Sender Side: File Content Conversion

I have a text file, with following values.
AAA056070144AEA056070144AACTESTPO271+(.......sequence continues)
Length of TAG (Like AAA, AEA,AAC etc) is fixed (i.e.3 ). Length of the Values coming after TAG are not fixed. Field Separator is '+'.
Source structure is
DT_OrdersFromECHO
|_   ECHO_SO
       |_ Value
My requirement is after FCC, I sud get
ECHO_SO
       |_ Value : AAA056070144
ECHO_SO
       |_ Value :     AEA056070144
ECHO_SO
       |_ Value :     AACTESTPO271
If I mention field Separator and filed Names ,it gives an error
Conversion of file content to XML failed at position 0: java.lang.Exception: ERROR converting document line no. 1 according to structure 'ECHO_SO':java.lang.Exception: ERROR in configuration / structure 'ECHO_SO.': More elements in file csv structure than field names specified!
How can i achieve it?

So you will have only one line in the input file which have all the records separated by + sign. Right?
If this is the case then you cannot use FCC of the sender file channel. because at a time the fields or the values are not fixed..
So I will suggest you to read the file into PI (without FCC) and then break it into
TAG : AAA
Value: 1234
TAG : AEA
Value: 12345
TAG : BAA
Value: 3456
either using XSLT of java mapping.. So your interface mapping will have this mapping as 1st and your normal (source to targte conversion) mapping as 2nd

Doubt regarding Sender adapter file content conversion to RFC

Below is the my Source and Target XML structure ( i have creaated source structure same as target RFC structure), This scenario is working fine when i give XML file as input. File -> XI -> RFC , xml file is able to update the information in R3.
How should i configure sender file adapter for file content conversion for above structure(in this case input is fixed lenth text), and i could able to change source structure according to our req, without changing target RFC strucuture.

Hi Dhanush,
Try giving the Sender FCC this way for the source structure you have mentioned above.
Record structure as: COMMIT,1,IDENTIFICATION,1
COMMIT.fieldNames : COMMIT_I
COMMIT.fieldFixedlengths: 1

I require your suggestion on File content conversion with Sender File adapter. I am having a scenario where I would be getting multiple orders data i.e., header and item information in a single file. Suppose, we have given a chance to design the source structure. So, which would be the better way for having the source structure so that it would be easy for file content conversion and mapping. Is it like Method 1 or Method II?

Hi everyone,
Can someone help me out here?
For some reasons, out of the fields declared, only 20 gets filled!
Scenario, I've configured the file sender adapter with file content conversion. It's picking up an fixed length ASCII file.
Here are the Content Converion Parameters:
Document Name: MT_Site
Recordset Name: Rootnode
Recordset Structure: Site,*
Recordset Sequence: Ascending
Site.fieldNames= Site_Number,Participant_Number,OPIS_Terminal,ntework_list,tax_code1,tax_code2,tax_code3,tax_code4,CFN_Product,CFN_Product_1,CFN_Product_2,CFN_Product_3,CFN_Product_4,CFN_Product_5,CFN_Product_6,CFN_Product_7,CFN_Product_8,CFN_Product_9,Name,Address,City,Province_state,Region,Filler
Site.fieldFixedLengths= 6,4,4,6,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,30,26,26,2,1,1
Site.processFieldName= fromConfiguration
Site.lastFieldsOptional= YES

So only the first 20 fields gets filled!

check if the number of characters in the file matches the total in the content conversion for one record line.
if ur message type has three fields a1,b1,c1 of length 10,10,5 respectivvely and the same is maintained in CC, if u have the file data as 123456789abcdef the data for <b>a1</b> will be 123456789a and for <b>B1</b> it will be bcdef and no data for C.....hence this check

File content conversion query

hi,
i have sender and received side -file content conversion.
in sender communication channel -
Recordset structure is -> Header,1,Detail,*
Message type structure is
MT1 has 2 subnodes Header and Detail.
In my message type,there is no field identical in Header and Details. All fields are different.
(1) Is Key Field Name mandatory in this case ? If I am not giving Key field name,sender channel gives error. How to resolve it ?
(2) Input file comes from customer and in the input file there is no specific data to identify header and detail. 1st line shud be header and other lines shud be Detail ,they say. If no identification coming in incoming data,how can we set the key field name ?

Once you get this in mapping use a simple UDF to ignore the first ROW values and read the rest.
Populate the target structure from the output of UDF for each field value.
Please let me know if you need the uDF and further mapping for this.

Error whil doing File Content Conversion

Hi all,
I had configured a sender for File Content Conversion and I am getting the follwoing error.
Sender Adapter v1014 for Party '', Service 'bs_xml_sender':
Configured at 05:39:05 2007-04-27
Initialization error: Conversion initialization failed with java.lang.Exception: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.Exception: Error(s) in XML conversion parameters found:
Format error in 'xml.recordset' argument: incomplete structure (name,number) pair.
Any ideas why I am getting this error.

Here is the detailed error message.

File content conversion on Sender Side

Hi,
I am doing file content conversion on sender side.when i am executing the scenario,i am getting the following error in sxmb_moni:
Invalid at the top level of the document. Error processing resource 'file:///D:/Documents and Settings/...............
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?> DOC_HEADER ...
when i right click on the pyaload and select view source
its displaying the whole flat file with the following line at the beginning:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
i have given all the parameters correctly....
in sxmb_moni.....the error category is Mapping and the error id id EXCEPTION_DURING_EXECUTE
Please help me with this error.

Hi !!
The best way to debug would be to add TRACE statements in your mappigs. In both Graphical and java Mapping.
Trace out the entire output of java mapping and see if this is the input that the next mapping expects.

Key field values for file content conversion at sender communicationchannel

Hi all,
I am working on scenario File to Idoc.In this scenario at the sender side we configure the file content conversion for .CSV file.
In the flat file i am having more than one orders, XI will pick the file and creates a separate Idoc for each sales order at r/3.
We have similar fields "Order Item Number" both header and item.
If we got '00000' on the Header item then it should create a new idoc at the r/3 side other wise it will create line item.
Order item number will be 00000 for header but it will differ from order item to item.

Order date

Street and House number
Postal Code

I don't have standard filed values to give the key fileds at source structure.
I need to create the Idoc at r/3 system for each individual record.
Is it possible to create new idoc with out using the Key filed value?
If it is possible then how can i proceed with fcc?

Just check the Content Conversion Parameters- Recordset Structure.
If you have filled in this parameter with
Header,1,Item,1
then change it to
Header,1,Item,3

For file content convertion if there are fixed lenth then no need to give the feildseperator,just give the fixed lenths for all the feild in FCC.

Sender File Content Conversion

I am using the file content conversion in sender file adapter with fieldFixedLengths parameter in recordset structure. This work fine when the columns in row is exactly with the length set in the parameter recordset. But in same cases, the row in the file has less columns, which occurs errors. If I use the parameter fixedLengthTooShortHandling usage by the receiver file adapter, will it work for the file sender?

The parameter fixedLengthTooShortHandling is not a part of the Sender File Adapter's content conversion paramteters, So i guess it will not work for the sender file adapter.
I would suggest that you try it anyways, and if it does work, then it means that this field has been forgotten in the help documentation

File Sender adapter with File content conversion

I'm having problems picking up a flat file that has some junk characters in the file.
I'm usign a file sender adapter with file content conversion. The adapters shows the following error-
Conversion of complete file content of to XML format failed around position 0: sun.io.MalformedInputException
this is the sample data with junk char's -
A20099201009999009999060815160505051700130008151vÿÿÿÿ³ r 0OK0476 31N016227241915840IV 00840 ÿÿÿ ÿ ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ ÿ ÿÿÿ
There is not much in the file content conversion. This is a fixed length file, I'm just pickign it up & passing it to an inbound proxy. All my processing is in the proxy.
I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Hi Rachana,
Do you use a specific "encoding" like UTF-8 or ISO-8859-1 in your Sender CC?
To be simple, Encoding is linked to country, you can find all "iso-nnnn" via google or some of them in sap help.

Moreover, with your source file opened thanks to Notepad (for instance), use option "save UNDER", you will the encoding use by your file

File-Sender: Verification of file content during file content conversion

Hello,
I have a question regarding file verification when using the file-sender adapter.
I got a flat file (.csv) that I convert into XML with the file-sender adapter and file-content-conversion.
In the file there is a column RecTyp that is my KeyFieldValue. Possible values for RecTyp are B, D, U, T.
So far so good. All this works perfectly.
If (due to an error) there is another value in RecTyp than the 4 mentioned above (B;D;U;T) the file adapter ignores this row today. And here begins my issue:
I want to change this behavior. That means in detail, I want to check if there is another value in my KeyFieldValue RecTyp than specified. If this is the case an exception should be thrown. The whole message should not be delivered.
We had the idea to use the module-processor for this verification.
But may be there are other suggestions. Or may be some one can provide an appropriate module that is already written, etc.
Does anyone have an idea?

Hi,
It is better to pick the file in generic way i.e Row by Row and then go with the validation with the help of Adapter Modules or in the Mapping.
