  • How can I change the installation path  of JWS?

    I have to install the JRE 1.4.0_01 in silent mode on Windows XP. For the JRE I can set the installation path in the corresponding dialog and record it in an *.iss file. When starting the silent installation the JRE is correctly installed into this path but the Java Webstart installation procedure doesn't care about this path and installs JWS in 'D:\Programme\Java Web Start'.

  • Sol Man 4 - data transfer to SMD - what is installation path?

    In Solution manager 4, transactio SOLUTON_MANAGER then select menu path goto > Solution Manager Diagnostics > Solution Data Transfered.  It says "This wizard  senden the configuration data of solutions to the Solution Manager Diagnostics.".  Select continue. Next I select a Solution Landscape and press continue.  It seems to select all the servers with a basis level >= 640 and in my case find red opposit the server.  If you double click on the server and expand the resulting display to the "SYSTEM - main instance" attribute Installation Path is blank.
    What is Installation Path? Nothing I try to enter is valid.  Any idea what is supposed to go here?

    Before you attempt to publish a landscape to SMD there must be an SMD agent on each host running SAP BASIS 640 or higher that has sucessfully connected to the SMD.  The wizard takes your specified path and asks the agent on that host to verify that it exists.  If there is no agent you get that same cryptic error message.
    I suggest you use SM trans SOLUTION_MANAGER to create landscapes comprising of systems you have sucessfully deployed a SMD agent there-on.  As you deploy more SMD agents you can either create more landscapes or add those systems to your existing landscape that you have used for "publish to SMD".
    Summary:
    Step 1) Install SMD
    Step 2) Install SMD agent(s)
    Step 3) verify http://smhost:smport/smd/admin > Agent administration > Agent tab lists your server(s)
    Step 4) create landscapes for publishing wizard
    Step 5) publish lanscape expressly tailored for SMD

  • SQL Server installation paths best practices

    In my company we're planning to setup a new (consolidated) SQL Server 2012 server (on Windows 2012 R2, VMWare). Current situation is there is a SQL Server 2000, a few SQL Server 2008 Express and a lot of Access databases. For the installation I'm wondering
    what the best selections for the various installation paths are. Our infra colleagues (offshore) have the following standard partition setup for SQL Server servers:
    C:\ OS
    E:\ Application
    L:\ Logs
    S:\ DB
    T:\ TEMPDB
    And during the installation I have to make a choice for the following
    Shared feature directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\
    Shared feature directory (x86): x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\
    Instance root directory (SQL Server, Analysis Services, Reporting Services): x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\
    Database Engine Configuration Data Directories:
    Data root directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\
    User database directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    User database log directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Temp DB directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Temp DB log directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Backup directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Analysis Services Configuration Data Directories:
    User database directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    User database log directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Temp DB directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Temp DB log directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Backup directory: x:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.x\MSSQL\...
    Distributed Replay Client:
    Working Directory: x:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\DReplayClient\WorkingDir\
    Result Directory: x:\Program Files (86)\Microsoft SQL Server\DReplayClient\ResultDir\
    So I'd like some on assistance on the filling in the x drive letters. I understand it's best practice to seperate the data files and the logs files. But should that also be the case for TempDB? And should both the database and tempdb log files go to the
    same log paritition then? What about the backup directories? Any input is very much appreciated!
    Btw, I followed the http://www.sqlservercentral.com/blogs/basits-sql-server-tips/2012/06/23/sql-server-2012-installation-guide/ guide for the installation (Test server now).

    You can place all installation libraries on E:\ Drive.

    You can place tempdb data files on T drive and I prefer to place tempdb log and user database log file
    on the same drive i.e is L:\ Drive.
    >>Backup directories
    If you are not using any third party tool then i would prefer to create separate drive for backup.

  • How do you modify default installation path?

    In the previous versions of AAMEE there was an option to change the default pathway for installation.
    I d onot see this option in AAMEE 3.0
    How can I modify the installation path? All my installs are usually done on a secondary HDD.
    Also, there is an option to install only InDesign 64bit and Illustrator 64bit versions instead of installing both but I have not seen an option to install only Bridge 64bit. Can this be surpressed?
    Thank you much for your input.

    Digging through the XML I have found this option:
    <Screen name="ConfigureOptions">
        <control name="EULAOption" platform="All" machinePortability="1">1</control>
        <control name="ImproverOption" platform="All" machinePortability="1">1</control>
        <control name="conflictOption" platform="All" machinePortability="1" val="1"/>
        <control name="updaterOption" platform="All" machinePortability="1" val="0"/>
       <control name="deployPathOption" platform="All" machinePortability="1" val="0"/>
    Should I assume that I need to change the value to the correct deploy path?
    If yes, do I replace the 1 or the 0 with the value?

  • What are the ramification of changing the default installation path?

    Some of the users in my agency would like to standardize the installation path so it doesn't change when we upgrade from one version to another. There are other applications that use Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat Pro, and a standard path would be helpful. What are the ramification for security and quarterly updates?
    We are on Win 7 Pro SP1, mostly 32-bit.

    I tend to agree, and strongly recommended against it. Especially since Adobe products can be finicky. And the path that they have to update is not dynamic, unfortunately.
    Thanks.

  • SCCM 2012 Installation Directory Registry Key chaning automatically to Old Installation Path

    Hi Guys,
    I have recently recovered SCCM 2012 SP1 CAS Site from Primary Site by reinstalling CAS site and database was replicating with Primary sites properly after CAS recovery. But we noticed that after approx. 2 hours of CAS site recovery database replication stopped.
    After long digging into SCCM log files we found that SCCM installation directory was pointing to old CAS Site Installation Directory (Which was before recovery) instead of NEW Installation Directory so we changed SCCM CAS Site Installation Directory manually
    to new installation path in below registry key and everything was running fine again on CAS Site.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\SMS\Identification
    But again when we restarted SMS_EXEUTIVE Service, SCCM Installation Directory again changed to old installation patch under above registry location and all is bad again. We are unable to figure out what is causing this and even we formatted our HDD before
    installation CAS Site.
    Can anyone please help to get rid of this issue. Our while CAS site is down due to this issue.
    Thanks.

    I think that you have to use the same installation directory in a site recovery scenario.

  • Modify default installation path of WindowsApps

    Modify default installation path of WindowsApps
    First explain, I am a Chinese Windows user, my English fighting is only 5(very poor).Then I will try to use some simple English to tell you my problem.
    I use the method used in windows8 to modify default installation path of WindowsApps,but defeated.
    Why I want to modify default installation path of WindowsApps?
    Because when I installed software that is suitable for the traditional model, my C disc had only 10GB space.
    I think Win8.1 is perfect.And I like the traditional mode and Metro interface.(I heard Win9 can’t use two modes at the same time,but I think simultaneous use of two modes the operation is very nice.)
    The method used in windows8:
    First,Enter WinPE,create a file that is the mirror image of WindowsApps in D disc.
    Then,Enter Win8.1,make User get thechanges to the “Appx” folder under theregistry.
    Last,Amended registry master key of “packageRoot”as “D:/WindowsApps”
    This operation can be completed in Win8,but default in Win8.1.
    So,could you tell me how to modify default installation path of WindowsApps?
    If it’s impossible ,I hope Microsoft team could solve it.

    In my opinion it's a bad idea to change this, as most software is set to install on drive C: and not all of it may be using the proper CSIDL system calls to get the locations.
    You can be sure the majority of testing is done with applications installing in the system default location on C:.
    A much better idea is to save a few Yuan and buy a much larger SSD for the system drive, then use the default drive C: locations for the operating system and installed programs.

  • Find installation path of the LV application

    I want to find the installation path of the LV application. I have aplication already installed in the system. Lets call it applic.exe file. I want to find in which directory it is installed. I need to obtain this information programatically, probably by reading some registry key, but I do not know which.
    Thanks in advance.
    regards
    Pawel

    Hi pawel
    1. Registry: I don´t think that will be possible, since, at least in my system, there is no registry key for path to an application.exe. Yoy can try to run Regedit ans use its search to look for youa applic.exe and see all references in registry.
    2. My suggestion is to use any list recursive directories and check for path to your file.
    You can find examples if listing directories in this web and OpenG site.
    Hope it helps

  • Retrieve CS5 and CS5.5 installation path from registry

    Hello,
    I have Photoshop CS5 and CS5.5 (5.1) installed on my PC. I want to retrieve installation path for both but in registry i am able to see only CS5.5 (5.1) path. From where i can retrieve CS5 installation path?
    I think registry entry for CS5 is replaced by CS5.1. Is it possible to retrieve CS5 installation path?

    Hi Carl,
    I had looked at the link you posted earlier too.. I see that you had posetd the answer then too! So, I can post my queries to you directly!
    I created a jsx file named "Result.jsx", which I saved in my D drive, with the following code,
    resultFile = new File("D:/result.log");
    resultFile.open("w");
    resultFile.write(BridgeTalk.__diagnostics__);
    resultFile.close();
    If I run this directly from ESTK, there is no problem, and I get the result.log file. I tried to execute this script via command line as shown in the screenshot,
    On executing the above, I got the following error,
    What am I doing wrong? I need to do this urgently. Please suggest a solution..
    Thanks!

  • Default Installation Path Permission Requirement (Warning)

    I am trying to install SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition in parallel with SQL Server 2000. The server is a Dell 2650 with 1 GB RAM running Windows 2000 Server.
    The initial part of the setup runs the System Configuration Checker (SCC), which is generating this warning:
    Default Installation Path Permission Requirement (Warning)
    The server is a member of a domain, but I am logged in as the local administrator. The drive is not compressed. There are no file system problems. I am at a loss as to why this warning is occuring, and do not want to proceed until I figure this out.
    (I got this warning on another server as well. That was a test server, so I proceeded. The engine seems to run ok, but SSIS will not load, says a component is missing.  Not sure if the two issues are related or not).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
    Warnings doesn't stop your installation!! Can you proceed with the installation or else you can point some other installation directory other than C: drive.. This will verify drive formatting and read/write permissions!!
    You can refer the below link for default installation permission
