.25)) ------- +750+
    Select count(ROW_ID) from (Select count(ROW_ID) from TABLE1 except (Select count(ROW_ID) from TABLE1 where RAND() < 0.25)) where RAND() <0.5 ------- +500+ instead of 750/2 = 375.
    The last statement should return the count around 375, but it always return count around 500.
    This RAND() funtion is coming only in the logical query, i dont see its being added into the physical SQL Query generated which makes it more difficult to understand how its getting executed.
    Any help on this is much appriciated.

    first of all, I hope that my English will be understandable.
    Description:
    I must create a report for sales orders by planned deliver date. Most of info what I need are in VBAP, but there is no delivery date there, only in VBAK. I download VBAK by VDATU, result is a list with 500-3k pcs of orders. Next step shouId be I take these order numbers and "insert" them into VBAP-VBELN, but I'm not able to find out how can I do it in VBA (multiple selection, therefore I download that by ERDAT (large interval, because the orders can arrive to system more weeks before delivery date). Result is a code what is downloading VBAP ~ten minutes... It is not acceptable. I would like to choose a simplier example (where problem is the same): MARA.
    I have only 2-300 article number per list but I have to download 80k articles because I can filter only prefix and H% is not so exact filter...
    One-dimensional array is the only one solution what I tried for that but RFC call is false in that case.

  • Selecting from partition is taking too much time

    The SEARCH_MEMBE_PROVIDER_ROLLUP is partitioned with range-list partition
    ROLLUP_ID --range (about 30 partitions ) and other column with list subpartitioned (about 48)

    I could not figured it out as some partition's data is coming fast and some partition's data is not coming at all(taking 18 minutes)

    1) there are two major differences between the plans: serial vs parallel and NESTED LOOPS SEMI vs HASH JOIN SEMI
    2) NESTED LOOPS look like a bad choice here, and it also looks like the optimizer badly underestimates it's real cost. Which is a bit odd, because it knows that the outer rowsource has 2701K, i.e. the inner operation would have to be executed 2701K times. Looks like an optimizer glitch, which brings us to the point that Dan has already raised here: you shouldn't be running on an old unsupported version
    3) regarding serial vs parallel: it could be due to difference in session settings (ALTER SESSION ENABLE/DISABLE PARALLEL QUERY)
    4) the two plans have different values of the filter against rollup_id (7 vs 11), so one possible reason for different behavior is the histogram on SEARCH_MEMBE_PROVIDER_ROLLUP.rollup_id. If you can reproduce the issue on a test database, re-gather stats on this table without histograms (method_opt=>'for all columns size 1', no_invalidate=>false) and see if the problem goes away

  • Can a script randomly select an action within a specific set for use on multiple images?

    Hi there.
    I have a folder of 200+ similar images (taken in a photobooth).
    I have made 8 seperate actions within the same set that apply slightly different textures to a image. Actions are titled 1, 2, 3 ...etc.
    I am wanting a way to get all the images to have one of the actions (randomly selected) applied to them.
    I'm pretty confident that this could be achieved with scripting, but have no idea how to write one.
    If the images were sequecnially applied to action 1 then 2 then 3 and so on (repeating when back to 8) this would also be suitable.
    I am fairly new to scripting so please keep answers simple where possible,

  • How to randomly select data from excel using labview.

    A very good day to all. I am actually working on a system that will be selecting integer number from randomly generated set of number. If that wouldnt be possible, I would like the system to be able to select number from the set of numbers which have already been randomly generated from excel. kindly help me with the solution. To make myself clear, supposing I have set of numbers from 1 to 10, I want a labview setup that will be picking these numbers one after the other either with replacement or without from excel or self generated.     Most, if not all, of the languages I've run across have a rand() function that returns a random number between 0 and 1.  Getting some other range is up to the programmer.  Usual method is to multiply by the range you need and add an offset to adjust the mean.  For instance if you need a random number between 200 and 300 the formula might look like  " rand()*100+200 ".   If you need an integer, you can use the round function (which will leave it as a float with no decimal pportion) or the conversion (to int).    All of this is doable and straightforward in LabVIEW.  Have a look: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/FCCDCD678EEF3A9186256D7B008054F5

  • SELECT of OCILobLocator in Non Blocking mode

    Hi all.
    I have problem:
    I try select BLOB field into OCILobLocator* buffer in Non Blocking mode, and receive 'ORA-03106: fatal two-task communication protocol error' sometimes.
    Details:
    Application contains two threads : 1. select blob field, 2. update it.
    I tried separate update and select to different apps (and run its in one time) - problem reproduced.
    problem reproduced for OCIStmtFetch and OCIStmtFetch2.
    If disable non blocking mode - problem disappear.
    if error appear - record level error code contains 1405. Need wait few minutes for error message appearing (~1 minute in my case).
    Using of OCI_DEFAULT in OCIDefineByPos instead OCI_DYNAMIC_FETCH don't solve problem.
    I use oracle server and client library with version 10.2.0.4

    Hi all.
    I have problem:
    I try select BLOB field into OCILobLocator* buffer in Non Blocking mode, and receive 'ORA-03106: fatal two-task communication protocol error' sometimes.
    Details:
    Application contains two threads : 1. select blob field, 2. update it.
    I tried separate update and select to different apps (and run its in one time) - problem reproduced.
    problem reproduced for OCIStmtFetch and OCIStmtFetch2.
    If disable non blocking mode - problem disappear.
    if error appear - record level error code contains 1405. Need wait few minutes for error message appearing (~1 minute in my case).
    Using of OCI_DEFAULT in OCIDefineByPos instead OCI_DYNAMIC_FETCH don't solve problem.
    I use oracle server and client library with version 10.2.0.4

  • Select query on table rcv_lots_interface is always returning null

    Hi ,
    I need a help on the below issue.
    The issue is after creating PO in Oracle 11i I receive it in MSCA application.
    When we receive it at that point data gets inserted in the table " rcv_transactions_interface " and we have written a trigger on it.
    From the trigger on table " rcv_transactions_interface " we are calling a package and in the package we have select query on "rcv_lots_interface."
    But the select query is always returning null even though we are passing the correct "interface_transaction_id " and also after the "Receiving Transaction Processor" is executed i can see data in the table " RCV_LOT_TRANSACTIONS " for the same transaction.
