Sending Binary using DAQmx

Hi all,
I am trying to create a program so that I can enter a number and a given step size and have labview send the digital output to an instrument using DAQmx.  I am working with a machine that reads 15 bit binary (bit 0 - bit 14).  I am able to make the desired binary number with the given step size, the problem I am having is that I am not too familiar with DAQmx and don't know how I should go about sending the corresponding 0 or 1 signal voltage from the correct element of the binary number.  For example if my binary is 100111001110001 i want to send the first pin on my instrument that signal (+5v) and the second pin (0v) and so on.  Should i be making my binary into an array or a string format?  Any input would greatly help out.
Thanks

You should take a look at the shipping example called Write Dig Port. This example sends a U32 number to DAQmx Write. The data to write in the example is displayed as hex but that doesn't make a difference. You don't have to do any conversion. Port0/line0 is the least significant bit, port0/line1 is the next, etc.

  • Sending Binary data using ASCII

    Hello All,
    I'm trying to control serial-interface instrument using NI-VISA with a set of ASCII codes, but the instrument reads/sends binary data only. What should I do so that the ASCII codes I send are converted into binary commands for the instrument to read, and that the data I receive is converted back into ASCII?
    Thanks in advance
    M

    Hi M,
    first you should define the words "binary commands/data". Then you should know: ASCII is binary too...
    You may work with an U8 array. You can easily convert strings to U8 arrays and vice-versa!

  • Sending Binary Data using HTP package

    Has anyone been successful in using the HTP package and its PUTRAW procedure to send binary data to a browser?
    Example code shows basic idea:
    create or replace
    procedure test_raw as
    output VARCHAR2(20);
    begin
    OWA_UTIL.MIME_HEADER('application/x-gzip', TRUE);
    output := 'Hello World!';
    HTP.PUTRAW(UTL_RAW.CAST_TO_RAW(output));
    HTP.FLUSH;
    end test_raw;
    I receive an empty file when called from the browser.
    What gives?

    I found my answer. I should be using wpg_docload.download_file(BLOB) to "download" a the contents of a BLOB.

  • Send binary file using xml

    Hi all,
    I've got an application wich currently sends xml messages through sockets between server and client. Now, I'd like to be able of sending binary files (jpegs and other images...) as some content of these files. Is it possible with CDATA? Do you know any URL with an example or something?
    thanks a lot!

    This is a little example that shows the solution I adopted.
    Two classes, a server and a client, execute the server in a given port and the client with "localhost" as ip and the same port as the server.
    Ex: java Server 5555
    java Client localhost 5555
    the code:
    import java.net.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class Server {
        public static void main(String[] args) {

  • Is there any possibility to send binary messages using the TCPIP write?

    With a type-cast (in the "Advanced" submenu) you can easyly convert
    Binary-Data to a string.Than you can send it over TCP/IP and convert it
    back at the other end.
    Maybe this helps a bit.

    look like rely turned off on the server..
    check this.. or ask your network guys..
    Go to Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs->Click on
    Add/Remove Wndows Components
    Check IIS check box.
    Select Internet Information Service (IIS) option and click on Details button
    Check whether SMTP Service is checked or not.
    If not selected then select SMTP check box.
    This process should be done on server.
    It will help out from ORA-29278: SMTP transient error: 421 Service not available problem.

  • How to send binary data in the message body

    How can we send binary data in the message body that is base64 encoded? below are the requirements
    Mime Header.
    Mime-version: 1.0
    Content-Type: application/octet_stream; name=test
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: Base64
    Submission must be named "test.sub" (lowercase)
    Submission must be base64 mime-encoded
    Submission must be sent in the body of the message (not as an attachment)
    Only one submission per mail message
    No other comments should be put in the body of the mail message (other than the submission)
    I highly appreciate your help. If you can provide few examples, that will be very helpfull.
    Thanks,
    Madan

    Use Message.setContent to set the content, or use Message.setDataHandler with
    a DataHandler constructed with a ByteArrayDataSource. If the content is not
    "naturally" encoded in base64, you can enforce it by setting the Content-Transfer-Encoding
    header to "base64". Any reasonable mail reader won't care what encoding you use, as
    long as the decoded data is correct.

  • Sending binary data as attachment

    Is that possible to send binary ( which is actually fragment of a large file i.e. 100MB ) data as attachment to SOAP message ?
    The complete scenario is below.
    * I have to send a large file around 100MB, to server as a fragment as attachment of SOAP message.
    * It is received at the server and sent as such to another server ( I dont want the user to send data directly to this "another" server, call it as main server ).
    * main server will update the fragment into a stream which remains unclosed until last fragment received.
    * after receiving SOAP message ( which contains the fragment ), main server will repond 'OK' to sub server.
    * If the sub server receives OK, then it will send the next fragment until EOF.
    May be at main server I may need to check whether the file is properly received using some checksum logic.
    I hope I am making sense. I am thinking of using Axis2 ( I am totally newbie to web services). Could someone point me if I miss something ?

    thanks

  • Sending binary data from JSP (1.1)

    Hi all:
    I am using Tomcat 3.2.1 and Apache under Linux Mandrake OS.
    I have a JSP (1.1) sending binary data (GIF, PDF, DOC ..) using response.getOutputStream().write(data)
    method.
    The problem is the precompiler automatically creates the JspWriter and puts some out.write("\r\n") lines
    before I use getOutputStream method. The JVM throws an IllegalStateException because I am using both
    methods (this is from Servlet 2.2 specification).
    Must I change my code to forwarding to a servlet that make this work or is there a simple solution to
    avoid this?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Sending binary data over RS232 without conversion to ascii

    I need to send binary data to a PIC without the data being converted to ascii. With the VISA vi's, when I want to send 11111111, it gets converted to a string "255", and is sent as "2","5","5" in ascii.

    Well I wouldn't call my customer an idiot either.  I didn't know he was your customer.  Sorry.  Not every comment posted here is intended to directly solve a problem.  We are a fun loving group, and occasional ribbings take place here.  I still think that trying to use 9 bits over an 8-bit protocol is not a good way to go.  But if it is the only way, then so be it.
    r_keller wrote:
     Does the Mark or Space parity bit add another 10th bit to the command or can i only use either ODD parity/Mark/Space?
    According to the link you attached, the parity bit adds only one more bit.  If the number of bits is set to 8, then the parity is the 9th bit, and you can only use Mark or Space to force that 9th bit to either 1 or 0 respectively.  If you try to use odd or even parity, the protocol will determine the parity and change the bit accordingly, and it may not be the one you intended to send.  The start and stop bits are fixed by the protocol and cannot be used for extra data bits.
    Actually, until I read that article about using Mark and Space, I had no idea at all that sending 9 bits at a time was possible.

  • Loss of sending email using WIFI

    As of this morning 8-20-08, after updating to 2.02, I no longer am able to send emails using my own wireless network. Previously this was no problem. Neither Fido or Apple have any idea of what I am talking about. Fido washed their hands as they do not support WIFI. How convenient, they sell the phone and charge for the service but do not support it. Videotron, my ISP, thinks the issue is my wireless router but I can send via gmail so that's out. I resovled the problem by configuring my accounts to use my gmail smtp server as a second option and now the spinning wheel is short lived and messages are sent.
    I'm sorry to say that I had fallen for all the hype about Apple but truth is they are but a Microsoft wannabe.
    Disinchanted

    So here's the wierd thing.
    I was having the same problems. Set up SMTP for Videotron when at home using relais.videotron.ca SMTP with no authenticationon port 25 & all was good in the world. However when I went out, bang. Nothing. Couldn't send a mail for love nor money.
    Thought aboutit & changed settings to use relais.videotron.ca SMTP, but this time using authentication of vltl** / password credentials with no SSL (Videotron doesn't use SSL) and again everything was fine. Of course, when I got home again, bang. Everything fell over & no more mail sending foe me!
    So I figure, when I'm at home I'm on my trusted network at port 25, I don't need authentication and all is good, but when I'm out i'm seen as potential SPAM by port 25 on videotron & get blocked.
    Tried using port 587 instead when for both home & mobile but had no luck either.
    Then a strange thing happened. I'd resolved to having to set up 2 SMTP servers on my iPhone & switching between the two based on where I was. Pain in the a**, but there's always a trade off for early adopter technology So I set up my primary SMTP to use port 25 with no authentication, and a secondary server to use the same relais.videotron.ca outgoing server, but this time WITH authentication using vltl** \ password credentials.
    After a walk to the shop when I'd been on my secondary SMTP server (successfully sending & recieving) I came home & inadvertantly forgot to swith back to my primary SMTP. Recieved a mail & then responded with no problem!
    Net result, I now have a permanently switced off primary server & a permanently switched on secondary server which uses relais.videotron.ca details with vltl** \ password authentication credentials active (like I did on my old silver iPhone) & all is good in the world, both at home & out mobile, both for sending & recieving!
    Will field test some more tomorrow but it may be a 2.0.2 bug where ther primary server details fcuk up whereas the secondary server details are stable.
    So long as it works, who cares!

  • How can I send email using two different email address that both link back to my one exchange account on my Ipad mini

    How can I send email using two different email address that both link back to my one exchange account on my Ipad mini?
    On my PC I simply have a master return email address and use a POP for the secondary address.  Both are through the one exchange account without a problem.  I need to be able to do the same on my Ipad.

    Ah, I should have made that clear.  My domain didn't come from google.  It was purchased at and is hosted at dreamhost, but I haven't used their email servers in years - I just route everything through gmail.  I actually have a bunch of domains (with websites).
    Gmail has an option that lets someone with custom domains send (and receive) email through gmail using the custom domain once Google confirms proper ownership of the domain (to prevent spammers and such).  Gmail has a setting for "send email as" which allows gmail to be sent using a custom domain as the sender.  I'm pretty sure Apple's old mobileme had this feature too, but I didn't use it.

    I would try sending just basic text first, then move on to getting your other pieces dynamics. The very last step to me would be the email body.

  • IPhone cannot send email using Yahoo account. iPhone no envia correo Yahoo.

    Hi Everyone,
    I just got my iPhone from Movistar Venezuela and I've found I'm unable to send email using my Yahoo account. However, I can receive Yahoo email just fine (paid $20 for Mail Plus subscription), my GMail account can send and receive perfectly, and I can go surfin' Safari with no problems too.
    The error message I get is "Cannot send mail: an error occurred while delivering this message". I called Movistar Customer Support and they said everything was fine on their end...
    In typical Apple fashion, the error message is so simple I have no idea where the problem is. Does anyone know how can I get more information and how to solve this annoying problem? My Yahoo account is actually my primary account...
    Thanks in advance!
