Send one of 5 checkbox values to a text field

I am trying to send the checked value of one of six checkboxes to a text field and just can't work it out. Can anyone help me.
Here is the script I have been trying to work with. I know it is wrong because it doesn't work.

I got it to work using your suggestion and giving them all the same name and assign different export values. Thanks for the recommendation.

How does one change a "rollover" value in a text field of a fillable PDF?

I have a fillable PDF, and the values displayed when rolling the pointer over a fillable text field are showing some strange values. I inherited this form from someone who is no longer with the company. I need to be able to change the values but can't figure out how. I'm new to LiveCycle so any help is greatly appreciated.

When you click on the field, right click to properties. If the tab isn't there then go to the top toolbar, click on Window and it should appear in the list there. Once you click on it in the Window menu it will appear as a tab on your properties box.

So you have a page1.
You hit submit from page1.
That goes to the cgiserver.
From the cgiserver, programmatically load up the jsp.
search this for the text field.
Display it on your page2.
Is that what you are trying to do?
BTW, won't be able to help you with cgi scripting at all. Can help with Java and Jsp.

I can't enter any value in the Text field, after loading flash files

Hi to all,
In my Java application, I'm using a text field and a panel to load flash files. I'm using JDIC 0.9.1 to load the flash files in the panel. The flash files are created by Flash CS4.
While running the application, I can't enter any value in the Text field, after minimize and maximize the application I can enter the values.
This problem happens after change the jre version from 1.6 to 1.7.
I'm getting the following exception while running the application.
org.jdesktop.jdic.init.JdicInitException: java.io.IOException: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect

I am having a problem with the error mentioned in the title. I see alot of others have experienced the same problem, but I have quite a twist to it.
I see the problem when I try to edit a list item, and then try to save the changes.
Here what I see in the ULS log:

I have 3 front end servers(fx wfe1, wfe2, wfe3). And here is the twist.
If I access the library directly through wfe1 and wfe2, I get the error. If I access the library via wfe3 if works just fine.
So because of this, I think it is safe to assume that is has nothing to do with the character limit of 255. Nor does it have anything to do with the field type, since it is already set to mulitible lines of text.
So. Any ideas?

To work around this issue, limit the length of the personal message in the invitation to 256 characters or less.

To solve the problem you may have to change the field's parent type to "note". To do that you have to open your fldtypes... file under Templates/xml and change the line to:
"<Field Name="ParentType">Note</Field>" from "<Field Name="ParentType">Text</Field>"
You might also have to add a sql type if your text needs to be longer than 255 characters
<Field Name=”SQLType”>ntext</Field>
and inherit from SPFieldMultiLineText instead of SPFieldText

Sum the values of a text field in a tabular form using JavaScript

Hi Folks.
OK, I put my hands up. I don't know Java script but I'm picking up the basics and I WANT to learn.
Here's my situation.
I have a tabular form which has lots of Standard Report Columns and ONE text field.
I want to sum the values entered in the text field, real time, using Java Script without the need to have a round trip to the database.
I'm guessing this will involve some kind of loop. Once I have that SUM figure I will store it in a hidden item and it will be used for validation when the user submits the form.
If anyone can give me a simple Java Script to do this, or point me in the direction of one, I'd be very grateful.

Using radio buttons to set the value of a text field

I have a set of three radio buttons on a form (a performance evaluation). If I select the "1" button, I want 1 to populate in the text field. The same goes for "2" and "3"
I have not been able to code the buttons correctly for this scenario, and can't figure out how to do it.
From a previous post, I was able to get check boxes to do what I want, but they won't really work because I can't set them so that only one back may be selected.
Can this be done?

The information for this specific case isn't anywhere. The best that you can do is understand what triggers each of the events, then ask yourself which of those triggers are pertinent to your current issue.

The above link contains a great deal of information regarding how to use scripts within Livecycle Designer. The section that you would be most interested in in order to learn about the available events can be found under "Events >> List of Events".
You needed to use the initialize event so that the text field would be updated when the document was opened. This ensure that the text field has the value of the default radio button when it is opened for the first time.
You needed to use the change event so that, when the use selects a different radio button, the text field is updated with the new value.
That's about it. That PDF file that I link to above is a bit long, but it's a great place to get a good grasp of the basics of scripts.

How do I 'commit' a value in a text field with GUI scripting?

I have a script to change the dates of a "Roll" in iPhoto. I can insert the text into the proper field, but it doesn't 'stick'. When I click on another item, the text field returns to the old date. If I click on the text field before I run the script, then a Tab or Return from the keyboard will set the field properly.
Do I need to programatically set the 'focus' on the field first? Without setting the focus first, a "keystroke return" is caught by the top window and either beeps or opens a photo for edit (as one might expect).

Thanks for the reply. Backstory: My iPhoto library got corrupted, so I created a new one and dragged in the old Library. The Rolls all have the date the new rolls (directories) were created; all the same in this case. Sorting the rolls by date is thus nonsensical. The AppleScript for iPhoto doesn't handle what I want to accomplish, but the UI scripting might help me out.
When the whole Library is picked, you can 'view' by "Film Rolls" and the date appears in the bar above each roll of photos. You can change the date in the "Information" area available at the lower left. (The same area you change the title of the rolls or photos, too.) I want to change the roll dates to match the photos' dates.
So I fired up UI scripting and figured out that I can fetch the date range of the photos in a roll and then set a date for the roll. I can see the date change in the text field, but it doesn't 'stick'. Only if the field has been clicked on prior to running the script, can I "keystroke return" to 'enter' the field. Otherwise I'm looking for suggestions.
Slightly off topic: The whole right side of the iPhoto screen is a big black hole for UI events. You can't tell anything about it with the UI Element Inspector. I can't automagically 'pick' anything in there, so I can't 'select' the rolls from a script. I'll settle for clicking on a roll and then running a script to correct its date.

How to handle the lack of unentered values in a text field

i am a bit new to Swing . i have created a form where i need the user to input details BUT HE DOES NOT HAVE TO ENTER VALUES IN ALL THE FIELDS .
when i pass values to all the text fields it works well but when i fail to enter one of the fields it throws exceptions .
how can i rectify this problem ?

Retain all form field values after input text field validation failure

I have a form with 1 input text field, one Command button and one h:selectManyListbox. when User enteres some values in input field and clicks on command button named Add, the value is validated. If input is invalid, then an error message appears next to the field. If input is valid, then the value is added into h:selectManyListbox. Adding to list box is done using Ajax4Jsf.
Probelm:
Let's assume user entered 3 valid values one after another and all are added into the list box. When he enters a wrong value, and error message appears. however, the entered values in list box goes away. Is there a way to retain the values even after validation failure.

Use the attribute "binding" instead of a "value". This will remember the value. You can also make sure that you dont have anything in your constructor or class level that initialises that value to "" or null. Because if JSF is remembering your value but your initialization that gets triggered before the page loading resets it to default values then you need to change that part of the code.

Insert a Value into a Text Field

I think you are trying to populate ID value (primary key) with the last value of your table? Is that you are trying? If it's NUMBER column you better try to use MAX function..
Since you want default value for only one item, Edit item P1_ID -> go to Default value section
Select default type as SQL and put following SQL
SELECT MAX(my_column) FROM my_table;So on page load, P1_ID will get populated with MAX value of my_column from my_table

Search and Replace values in the text field before values are stored to DB

In my application there is a question - text area and answer - text field. Problem is, some answers are stored with the single quotes to the DB and I have a problem while retrieving it from the DB. I need to replace the 1 single quotes with 2 single quotes. The values are stored to the DB when the submit button is clicked.
So I am using the following javascript code:

Now, I am using the PL/SQL code. This is what I am planning to do.
When the user enters any word like this, Test's, this single quote should be replaced by some special character, #@@#, - what is the PL/SQL code for this?
Right now my PL/SQL code is:

so the replacing part should come somewhere before the update statement.... how can I do it?

How do I display array values in a text field?

I have a small Flash movie I'm trying to complete, it's my
first go around with Flash 8 so I appreciate your patience:
I built an array with some actionscript which seems to work
fine (I can trace it and all is well in the trace window). Now I'm
simply trying to display it to my Flash movie screen and I've built
a dynamic text window which is working, except that I only ever get
the last array element to appear in the dynamic text window. I've
traced the code and see all of my array values, but when I use
"myResults_txt.text=picker_array;" I only see the last position's
value in my array. I tried playing with the "multiline" attribute
for the text field, it didn't seem to make any difference.
I'm sure it's probably something silly that I've missed, but
how do you display an array, with all of it's values to a dynamic
text field (I even tried using the textArea component but ran into
the same problem).

Thanks for your input. I tried just about everything but
ended up re-writing the contents of the array to a var and looping
through the var. Not my first choice but it got me to done.

How can I validate numeric values in a text field?

Once more I have a problem.
I have a field in which the user should enter 10 digits in the pattern 999999-9999. The field must only contain numeric data and must be exactly 10 characters. I have a validation script on the print button, that prevent printing if required fields are empty or not properly filled out.
I have tried two ways to work this out, and I'm not satisfied with any of them, as I can still print despite of validation scripts and warning messages.
1.
I set the field to numeric, limited to 11 characters.
Display pattern num{999999-9999}, edit pattern num{999999-9999} and validation pattern num{999999-9999}
Problems using this solution: When I type 11 digits in the field (ex.12345612345) I get a warning message and 12.345.612.
But when I type 9 digts (ex. 123456-123 or 123456123) I get no warning message and 000000-0000 or 012345-6123
If I type alphabetical characters (ex. 123456-abcd) I get no warning message and 000000-0000.

          all your input fields would be bound to different attributes..... for every attribute you have an option called default value... in the context... you can make use of that...
               or
           in the wddoinit method, you can pass teh values to these attributes dynamically using set_attribute method.
