SelectItems and Map String,String

Hi all -
I'm using Tomcat 6.0.14, JSF 1.2 and JSTL 1.2.
Consider the following code:
<h:selectOneListBox size="1" value="#{myBean.value}">
  <f:selectItems value="#{myBean.valueMap}"/>
</h:selectOneListBox>And consider the following Map<String,String>, which is returned by myBean.getValueMap():
Key: Value
AL: Alabama
AR: Arkansas
The result of displaying the above map with the above code is:
<select name="blahblah" size="1">
  <option value="Arkansas">AR</option>
  <option value="Alabama">AL</option>
</select>Shouldn't it display like this?
<select name="blahblah" size="1">
  <option value="AL">Alabama</option>
  <option value="AR">Arkansas</option>
</select>if not, how do I make it display like I want it?
Thanks
Tim

The javadoc for UISelectItems clearly states that the keys are used as the labels and the values for the, well, values.

if not, how do I make it display like I want it?Invert your map or create a method that will create the SelectItem objects from the map the way you want them.

    I'm using mapviewer. I create a stored procedure in oracle that uses the utl_http package to make the map request. The omserver response with an error but when i make a map request via internet explorer the server response its ok and show me the correspondent map. This is my pl/sql code it fails in this line:
    UTL_HTTP.SET_HEADER(l_http_req, 'Content-Type', 'application/x-www-form-urlencoded');

    Oh wait, no, we're not! We're back to my original reply:
    What do you want and/or expect to happen if one of the values isn't actually a String object but something else?Nothing like a bit of confusion :). They are and always will be String objects.
    So this external method, call it external1 for now returns a Map<String, Object>, I then want to pass this map to another external method external2 which takes Map <String,String> as a parameter.

  • Crawled property category option: "Map all string properties in this category to the Content managed property"

    I've been searching online, and haven't been able to find a definitive answer to this. Does anyone know what the following SharePoint 2013 Search Service Application, Crawled property category option does?
    "Map all string properties in this category to the Content managed property"
    It appears when editing a crawled property category.

    Hi Vishal,
    There is no Official documentation explaining the setting "Map all string properties in this category to the Content managed property". In my opinion,  this setting will map all crawled properties which are in current category and
    whose value is string type   to  the Content managed property.
    Thanks,

  • Cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types.

    I'm trying to copy the data from 21 tables in a SQL 2005 database to a MS Access database using SSIS. Before converting the SQL database from 2000 to 2005 we had this process set up as a DTS package that ran every month for years with no problem.  The only way I can get it to work now is to delete all of the tables from the Access DB and have SSIS create new tables each time. But when I try to create an SSIS package using the SSIS Import and Export Wizard to copy the SQL 2005 data to the same tables that SSIS itself created in Access I get the "cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types" error message. The first few columns I hit this problem on were created by SSIS as the Memo datatype in Access and when I changed them to Text in Access they started to work. The column I'm stuck on now is defined as Text in the SQL 2005 DB and in Access, but it still gives me the "cannot convert" error.

    I was getting same error while tranfering data from SQL 2005 to Excel , but using following method i was able to tranfer data. Hopefully it may also help you.
    1) Using Data Conversion transformation
       data types you need to select is DT_WSTR (unicode in terms of SQL: 2005)
    2) derived coloumn transformation
       expression you need to use is :
        (DT_WSTR, 20) (note : 20 can be replace by your character size)
    Note:
    Above teo method create replica of your esting coloumn (default name will be copy of <coloumn name>).
    while mapping data do not map actual coloumn to the destination but select the coloumn that were created by any of above data transformer (replicated coloumn).

  • How to map WSDL string to BAPI in IR

    Hi,
    create a data type for a xml that is
    inside your WSLD string
    create a java or abap mapping which will remove the
    wsld structure so you will only have xml string
    now you can map this string to bapi
    you can do it in one interface mapping
    (you just need two mappings):
    first one - remove the wsld
    second - map xml to bapi

  • Map a String[]

    Hi!
    How do I map a String[] in a CMP-EJB2.0 ? I know of two methods that doesn't seem very good in my eyes.
    1) Create an EJB that represents the String and then map a relation between the two EJB:s
    2) Use a Blob as a datatype for my String[].
    The second way isn't really an alternative since I already have data in an existing table structure and for the first one it feels quite backward to have an EJB for each String in the String[].
    Is there a way to map a "helper" table for my String[]?
    Thanks in advance
    Roland Carlsson

    Hi and thanks for your answer.
    The tables look like this:
    Master:
    id String
    // 8 more columns
    Slave:
    id String
    value String
    Master.id is primary key
    Slave.id and Slave.value is primary key together.
    Slave.id has a foreign key in Master.id
    So, can I read the data into my EJB (master) without having to create another EJB ?
    Thanks in advance

  • Differnce between null string and an empty string??

    what is the major difference between null string and an empty string??
    I wrote the following simple program and I could see some different output.
    Other than that, any other differences that we should pay attention to???
    C:\>java TestCode
    Hello
    nullHello
    public class TestCode
         public static void main(String[] s)
         {     String s1 = "";
              String s2 = null;
              System.out.println(s1 + "Hello");
              System.out.println(s2 + "Hello");
    }

    There's a big difference between the two. A null String isn't pointing to an object, but an empty String is. For example, this is perfectly fine:
    public class TestCode
        public static void main(String[] args)
            String s = "";
            System.out.println(s.length());
    } It prints out 0 for the length of the String, just as it should. But this code will give you a NullPointerException:
    public class TestCode
        public static void main(String[] args)
            String s = null;
            System.out.println(s.length());
    } Since s isn't pointing to anything, you can't call its methods.

  • [Forum FAQ] How to find and replace text strings in the shapes in Excel using Windows PowerShell

    Windows PowerShell is a powerful command tool and we can use it for management and operations. In this article we introduce the detailed steps to use Windows PowerShell to find and replace test string in the
    shapes in Excel Object.
    Since the Excel.Application
    is available for representing the entire Microsoft Excel application, we can invoke the relevant Properties and Methods to help us to
    interact with Excel document.
    The figure below is an excel file:
    Figure 1.
    You can use the PowerShell script below to list the text in the shapes and replace the text string to “text”:
    $text = “text1”,”text2”,”text3”,”text3”
    $Excel
    = New-Object -ComObject Excel.Application
    $Excel.visible = $true
    $Workbook
    = $Excel.workbooks.open("d:\shape.xlsx")
    #Open the excel file
    $Worksheet
    = $Workbook.Worksheets.Item("shapes")
    #Open the worksheet named "shapes"
    $shape = $Worksheet.Shapes
    # Get all the shapes
    $i=0
    # This number is used to replace the text in sequence as the variable “$text”
    Foreach ($sh in $shape){
    $sh.TextFrame.Characters().text
    # Get the textbox in the shape
    $sh.TextFrame.Characters().text =
    $text[$i++]
    #Change the value of the textbox in the shape one by one
    $WorkBook.Save()
    #Save workbook in excel
    $WorkBook.Close()
    #Close workbook in excel
    [void]$excel.quit()
    #Quit Excel
    Before invoking the methods and properties, we can use the cmdlet “Get-Member” to list the available methods.
    Besides, we can also find the documents about these methods and properties in MSDN:

    Hello Phil,
    The current forum is for developers and Outlook related programming questions. That's why I'd suggest hiring anybody for developing the code for you. You may find freelancers, for example. Try googling for any freelance-related web sites and asking such

  • How to read and write a string into a txt.file

    Hi, I am now using BEA Workshop for Weblogic Platform version10. I am using J2EE is my programming language. The problem I encounter is as the above title; how to read and write a string into a txt.file with a specific root directory? Do you have any sample codes to reference?
    I hope someone can answer my question as soon as possible
    Thank you very much.

    Accessing the file system directly from a web app is a bad idea for several reasons. See http://weblogs.java.net/blog/simongbrown/archive/2003/10/file_access_in.html for a great discussion of the topic.
    On Weblogic there seems to be two ways to access files. First, use a File T3 connector from the console. Second, use java.net.URL with the file: protocol. The T3File object has been deprecated and suggests:
    Deprecated in WebLogic Server 6.1. Use java.net.URL.openConnection() instead.

  • Using clobs and ORA-01704: string literal too long

    Hi,
    I am attempting to add oracle support to an existing J2ee application. The issue I am facing is the use of CLOB datatypes and the 4k string literal limitation that Oracle has.
    I have dowloaded the 10.2.0.3 thin driver and am connected to a 9i release 2 database. When I execute a statement such as the following (say the table has one varchar2 field and two clob fields
    Insert into my_table VALUES ('hi','something','pretend this string is 5000 characters')
    I still receive the error
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01704: string literal too long
    I have read that the version 10 drivers were supposed to address this limitation. Is there something I am missing or must I change my home grown database layer to use bind variables or clob manipulation in a separate update/insert statement.? I am trying to avoid this situation since the database layer works fine for the situation of MSSQL and text fields which have no such limitation.
    Any advice you have here is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Insert into my_table VALUES ('hi','something','pretend this string is 5000 characters')
    I still receive the error
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01704: string literal too long
    I have read that the version 10 drivers were supposed to address this limitation. Is there something I am missing or must I change my home grown database layer to use bind variables or clob manipulation in a separate update/insert statement.? I am trying to avoid this situation since the database layer works fine for the situation of MSSQL and text fields which have no such limitation.
    Any advice you have here is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Joe
