Selecting/highlighting a node in Flex Tree using HierarchicalCollectionView as DataProvider

Hi,
I am using GroupingCollection2 as the dataprovider for HierarchicalCollectionView. The GroupingCollection2 takes its data from an ArrayCollection. And finally I have a Tree whose dataprovider is the HierarchicalCollectionView . I want to acheive 2 things:
1) I want to programatically select/highlight a node in this tree. Using expandItem and passing the Object from the arraycollection is not working.
2) Refresh the tree if there is a change in the arrayCollection.
For the second task, I have a Java Layer that gives me the ArrayCollection (dp for GroupingCollection2) when I fire a CairngormEvent. But the problem is that every node in the tree is duplicated. I can clearly see that say there are 8 items in the array collection but still the tree shows 16 items ( Each item duplicated as the node in the tree.)
I have been trying to figure this out for many days now without any luck. Any sort of suggestion would be appreciated.

I got the refreshing of the tree part by myself. One needs to call the refresh method on the GroupingCollection2 and HierarchicalCollectionView objects when the arraycollection has just arrived from the database.
But I still havent been able to figure out how to highlight or open a tree node programatically. I am repeating that using (calling / setting) tree.expandItem() and tree.openItems is not helping me. Plz somebody help.

Issue with child items of flex tree using QTP

Hi,
We are trying to automate Flex web application using QTP10.
We are facing below issue with Flex tree when we try to automate a scenario of selecting a child item displayed in flex tree.
Issue:
On recording the step of selecting an item from Flex tree using QTP, the script displayed is .Select Index1. But when we replay it back no action is being performed.
Also on object spy we are able to navigate only till flex tree and we are not able to spy child items of flex tree.On the web page the child items are displayed as radio buttons/checkboxes.
Please provide a solution for me to this problem.

Hi,
You could perform a HTTP trace (using HTTP watch) and compare the OCI data in POST method for both users (the correct and incorrect ones).
Perhaps there is some additional/missing information being passed from catalog to SRM.

Hierachical tree - Highlight particular node's in Tree

Is there any way to bold or change the colour of particular nodes in a tree?
We know and use the node icon to distinguish between them but ideally would want to bold some to highlight areas
I can not see how to do this looking at the documentation but may be wrong.

i used setSelectionPath() . But it is highlighting the node's icon only(i.e by changing the color to lavender). I'm getting higlighted the node with setSelectionInterval(ind,ind) only. I want that higlighlighting to be with setselectionPath() . How to do?

When I do a setSelectionPath the node-text is highlighted, not the icon. Anyways, do a custom treecellrenderer like this:

How to create a report based on the selection of a node of a tree

I am new to Oracle Apex and I was trying to build a tree and also an interactive report based on the empno column of the emp table.
I have created a tree based on emp table. Now I want to display records of the employee selected in the tree.
Here is the tree query:

The approach for reloading the page and displaying the report is quite simple.
<li>You start by creating a new page item which would be used to store the selected node ID , eg. P100_SELECTED_NODE (you can make it atext item and change it hidden once everything works as expected)
<li>Modify the tree query and change the link column in the tree definition SQL query to a link to the same
for example if your page is 100 , you would make the tree node link to the same page but set the P100SELECTED_NODE with selected node's id_

How to select a particular node in a tree?-want suggestions urgent

i've to make a tree showing "c:\" folder structure of the system. Initially i'm adding the folders in c:\ only tothe tree. And i'm adding the subfolders when ever i select a particular folder. I'm opening the subfolders and inner subfolders of it and so inside like that. now i'm closing the window . i want the tree to reopen with the previously opened level when ever i again run the program. On closing i'm storing the last selected node using tree.getMaxSelectionPath() . And on reopen i'm setting it as tree.setSelectionPath(tree.getMaxSelectionPath()).
But it is not opening the entire path. it is opening uptop one level only. what to do. Needs suggestion urgently.

I am sorry, I cannot help in another way than looking at the documentation, because I have currently no JDK available here. If expandPath(...) doesn't work, you can try to get all the nodes of that path and expand them from the root node downwards, perhaps that will work.

ADF Tree: how to access root node after "Show as Top" selected on sub node

I am currently working on a project that using ADF tree and implementing some search/filter functionality. I need to find the java API calls to get the new root node information after UI user select a sub node in the tree and clicked “show as top"(so search are done only on the current tree. Can you please tell steps to implement <af:menutree> to have child menuitems like Inbox, Search inside parent like Home ? I searched on ADF sites but not much of help there.

Edit node name in flex tree

I want to edit a node in flex tree. Editable property of the
tree makes all nodes editable based on "SELECT" action . But now
based on my custom selection I want to edit a particular node. I
thought of custom item renderer and item editor but that applies to
all the nodes on "SELECT" action. Please let me know how to edit
particular nodes based on particular action.
Ex: On click of a button i want to edit the name of node
(Node is just text with folder icon).

I was trying to find an answer to the same issue. After
walking through the Tree and List class a bit I came up with this.

How can I get the previous clicked node in a Tree?

I have a JTree. If a node is selected, before the user select another, I need to make a question if he have sure about the new selection.
If the user answers not, I need to select the previous node.
I have in my class a variable, type of DefaultMutableTreeNode, that makes reference to the last node selected.
How can I turn this node selected again, if the user select "No"?

You don't want to maintain a reference to the last selected node, but to the last selected path. Nodes within a tree are addressed using a TreePath, with contains references to each node from the root, down to a specific node. Look at the JavaDocs of javax.swing.tree.TreePath for more info.
Also, JTree has getter/setter methods for the selectionPath.

Runtime error while i add a node in ALV Tree in oops

How to disable "Expand All" and "Collapse All" when no node in a tree

I have a <af:tree> inside <af:panelCollection>.
All items under viewMenu like "Expand", "Expand All Below", "Collapse All Below", "Expand All" , "Collapse All", "Scroll to First" and "Scroll to Last" are implemented by default.
When there is no node in a tree, "Expand", "Expand All Below", and "Collapse All Below" are grey out.
However, "Expand All" , "Collapse All", "Scroll to First" and "Scroll to Last" are still enabled to be clicked.
Is there any way we can diable them when no node?

When I highlight last node in the tree and all nodes are collapsed, I see "Expand All Below" enabled but "Collapse All Below" disabled. Which is expected. Expand All Below will expand all the child nodes under a node.
QA filed a bug said that "Expand All Below" should be disabled since no node below it. However, I don't find any place to control them. Can you confirm this? Or you know some way to do this?It it not a bug then. You don't have to control it and framework takes care of enabling and disabling it accordingly.

Populate flex tree control on demand using HTTPService (Flex 3)

First, I am sorry if the same post is already posted here but after spending 30 minutes or may be more I could not find the solution.
By the way I have two problems. 1.) I am new to flex which I know if my own problem and soon I will handle it.
2.) This is major problem for me. I have to populate Tree control from database and I used HTTPService to get the data from database.
I created a object of HTTPService and on load of Tree control I am calling a function which calls the HTTP URL and returns me the first level of node for my Tree.
When I click on any node a function is called again using HTTPService and result is appended to the currently selected node. The same goes until n level and it works fine. I was happy with my results. I am stuck in new problem. The problem is if the tree is already populated on my browser and I make some add/update/delete any node or child node, the flex doesn't make a call to HTTP URL and I am not getting updated data.
The mxml code is below (this code has some extra things too).

Thanks buddy for the answer.
Unfortunately the answer came after quite long time of posting the message. Anyway I was able to open a tree on demand using HttpService and due to my new requirement I changed it to RemoteObject.
I my latest change I am able to populate tree nodes on demand and also the same solution if getting update from server via JMS using Consumer object.
I kind a like this solution because it took me good amount of effort to find the right solution.
If any one is intersted the he/she can reply to the post and I can provide code here or may at some location so that it can be easily downloaded.
The solution is Flex-Grails combination.

How to not display nodes in a tree if Oracle roles are NOT used?
We don't use Oracle DB roles to grant users access to Forms from the menu. We use a template and role system of our own. Basically a few tables with templates and roles.
We want to convert our normal Forms menu to a tree menu and one of our key requirements is that when the tree is populated ONLY nodes with programs (i.e. forms) he has been granted to execute is shown.
Since we don't use Oracle Roles how to do this in a tree?
I created a function to show/hide LEAF nodes, BUT problem is that there are sub-menu nodes showing even if the leaf-nodes under it has not being displayed. My function has suppressed it.
My tree query is like this:

Would you share the source code? I guess what I need is how exactly you retreive the user credentials from the DB table and set that boolean variable.

How to get UIComponent of the selected node in af:tree with drag and drop

Are there examples showing how one could get a UIComponent using DropEvent to be used with a Popup showing as a custom "context menu" at the target node ?
Right now, with dropEvent.getDropComponent, we could only get the tree.
We like to get its selected node so that the popup shows at the node level, not at the tree level.

We like to show on our custom "context menu" using PopupHints (not using facet name contextmenu) with 3 commandMenuItems.
Since component id is needed by PopupHints to place this custom "context menu", we tried
RichTree dropTree = (RichTree)dropEvent.getDropComponent();
alignId = dropTree.getClientId(context);
// alignId = pt1:pt_region1:1:pt1:pc1:navTree
getClientId returns us the tree id and hence the context menu is placed next to tree.
We like to place the context menu next to a target node of the tree when dragging and dropping.
But we couldn't figure out how to get that node id.
In your suggestion,

RichTree dropComponent = (RichTree) dropEvent.getDropComponent();
dropCompoent.setRowKey(dropRowKey);
how do we then get the id of this node then ? What's the method ?
